We wanted to do a small wedding, which ended up being 25 people. The Moonrise Hotel was phenomenal on the day of the wedding. The valet took care of our car and the staff was overall very upbeat, positive, and happy. They sent the hair and makeup team to my room for me. The bartender in the Twilight room (Rooftop Bar/Reception room) was amazing! He was very helpful with our guests and made perfect mixed drinks. The pictures we took at the venue turned out wonderful, thanks to the fun colors and the views from the rooftop. Thanks for helping us have a perfect day!
We loved having our reception at the Moonrise. We used the Twilight Room and our guests were in awe! We were able to use the rooftop patio on the side of the Twilight Room as well. Our beer selection and food were both great too. Night of staff were very helpful and friendly. The only small issue we had was that we thought we could use the ipod hookup to create our own playlist for the night and we were able to do that, but the volume limit was extremely low. We might have done a DJ had we known that ahead of time. Apart from that, everything was magical!
We were very excited to have our reception at the Moonrise Hotel. It’s one of our favorite views in the city and we were so excited to be on the rooftop in September with nice weather. For hotel block reservations, Amy was amazing and so accommodating for us. Working with her was so pleasant and she was so helpful every step of the way. I really enjoyed speaking with Krista and her staff, they helped arrange a tasting and discuss the catering options and bar pricing with a lot of flexibility which was very nice. Our guests complimented the space and the food. I would rate them with 3.5 stars, because I was assured not having a DJ was perfectly fine at this venue, along with wanting to save space and money, they insisted we could use our own device and just plug it into the specific sound system the Moonrise offers because they don’t want to disturb hotel guests. We provided our device the day of the wedding (7 hours prior to the reception) playlist loaded on the device ready to go. However for the first 3 hours of our reception our music was not loud enough to be heard and was simple background music so little dancing was done by our guests. I was very disappointed, this was not a portion of our reception we were able to get photos of for the time we had designated our photographer. Myself-the bride, the groom, and two of my bridesmaids asked the staff 5 times if something could be done about the volume, however we were told this was the max because it was our device and not one of their own (not something ever mentioned to us before). At about 9 with only an hour and a half left of our reception, the staff changed the music for a moment and suddenly the volume was great using our iPod and playlist with no issue. This was very frustrating and definitely a damper on our reception. Overall our experience was fun and a great spot to celebrate, but I wish more had been done to ensure our guests could enjoy the dance floor.
The Moonrise made our special day even more special! Krista and her team are incredible. Our guests raved about the space- the venue, the service, the food, everything was incredible!! We trusted them the entire time to make sure our wedding was everything they dreamed of and they blew us away with the final result. We held both our ceremony and reception there and it was incredible! We cannot recommend the Moonrise for your wedding enough.
We got ready for our wedding in one the Moonrise’s Walk of Fame suites. This worked fabulously as the space for the bridal party to get hair and makeup done. We were then able to take our first look photos on the rooftop which was AMAZING! We were able to get some great wedding party photos on the rooftop, in the bar, and on that amazing rainbow staircase! I love how quirky, vibrant, and fun the Moonrise is, and it was the perfect backdrop for some of our wedding photos. We had a hotel block for our wedding here and the guests loved it as well. On the night of the wedding we stayed in a suite and even received strawberries and champagne. The Moonrise is such a fabulous and fun hotel! We will definitely be back!
We had our post-wedding brunch in the Gemini Room at Moonrise Hotel plus our wedding guests stayed at Moonrise Hotel the weekend of our wedding. My now-husband and also stayed in a suite the night of our wedding and had the honeymoon package! I can't say enough about the hotel and the friendliness of everyone we dealt with.
Amy, Wendy, Krista, Erin were all SO friendly during all of our pre-wedding communication and during. Their cheerful and helpful personalities showed through on the phone, email, and in person. Kevin was so attentive and on the ball during our post-wedding brunch.
Our guests just raved about the hotel. They came from the east and west coasts and they loved the cool decor of the rooms and lobby combined with Midwestern hospitality. They loved the check-in drink on Friday. Several people raved about the mattresses.
We stayed at the hotel in a Walk of Fame suite the night of our wedding and it was luxury! The suite was just gorgeous and we loved the couch /living room area, the dining table, and the counter area in addition to our bedroom. Very cool furniture and lights plus great windows. The bathroom was spotless and the shower was fantastic. When we came back that night there were rose petals leading into the the bedroom and arranged in a heart on the bed. There were delicious chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of chilled champagne waiting for us on the dining table. It was such heaven staying there.
On Sunday we had a private brunch for our guests in the Gemini Room. It was the perfect size and there were bright windows. The brunch was not only laid out just so but each and every dish was delicious. The scrambled eggs were flavorful and perfectly cooked. The bacon was perfectly crisp and delicious and the homemade pastries were to die for. The chefs at Eclipse obviously know how to make food for a lot of people taste good – that's hard to do. Kevin was an absolute doll and oversaw everything to perfection.
I can't recommend Moonrise enough
This review is about using the hotel venue.
My daughter and her now husband picked this as the spot for their wedding reception. They picked this venue for the BBQ buffet menu because they found it fitting for their own individual style (BBQ and beer kind of kids). Originally they were told it was an option and their guests list couldn't be more than 110. After booking the venue decided that if they wanted the buffet they would have to limit their guests to 70 people. Then told them if they wanted a 110 guests they would have to do an appetizer style reception or they could cut their guests list to 90 including wedding party and do a seated meal. The whole purpose of picking this venue was because of what they were originally told about menu and guest amount. Now the wedding was just a couple weeks away and no time to find another venue and they already sent out invitations which indicated that a meal would be included. Stressed now hoping that not all 110 guests invited would actually be able to come they reluctantly signed final contract for a seated meal 90 guest. Luckily after getting their final headcount they were at 91.Then venue tells them they only get 1 hour prior to for decorating, DJ and baker to setup. But then said they could have 2 hours prior. That worked out great for DJ and baker. But not so great for my husband and I. Our daughters wedding was at 4:00 in Fenton so needless to say he and I had to leave as soon as the ceremony was over (missed out on family pictures) and rush over to the venue and ended up having less than an hour to decorate venue before guests started to arrive. The venue was booked from 7:00pm- 11:00 for reception. They ended doing a cash bar because the venue charged 20% gratuity plus another 10.85% gratuity tax for the venue then another 20% gratuity plus another 10.85% gratuity tax on the food so that took away from the open bar money (soda $2.25 with no refills). They were told that water, tea and coffee would be included in the package but everyone was only offered the water that was placed on the tables. oh I forgot to mention that they were also told at the last minute that they couldn't have the standard head table for the wedding party that they would have to split the wedding party between 2 round tables. The kids only had this venue for 4 hours and dinner service was to start at 7:30. It took almost 3 out of their 4 hours just to be served a very tiny salad, main course where some of the chicken and potatoes were under cooked and dessert. People started leaving & they hadn't even cut the cake, garter and bouquet toss not to mention the intimate dances between groom and mother and father and daughter. The bride and groom felt very rushed to get everything done before their time was up.The DJ which was paid $$ & was only used for a hour and he was cut off by staff at 11:00 on the dot. My husband and I started boxing all the decorations as people where still sitting at their tables because we had to be torn down and out at 11:00 so we missed seeing all the traditional wedding stuff. Ahead of time I made sure I booked a room for the kids for that night and they ended up with a very nice room that they were happy with. But the person I spoke to when I booked the room said it would be OK if I paid for the room the night of the reception because they wouldn't be charged until the day after reception. When I went to pay they said it had been charged to card on file which no one authorized.
We booked the Moonrise for our wedding night hotel as well as using it for our hotel block. It was close to our ceremony location (WashU) and our reception venue (Third Degree Glass Factory). They were amazing and Amy who coordinated the block was great. I sent a lot of pestering emails being a nervous bride, and she responded promptly, politely, and courteously. She even said hello to me when I was checking in on my first night there. The suite itself was awesome. It was spacious and had enough room to get ready the day of the wedding. The guests loved the location and loved the rooftop bar. Cannot recommend the place enough!
I cannot rave enough about my experience with Amy at The Moonrise. She was so helpful, kind and responsive in answering all my questions (and I had A LOT!).
Our out-of-town guests raved about the hotel and how unique it was. We even had a few guests bring their dogs (and they were thrilled that they were able to!). They also LOVED venturing out and exploring the Loop. Just a great experience for out-of-towners overall.
One note: Vacancy really depends on whether or not there is a big event at The Pageant. We had our fingers crossed that there wouldn't be a show and/or a big act, and thankfully, it didn't happen... so we ended up booking a ton of rooms and partying on the rooftop as the after party. It was such a great experience!
Highly recommend!
The Moonrise was the perfect choice for our room block for many reasons, but here are the top three!
Service:
It was so easy to place the room block, Amy is so friendly and accommodating. When we needed to add more rooms as our guests started booking that was as simple as a phone call. We had champagne and complimentary drink tickets in our room for us. Everyone from the front desk to the valet to the bartenders were so so nice! We could have stayed in the Central West End just down the street from our venue but we chose a cool, more intimate boutique hotel which was much less expensive, in fact very affordable, and I think we received top-notch personalized service each night we were there!
Location:
It is so central. For our in town guests it was a fun little stay-cation far enough from home with lots of great things to do nearby. Guests could park their car for the weekend and truly enjoy a little R&R. For our out of town guests it does a great just to showcase one of the coolest neighborhoods in St. Louis AND it was just a cab ride to our ceremony location (Dog Town), reception venue (Central West End) and other fun things for guests to check out while in St. Louis (downtown, Forest Park, History Museum, and the Loop of course!)
The Rooftop Bar:
The bar was open until 3am. And we got married on a Monday! If guests weren't ready to call it a night just yet after the reception they could enjoy Eclipse or the New Moon Room after the reception ended at midnight.
We really enjoyed our stay and our guests loved it too!
My wife and I were married here last weekend. The staff was extremely attentive, friendly, and accommodating. Amy, Krista, and Kevin were our three points of contact for coordinating our huge event with over 100 guests. Our rooftop wedding went off without a hitch in especially difficult circumstances (rain most of the day). They ensured all of our outdoor seating was dry for our guests.
Our room was fantastic, and we really appreciated the dog friendly atmosphere. The entire staff from the valet to the front desk could not have been more accommodating with everything.
The food was excellent, serving staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I can't express my gratitude enough.
A wedding can be an incredibly stressful event, and I really feel that the Moonrise staff did everything in their power to reduce that stress and make everything run as smoothly as possible.
We hosted our wedding day after brunch at the New Moon Room at the Moonrise Hotel. Leading up to the brunch, the staff was great to work with. They helped us plan a primarily vegetarian brunch menu, and even allowed us to switch from the rooftop to the New Moon Room (which opens onto the roof) when we saw that we were expecting extremely hot and humid weather that day. That morning, the staff was great and patient, and the food was delicious. They even, at our request, set up a bloody mary garnish bar, and our hungover guests were very appreciative. The coordinator that morning was extremely helpful, even making sure that I (as the hostess) had an opportunity to eat during the event. The room is so cutely decorated, and upon our request for a ‘casual’ feel, they set it up bistro style for us so that there were would be a good opportunity for mingling. At the end of it, they even packed up all the leftover food and let us and our guests mingle around for another few hours on the roof soaking up the sun until we all had to catch our flights. We chose the venue based on convenience since our wedding block was at the Moonrise, and it was a great choice because they exceeded our expectations and put on a great event.
