Amazing venue! Erin (the venue coordinator) is great to work with. She is exceptionally responsive to questions and concerns. I was never left wondering when she would get back to me. She made planning very easy and checked in with me throughout the process to make sure everything was going well. Long story short, she knows what she is doing and does it very well. The bar manager, Karen, and her staff also went above and beyond as to even make ingredients for our signature cocktails from scratch! Our day-of coordinator Kelly was also a pleasure to work with. She arrived early and stayed late in the night to make sure everything was taken care of. As for the building itself, it is a truly beautiful venue and I would argue one of the most interesting and beautiful buildings in this area. If you are looking for a venue that is elegant and classy and want the opportunity to plan your wedding reception with some great people, this is a great venue to check out!
Erin (the event coordinator) at the Cultural Center is an absolute pleasure to work with. And Karen the bar manager is such a sweetheart. We thoroughly enjoyed working with them to bring our reception to life. You couldn't ask for a more historic and stunning venue.
We picked SCC because it’s one of the most beautiful buildings in our area. It turned out to be the best decision because of the competence and professionalism of the staff. Erin and her team are amazing. They were responsive and helpful during the planning process. And when our big day came, we didn’t have to worry about a thing. Everything went perfectly. We are so grateful to SCC!
The SCC is a beautiful building combining old world charm with modern service. All of our guests raved about the building as a beautiful reception setting. The staff was great. They gladly learned two signature cocktails and there were enough bar tenders to ensure that there was never a line at the bar. Erin is great to work with, super organized and helpful, and Judy, who was the coordinator the night of our wedding, was extremely helpful and made sure we didn't leave anything behind.
Excellent and elegant venue, staff extremely helpful.
I had a winter wedding and the SCC provided just the right classic, romantic feel I was looking for. They encourage people to come in and check out the ballroom on weekends when they are getting set up for weddings, and there's almost always someone there to answer any questions. They provide the bar, but you have to bring in your own caterer, entertainment. They have amazing lighting options as well. One complaint is that they say they can accomodate 300+ people, but only have about 200 ballroom chairs, so we had to rent about 100 extra chairs.
We had our reception at The Scranton Cultural Center, in Shopland Hall which is the entire 4th floor of the bldg. We choose Shopland Hall over the grand ballroom because it was better suited for the size of our reception of 150 guests. It was less expensive than the grand ballroom too. The professionalism of the staff was appreciated and reassuring throughout the whole process. They provide their own bar service and offer different options for service. We choose to go with a tally service for an open bar and found the price reasonable. They also provided the tables and chairs as well. Overall our experience was great and I would recommend The Scranton Cultural Center as a unique and memorable wedding venue.
This a perfect place for an classy upscale wedding. The architecture in the building alone is beautiful. The staff from start to finish was amazing. I didn't have any anxiety the day of because I knew everything was take care of by the SCC.
everything here was amazing. The coodinators, the lighting. It was all so beautiful and elegant. There was not one detail overlooked!
My November 2011 wedding reception was held at the Scranton Cultural Center on the fourth floor of the building. We had the entire floor to ourselves, so our cocktail hour was held in the large lobby and the rest of the reception was in Shopland Hall. Two weeks before the wedding, we met with Kelly, the event planner, to walk through the space and go over all of the details of the reception, which was extremely helpful and alleviated a lot of stress. Kelly was very nice and helpful, as was all of the Scranton Cultural Center staff (with the exception of Erin, who we originally dealt with and was not so pleasant). Kelly was at the reception to make sure everything was going as planned, and all of the staff was friendly and attentive. The architecture of the building made the reception very elegant, and it also made for some great pictures. I would definitely recommend using the fourth floor, which is just as impressive, more secluded, and cost far less to rent than the huge ballroom on the first floor.
This location is gorgeous! The staff is very friendly and the bar is very reasonable! It is a bit of extra work to get your own caterer and rentals, but it was well worth it!
The Scranton Cultural Center which just opened for weddings is gorgeous and spacious -- especially for weddings with over 200 people. We had so much space.... And the staff bent over backwards to make sure we had what we wanted.;Book early -- they have contracts with the Scranton ballet and of course the Masons so dates can be limited.
