My first camera purchase was in college, and after years of social pressure to pursue photography as more than a hobby, I finally listened. Over the last 8 years I have shot: bloggers, fashion, creative portraits, couples, engagements, events, and now weddings! Marcus is simply the best! If he’s available, book immediately. You’ll be glad you did. Marcus could easily charge double for the quality of his work but does it out of passion on the side. You’ll have to ask him what got him into wedding photography. Marcus is incredibly generous with his time and met with us multiple times throughout the process. He went out of his way to meet everyone else we were working with and really helped to bring the whole day together, including building a day of run of show. On request, he also brought in a second photographer that was also fantastic! We were so comfortable with Marcus and everything went off flawlessly. We can’t say enough good things or recommend more highly.

We planned our wedding from overseas and were unable to meet with vendors in person. From the outset Marcus was composed, organized, and helpful to the process. He helped us with our timing, photo lists, logistics, and because we did not do a day of coordinator, picked up the slack on the day just because he knew what needed to be done and wanted us to have an amazing time. Marcus brought such a positive energy that removed the stress and made everything that much smoother. Overall he was professional, personable and we heartily recommend him and would go to him again should we need a photographer in the area.

We can’t say enough positive things about Marcus. Right away, he was friendly, communicative, and helpful – we hired him before we’d thought much about the way the wedding would go, and he talked us through several possible wedding timelines and what his role in each would look like. We also did engagement photos with him, which let us get to know him a little better. Both of us can look awkward in photos, but he made us so comfortable that we both look relaxed and happy. On our wedding day, Marcus was a tour de force; he helped keep everyone on schedule while still keeping it fun and light, and was just a truly joyful presence. We just got our photos back last week and they look great! We’re still choosing which ones we want printed in our album (sorry Marcus!) because so many of them turned out really well. We highly recommend him to anyone looking for a very talented photographer who is exceptionally well organized and more than capable of taking charge when needed!

We loved our experience with Marcus and M.Carter Photography! I was initially drawn to Marcus' ability to capture the authentic nature of events and emotions throughout the wedding day. And we received just that for our wedding day! We used Marcus for both our engagement shoot and wedding day. Marcus is professional, communicative, and you really get the feeling that he cares about giving his clients the best experience and photos based on what you want. He has great wedding packages, including offering more time on site than other competitors. Everything about working with Marcus is LOVELY — from the first phone call, to our engagement photos, to our elopement photos. I was initially anxious about hiring a photographer, especially since (1) I had no idea where to start and (2) we were eloping so these were going to be *the* thing to mark the day. He was my first phone call and within 5 minutes of talking to him I was sold. I only had two broad (vague) ideas for what I wanted and he took them and turned them into plans I could be excited about. Ultimately, our engagement photos involved a last minute location change and our elopement photos ended up needing a schedule change. Marcus was nothing but responsive and encouraging through everything. He was ready with new ideas and managed to keep me excited when I'd have otherwise been really stressed. I’m not sure anyone else would have been so flexible while also staying so warm and kind. And of course, the photos are gorgeous. He manages to talk to you and make you laugh and feel like you’re just hanging out while also capturing a thousand (literally) photos. The last time my husband or I had professional photos taken we were probably in high school, but Marcus was a pro at making us feel comfortable. His eye is great and he sees things we’d have never thought of, to beautiful results. I’ve already told my husband when we need photos for anything in the future, we’re calling Marcus. 12/10 recommend. Giving him glowing reviews is going to be my new hobby, and if you work with him it’ll be yours too.

I’ve been following this photographer for awhile and ultimately decided to go with. Let me tell you, this artist is the *absolute* best to work with. He is so intuitive, professional, and beyond easy to work with. Planning a wedding is hard as is but I was not privy to what goes in behind the scenes. Marcus does and he captured so many gorgeous shots that I wasn’t aware of until after the event! Marcus is amazing! We made the right decision to hire him to photograph our elopement at Annapolis. He knows the area so well because he had done similar job before thus he is able to recommend several scenic spots for beautiful background. Marcus arrived early, scouted the areas and planned the routes - this small gesture left a big impact on us as we don't have to stress on where and how to go from one location to another. We don't have to think about anything - just enjoy ourselves being photographed by him! It was so easy to deal with him from the start and he made us comfortable with him, his communication was seamless and he scheduled time to get to know us and our expectations. He explained his pricing and turnaround time and I must say that it is very worth it to have him as our photographer because his photos are beautifully and tastefully done and the turnaround time is so quick. We were lucky enough to see Marcus’s final product for a friend’s engagement shoot and I contacted him right away. Our wedding ceremony photos were just as stunning. We are so glad we had Marcus capture our special day. The quality of his work and his sheer photography talent are just top-notch. What really blew us away, though, was everything that went into making the final product. Marcus’s attention to detail, communication, and care throughout the process was so impressive. He sat with me on a call to piece together our vision, worked through different pricing proposals to ensure we were comfortable, and even scouted out the location to ensure he could capture the day perfectly. I’ve known Marcus for over 20+ plus years. I’m not only proud to say he’s my best friend, but he is a brother to me. He is a fantastic photographer and a great person! I know what you’re thinking….this will be a biased review! Why wouldn’t he give anything but 5 stars all around?!! That could be true. BUT…For me…the memories that Marcus has helped capture with his photos….is PRICELESS. You’re probably thinking I get free photos…NOPE. I have Marcus treat and charge me as he would for any other customer. He has done my wedding, three family shoots, my step-daughters graduation pictures, and he’ll be my photographer for any photography needs moving forward. His pictures are on my work laptop, phone, and in custom frames all over our house. I would recommend him 100 out of 100 times and I’m sure if Steve Harvey survived 100 people they say the same. Choosing the right photographer for your wedding is one of the most important decisions you will make in the planning process – after all, the wedding photos are going to be your lasting keepsake! Marcus was the PERFECT choice for capturing the spirit and beauty of our wedding day! Everyone who has seen my photos has been totally blown away by the quality of his work. Marcus is the epitome of what you want in a photographer: professional, creative, understanding, and most importantly a fantastic listener. Marcus and Sandy were amazing on our wedding day! We had several planning meetings ahead of time and a pretty specific shot list and they were extremely accommodating. Both Sandy and Marcus made us feel very comfortable, even in poses that felt weird! They're also very passionate about their work. I believe in total they took 8,000 pictures on our wedding day!! They captured sweet moments, silly moments, and touching moments very well. We really enjoyed working with them.

Marcus was the best wedding photographer we could have imagined! My husband and I are pretty uncomfortable on camera, but Marcus got us laughing and relaxed and we look totally happy and comfortable in the pictures -- which is also how we felt. He had incredible ideas for shots, and was organized, professional, and really fun throughout the whole event. And the pictures were amazing! They captured the essence of the wedding, and we will treasure them forever. I would recommend him to anyone!

Marcus is a good friend of my husband and now, me. We were so blessed and lucky to have Marcus photograph our reception. He was a joy to have around and be a part of our celebration, as well as a focused photographer that refused to step out of “work mode.” He totally worked with us and welcomed our vision. He captured the atmosphere and some epic family shots that we never would’ve had otherwise. The private shots of my husband and I are just stunning. Marcus is absolutely phenomenal! Not only is he professional and easy to work with, but he makes sure to customize your overall experience to you. His calm yet pleasant demeanor will make you feel like you’re just hanging out with an old friend. My fiancé and I were able to be ourselves as he captured photos of the pure simplistic nature of our relationship. His work will provide you with moments that you will cherish for years to come. Marcus is exceptional to work with! I've shot with Marcus on a styled shoot recently. He really gets to know his subject(s)' vision and flawlessly brings it to life. I love how comfortable he made me while shooting and he's excellent at communicating direction throughout the shoot. Marcus is truly the best photographer I’ve worked with. I truly wish I had discovered him before my wedding or you can best believe he would’ve been my photographer. He truly takes the time to understand what the client needs and wants in their shoot and their pictures. He has an eye for art. His photography is pure art to say the least. He will be my photographer for all my future events. The memories he captures are something you will look back at and have zero regrets. Marcus was the photographer at my niece 's wedding. The family and guests were very impressed with his thoughtfulness and professional manner. He helped the wedding party use the available lighting of the venue without being obtrusive and everyone enjoyed working with him. The pictures came out beautifully and reflected the warm atmosphere of the day.
