My fiancee and I came to look at the venue! The whole visit was literally 7 minutes! The representative only showed us one room and didn't even go over pricing or the packages! Every other venue we had toured went over the packages and showed us all other rooms available because they're aware guest count can always change. They literally handed us the folder after showing us ONE banquet hall and sent us on our way! The next day we had an appointment with Altadena country club and booked there instead. Defiantly such an upgrade with staffing there. Save your money and go elsewhere!
Everything was perfect. Maria worked really well with us and did everything she could to meet our needs. Highly recommend. The food, the service, the views were amazing!
I would say if you want to use this place for your wedding or an event I would suggest not using them at all. But if you really want to use them I would suggest seeing if Debbie Dominguez the Director of Catering is available. Do not use anyone else at that place. We had the pleasure of dealing with Michelle at Luminarias. She was fantastic at first when we had prepaid the entire event off but when it came down to four months before our wedding, nothing. We sent emails and left message but with no response. All we got were excuses of how busy she was and apologies. We could not even get our pictures of what our tables would look like. After several attempts we were transferred to another person. He did not seem to do anything either. Finally, Debbie came to the rescue. We finalize everything with her. I, personally, would not use this place again. Only if they gave us a discount. We were treated like we were nobody's. This was our wedding and we did not take priority even when it was months away. I guess once they got the money they didn't care. That was not right. We wanted to go back for our one year anniversary and renew our vows there also in ten years. But in what happened, we will have to find another place to do this at. Be careful!
Our wedding reception was at Luminarias, and we had the grand ballroom, everything was perfect. The set up, was breath taking with the chandeliers and lighting. The food was delicious and the staff was great. They truly took care of us and our entire guest. I got so many compliments for the reception, everyone was blown away.
Selected this location more so because they offered all inclusive packages and the customer service we received from Norma was phenomenal. Throughout the entire process, she was a godsend. The same can be said for the wait staff and the bartender we selected for our wedding. The outdoor patio and gazebo don't initially look like much but the florist was able to transform them both and it all looked amazing. Luminarias overs a generous selection of vendors for cakes and photography and music but only 1 for flowers, that was an issue, but I will review them separately.
The food was mediocre at best. The dishes we sampled at our 2 tastings was fantastic( tilapia & Swai in a spicy mango relish and prime rib) but what our guest were actually served was no where near the quality of what we sampled. The prime rib was smothered in a gravy that was not present during the tasting and the meat was tough while the original serving had been juicy and tender. I'm not usually a red meat eater and based on the tasting I had encouraged guests to select prime rib for their dinner! The same can be said for the Swai. A dish that was juicy and flavorful at the tasting, was rubbery at the wedding.
The location was nice enough, the drinks were just right. Not too strong but not watered down... The customer service was amazing but the food was overpriced and not at all to my liking. My wedding was still lovely, my guest have a fantastic time, but if I could do it again I would pick a different vendor
Everything went very well, very nice people to work with. Great price.
Loved the ambiance on this place. We felt the romatic mood even though our wedding happened at lunch time :-)
The wedding reception was beautiful. Luminarias had some beautiful panoramic views, but the staff kept changing throughout the year. My fiance and I were worried about the reception but everything turned out fine. The guests raved about the food that it was really good. However, my fiance and I decided to go with the buffet instead of a sit down meal. The only thing we didn't like was that there was a lot of food left and Luminarias staff did not let us take the food home, they threw everything away. My mother was a bit disappointed because they also didn't want to let us take our own cake, that we had brought over. In the end the staff only let us take the top layer because it was written in the contract. Other than that everything was fine.
Great View and great food;Catering Staff is not always accomodating or available for you. Waiters were great though.Catering recommended a photographer to me who badmouthed the staff at the restaurant. A little unprofessional if you ask me
Everyone raved about the food - we selected brunch, and the restaurant allowed our whole wedding party to partake of the regular buffet they serve, which has over 100 different things to choose from. In addition, parking was complimentary.;Last minute (we did not find out until we showed up for the ceremony) they changed the salon we had agreed upon to my least prefered.
We loved the price...it was a great value for all that was offered. It was a good site as well. The restuarant had a lot of mexican style charm and the rooms were well decorated. The design of the room was good too; location of dance floor, food, tables, etc. The outdoor part of the site was nice too especially for pictures. It was set on a hill.;This is a very popular wedding location because of its value so be prepared to see other brides since they host two to four weddings at one time (they have mutliple reception rooms). As my husband says, 'the claws were out as the brides passed eachother.' So make sure you look stunning and have the best dress on!
