Wow, I wish I had read the reviews. As others have stated, this was an utterly bizarre experience (condescending attitude, prolonged periods left alone in a dress or with no dress, invasive questions). Apparently, Mary designs her own dresses - though it doesn't say that anywhere on her website and only lists the more well-known designers she carries. Therefore, I went to this shop hoping to see some Maggie Sottero, Allure, Sophia Tolli, etc. dresses. In my nearly THREE HOUR appointment I tried on ONE dress by any of these designers and three by Mary (four dresses in three hours). When I finally tried on a dress that I did like, but didn't want to commit to, Mary asked me "what more do [you] want" and "what will it take to make this the dress". Then said we would keep going until I found "the one". When I expressed I would like the chance to peruse the racks myself and choose some, she was clearly frustrated and basically dismissed me after that, telling me to let an attendant know if I'd like to pull one. After I tried on the fourth dress (with the very kind attendant), I decided I had seen enough to think about. I asked to see Mary to confirm pricing; when she came back out she said "what more can I answer for you?" and insisted that the prices were on the tags (I was only allowed to see one dress tag, when I was with the attendant, and it had two prices listed, picture attached). I was also told her designs were "named after the bride that purchases them and don't have style numbers", but this tag is clearly labeled with a style number. She gave me the prices, disingenuously said "it was nice meeting you" and showed myself, my mother, and my future mother-in-law out. No "we have your style numbers saved" or "please call us when you decide". It was my fourth bridal appointment and completely unlike my other three. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Upon arrival we were greeted by Mary the owner. She began our appointment by saying that we were very late (it's January) to be prom dress shopping and that most girls order their prom dresses in August. This was her first attempt at creating an unnecessary sense of urgency and panic with my 16 year old daughter. She then proceeded to go on and on about all of "her" dresses and connections she had with designers. She never asked my daughter what style, color, etc. she was looking. Finally my daughter was allowed to select 3 dresses that she wanted to try on. The first dress that my daughter tried on was gorgeous, but it was the first prom dress that she had ever tried on. My daughter tried on the other 2 dresses that she was allowed to select. One associate brought over a few more dresses. While my daughter was trying on the other dresses Mary the owner circled through a few times and said to me "why is she trying on so many dresses, she is just going to confuse herself. " I explained to her that my daughter needs to go through a process of elimination to ensure that she is making the right choice. Once she had the first dress back on Mary came out and said that it was not fitting her properly and began pinning the dress. She then asked her if she was saying yes to the dress and my daughter said "I'm not sure". Mary said "what don't you know" and again started saying how late we were to be getting a prom dress and that there will be no dresses available. She said again "are you saying yes to the dress". I said we don't even know the price of the dress. Mary acted like I was crazy asking for the price. The associate found the tag and said that the dress was $995. Mary said and then there is a $299 fee for the custom fitting and $100 shipping fee. She said that we needed to pay in full and that she needed a copy of both of our drivers license. There was also a clause in the dress contract stating that you cannot dispute the credit card charge. At this point there were way too many red flags. I explained to Mary that we needed to discuss this with my daughter's father before we made a purchase. Mary snapped and started saying "I don't know why you are acting like this, I explained all this to you." That was a total lie, the $299 custom fitting fee and $100 shipping fee were never mentioned and she slipped them in at the last minute. Mary then proceeded to tell my daughter to come down from the runway. She followed my daughter into the fitting room and began ripping the dress off of my daughter. She was yelling " l don't understand why your mother won't buy you this dress, she is torturing you". She then came out of the fitting room with the dress and said to me "why are you doing this, you are only hurting your daughter". My daughter came out the of the fitting room crying. I thanked the other associates and got my daughter the heck out of there. The other associates working in the store were lovely and visibly uncomfortable around Mary the owner and the way she spoke to customers. After this horrible experience we connected with a few other dress shops that carried the dress that my daughter tried on and had ripped off of her by Mary. The other shops had the dress in stock and were shipping free of charge. And the dress was a priced at $590. The EXACT dress that Mary has marked up to $995. The other dress shops they shared that Jovani does not even offer custom sizing, so Mary's $299 custom fitting fee was a total scam.
For more accurate description of Mary’s, PLEASE read the Yelp reviews. I wish I had. Mary makes people write good reviews in the store to “win a contest”.
My honest review:
Not sure where to start with my Mary’s wedding dress experience but it was horrible. Mary told me if I couldn’t find my dress that day at her store then I wouldn’t find it anywhere. I ended up saying yes to a “custom” dress because I didn’t find one I loved and she sold me on a combination of dresses. Red flag #1 should have been when she asked me to write a 5 star Google review while sitting next to me at my appointment to “enter some contest”. I told her I don’t write reviews before receiving a product. Red flag #2 should have been that you pay 100% up front and there is a line in the contract that says you can’t dispute this credit card charge. I learned later that is not an industry standard. But, I was excited about my potential dress and didn’t see the red flags at the time. The dress I ended up receiving was HORRIBLE. After 2 alterations appointments at Mary’s, I brought it to a different alterations shop to get a second opinion and they were mortified. They showed me all the things wrong with the dress and where Mary’s had cut corners. They could not believe that Mary charged me $3000. I ended up not wearing that dress on my wedding day because the experience left such a bad taste and the issues with it would have been expensive to fix. When I finally found a different wedding dress at a different shop the experience was night and day. Not to mention that dress was $1400 total with no crazy contracts, a steal compared to Mary’s custom garbage. Mary is pushy and will do what it takes to make a sale that day. Hopefully this saves someone else the headache and money with their wedding dress journey.
Had an appointment with Mary the owner. She was about a half hour late. When she arrived we sat down and she talked about herself and dress materials for about an hour. She took 25 mins to pin me into a dress and then walked away for about 30 mins, came back and said “so are you saying yes?” It was literally the first dress I tried on and I clearly didn’t like it. I tried on 2 dresses in 3 hours. Also you’re not allowed to look at the dresses. Mary has to pick it for you and bring it to you. I feel like people could be easily manipulated by her and the entire “appointment” was a huge waste of time.
Went to the next store, tried on about 6 dresses that I picked out and found the one! Go somewhere else don’t waste your time.
Mary spent a lot of time talking with me and asking what type of gown I wanted. I found Mary’s through one of the designers I really liked Sottero. Mary assured me that she was the largest carrier of Sottero and Midgley. On the day of the appointment Mary was 15 minutes late. She said she had all these dresses picked out for us so we didn’t even need to look. She told me to put a robe on and she had to go take measurements for someone an hour later she came in with a dress. I was ushered out to the floor room where she had me do all these yoga moves then disappeared for another 45 minutes to take another measurement. When she came back she said okay you are saying yes. I said no I would like to try on more. She began to get snippy with me and said well how many dresses have you tried in before coming here. I said I guess around 20 and she said brides only try on 5 so this is it. I insisted I try on one more. She pulled a dress that was the exact opposite of what I was looking for she pinned me in it and left for another 30 minutes saying she was taking a measurement. I did not like the dress but couldn’t take it off since it was all safety pinned so I had to sit in this dress in the fitting room to wait for her to come back. I asked to have this dress taken off and she said oh good we will put you in the first one and take pictures. I said no and she demanded to know why. I immediately left. Tried on only 2 dresses in 3 hours and none were the designer I wanted!!
I arrived early and was told to come back at the time of appointment, which was at 1pm. At 12:59 we had arrived and the door was now locked, and were greeted by Mary and were sat down. Now we were made aware they were “running late”, which I was fine with at first. But what you would think would be a 15 minute wait, took way over 45 minutes well into our original scheduled time. Only Mary greeted us, which was appreciated. But Kiki who was going to help us did not greet us at all. At 1:45pm, I promptly left as they did not abide by the scheduled time. They also did not care that we were leaving, and that’s fine, I’ll take my business elsewhere. I do not recommend this place.
DO NOT GO!! Horrible experience. Mary was 30 minutes late to the appointment, did absolutely no prep work even after sending styles and dresses I liked (because I was asked to do so) and I even gave them a list of dresses I found on their website and she dismissed it totally. While we were waiting we were looking at the disarray of dresses and got scolded for doing so.
Once Mary finally graced us with her presence, she did nothing but talk down to me and the entire group I was there with. Now I decided to give it one more chance and went finally went back into the changing room. HUGE MISTAKE!! When i got back there she continued to talk down to me and then she began to body shame. Telling me how she was “worried” about the dresses I like because they wouldn’t fit my body type and picked apart my body.
I will NEVER suggest this store. I highly recommend staying away. I left in tears and she had no remorse or understanding of the situation. The entire store is a complete mess and horribly managed. Save yourself the heartache and aggravation.
Terribly overpriced for knock off dresses. Pressured into buying on the spot and just overall not the right dress for me. I went in for alterations and knew it was t the dress and was still pressured. Just received the altered dress and it is uneven and destroyed.
Extremely overpriced for the quality. I was charged 2k for a jumpsuit that ultimately fit me no better than something off the rack from Antrhopologie. The store carried almost none of the designers they advertised online. When I was assured that they could make something to my specifications, my specifications were not communicated to the seamstresses and my measurements were taken wayyyyyy off. While they did take the time to attempt to fix it, it was not the "fit like a glove" I expected from something so pricey.
Terrible, heart breaking experience! I couldn’t even try on dresses I wanted to.. it’s Mary’s way or no way.
Unfortunately I am not able to post my full review here, but you can see it on their yelp or Facebook page. This place is a scam and full of horrible, rude people. We overpaid for a dress that I fell in love with, just to be handed a butchered version of the original floor sample I tried on. My body was put down by Mary the entire time I was in the dressing room, and as someone with body dysmorphia, it was a terrible experience. Mary give me a chemical burn on my arm because she “had been cleaning her ring before coming in to work with me and was trying to get all the chemicals off” (she said this to me). Do not go here.
I never write reviews, but this was such an upsetting experience for my daughter (bride to be) that I wanted to save others from the same experience. Mary, the owner helped us. She tried to pressure her into buying a gown. She literally told us we had 3 minutes to decide. When my daughter said she wanted to think about it for a few days, Mary became curt, had her take the gown off and then moved onto other customers. She let my daughter try on only 2 gowns and we were only there for about 40 minutes, so it is not like we were being difficult customers.
My consultation with Mary was great. The first dress I tried on at Mary's, after trying on many at other bridal salons, was "the dress." We bought the dress (which you had to pay in full...) and scheduled fittings. All of my fittings leading up to my final fitting were a mess. Mary ignored me and her seamstresses got the alternations all wrong. At my supposed "final" fitting, the dress was about two inches too short and they told me that is "how it is supposed to be." I had to be firm with Mary to get her to pay attention to the mess my dress had become. My final fitting ended up being TWO DAYS before my wedding with Mary who I told I was not leaving until the dress was right and in my hand. They altered it in a few hours and I left with my dress. Mary even walked me to my car with my dress. All I can say is that Mary has beautiful dresses, pays attention to you when she wants to make money, her seamstresses do not listen, and it's hit or miss. It really depends on what mood Mary is in that day to be honest. I would recommend with caution and advise lots of patience if you find your dress here!
I've been in this store twice, but NEVER again. The first time I went I tried on dresses by myself. I wanted a classic style strapless fit and flare. She put me in a bunch of bohemian sheath with straps because it's what she thought looked good on me. I was there for over two hours. She paid more attention to the other brides that were in the store besides me. I ended up walking out and buying my dress somewhere else.
I however liked the way she fit me in the dresses so I thought I'd give her another try for alterations. I went yesterday in to ask a few questions and get some prices so I was prepared for my appointment. The lady there was VERY rude. She very shortly said $199/hour and went back to her personal phone call ON THE SHOP FLOOR! I tried to ask more questions but she was very short with me. It was one of the most unprofessional experiences I've ever come into contact with. I was going to purchase some accessories and do my alterations there but I'll take my business somewhere else.
A huge waste of our time. I scheduled a 10:00 appointment on a Saturday and Mary, the owner, was supposed to be our consultant. She did not show up at the store for an hour, as the other employees tried to help us in addition to helping their own clients. We basically did our own fitting. When she did come in, she still did not join us, but flitted around other parts of the store, despite repeated requests to her harried salespeople, who were clearly embarrassed. Finally joined us after 11:30. Never explained or apologized for our 90 minute wait. She knew her stuff about fitting and understanding themes and styles, but at that point we were weary and irritated, not to mention now running late for our next scheduled appointment. Very disappointing.
AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!! This was the most terrible experience I have ever had at any store. Don't bother making an appointment, Mary won't acknowledge you for thirty minutes and when she does she will give you a 15 minute lecture about wedding dresses to show what she knows instead of trying to get to know you. She was only interested in the other person that was there and she was a 'Mother of the Bride' for someone else. If you're spending under $5,000 she won't pay you any mind. On my way out, I was going to make an appointment for next week and she rudely said "you're kidding me, when's you're wedding again???" my wedding is 10 months out and that apparently isn't enough time for them to get their act together. Mary was rude to her employees as well. A huge waste of time. SPEND YOUR TIME AND MONEY LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE!!!
Mary and her crew are fantastic. I am in love with my wedding dress and cannot wait to wear it on my big day! Mary's Bridal made my wedding experience a great one!
Mary and her seamstress fit a gown in their salon to our daughter in just one month (after a problem with her original dress from another shop). We could not be more grateful for their help and expertise. They say that they can do anything, and they can. The gown fit our daughter perfectly and she was a confident, lovely bride.
The Best Decision I ever made was buying my wedding dress here. They treated all of us like family from the moment we walked in the door with my mom. I met with Mary and she found me the perfect dress right off the bat. Couldn't believe that
she was that good but she was. Unbelievable that she talked with us for awhile and then knew exactly how I wanted to look ron my wedding day. No fuss It was so easy. Then i was able to finish my dress look with the matching veil and jewelry. Every fitting it was the same. I came in and Mary's seamtress magically transformed my dress to my body. I lost over 20 pounds and my dress fit perfectly on my wedding day.
This is the BIGGEST scam based on my personal experience! Mary is a FRAUD. She tried to scam me by CUTTING OUT the designer label of a dress that my mother bought for me for my wedding and claimed it was HER label! When I asked Mary who the designer was she said it was "hers" and that it was a "Mary's custom dress." What a lie!! She does not make or design dresses! She tried charging us more than DOUBLE the cost of the dress too! She refused to tell us who the designer was! And then tried to way overcharge me for my veil as well. Luckily we disputed the charges and got our money back. We went to Betsey Robinson (fantastic experience and legit reputable bridal shop) and I found the exact SAME dress that Mary tried to scam us on! I saw the designer label in the dress and the price. That proved what a fraud and straight up liar she really is. Not to mention she was so odd when I was there. She was all over the place, wouldn’t answer straightforward questions, and took an hour for me to try on just one dress! So strange! Do NOT go here for your wedding dress. Horrible experience. I would not recommend her to anyone!!
Mary lied about the worth of the dress and th at she made the dresses. She's pushy to the point where I felt pressured. Her seamstress sewed my dress too short and not to my form. I had to take the dress to another alterations place to fix thiri mistakes. My alterations woman broke the news about all of the lies and reputation of this place. I wish that I neber went here. The only things I wanted nice was the dress and photography and now I'm stuck dealing with a botched dress.
My dress consultant was fantastic she listened to me and not only picked out dresses that matched my vision but also convinced me to try on a dress I would never have tried on. I'm so glad she I listened to her! The dress she picked for me was the first dress I tried on eventually went home with. Listen to the staff at Mary's they really know their stuff!
My seamstress at Mary's also did an amazing job as well and my final appoint was a breeze. I had zero issues with alterations or final pick-up.
The only thing I didn't plan on was the number of surveys and reviews the owner had me fill out at the end, I understand keeping a social media presence to boost you business and I don't mind giving a great review but I hadn't accounted for this in my schedule I politely asked if I could go but there always seemed to be one more review to fill out. This ended up making me late for dinner with family so plan on an extra hour to your appointment if you buy.
So a little pushy but I was happy with my dress and absolutely loved the staff they did an amazing job.
I now understand why all my family and friends recommended Mary's Designer Bridal. They are the best, most knowledgeable and caring bridal professionals that I've dealt with in my whole wedding planning process. And the most important thing- the dresses are gorgeous! From the first visit in the boutique to my last fitting when i picked up my dream wedding dress they have taken care of every detail. When I started to stress out because the store where I ordered my bridesmaids dresses closed and i couldn't get the girls dresses. Mary herself took the time to track down another company
and was able to get me the exact same bridesmaid dresses in time for my wedding. Crisis was averted and I was able to enjoy these last weeks before my big day. Any bride who wants the best should make a appointment with Mary's.
I can't say enough about Mary's...I am the Mother of the Groom and walked in after hours 1 month before the wedding in a panic. Mary stayed until midnight finding me the dress of my dreams. It's flattering and comfortable and fits in with the rest of the wedding party...best of all, I feel like a princess when I wear it!
They really know their business. They are professional and patient and were happy to expedite the fittings in order to help me out. They have a huge selection of beautiful dresses, shoes, jewelry and purses...something for everyone. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for the dress of their dreams!!
Mary's Bridal is absolutely amazing! I bought both of my prom dresses from her, so when it was time for my wedding gown she was the first and only shop we looked at. I just bought it last Sunday and I am already counting down the days until my first fitting! She is so kind and wonderful to work with, she really listens to what you want, and she designs beautiful dresses. Also, the staff are very warm and helpful. The wedding dress was pretty much the only thing I had a vision of for the day before I was even engaged, and Mary is making it a reality! She truly made the wedding dress shopping experience for me. Thank you Mary!
Pretty sure I almost got scammed today with my family. We had the whole "say yes to the dress" moment and my measurements were taken, the whole nine yards. I get dressed and ask what the process is for ordering the dress and putting a deposit down since that is usually the normal process for bridal boutiques (at least everyone I've been too and everyone I've talked to). Mary's wanted the entire cost of the dress paid in full. But that's not the disturbing part...she proceeds to tell me that my Maggie Sottero gown is shipping from CHINA and it will take 8 months to come in. My family was immediately skeptical. We said we would think it over and call back. Come to find out, Maggie Sottero makes all their dresses in the USA and has a statement on their website to beware of bridal scams where people try to replicate designer dresses. I will NOT be returning. I was very disappointed and am so thankful my family picked up on the red flags before we paid for the dress in full only to find out when it came in that it may have been a knockoff.
bridal boutique
I had a great experience at Mary's, everyone there was friendly and helpful and made me feel like a million bucks in the dress I fell in love with. It was a custom made dress and fit perfectly at the first fitting. Ally and Mary were excellent!
We moved out wedding forward by 6 months, and I was very stressed about only having one year to plan while in school. Mary's was the first dress shop we visited, and our experience was wonderful. Mary not only helped me find my dress, she provided insight on weddings and marriage. This was particularly dear to me because my fiancé is in the military, and Mary gave me some great advice about being a military wife.
In regards to the dress itself, Mary helped narrow down my selections and explain the difference between styles. She took time to answer every question thoughtfully and completely. She was incredibly patient as my mom and I asked to see hair pieces, veils, sleeve options, bustles, etc. She was calm and very friendly, helping ease my nerves. I really could not have asked for better customer service!
The people are so smart and made the experience really special. My dress is beautiful and I am so excited for the wedding!
My experience today at Mary's Designer Bridal Boutique was phenomenal! I was torn between two styles of wedding dresses and Mary guided me through both options. Not only did she show me both styles but she basically custom assembled each style of dress to show and flatter my personal shape and style preferences. She was very meticulous and listened very well throughout the entire process. It felt so comforting to have an expert like Mary advise me through the whole appointment. I felt like I was her top priority and she gave me all the time I needed. Mary stayed well after hours with my mom and I for our final decision...I said YES TO THE DRESS!!! In the dress, In this dress I feel gorgeous, elegant, sexy but most importantly, I feel like myself! The day I chose my dress was such an exciting day and I couldn't stop smiling about it.
Mary was also incredibly responsive and helpful gave me her cell number to text her for any/all questions I'd have throughout this whole process. I texted her several times over the past 8 months, and she is always very quick to respond and is so sweet and thoughtful. I had three fittings over the course of about three months, and I dealt with Mary's seamstress, Blanca. She was also extremely sweet and really knows her stuff when it comes to fitting a gown to your body perfectly. She was so patient and let my mom and play around with certain elements of the dress to see what looked best. Mary and Blanca took such good care of my dress and veil and it was so much fun to come back each time and see how they were getting my dress closer and closer to perfection. These two women have some of the best hearts around, and are so kind and genuinely concerned with us looking and feeling our best when the "big day" comes. After three fittings, I finally got to take my dress home today, for my wedding that's in about two weeks!! These ladies feel a lot more like family than I ever would have expected. You can tell they love what they do, and that's probably what made this whole experience so wonderful for me. LOVE Mary's Designer Bridal!! :)

The above is from the bride. This portion is from the Mother of the Bride. Mary's was the third bridal shop my daughter visited, and we knew we had found the right place. The Mary's experience was excellent from the first visit through the final fitting. Mary is truly a pro at knowing the style that will most flatter a bride's figure, and accent her best features. So if you will trust her experience, knowledge, and advice, she will help you look your most beautiful. She began by asking questions, about preferred styles, what you plan to do and how you'll be moving around at your ceremony and reception, your lifestyle, etc. This was so she could select dresses that would give the look, comfort, and effortlessness that lets you relax and enjoy your big day. Every dress she brings you to try is a style that will work well on you. She stayed within our budgeted amount, and my daughter got some just-right accessories, as well. Mary's restyled the back of my daughter's "yes" dress into a V that made it stunning, and it is perfect. Blanca, who does the alterations, is very talented, and so easy to work with. Experience is everything when you want the perfect look, and I highly recommend Mary's Designer Bridal.
Mary's Bridal was just wonderful! Thank you for making my vintage wedding dress dream a reality! Mary's carries such gorgeous and beautiful dresses that you will surely find what you are looking for! All of my wedding guests were in awe of how truly unique my dress was. I am forever grateful for finding Mary’s, and would recommend them to anyone!
Honestly, I was told NOT to go to Mary's because so and so's friend said it was terrible. They were wrong, it was awesome. First of all, I went alone because I was really frustrated trying to find a dress. Natasha helped me and she was so patient. She found a dress she thought would look great even though I thought it wouldn't and asked me to try it on. It was beautiful and she was right. The seamstresses there can do ANYTHING. Even three days before the wedding the seamstress was able to take it in two inches down each side of the dress. I think the reason the reviews are sometimes bad is because Mary, the designer, is very blunt. I think its just how she sounds because she really does love her work. I was so happy with the fit and style of my dress and my entire experience at Mary's.
The worst experience I've ever had!! The owner, Mary was incredibly rude and not helpful. She made me feel very uncomfortable and constantly lied to me about designer brands and other information. I ended up with a poorly made and broken product, that she refused to help fix, and continued to lie to me. She was EXTREMELY rude to her employees, she was yelling at them in front of all the customers for having a sash in the wrong place and an empty hanger. She also grabbed my phone, pulled up Facebook and made me like her page and write a positive review. Brides BEWARE do not waste your time here! Nothing in that store is worth the treatment I received as a customer. This review will also be posted on Google.
Marys bridal boutique is the best in the business. The staff are all extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I went to my appointment with my mother, future mother-in-law, and best friend; they made me feel like the most important and beautiful bride they had ever seen. It was like they had known me for years and they were shopping with a girlfriend. The selection in the store was fantastic they had all different shapes and sizes available and they also offer custom designs and alterations. I'm so impressed with everyone that works there- they really go way out of their way to help you in any way possible. I will be sending everyone I know to Marys!
I had a wonderful experience at Mary's, so much so that I have since referred Mary's to my sister and cousin, both of whom have also found the dress of their dreams. We have patronized Mary's for over 6 years and the quality of service, professionalism, and wedding dresses have remained top notch!
My experience at Mary's was terrible. Dorothy was the only good part about the experience. She was very friendly. Mary, on the other hand, was incredibly pushy, rude, and dishonest. It was not the treatment I expected as a bride looking for her wedding dress. Months before I started looking for a dress, she baited me. I walked in, she acted like she knew me from somewhere, and told me to come back. Day 1 of dress shopping, I found a dress I really liked. She tried to make me buy it on the spot. She also would not let me take a picture of the dress stating some privacy reason. On my way home from work one day, I decided to stop in to see the dress again. I called first, and the receptionist said it was fine. When I walked in, the place was empty, but Mary berated me about how I needed to come in by appointment only. She made me wait alone in the dressing room for 20 minutes to prove her point, even though the store was empty. She then made a huge fuss about how she originally misquoted the dress price to me, and that it in fact $400 more expensive, but said she would honor the price if I bought it by the following Thursday. I looked online. The price she "misquoted" to me was the actual price of the dress. She was just trying to make the sale quickly, and act like I was getting a deal. The last straw was the day I brought my entire family and some friends in to buy my dress. I made an appointment in advance. Mary made us wait for an hour and fifteen minutes past our appointment time before I was even given a dressing room. No, apology. Nothing. Also, other brides walked in after us and were accommodated before us. It left a sour taste in all of our mouths. I walked out without a dress and never to return again. When I think of that place, it puts knots in my stomach. I live in Annapolis, and I've discussed my experience with others, only to find that many of them have had similar experiences. Avoid it at all cost. NOTE: I ended up finding a fabulous Oleg Cassini dress at David's Bridal. It was the most expensive one at David's and it was more affordable than anything at Mary's.
Mary and her staff were amazing. They custom made the dress of my dreams...it was perfect. She also made my veil and jewelry. I couldn't have been happier. Several months after the wedding I'm still getting comments on how great my dress was; one of a kind and gorgeous!
I have never been treated so poorly as I was today at Mary's. Several friends had recommended the store and specifically told us to request Mary. I ended up walking out almost in tears. She was rude, aggressive and most importantly, a liar. These dresses are not her designs which I confirmed with other local bridal boutiques.

Mary's Designer Bridal Boutique was excellent. They were extremely helpful in my hunt for the perfect dress. I ended up with a dress that I would never have tried on without some encouragement but it was absolutely stunning and I am so happy that I found this gem of a store. The detailing was exquisite and the staff at Mary's was very professional and experienced at dealing with a stressed out bride. Thank you so much for everything you did! I would recommend this boutique to everyone.
I did not do a lot of dress shopping for my wedding, I will admit. I'm someone who knows what I like and what I don't. I knew I didn't need to try on 100 dresses to find the right one. I had a dress style in mind from searching through magazines. After my first visit to a bridal shop, I found a dress that was completely different. My second trip out dress shopping I had 2 appointments at different shops, didn't find anything at store #1 and then headed to Mary's. I do not live near Annapolis, so honestly, I didn't know much about the shop except had heard it was nice. So i went there not really having any expectations. When i first stepped foot in the shop i immediately saw at least 5 mannequins wearing the style of dress I was orignally looking for, so i got really excited. Be patient at first, Mary will see your vision. The first dress i tried on, i loved, but wasn't for me. I told her that i had my heart set on a lace dress and she already had one ready for me to try on. I fell in love with it and knew it was MY dress. The staff at mary's is very friendly and helpful. You will get a special experience at this store, an experience that I have not seen at any other store i've been to and i've been to a lot recently with other friends getting married soon. The dress i purchased was one of Mary's designs and so was made for me. It didn't require any alterations, once it was ready, it fit perfectly!
My husband could not get over how good i looked in that dress. Even now, 6 months later, he still tells me how hot i looked. haha! What woman doesn't want that???
I highly recommend stopping in to Mary's when looking for gowns. They have a huge selection and they give you the REAL bridal experience.
My dress was really pretty. Everybody was complimenting me on my dress on the day of. I know it's not just because I'm the bride. It's really elegant and a little heavy with all the layers but you know it's really worth the money. Although it costs us more than our budget. Keep in mind that the fitting costs a few hundred bucks, so let them know about your TOTAL budget and not just the budget for the dress. Their seamstresses are really professional and helpful, though, which probably explains the expense.
My dress was exactly what I wanted. They were very nice to talk to and deal with when picking out my dress.
I worked with Natasha and she really helped me find the wedding dress of my dreams. I had a fairly good idea of what I wanted in my dress - strapless, lace, fit and flare, but simple in design, and had been to two other boutiques to try on dresses. She had me try a few on that met my criteria and I liked them, but then she urged me to step out of my comfort zone a bit and try on dresses with a fair amount of embellishment and detail and I feel in love with one.
I received so many compliments from guests, noting they expected something much simpler from me, but that the dress was perfect and looked like it "was made for me".
The only thing I would say are the alterations are very expensive. They do a flat fee, and because my dress was lace, it ended up costing 1/3 of the price of my dress, and in the end, I required very few alterations. That being said, they do a wonderful job with alterations and wouldn't have wanted to risk having my perfect dress not fitting me well :) All in all, a very good experience at Mary's!
Finding my dress at Mary's was truly a great experience. Jenn and the rest of the staff was very friendly and allowed me to try on as many dresses as I needed (only needed 3) until I found "the one". Blanca is an excellent seamstress and knows exactly what to do to the dress so it fits perfectly and one is comfortable wearing it. There is an excellent variety of styles to choose from and I am glad I chose a dress that flattered me and will look amazing in our wedding album. If you are looking for a dream wedding gown, visit Mary's !!!
Let me start by saying I loved my dress. It appears to be one of a kind. But I find it disconcerting that although the shop advertises many brands almost non of the dresses had labels in them. My dress was not hemmed properly. When I asked them to pack it for shipping, they turned the dress inside out, even though it was delicate lace with beading. WHen I called to where I was shipping the dress, they told me it would be damaged if shipped that way. I have serious concerns about the store and proprietor.
I went to a lot of dress shops to find my perfect dress. Mary's was the last place that I went to. She was very knowledgeable about dresses and types and what would look good on my shape. The only reason I am giving the shop 4 stars instead of 5 is because at first I felt like I was being given dresses to try on that were not what I wanted/explaiend and that I felt like I was trying to be talked into these dresses. The final dress she gave me was finally what I was thinking of! It was gorgeous! Mary handmakes a lot of the dresses-so when I went for my first fitting it fit perfectly. The only alteration was the length (and all alterations are included in the original price). She added the lacy cap sleeves for the service that I had requested and made them removeable so I didn't have to wear them for the receptions. She adds boning to the top of the dresses so it stays up the whole night without having to be constantly pulling it up. I have never seen another dress like mine and received so many compliments at my wedding that it was "the prettiest dress that they had ever seen." I highly recommend Mary's. They were fantastic!
I am an older bride but from the moment that I walked into this wonderful bridal salon I was treated as if I was the only
bride in the world. From the receptionist Jenn to the consultant Marie I was pampered and treated like a star.
I had no idea what looked good on me and at the other salons I visited I was left to fend for myself, told to go through racks of mostly old looking puffy heavy dresses
that made me look like a pumkin. At Mary's they greeted me took me to a private dressing room and interviewed me about what I wanted to look and feel like on my wedding day. They took the time to ask lots of questions and Listen to the answers.I was amazed. The consultant pulled 2 dresses for me, helped dress me and brought me out to a fashion runway and turned on special lighting that really showed me how I would look on my wedding day and guess what- that is exactly how I looked at my wedding because the first dress was the one for me.-My husband loved my dress, my friends and family raved how beautiful I looked and I never felt more beautiful. Thank you Mary's for making my wedding perfect.
My dress fit perfect I love my dressMary is the best designer
her staff is wonderful
If you feel like being nickel and dimed then go here! The only good thing about this boutique is Blanca! I dealt with Mary a couple of times and purposly made appointments when I knew she wouldn't be there because she always gave me a "stressed out, getting ripped off" feeling. From the moment I called I was asked why I would even want a dress like that (personal opinion on her end) and when I went there (8 months prior to my wedding) I was told I had to buy off the rack because it wasn't enough time to get a dress (ONLY place that ever acted like 8 months wasn't enough time...6 months is usually what bridal magazines suggest for you to order and FYI dresses can be shipped even within 2 weeks just a fee applies). I even heard a bride that was getting married 12 months out get told she would have to buy off the rack there because it was too close to her wedding date. Mary tries to sell her own designed dresses to you (of course no need to buy off the rack for those) and after trying some on and still liking a designer one that I went there for, I was told it could finally be ordered. Unfortunatly, when it came time for me to try on my dress I saw that Mary decided to ignore my input on what I WANTED for a waistline on my dress and decided to do what she thought was best. I respect designers and know they went to school for what they do, BUT I also know what I WANT for my wedding dress! The only reason why my dress turned out to look like something I imagined was because Blanca fixed it! She was the ONLY person who seemed concerned about what I wanted! The receptionist up front was ALWAYS on personal phone calls, even when I picked up my dress and she brought it out to my car she literally had the phone to her ear talking to her boyfriend...seemed really unprofessional! Go get a better bridal experience somewhere else!!
Created a beautiful dress, just the one I wanted, but the owner was a little crazy. She would speak to us as she walked by and didn't wait for our answers to any of the questions. The staff was also not very responsive when I called to try to change my dress fitting appointment. However, the actual seamstresses were amazing and incredibly talented!
I Bought my dress from Mary's! I met Mary on several occasions and all though she can be a little odd and bi-polar... She is a great person with a big heart once you get to know her and understand her personality! Natasha was our consultant and she was great as well! I absolutely loved my dress... the only issue I had was that my dress was not hemmed enough... I was stepping on my dress throughout my entire wedding day and had to keep holding it up or taking very careful steps!
I went into Mary's shop looking for a dress in particular. I walked away with a dress more beautiful than my dreams. It is one of Mary's personal designs. GORGEOUS.
I just had a fantastic experience at Mary's! Mary's was my 3rd stop for places to look at wedding gowns. I did not have a great experience at the first two places, and didn't even want to go to Mary's. I was done looking and just wanted to give up. I'm so glad that I didn't! I made a same day appointment to come to the shop, and was running late to get there since my appointment at the previous boutique ran long. I called expecting them to tell me that I would have to make another appointment since I was over a half hour late, but the girl on the phone assured me that this was not a problem at all and not to rush, they would work with me whenever I was able to get there. Once I finally arrived, I was greeted at the door and was congratulated on my engagement once I told them who I was. The receptionist immediately started asking me a million questions about my fiance and proposal and how wedding planning was going. She seemed genuinely interested in my life and sat and chatted with me while I filled out my registration. I was instantly more comfortable here with these friendly people than I was at the other salons. A few minutes later, I was introduced to my consultant, Dorothy, who would be helping me find dresses. She seemed genuinely interested in my life as well, and we quickly started laughing and joking. I explained my frustrations to Dorothy about the other stores, and she sympathized with me and assured me that she would do her very best to find me something that I loved, and if I didn't love anything here either, she was sure my perfect dress would be out there somewhere. I was definitely more relaxed after hearing that and knowing that she wouldn't push me into buying something that I didn't love like the other stores did. Dorothy and I walked around and looked at dresses for about 5 minutes and I showed her a few styles that I liked. She took me back to a fitting room and we started with the dress that I had liked the most. It was perfect! The dress was too big, but Dorothy pinned it so that I could see exactly how it would look once it was in my size. We walked out onto the runway and she adjusted the lighting so that I could see how it looked. I cried! And then she brought out a veil that matched the dress perfectly and jewelry to get a complete picture. I cried even more! I looked exactly the way that I had always envisioned, and I felt beautiful. Dorothy then asked if I was saying yes to the dress. I explained to her that everything about the dress was perfect, but my mom was going to be the one paying for the dress and she would have to come back to pay for it. Dorothy said that it wasn't a problem and that if I wanted, she could do my measurements and my mom could call and pay for the dress over the phone the next day, or whenever she was able, but this way we could get the dress started. She also said that I could wait and come back with my mom in person so that she could see the dress on me. There was absolutely no pressure to buy! I decided the sign the paperwork for the dress right then and there! I'm so glad that I did. I left the store smiling thanks to the staff at Mary's, and I am so much less anxious about wedding planning from here on out. I hope that all of my vendors provide the same service that I received at Mary's. A MILLION stars to Mary's Bridal!
I went to many places to look for my dress, but saved the best for last. I had a particular style in mind and Mary along with her staff made it so easy for me to find the perfect dress.
I came to Mary's as my second bridal salon, and the visit started out in good spirits. The woman who helped me was honest, and kind, and very sweet. However, the visit was tainted by intermittent visits by Mary herself, which felt like I was getting slapped in the face with acid. She was pushy, and rude, and insulting, not only to me, but to other brides in the store. When I had tried on a dress, she then asked me 3-4 times if I was going to buy it, and why I didn't just buy it right now. When I told her I wasn't prepared to buy it because it was only the second shop I had been to, she insisted that I do buy it, without listening to me.
When I asked the name of the designer of the dress, she said "It's my design, because everything you order will be custom fit to you, so it will be Mary's design." FALSE. The dress was Allure Couture, and she claimed it as her own design. So not only was she rude and pushy, she was a liar.
I left that salon, never to return, and bought the same dress from a different salon, with a warm and open environment where I was happy to walk in for every fitting, rather than anxiety ridden (as Mary had made me feel). By the way, the dress was almost $400 cheaper at the second salon than at Mary's.
From the moment I walked into Mary,s I knew that I was going to find "the one". The dress I had been searching for everywhere. Their dresses are so beautiful , most of them on manaquins so that you can actually see what the dress looks like before you try it on. When we arrived for my appointment, we were warmly greeted and taken to a private seating area, offered drinks and so on,then we met our stylist, Mary, and the consultant Nickie, who actually asked me and my mom about the wedding, my theme, what I wanted of my reception, what I liked and disliked and what I dreamed of for my wedding.all of this before even talking about the dress. I really appreciated the fact that they seemed really interested in my wedding and how to help me
Choose the perfect dress. After asking me and my mom (which I was happy about) what I wanted in a dress Mary went shopping for me while Nickie took me into a gigantic dressing room and had me change into a spa robe and shoes.when Mary came in she had my dress with her. I just knew it when I saw it. It was perfect.and when I put it on I wanted to cry I felt so beautiful. When I came out they walked me to a spotlighted long runway, handed me my wedding boquet, and turned on the lights and it was magic.my mom cried, I cried, it seemed everyone cried.
Then Nickie asked those 4 little words I had been waiting to say since my fiancé proposed to me " is this your dress"
And I said yess to the dress. At the last fitting Mary had made me a gift of the garter to go with my dress. So nice of her. So special. btw on my wedding day my husband who never says anything about fashion told everyone how fantastic my dress was. A matter of fact everyone told me how beautiful and unique my dress was on me.
So to sum up Mary's and Nickie are the best. I couldn't have asked for a more special experience.
I had spent day's looking for the the right dress. I had tried on many dreses and none of them were what I was looking for. I sat down with one of the the bridal consultants at Mary's Bridal and she knew exacty what look I was going for in a matter of minutes I found my perfect Wedding Gown !!!
Thanks Mary
Well Mary is TOUGH and RUDE but she does know her stuff. Be PREPARED!!! It is sooooo hit or miss with her
I am giving Mary's 3 stars simply for the fact that I absolutely LOOOOVED my dress, that is all.
I went to Mary's Bridal specifically because they were the only shop in the area that carried the dress I was in love with. I had found another dress at a different shop that I almost bought but something inside told me to hold out for the one I first saw. When I was finally able to set up an appointment I was excited. I went in and they did have the dress I wanted to try. They were trying to push different dresses at me as well (which I understand is their job so that wasn't an issues) and I had to make it clear NUMEROUS times that I only came in for this dress. I asked for the price of the dress and finally made the decision to purchase it. They took my measurements and I got dressed, when I went back up to the counter to take care of payment (they do NOT take deposits, you have to pay in FULL) I saw they had already charged my card AND it was almost $200 more than I was told the cost of the dress would be. Not ONE mention was made that there would be insane shipping costs until I went up there and they had ALREADY charged my card. I just brushed it off because hey, it was my dream dress.
A few months later and I call just to double check and make sure that my dress was going to be arriving on time and that my appt was still good. After putting me on hold numerous times I was told that my dress was already in, but no one had called me. I was supposed to get a call back about moving my appointment but no one called. I had to call them back and was told that I'd have to speak to Mary and she would call me back. I had given them my work # since I was there, they called back maybe 2 mins after I left, since they are located right next to my work I just stopped in. Mary was there so I told her what I was told and she said "Well I don't know where you got that from but I was the one you talked to and your dress isn't even here." She was NOT the one I talked to, the woman I talked to had a very thick accent and Mary does not have one. Then she tried to tell me OOoh there must have been a mix up because someone else with your same last name had a dress come in. Now, I can't 100% say that is not true but I have a VERY unique last name, and in my 31 years on this planet I have never run in to anyone with the same last name as mine, especially not in the same town. I would have been happier if she had just said that there was a little confusion rather than just lie to me. Anyway, I got a new appointment and Mary herself said "Oh this is great because I will be in that day and I will do your fitting myself." This is after she told me not to bring anyone with me because "There's nothing to see". I arrive on the day of my appointment with my Man of Honor and Mary isn't even there to assist me, which honestly I didn't mind after our earlier dealing. One of their seamstresses helped me out and she was great. So in the end I did get the dress of my dreams but I could have lived without all the extra drama and the added charges they tacked on without telling us!
I want to wear my wedding gown around the house, that's how much I loved it! It was the most beautiful tafetta, A-line ballgown I had ever seen. The alterations manager worked with me for hours to make my gown perfect and that's exactly what I got: Perfection! It was comfortable and did not budge throughout the entire day! Thank you!!!
