Once in a Blue Moon was so easy to work, had a very clear pricing structure, and of course, the most delicious cake ever. We loved the at-home cake tasting because it allowed us to try all sorts of combinations and also to do it over several days to avoid the dreaded sugar tummy ache (this was a bigger issue when doing cake tastings than I had anticipated!). The fact that I got my dream cake (tiramisu) was just a bonus. Delivery on the day of was seamless.

Wonderful baker! We requested a simple cake and they gave us exactly what we wanted. They communicated quickly with us as well. The cake was delicious! Super soft, moist, and beautiful.

Oh my goodness, Once in a Blue Moon provided us the best wedding cake ever!! The cake turned out so beautifully, my husband and I couldn't stop talking about the cake the day after our wedding! They got all the details we wanted perfectly, even modeling our two cats as our cake toppers! Not only was it beautiful, but it was DELICIOUS! I'm so excited to have our one-year anniversary cake with them!!

I ordered this cake from Utah based on reviews and the availability of a gluten free cake (I have celiac disease) It was very scary ordering a cake sight unseen (or untasted I guess), but Lily was great to work with and scheduled a zoom call to go through what I wanted. The cake was DELICIOUS and even all my gluten-eating guests loved it.

We opted for pies rather than cake for our wedding, and Once in a Blue Moon Bakery did an absolutely exceptional job! From initial inquiries, to easily meeting all of our requests throughout, to the day of delivery and execution - the process was seamless. They were kind, responsive, and professional throughout. The pies were beautiful and delicious, with guests raving about them, too. We could not recommend them enough for any wedding dessert needs!

Once In A Blue Moon did an excellent job with our wedding cake! They were so nice and accommodating throughout the entire process, from vision to execution to delivery at our wedding venue. We showed them photos of what we were thinking and they pulled it off wonderfully. I wish I still had the original inspiration photo we showed. You can't see it in the photos but there's a lovely gold stripe on the side of our cake, too. We would definitely recommend their wedding cake services and truly can't thank them enough!

Our cake was gorgeous, delicious, and well-loved by all of our guests this past Saturday. We got a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting and a hazelnut mousse. A wedding cake has no business being so tasty!!! They arranged our topper at the reception and patched up a mishap from it being pretty heavy. They even gave us some vegan and gluten free cupcakes for guests who requested them. We'd strongly recommend Once in a Blue Moon, both for your wedding cake and for any baked good needs.

The cake was beautiful and tasted great. We will definitely order from them again in the future! There was a bit of a scare at the reception with the cake not making it there in time--that being said, they did deliver in time and it all worked out in the end. Would highly recommend the lemon filling (:

Once In a Blue Moon made the wedding cake and cupcakes for our wedding this past weekend and it was incredible. We got so many compliments on the cake and desserts. Delivery was very flexible and they were happy to work with our coordinator on times. The cake itself was gorgeous. We really could not have asked for anything better. We would highly recommend the bakery for any special events or just to get yourself a treat. Best cakes in Cary.

Absolutely delicious, hands down the best wedding cake I've ever had! Once in A Blue Moon was extremely easy to work with - the tasting was fantastic, they made it hard to narrow down to just a few flavors. For the design, we loved one of the cakes they had done in the past and just had a small tweak, and they nailed it. They also decorated the cake with fresh flowers from our florist which was a beautiful touch. All in all, we had a wonderful experience with them and would highly recommend!

Planning a wedding from a distance is a little bit nerve-wracking, but after speaking with Once in a Blue Moon we knew we had found the bakery for us. Although we couldn’t do a tasting, we spoke with the owner who helped us decide on flavors, size, and style. The pricing was also very transparent and exactly what they said it would be, which I appreciated. I communicated to them what I imagined for the cake and sent a few pictures and they did the rest! The cake arrived on our wedding day on time and was even more beautiful than I imagined! They did an incredible job and it was delicious too! We had plenty of cake and so a lot of people got seconds and said how much they liked it. It was a wonderful part of our wedding day!

Once in a Blue Moon has been my favorite bakery for over 20 years and I knew I wanted them to create our wedding cake. They created a sample box for us to try all the cake, icing, and filling options at home (due to COVID) and set up a video call for us to go over our thoughts and plan the cake! We requested a Carolina blue three tier cake with white piping with no other requests. They were so excited for artistic freedom and they 1000% executed. The cake was absolutely gorgeous and tasted delicious! We can’t wait for our one year anniversary!!

Our wedding cake was AMAZING! It was exactly what we wanted and was so delicious! We did a tasting with one other wedding cake maker after our Once In A Blue Moon tasting, and it couldn't even compare. We're sure we made the perfect choice, and I'm already ready for our first anniversary so we can eat more of their cake!

I met Lily at Blue Moon to create my wedding cake design. Lily is very personable and great to work with. I showed her a couple of pinterest pictures of cakes I loved and she created a beautiful cake and it was delicious! She made sure to customize the cake how I wanted. Blue Moon did a great job and I definitely would recommend them.

Look no further than Once in a Blue Moon for your wedding cake! They have so many flavors to choose from and everything we tried at our tasting was amazing. We chose a three tiered cake and had our florist provide flowers to decorate the cake with on-site. It was simple and elegant and exactly what we wanted! The best part is that they will make you a fresh top-tier cake for your one year anniversary included in your purchase. We can’t wait to order our topper later this year!

Since I grew up in Cary, I’ve been going to once in a blue moon for years. They were my obvious choice for cake vendor. Our tasting day was so easy and fun. They made the process of picking the he perfect cake simple. We went with a small cake for us and cupcakes for our guests and it was a HUGE hit. I have had high expectations from this bakery as they have been making cakes for family events for years. They did not disappoint for my big day! Other than slight miscommunication about us needing to bring the flowers for them to put on the cake (we thought they were providing). Nonetheless the Bride & Groom's cake was delicious as were the cupcakes they provided for our guests!

They made our groomscake and our wedding cake. Both turned out better than I could have anticipated. They were so flexible and added a little touch for me of a picture of my pet on the back that made the wedding cake even better! Our guests loved it and the groomscake looked so good- in buttercream! I can't believe the skill and how smooth it was. I thought they had delivered fondant at first because it was so perfect. The flavors were all perfect since you can do one each tier and our guests ate so much that they had to go cut more from the back (twice!). The red velvet groomscake was divine. We did a tier of yellow cake and strawberry, a tier of chocolate and raspberry, and one of white and lemon. The whole cake was almond buttercream and it was so light. I love that they give you a free little cake on your 1 year so you don't have to freeze a tier. Thank goodness they do since our guests ate a lot of cake!

I cannot give enough praise to Once in A Blue Moon Bakery for my gorgeous (and tasty!) wedding cake. My family and I have used Once in A Blue Moon Bakery for many years for birthday cakes, graduation cakes, special event cakes, etc. I knew we wanted to hire Once in A Blue Moon Bakery to make our wedding cake. They consulted with me regarding style and size and the representatives were very knowledgeable. They have 2 large portfolios with photos of wedding cakes they've baked. They allowed me to use multiple flavors and the cake was just beautiful. I can't recommend Once in A Blue Moon Bakery enough to any Brides and/or Grooms looking for a great bakery in the RDU area.

We used Once in a Blue Moon Bakery for our wedding cake top (we had homemade cupcakes as well). The Cake Top was gorgeous!!! It was a 6" round cake. We asked for it to resemble a tree with our initials carved in it and to have some flowers on the sides to match our wedding colors. The cake was beautiful, the cake tasting was great, with helpful staff. we can't wait to enjoy our cake top on our 1 year anniversary!! Big thanks to Once in a Blue Moon Bakery for a fantastic job and great customer service!

For my wedding, I didn't want wedding cake. I just wanted cake. Awesome tasting, good looking cake. I did not care for a lot of the cake I tried at various places, including my venue, but Once in a Blue Moon came recommended by a friend. The tasting was great and the price SUPER reasonable. I opted for two 8" cakes and one 10" cake for display and then 2 sheet cakes in the back (so total 5), each in a different flavor (carrot, lemon, vanilla/vanilla, vanilla/chocolate, and chocolate/vanilla) with differing, but simple, decoration... all 3 layers (we saved a small amount of money by having 3 instead of 4 layers, because... who cares!) and all were fresh and exceedingly delicious. The cake table looked great and we had many compliments on how good the cake was.

We went in with an exact idea of what we were looking for to do a vintage looking desert display and we got exactly that. Blue Moon delivered the most beautiful, delicious cake, cupcakes and marble brownies!! They were a hit and not a single one was left. They also give you a small cake on your one year anniversary...which I can't wait for!!

YUM YUM!! and their cake looked good too! We were trying to stick to a specific budget and most cake places in the area were way out of our price range or had specific minimums that we had to meet to even order a cake. Nancy at Blue Moon was willing to work with us to figure out the best cake for our budget. I gave Blue Moon an inspiration picture of my cake and they couldn’t have made it more like the picture I gave them! Added bonus-they will make you a small 6” cake for your year anniversary so that you don’t need to eat old frozen cake to celebrate. I will definitely be ordering from them when I need cakes in the future.

5 stars all the way. No complaints. This cake was so beautiful, so delicious, and so reasonably priced. They were the cheapest bakery in the area, AND their cake tasted the best out of all 5 of the bakeries we had cake tastings! Everyone at the wedding raved about how gorgeous and yummy the cake was. They are totally flexible in their designs, and tell you about all the different costs right up front so there are no hidden fee's. Very professional and great value. I'd recommend them to anyone!
