Everyone raved over all of our desserts. The cake was beautiful and everything was delicious. Jenny was amazing throughout the whole process, such a gem. Super approachable and accommodating to our wants and needs. People could not stop talking about the cheesecake! I personally LOVED the pecan pie tartlets. Highly recommend!

My wedding cake from paradox pastry was a work of art! It was so beautiful and delicious. Paradox made it easy to personalize everything about it and it turned out perfectly. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone.

Jenny was absolutely incredible to work with! From our first consultation, we knew this was the place for us. Desserts are hugely important to me as a person, and Jenny’s attention to detail and passion for pastries inspired all of the confidence in the world. She even took my dress design and buttercream stenciled it onto the cake for one cohesive look. Everything was delicious and Paradox was so easy to work with. Absolutely recommend!!!

Paradox Pastry was great! We had already been working with another bakery that had to end our contract because of issues on their end, so a few months before my wedding I had to find a new bakery. Jenny said that she would replicate the original order for mini cupcakes that we had at the other bakery (and was cheaper!). She was very responsive throughout the entire process. Not only was she accommodating, but the mini cupcakes were exactly what we wanted and delicious!

Our dessert bar was such a hit, couldn’t have asked for a better vendor!

We came to Paradox looking for a wedding cake AND wedding pies. They went above and beyond to work within our budget while creating a dessert table that looked beautiful and cohesive, with a gorgeous cake adorned with berries in the center of various flavors of fruit (and other) pies. But they weren’t just for show – every thing was delicious, and our wedding guests loved it!

I never dreamed of having a wedding cake--I always thought it would be outside of my budget but when my cousin told me he was gifting me a cake a few weeks before my wedding I was so overwhelmed I had no idea what I wanted, what flavor, or who to go to. My cousin found paradox and right away (on super short notice!) they were willing and excited to help. I showed (emailed) the head baker a few photos, she asked me if I wanted it to be a surprise (yes! I wanted at least one *good* surprise at my wedding) and when I arrived, there it was looking PERFECT and delicious. While I never actually had any cake my guests all said it was fantastic. The real testament to how amazing Paradox is, though, is how thoughtful and kind all of my cousin and my's interactions were with the bakers and how willing they were to help out on such short notice. Absolutely amazing. Thank you so so much! (I got the coffee chocolate cake with hazelnut filling--guest said they only tasted chocolate but that it was delicious!)

Being a Charlottesville local I had always loved the pastries here, so when it was time to choose a bakery for my wedding cake my first choice was Paradox Pastry. I ordered a strawberry short cake wedding cake. On the outside the cake looked ok, (my florist made it look beautiful by adding flowers), that is where the great experience ended. As I tasted the cake, it was dry and barely had any strawberries. When I reached out, the owner advised that she thought I wanted a "wedding style short cake." I work in costumer service and this was by far the worst experience I have had. There are other bakeries in town that offer better products and customer service.

If I could give Jenny Peterson and her "sugarista's" a hundred stars, I would! They were that amazing! I am a Mother of the Bride, and my daughter was just married. We met with Jenny to begin our order of desserts and choose a cake for the wedding. My daughter wanted a beautiful, assorted desserts table, where the food was part of the decor. Jenny did not disappoint. We chose beautiful vintage serving pieces for the table. Paradox Pastry adorned that table with the most appealing, elegant, and delicious treats. Jenny was incredibly fun to work with! I can't stress that enough. Wedding planning is stressful. Choose your pastry chef, based on their level of concern to ensure you have an amazing day. Jenny delivered. She truly wants your day to be perfect. Our venue loves working with Paradox Pastry because of their overall ease in communication. My advice is to set up your appointment with Jenny at Paradox Pastry, taste the amazing food, then get on their calendar that day. From start to finish, Jenny remains our favorite vendor!

The cake was tasty, but the design was not what I ordered. The top was supposed to be rose gold and the bottom was supposed to be a marbled purple with geometric shape cutouts on base. I sent her my wedding colors and everything was supposed to be coordinated. During my wedding I saw my cake and it was definitely not what I ordered. The top was rose-more pink then gold, the bottom looked solid navy and the strips for the cut outs were just lines that ran across it. The cake was more suitable for a gender reveal party than a wedding. The staff was friendly but the final product was not an asset to my wedding.

I ordered several bakery cakes to create a cake bar for my wedding and they were great to work with. They gave me all the options and personal attention I could want without over complicating anything. They were a great fit for my budget, very easy, friendly to work with, and the cake was fantastic.

Jenny at Paradox Pastry is so amazing to work with. She went through exactly what type of cake I wanted step by step and then made it happen! The cake arrived on time to my wedding, looked beautiful, and tasted delicious! I went with their Guiness dark chocolate cake with raspberry cream filling and people couldn't stop talking about how yummy it was. I definitely recommend this vendor!

Jenny was great to work with - her sense of humor and artful eye made Paradox Pastry the clear choice. I'm not typically a fan of store bought cakes, but Paradox Pastry is different. You get two large slices of moist, delicious cake at your tasting - we tasted a Chocolate Guinness cake that was to die for and chose to go with that one rather than creating a mix of our own flavors. I described the style of my wedding, and Jenny designed the perfect cake.

The pies and mini cake Paradox Pastry made for our wedding were amazing! I went to pastry school so I was very particular in choosing a local pastry chef. Since we don't live in VA it was a bit more difficult since I wasn't as familiar. Our wedding planner suggested Paradox and we are so glad she did. We met the chefs at the shop and were blown away by the taste of the mini pies! They looked great and tasted delicious! As a bonus the chefs were super sweet and fun! We're so glad we chose Paradox Pastry for our wedding desserts. We highly recommend if you want a wonderfully tasty dessert, great looking presentation, and professional sweet people to work with!

Our cake was beyond creative and truly set the wedding apart. The owner of the bakery was very nice to work with, but be prepared to do most of the final planning right before the wedding. We got many compliments on the flavors and the style. Delivery was perfect and it handled the May weather very well.

Paradox Pastry was fantastic to work with! My husband and I were able to taste test whatever we wanted well in advance of making a decision. The pastry chef, Jenny is extremely easy to work with and down to earth. We were able to get exactly what we wanted-2 different flavors, different icing types, fresh flowers, etc. She remained very flexible and gave us a great price. I would highly recommend her services. Not a single hiccup in the entire process- we cannot wait to eat our 1 year anniversary cake!

Jenny at Paradox Pastry was great! She has lots of energy and great ideas for what we wanted. The guiness stout chocolate cake was AMAZING! We had a small wedding, therefore, a small cake, but it really was perfect. We did not book her until a month prior to our wedding and she never made us feel rushed. We even got compliments from our catering staff saying it was the best wedding cake they had ever eaten!

Jenny was great to work with - she really made our dreams come to life and created a gorgeous cake for us! I'm a little upset - I got so caught up in dancing that I missed out on trying the guiness chocolate cake with hazelnut icing that she made us (but I'll get to try it for our anniversary cake!). The red velvet was TO DIE FOR and the cake was stunning. She's a true artist and so easy to work with! Definitely recommend!

Jenny from Paradox Pastry was a delight to work with. I think she is so creative and she was so willing to work with us on whatever we wanted. While her regular wedding cakes were a little bit out of our budget, we eventually came to a great place that was affordable to us and really showcased our personality as a couple - whoopie pies! Not just your regular chocolate cake and cream filling whoopie pies but assorted flavors! We worked together to develop our flavor pairings and it was totally perfect. She really took the time to get to know us as a couple to figure out what we might want in a cake, and, eventually, in whoopie pies.

YUMM! Jenny at Paradox Pastry knows how to make a cake! Known more for whimsical cakes, Jenny was still able to create a beautiful/classic cake just like we had imagined. Her price could not be beat, nor could her friendliness. We just loved our meetings with her! She made us a white cake with chocolate ganache & raspberry for 2 of our layers, and white cake with lemon curd for the other two. Wow, this is making me hungry just writing this! Jenny is great – best quality in Charlottesville!
