We recently utilized the Cabinet Room at Old Ebbitt for our rehearsal dinner and it was great. The venue was easy to work with from start to finish and we found that it was a great value/price for a private room that would hold up to 50. We loved so much being able to share this DC establishment with our family and friends, and the experience was great as ever! Our wedding party and family members loved the food and the Cabinet Room was perfect for our party size. They helped us also bring in some florals, set up name cards and a few other little touches that made the evening so nice. We are so appreciative of the wonderful experience we had at Old Ebbitt for our Rehearsal Dinner!
Our guests raved about the food and wonderful time was had by all! Every single person we worked with at Old Ebbitt was absolutely wonderful!
Old Ebbitt Grill is the most beautiful venue I've ever been to for a wedding (granted, I'm a little biased since it was my wedding!). Our wedding was on July 5, 2014. The atrium is so classic, with the beautiful fountain, marble floors and super high ceiling. The rooftop provides one of the coolest views in the entire city, and hardly anyone gets to see it! The food was obviously delicious, and our guests raved about the crab cakes, all the appetizers at cocktail our, and the late night sliders and mac n' cheese balls were a hit!
But most of all, the staff at Old Ebbitt takes the cake. Lucy and Jaki were unbelievable coordinators. Leading up to the event they did research, acted as sounding boards, and did everything to make the process as smooth as possible for us. But it was their attentiveness on the day before/day of that really stood out. This dynamic duo ran our rehearsal so smoothly that there were no questions the next day. And on our wedding day, they stopped at nothing to make sure that everything was perfect. Lucy checked in on me and my husband all night. We were never without a drink, some food or a smile. The execution of this massive celebration was flawless. And when we didn't want to stop the party, they made sure we could keep it going a little bit longer. Not one of our guests wanted to leave, and we had a packed house past 1am. We heard from many of our guests that it was the best wedding they've ever been to, and I'm convinced most of that had to do with how wonderful everything/everyone was at Old Ebbitt Grill. We can't wait to go back for anniversary dinners! Thank you for everything!
I couldn't have asked for anything more for my reception at the Old Ebbitt.
The coordinators (Taylor and Emily to start with and later Kelly) were amazing. We didn't have a wedding planner, but they stayed right on top of everything related to our reception. Every time we had a question or request, they had a quick, detailed answer, and I never had any concerns that things wouldn't run smoothly.
When I dropped stuff off the day before the wedding, they even came outside to unload the boxes since I was parked in a bus stop.
The reception went off without a single hitch. Well, there was one hitch when my husband's cousin flipped an entire tray of appetizers on a waiter. The waiter was so gracious and friendly the cousins were dancing with him by the end of the night. :-)
The food was delicious, the waitstaff professional and efficient, and the entire night both classy and fun. After months of planning, I didn't worry once and was free to enjoy myself.
The reception was reasonably priced for DC but a little more than I had originally set out to spend. In the end, it was totally worth it for a great night and for all the help we got from the coordinators. Definitely recommended!
Old Ebbitt was a fantastic location for my wedding reception. I thought the cost was fairly reasonable for DC standards and the size of my wedding. Food, service, decor, everything was fantastic! Exceeded my expectations
Old Ebbitt is a beautiful location for a wedding. We had the cocktail hour on the roof and the reception in the atrium. People are still raving about how amazing the wedding was. The food was great and the waitstaff were very attentive. It's reasonably priced for a DC location and the food is worth every penny. Make sure that you have a DJ who has been there before and understands that the acoustics aren't very good.
That said, the coordination between us and Old Ebbitt, ESPECIALLY the day of the wedding was beyond AWFUL. It took days to get email responses back from the Old Ebbitt coordinator which was extremely stressful. The day of the reception, I saw the coordinator one time throughout the entire evening. We provided them with a timeline of events that they were to stay on top of because our photographer and videographer weren't staying throughout the whole reception. Not wearing a watch or having any concept of time that night, I had NO idea what time it was and our photographer pointed out that it was already 9pm and that they'd be leaving within the hour. We ended up being almost 40 minutes behind the schedule and I had to be the one running around giving the DJ directions and the servers that we needed to do all the main events back to back (i.e. cake, bouquet, garter, etc.) We ended up having to pay the Photographer and Videographer extra to stay longer because we were so behind. It was NOT fun having to be the coordinator while I was trying to enjoy my day and I'm really upset that they did not step up and take care of it themselves. After all, that's part of what we were paying them for. If you plan on having your wedding here, make sure you stay on top of them constantly!!!!! I thought I was, and it turned out to be more stressful than fun for me.
