I chose the Quality Inn bc the Tropical Courtyard is such a beautiful room with so much character- nothing in the Johnstown area compares. I give the room itself 5 stars. Unfortunately, the customer service was awful. It made me very sad that it was so hard to communicate with the staff there bc I loved the venue so much. The manager was always super accommodating in person- the problem was if you didn't show up at the hotel you could NEVER get in touch with her. She never responded to emails or phone calls and always made excuses. Plus, she was the only person that had any idea what was going on. This became a big problem on the day of the wedding when she had an emergency come up and wasn't there to coordinate everyone at the reception. There were only 2 bartenders to accommodate our nearly 300 person wedding- which as you can imagine made for an extremely long bar line. And when I tried to talk to the manager about it when I called her the next day, her response was, well it's not my fault your guests drank too much. I was extremely unhappy with how she handled the situation. But the room was still beautiful and overall the wedding went smoothly- I just wish the customer service had been better. Trying to coordinate with the manager while living several hours away was quite stressful. But that might not be a problem if you live locally and can see her in person.
They mistakenly put our guests on the wrong floor with the downgraded room types. The bar was nice to hang out at after the rehersal, and would have been nice for guests to hang out after the wedding but they had a band with a $5 cover that turned many people off.
The Quality Inn was great to work with and came through on everything we could imagine. The room was beautiful and everyone was great!
