I don’t have a lot of nice things to say about the Loews unfortunately. From the beginning we had issues. Much of them went unresolved and had it not been for our amazing planner we probably would have left the contract and found a new venue.
Here’s the good stuff:
- the hotel has beautiful gardens and bay views
- the food was good
- the day of staff seemed attentive and focused
The not so good:
- a lot of bait and switch…beware of the tactics they pull on you because they know once you sign on to have their wedding with them you basically don’t matter because they are already getting the guaranteed revenue.
- Had several issues with the catering team. The first person we were assigned to was overloaded and too busy to answer my planner or my emails. The second hire left and the venue didn’t tell us. We found out by getting an email that bounced back. There was no transition plan. There was also no acknowledgment of the poor experience.
- The space is not private. Their diagrams of their spaces are very flawed. My planner had to re measure the space manually and found huge discrepancies. They will book multiple events sharing the same space and act like that’s no problem. Again their diagrams are way off and make it look like the spaces are private when they are not. Day of we had people from the hotel in our private space coming in from the lobby. We even had someone take a guests slice of cake.
- Our original room block was no cheaper than their “book ahead save 15%” rate. We had to ask them to do better in which they responded with oh we didn’t realize we had that rate.
- The website is terrible. So many guests complained. It’s slow and most of the time didn’t work when people tried to book our room block.
- Little things like figuring out the meal indicator that would comply with the rules of the venue was difficult to plan around. For example a sprig of flowers couldn’t be used to indicate the meal choice. We even put together a color coordinated map of all 75 guests and their meal choices - this was not “easy enough” for the catering team so we had to purchase expensive meal indicator stamps that we didn’t want in our tablescape just to appease them until later we found out they could do the sprigs to indicate dietary restrictions - completely confusing and frustrating.
- Takes forever to get an answer on things from the Loewe’s team. We asked how much the corkage would be if we wanted to bring our own ceremonial alcohol (and we were already paying the most premium open bar service) and it took them weeks to get back to us. This made it so much harder to source because we were really down to the final two weeks to find that vendor after waiting to hear from the Loewe’s.
- This is very much a conference/business hotel. If you’re a small wedding, they don’t care about you. They prioritize their bigger events and sadly for myself, my family, and many of my guests, we will never stay at a Loewe’s again because of it. If you do stay while the hotel is hosting big events you’ll find that much of the amenities are closed off to you (i.e the terrace) because it’s been rented out for the entire weekend. Oh and they don’t give you a heads up about that either.
-internet basically didn’t work at all. It was the same way when we stayed a few months prior to the wedding.
- rooms were outdated and had a bit of a mildew scent. They don’t give you a bridal suite or any of the normal nice to haves like other venues do.
Seems ok but response time is very long waiting weeks for email responses.
We did two pre-wedding events at the resort. The venue is absolutely beautiful. The food, desserts, and overall catering were amazing. The catering staff went above and beyond in make our guests happy. The event went over the scheduled time and the staff was very gracious to let us stay longer. Many of our guests also loved the view of the water and raved about how good the food was.
Everything was very organised and the food was delicious. Anna was a great support and we appreciate all her planning and outstanding work.
We were beyond satisfied with the experience.
Made our wedding day experience easy and smooth. Couldn't be happier.
The team at Loews were all so amazing!! We worked with Mary-Kate and Elyse as our wedding coordinators this past September and they both did amazing jobs!!! Every step of the wedding planning process was easy and went smoothly!! Anytime we had questions or concerns they were so eager to help and prompt with solutions! Elyse was always available to answer questions and was very organized. The day of our wedding was perfect!!! If anything went wrong I wouldn’t know, because they made sure everything went as planned!! Our guests were so impressed with the hotel and its employees. Every single worker there was so kind and treated everyone with respect!! They even sent up sweet little surprises to our honeymoon suite to congratulate us which made us feel so special!! I 10/10 recommend Loews Coronado to anyone looking for a wedding venue!! We are so thankful that we chose Loews!
This review is long overdue. My husband and I tied the knot in March 29, 2019 and had our wedding reception at Loews. We had a very intimate wedding (total of 25 inc bride and groom). I worked with both Elyse and Mary Kate and let me just say they are absolutely wonderful! Everything we selected from the wedding package was amazing. The food was phenomenal ( at tasting and wedding day), the cake vendor we chose was great, as was our florist (also on their preferred list - Noemi with Trendee). I did not have a wedding planner so I took care of all the comms with everyone. Elyse and Mary Kate are truly amazing and they took care of answering all of my questions and concerns. As for the big day, we were all blown away by the reception set up, amazing job our florist did, the food, the drinks, but most important.....the service. The service provided that evening was top notch. Our family is still talking about how wonderful everything turned out. Thank you to all at Loews. Unforgettable.
The Loews Coronado was the first venue my wife and I toured and we decided on the spot that we were sold! That really says something in a city like San Diego that is so rich in amazing venues. We locked in our date about a year and a half in advance. It is a busy property during the summer with weddings and cooperate events so plan accordingly.
We hosted three events for our guests during our wedding weekend. A welcome reception, wedding, and farewell brunch. All three events went perfectly and the Loews staff exceeded our expectations.
Our guests had an amazing time and often mentioned how accommodating the Loews was for various reasons. We can’t thank the Loews enough for helping to make our dream wedding a realty!
Lastly, we worked closely with Elyse who is the catering manager on property. She was very responsive with emails and even accommodated our requests for our favorite local beers! She made sure to check in with us daily just incase we had any concerns. Thank you Elyse and the entire Loews staff!
The venue was amazing, service exceeded my expectations, the catering manager, Elyse Charlesworth was easy and did a wonderful job! The hotel accommodated everyone include special meals for Vegans and all the dishes were amazing! You will not find a better sunset than you do at this hotel . I have been in San Diego for over 25 years and the sunsets at this hotel are amazing! I have been a professional event planner for 30 years (this was my daughters wedding) and the entire hotel staff including Elysse exceeded my expectations and made the dream wedding a reality!
STAY AWAY! They don't deserve a single star! My Fiance and I booked our wedding at Loews over a year ago. On March 12, 2019 with only 4 months to our wedding date Loews Director of Catering calls us to tell us that Corporate has decided to renovate the hotel and our contracted venue is no longer available. The past three days have been incredibly stressful and emotional. We trusted Loews with our dream wedding and our life savings. It is disheartening that Loews does not valuing our business and is ignoring the sacrifice and hard work that we have put into our wedding over the past year.
Originally, we absolutely loved working with Anna on our wedding. Anna was honest and very prompt with her responses to our questions. My fiancee and I have stayed at the Lowe's in the past - so we had little to no hesitation in booking with Anna for our September 1, 2018 Wedding. We were blessed to be familiar with the island, it's amenities, and the ins-and-outs of the Lowes. We quickly finalzed our vendors (all of whom were fantastic & praised us for choosing the Lowes.) About half way to our Wedding Day, we received notice that Anna was moved to a different department and we would be working with Elyse. This is when problems ensued. Majority of what we finalized with Anna seemed to be an issue with Elyse. We wanted to move our Wedding Reception to the smaller outdoor reception area simply because we had older relatives now willing to travel for us (and we wanted them to enjoy the Ocean view as much as possible!) Although we did not expect a discount - we were shocked when Elyse came back to us and announced an INCREASE in cost for the outdoor venue simply because it was Labor Day Weekend. This was something that Anna ensured us WAS NOT an issue. We wanted our guests to have a variety of food choices and Anna confirmed with us over the phone several times that each plate does have it's OWN individual cost - therefore we were slightly shocked when Elyse chose to charge us off of the highest priced plate for all guests. We negotiated this with Anna prior to our deposit as we were originally going to host the reception at The Del due to the more lavish food options at a better rate. I struggled to reach Elyse with questions on many occasions and had to leave word with her assistant - at one point I had to have another employee review our BEO with us due to the ever changing "left over budget" Elyse insisted we had for Food & Beverage (this was non-existent as we had calculated our food and open bar cost on several occasions - to this day we have absolutely no idea where or how she came to these calculations.) It took far longer than normal to receive a finalized BEO due to this issue. We felt the staff was consistently scattered and poorly organized under Elyse's instruction. The day of our Wedding, the Banquet Room we were assigned to get ready in did not have ANY of the items Elyse had ensured us would be available when we confirmed details with her the night before. It became a consistent pattern to track down a staff member to ask for items (such as hangers, chairs, etc.) to be brought up to the room. Our Coordinator also struggled in getting secure confirmation from Elyse in terms of appropriate lay out/set up for the DJ, Bar, etc. I had confirmed with Elyse that it would be do-able to order a Brunch for my bridesmaids the day of the wedding. I called the restaurant at 7am that day to schedule a delivery of appetizers, pancakes, and flavored water to the Bridal Suite. After having to wait for a manager to confirm that this was possible (and the manager ensuring me Elyse should not have agreed to this,) they scheduled the delivery for 10am to the Bridal Suite. The Food arrived at 11:30am and a staff member delivering the food somehow managed to start a FIRE inches away from our dresses from a hot oil lamp. The employee left the room with no apology OR solution to the smell. We had to have our hired Coordinator track down Elyse to communicate this issue. Overall, our hired vendors were fantastic but we should have gone to The Del.
The venue was absolutely beautiful - most of our guests told us that it was the most beautiful setting they'd been to for a wedding. The hotel was a great resort destination for people to stay and everything to be located in one place. The ballroom was setup really nicely and has the ability to range from a small party to 900 guests. Anna was incredibly helpful with planning - she was always responsive to emails, even on her holiday, and promptly made changes or amendments as needed. I knew I could trust her with any requests and they would be fulfilled. She had great suggestions and did not try to up-sell us. The hotel staff was generally very nice and pleasant to work with and all of our guests had a great time. Can't find a prettier setting!
The Loews Coronado was a magical place to get married! We did our rehearsal dinner (game night theme!) on the beautiful patio overlooking the marina and then our ceremony and reception all at the Loews. The entire staff was so friendly and Anna was so easy to work with! Our guests raved about how delicious the food was (we agree) and the chefs were so accommodating with some food restrictions we had. The ceremony sites were beautiful overlooking the water! We would absolutely recommend the Loews to anyone getting married! Thank you Loews for making our wedding picture perfect! We can’t wait to come back for our 1 year anniversary.
Could not have been happier with how our wedding turned out at the Loews Coronado! There was a new Director of Catering that stepped in about 3 months prior to our wedding date and she went above & beyond for us- Anna & her team were amazing. The venue where we had our ceremony (The Pointe) was just beautiful as you are right on by the bay and the marina and the Constellation Ballroom was the perfect fit for our reception.
Thanks again Loews!
I WISH my (now) wife and I learned about Loews Coronado before searching for the perfect venue. First off, we couldn’t have asked for a more professional and friendly staff. From the event planner, to the rehearsal dinner waitstaff, and all the way to cleanup after the events, we were treated with the upmost respect, friendliness, and the absolute best service. My wife didn’t have to worry about a single detail the day of the wedding. Our event coordinator and waitstaff planned our rehearsal dinner due to last minute changes and everyone (including us) was overwhelmed at how amazing everything was. Our decorative pieces were exactly where they needed to be, when they needed to be there. All of our vendors were expertly coordinated (special mention of Elyse, Debbie, and Jennifer) and the entire day went off without a single pain point. I can’t say enough of how Loews contributed to making our special day not only amazing, but the best day of our lives. The location is breathtaking, but the staff, service, and cleanliness really make Loews one of a kind.
Site is absolutely gorgeous and staff members are all incredibly friendly and professional. The wedding packages are a good deal as they include things like catering, honeymoon suite, etc. which is so important especially for a destination wedding like ours. I do have some complaints however: 1. The site for the cocktail reception was supposed to be at the reception site. We went over this many times and it was included in all the forms I sent to them, yet somehow on the day of there was a bar set up at the ceremony site so that immediately after the wedding the ceremony site was crowded with guests and servers and very chaotic while we were trying to get photos done. This was exactly what I was trying to AVOID when I said I wanted cocktail reception at reception site, not at ceremony site. 2. When meals were served I had only taken 1 bite before being whisked off for photos. When I came back, hungry and excited for this meal that I had chosen, my place had been cleaned up! How does a server see that the bride's meal is almost completely-untouched and just throw it away? The bride is busy - everyone knows this! Why wouldn't they just box it up for me for later? I basically didn't get to eat anything the whole night because while everyone was eating appetizers, I was posing for photos, and while everyone was eating dinner, I was posing for more photos. Unable to eat cake on an empty stomach, or drink on an empty stomach, by the time I went to bed I was hungry and had only had one glass of wine to enjoy the night. 3. From early on I had been talking about decorating the reception area with string lighting and asked if that was something we could do. I was given the green light to decorate with string lighting. It wasn't until just a few weeks before the wedding when my coordinator suggested I double check their light policy that they told me all the restrictions on lighting, said we couldn't hang them ourselves, we couldn't use our own lights, and if we wanted them to do it we would have to pay an additional $1300. I was furious. This is not something you drop on the bride last minute. This is something you should tell the bride when she first asks if she can decorate with string lights! As we couldn't afford $1300 for them to do it, nor $800 for outside vendors to do it, or had any time to come up with alternatives, I had to just skip on the lighting and that was a real bummer. 4. Though parking is free for guests the day of, my maid of honor had to fight in order to make that actually happen. The valets didn't even know there was a wedding going on that day, and when my maid of honor insisted he call and get more info he said he didn't have a list of names or anything. My maid of honor had to go around telling every single guest to specifically insist on free parking because the valets weren't cooperating and validating tickets. I'm sure many of my guests paid for parking unnecessarily, and that is unacceptable.
Overall I don't think this venue actually does a lot of weddings, because they don't seem to understand a bride's need to eat and their communication skills are seriously lacking. It is a beautiful site, but if you want your dream wedding here, be prepared to either to spend extra on charges you weren't warned about or to just give up on certain elements of your dream wedding.
Good stuff: the food is the best I have ever had anywhere. The site is gorgeous. The wedding planning contact is very professional, kind, and sweet.
My newly wedded husband and I stayed Loews Coronado Bay Resort (pretty hotel) for the night of our wedding, we booked a marina view room (which isnt cheap). After having to wait for the only desk rep to finish talking in the small snack shop for 5-10 minutes we were very dissapointed to find the description would have been much more accurate if it said, marina view overlooking the parking lot with the Loews Shuttle Busses. Also when we ordered room service they not only screwed up our order after calling, stating our order was ready, confirming the order and showing up 15 minutes later with a cold and inaccurate order whilst forgetting our drinks. I had such high hopes but the few amenities we used seemed to be lacking.
I planned this wedding in 3 months and Debbie was AMAZING. I had no idea what I was doing and she listened so well and had great intuition about what I'd like best or how to do certain things, just great all around! She was patient, very informative and sensitive to my needs and style - I couldn’t have done it without her. :) The venue is gorgeous and my photos were amazing (partly because of the photographer) but you can't go wrong with the view! They also shuttle you to the beach right next door for photos on the beach if you'd like and mine were gorgeous! Lowes is elegant and beachy, which was exactly the combination I was looking for. Thank you!
Well, I don’t even know where to begin with this. First of all, this venue is beautiful. If you are looking for a vacation spot in San Diego that feels like you are at a beautiful resort, Loews San Diego is your spot. It is also family friendly, and has a super nice and accommodating staff. It also has everything onsite, so you don’t need to leave the resort if you don’t want to. If you do decide to leave the resort- there are free shuttles to downtown Coronado and to the beach. The resort is also walking distance to the beach, and has a nice 5 mile running trail around the island. Now- to the wedding, Debbie Au was our wedding sales manager and she was amazing. Debbie is completely organized, extremely nice, and ready to answer any questions you have as well as recap all of it for you. Honestly, she made it possible for us to have our wedding at the Loews, and made planning a wedding so easy for us. We did a Friday night welcome reception, Saturday ceremony and reception, and Sunday breakfast all at the Loews- with zero complaints. Nothing went wrong, Jesse was our restaurant manager and he was also amazing. All in all, our wedding was perfect, there were no stressors, nothing went wrong, no one was served the wrong food or alcohol, and all food allergies were taken care of. Also, we had a separate room for the kids to have their dinner reception in and Loews not only set up that room for us, they also provided games and toys for the kids. Afterwards, our guests couldn’t believe how beautiful the venue was (most of the out of state people used this chance to take a 4 day vacation), and overall how amazing the whole thing was, the quality of the food, and how perfectly everything turned out. Highly recommend this venue and Debbie Au-she will take care of you.
Loews Coronado went above and beyond on our behalf to create the event that made us and our guests happy. Like many other places, perfection may not be attainable but the staff was always friendly and they put in amazing work to make a dream event happen. The billing was straightforward with no strange questions and every department was easy to deal with. They have some real gems working within their staff that made even the imperfections a little easier to overlook. The scenery is perfection and the environment is so relaxing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and our guests loved their time at the hotel. We would highly recommend Loews Coronado.
K&P
I don't even know where to start when it comes to describing my experience with Loews. My husband and I could not have expected nor anticipated the quality of service we received from this venue. Every detail was thought of and taken care of. They were extremely accommodating, friendly, and always available to assist with questions. I could not have dreamed of a better day! Debbie and Danielle were the two wonderful ladies that helped us through this entire journey and I could not possibly put into words how wonderful they were! When it came down to it, the venue was STUNNING, the food was unforgettably delicious (we still have guests telling us it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding), and guests also noted how wonderful the service from staff was!!! Our families felt extremely welcomed when they checked into the resort and loved all of the amenities that came with staying as a guest. We also booked Mistral, their onsite restaurant, for our rehearsal dinner and that was another service to rave about. I honestly felt like a princess during this whole process and if my husband and I had to do it all over again, we would without a doubt, choose Loews Coronado Bay Resort as our venue!! We will definitely be returning for a few nights for our one year anniversary!!
Had my 2/15/15 wedding at Loews Coronado and it was a dream come true. The indoor and outdoor space are gorgeous. The staff and service I received made all the difference in my planning. Have folks on sight that were so knowledgable, helpful, prompt and invested made planning everything so much easier and enjoyable. I cannot say enough about how great it was to be a Loews Bride.
We stayed here, and I made reservations for myself to get my hair and makeup done for my wedding. I added my (now) stepdaughter to have her makeup and hair done about a week prior to the event, and Loews accommodated my request. And although my new family member is gorgeous, her stylist accentuated her amazing looks! My stylist was also amazing - this appointment was the start of an amazing day!!
I just had my ceremony & reception at Loews in Coronado and it was absolutely amazing! The food, service, scenery were all great. Deanna Jones helped us through the whole process and was super responsive and on top of EVERYTHING! All of our guests (about 175) had a great time.
Deanna is truly the best. My husband and I were married in August 2014 and from start to finish she made me feel like I was her only bride. She has a true heart of gold and was able to make our wedding simply perfect. She has impeccable taste, attention to detail, and outstanding professionalism. Deanna made sure that all of our needs were met and more leading up to our Big Day and beyond. When we arrived at Loews for our first tour, Deanna welcomed us with open arms and was able to provide amazing service and class. From the front desk, to the bellmen, to servers- they always aim to please. Loews has perfect views of San Diego and the food was flavorful with thoughtful presentation. I would recommend Loews to anyone looking for their dream fairytale wedding. Deanna and her staff truly know how to make your wedding dreams come true!
My husband and I got married at the Loews Coronado Resort in August and it was an absolute dream come true! From the moment we had our first tour of the venue, I knew in my heart I found the perfect place to get married. We both wanted something with an ocean/bay view (after all, we live in San Diego) but I wanted something formal and elegant and my husband wanted something outside and would make our guests feel like they were at a destination wedding. Loews was more than what we could imagine! Our first walk-through was with Deanna and after you meet all other venue coordinators, no one will ever compare to her. She really took the time to listen to what was important to us and throughout our entire engagement, she made us feel like we were the only couple she was working with. She and all of the staff at Loews are genuine and go above and beyond to make your day perfect. The views are outstanding, the hotel is gorgeous, our guests still rave at how good the food was, and the service was unbelievable. You have the ability to customize every detail to fit your needs, whether you're having a small intimate wedding or a large wedding, there are so many options you can choose from that fit your needs. Most brides find wedding planning stressful and overwhelming, but Loews takes care of everything and helps you enjoy the celebration along the way. Finally, don't forget to find time to sneak away and snap some pictures of the gondola :)
I recently got married at Loews Coronado and I cannot say enough good things about them! It was the most perfect venue I could have ever picked. Deanna Jones, the director of catering, is amazing! She was one of my favorite elements of my whole wedding experience at Loews-absolutely love her. My guests couldn't stop raving about how beautiful the venue was and happy they were to be staying there. It was picture perfect : ) Loews Coronado was more than I could have dreamed of! Do yourself a favor and book your special day with them!
I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Loews Coronado Bay Resort! Their amazing views of Coronado Bay and the San Diego skyline made an absolutely breathtaking backdrop for our wedding ceremony (held on the Bay Terrace). Our reception was held in the Constellation Ballroom and it was a gorgeous compliment to the ceremony with cool ocean blues and sandy tans...and those chandeliers, oh my-they are sooo pretty! A huge bonus is the adjacent outdoor patio to cool off from all that dancing.
The entire resort is utterly beautiful and speaks for itself, but what sets this hotel apart is their incredible service. My veil is off to their superb Director of Catering, Deanna Jones. She won me and my husband (then fiancée) over from the first time we met. She was there for me through every step of the planning process and I can't thank her and her wonderful staff enough (I'm talking to you Danielle!) for all of their assistance. The banquets team was also wonderful, courteous and never missed a beat; a big thanks to Jesse and Carlos here.
Last, but certainly not least, the food was AMAZING! We received rave reviews from our guests about how good the food was at the wedding and the rehearsal dinner (RD was also hosted at Loews). But let me tell you that the good food doesn't end with the catering/banquet department. We stayed at the Loews for four nights and had plenty of opportunities to eat at the resort. The Market has delicious breakfast; my favorites are the Chilequiles (sp?) and Crab Cake Benedict, both oh so good! We had dinner at Mistral the last night of our wedding weekend...best filet of my life!
Our wedding weekend was perfect in every way! My husband and I are beyond happy with our decision to host our wedding at Loews Coronado Bay and highly recommend them. Their hospitality elevated our wedding experience above and beyond anything we could have hoped for. Thank you for making our dream wedding a reality!!!
Our experience with Loews from start to finish was incredible. The venue is beautiful and the staff is super friendly and helpful! Our guests had nothing but good things to say about them.
I worked directly with Deanna Jones on every little detail. Anytime I needed anything she was quick to respond and was super helpful with anything and everything. She made it known that it was mine and my fiancés big day and she did an awesome job making us feel special.
We chose to have a small, intimate ceremony in the Citrus Garden, which was beautiful and comfortable for our guests. We had our reception in Mistral as we wanted a small wedding. The lighting in Mistral was perfect with the big beautiful windows with a view of the bay. The chef, Adam Cho, was also really great to work with. We were offered a trial dinner months before the wedding so we could taste test all the food options and Adam came out to greet us and explain each of the items. I thought it was an excellent touch that they use items from their herb and Citrus Garden in their food! It was totally my style. We also left our cake there (as we left straight from the hotel to go on our honeymoon) and he packaged it up for us and kept it in their freezer until we were able to come pick it up. (So awesome of them!)
I also had my bridal shower/bachelorette party the Thursday before our wedding (to make the plans easier on everyone coming into town for the wedding) that my sister, with Deanna's help, had planned. Deanna gave he suggestions and did everything she could to make it feel special. She had champagne sent out to me and all my bridesmaids after dinner and on the day of the wedding, I was able to relax as Deanna took care of everything and made sure everything was set up for us. She sent a bottle of champagne to my room with a sweet note that made me tear up, she was really awesome. I didn’t feel like a stranger was planning my wedding, I felt like a longtime friend was there to take care of everything every step of the way and calm me down when I felt anxious about the planning. That was nice since my bridesmaids don’t live close. And despite some pretty serious personal matters she was experiencing during the time she was there with me every step of the way and was there to watch me walk down the aisle and make sure everything went off without a hitch!
Our families are from out of town so everyone made a weekend out of it. (I would recommend not booking in the summer months as pricing is a bit higher for your guests, but it’s really worth it if you do.) I received only compliments and ‘thank yous’ for having the wedding there. Everyone tells me that it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever been to. (This was all on Loews as I only had a few flowers placed on each table. That was my only personal touch, really. Mistral took care of everything else and it was really beautiful.)
Needless to say, everything was perfect and I’m so happy we went with Loews for our wedding venue! Love love love them all!
This venue is 5 stars all around!! And DeAnna Jones is the best reason to book this place! She is amazing to work with, and it was a complete pleasure working with her from day 1 to the end. I had 150 guests in from out of town stay at the hotel - all I heard was rave reviews - the hotel, the pool, the staff, the rooms, the food, the restaurants, everything was amazing! I would do my wedding over here 10 times over! Constellation ballroom and the terrace are amazing for reception and cocktail hour - we loved everything about this place!
After several disappointing tours of places we had thought would be ideal, walking into the gorgeous atrium of Loews Coronado's lobby was the beginning of a dream come true. The setting and the views are incredible and decoration by themselves. Deanna, the main coordinator, is phenomenal to work with and really made the whole experience so easy. The only answers we ever got were, "Yes, we can find a way to do that." It didn't hurt that the price was among the best we had seen. Being able to have our reception in the Mistral restaurant was the icing on the cake, since Chef Adam's food is truly incredible. We said goodbye to your average wedding meal and hello to gourmet service for our guests. To quote my mother, "I had so much fun at your wedding, from the very moment I stepped off the plane 'til the moment I left."
I recently got married at Loews and I have to say that my husband & I were pleased with the location and service provided. The Catering Director, Deanna Jones, is great to work with and she is very accommodating. Deanna works above and beyond to meet your expectations and make it a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend Loews as it is a beautiful property and the quality of food is great. All my guests were also pleased with the ceremony and reception ballroom. Overall, it was a great experience for everyone at my wedding.
I am so happy I had my wedding at Loews! It was extremely beautiful and Deanna is awesome! She is the best to work with!
My new husband and I got married at Loews Coronado Bay May 31 and absolutely loved the resort and everyone there who made our special day possible. First of all I must thank Deanna (director of catering) and her assistant Andrea. From day one of our planning last August, they have both been there to assit us in any way possible. Deanna was so easy and fun to work with. She went above and beyond our expectations! Chrissy and Kelly was awesome in assisting me and my guests with our room block. I added to our block at least 3 times with a total of about 45 rooms the night of our wedding. They kept me informed of the current list and was so accomodating to us!. Lastly, Anna at the market cafe was so awesome in hosting my husband and I and our family the morning after for the breakfast buffet. Initially there wasn't enough room but she immediately fixed that and turned out to be a beautiful breakfast.
Now on to the fun stuff. I love this resort! I loved our suite overlooking the bay. I love the bay terrace where our cermemony took place. So romantic and private. My husband and I looked all over SD for a venue for our wedding and although all the resorts are private, the beaches around them aren't. We didn't want to have people in their bathing suits in the background of our ceremnony photos! The view from the bay terrace is of the bay not the beach, but just as romantic. The constellation ballroom is beautiful and very spacious with a terrace attached for our guests to step out and get some fresh air. With our wedding package we got a couples massage at the spa wich was much needed after the weekend! Also, we were able to use the gondola for photos after the ceremony. So much fun!
The only complaint I have is that our suite and some of our guests rooms smelled like dog urine. I guess thats a downfall for the resort being pet friendly. But the beautiful rooms and bathrooms with huge bath tub makes up for that. Overall we could not have asked for a better wedding location. We will definitly be returning for a weekend getaway!. I hope this helps any future brides!
This place is amazing. Me and my husband live in New York(fiance at the time) and went to San Diego on vacation. As soon as we got there we knew that this was the place we wanted to get married. We started to look at Hotels we came across Loews Coronado Bay Resort. We met with Deanna Jones and instantly fell in love with her and the place. We knew this was the place to get married in front of our friends and family. Deanna was amazing at explaining all of the packages with us and answering all of our questions. The hotel has amazing views of the ocean and the Coronado Bridge. When we checked in to the Hotel for the wedding we felt like family. Everyone took great care of us. The day of the wedding Deanna made sure I had a drink in my hand while talking to my husband about the days plan. I knew that the wedding was going to be amazing and it was! It was a dream come true and can not wait to go back, just to say hi to Deanna Jones who is amazing!!!
This place was amazing! I hosted my wedding at this resort on New Year's Eve and everything was perfect. We had a small intimate wedding only about 65 people and the hotel still treated us like a top priority. I worked closely with Deanna Jones in catering and she was so helpful she answered all of my questions and concerns and went above and beyond her job. She was patient when we had family members decide to come at the last minute and even helped us plan an amazing midnight surprise for our guests. She even made sure we had our favorite candy bars and deserts for the smores bar. Everything was perfect and I can't wait to go back with my husband for our first anniversary.
This is an update on my 9/21/13 wedding at Loews. I LOVE this place. I couldn't have asked for a better, more gorgeous, relaxing venue for our ceremony and reception. The entire staff at Loews is incredibly friendly, hospitable and helpful. Chrissy helped us with our block of rooms and made sure we were receiving the best rates possible for our guests. She even helped coordinate with the bar manager to get my parents a fire pit reservation the night prior to my wedding. Jill in Catering was very helpful and organized throughout the menu selection process and with all of the logistics the month prior. I had a hospitality suite on the water to get ready in the morning of - highly recommended - it's HUGE! Also, we stayed in the adjoining suite the night of our wedding - equally as huge and has beautiful SD skyline views. We should have stayed an extra night. Now, the waitstaff for the day of - OMG. They were amazing!! I held in all of my tears the day prior, during the ceremony, etc. But the minute we finished our walk down the aisle as husband and wife, the waitstaff greeted us with our signature his and hers drinks. And I lost it. It was such a rush of emotion and it was the exact thing I needed - a giant alcoholic drink. I couldn't be more grateful for that. Once we got to the reception and sat down, the waitstaff had setup some of our cocktail hour treats for us to have while we waited for our salad. We never had to ask for refills - they took care of it all for us. At the end of the night, they carefully packed up all of our decorations, making sure to not throw out something we really wanted (I was there to witness it). I don't think this review is doing the entire staff at Loews justice. They are all amazing and they made our big day perfect. We have gotten so many compliments on how gorgeous and perfect the ceremony and reception were - spectacular views, relaxing venue, beautiful ballroom, etc. I think this was one of the best wedding decisions we made. Thanks, Loews! See you on our 1 year anniversary!!
I had my wedding ceremony and reception at Loews Coronado Bay Resort. Everything turned out great! The staff was very attentive and helpful. They were very flexible with how I wanted things set up which made the planning a lot more smooth for me. They recently remodeled the lobby area and the staircase was GREAT for photos.I didn't have one issue on my wedding day with Loews.
The only thing I didn't like was that in order to block rooms for your guests you had to pay for a block of 10 rooms for 2 nights each! Most of my guests lived in the area and there was no way I was going to ask them to pay $180 each night just to come to my wedding. So, my husband just booked a handful of rooms for one night, six months in advance, at a low rate so we can guarantee some of our guests a room. It's a smaller resort so the rooms sold out by June.
All of our guests were blown away by our hotel block . This hotel has tremendous views and amazing amenities. Highly recommend!
We had a destination wedding to San Diego and all of our guests stayed at Loews. The service was excellent from start to finish, and they made it easy to plan a wedding from out-of-town. We also had a brunch for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary that was excellent. Amanda, Gabriela, and Melissa made my life so much easier!!
The coordinator was a pleasure to work with. The hotel is very accommodating with many things to do.
First of all, the staff who put together group sales was fantastic and wonderfully accommodating! She made our stay there even better! The rooms were fantastic and loved the pool area! I hope when we return we can stay here again!
I got married last month at the Loews in Coronado. I am very satisfied with my choice. We looked at about 20 venues and chose the Loews because it is somehow casual and elegant all at once. We spent the whole weekend there and so did most of our guests. It felt like more of an entire wedding weekend than a wedding day. The staff treated me like royalty all weekend. Upon my check-in, I was greeted by Carlos, a manager at the hotel. He gave me his business card and his cell number and told me to call anytime, day or night, if I need anything at all. The wedding was beautiful. We got married on the Bay Terrace and had the reception in the Constellation Ballroom. The food was delicious, the Loews staff worked so well with my vendors, it was like they were all in business together. Each night, when I got back to my suite, there was some sort of surprise waiting for me- One day it was margaritas and nachos, another champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, etc. I wouldn't have changed a thing.
