This perfect wedding venue was a God-send. It never popped up in any of my mainstream google searches, but somehow I stumbled upon it in an archived article somewhere. We thought it was too good to be true, but IT'S ALL TRUE.
LOCATION: Manhattan wedding without the manhattan price tag?? Yes please. Every time someone asked where was my venue was, there was a thrill being able to say, "Oh, in Soho!" Since most of the guests were from Manhattan, many expressed relief from not having to trek outside of the island. Also, both kids and adults were extremely stoked about the venue being a museum. With the antique firetrucks, exposed brick walls, and regal columns in the event space, it really hit the "modern elegance with a touch glamour" look we were going for.
PRICING & STAFF: The pricing is more than reasonable and the cheapest we found anywhere (brooklyn & upstate included). The staff is SO flexible and let us visit whenever we needed to before the wedding, and extremely generous with the set up time they allowed us, including the entire day before at no extra charge.
OTHER DETAILS: We had 160 guests, and it was the perfect size. We were able to arrange the reception tables where there truly was no "bad seat," and it was the perfect size for our ceremony too.
HONORABLE MENTIONS: we thought we lost our cake topper, but a staff member found it a week after the wedding and they graciously kept it for us until we returned 1.5 months later to retrieve it. It's no small thing to us that they went the extra mile!
TIPS FOR OTHER BRIDES: there were a few times when the museum coordinator sent me emails, and for some reason it just never came into my inbox. weeks later when I follow up, the coordinator would fwd me the original e-mail and sure enough she sent it, but it just never came through! Just a tip if you're trying having trouble hearing back from them.
So many more things to say, but I'll sum it up that if I were to do the wedding day all over again, there might be a few things here and there I'd change, but without skipping a beat we'd be back at this venue, because it was absolutely perfect for our needs!
We have had so many compliments on our wedding and part of that is due to the venue. The staff at the museum were wonderful and the event space was great. We also loved that we were able to send our guests down into the museum since we were there after hours.
The only complaints that I have are that there isn't a lot of "backstage" space and they had put pictures all over the space using black screws. Without communicating with me, they took the pictures down but left the black screws in the walls. When I asked (two days before the wedding) about it and said I would rather have the pictures up than the ugly screws the response was a terse, "If I had known we would have left them up but it's too late now!"
Overall, it was no biggy and we had a wonderful time!
