Valley 9/10 They do a really great job and are very used to handling weddings. They had some staffing turn overs which sometimes made communication confusing. Once Thomas was hired and became our point person things were amazing. He helped us add people to our block after it was closed. We easily ordered snacks for our after party at the hotel bar. Everything was clean and everyone was helpful. The hotel could use a little updating in their rooms but everything was perfectly nice and very clean. The suite was perfect for getting hair and makeup done and they provided extra mirrors and chairs.
Overall we were not particularly satisfied with Sheraton Great Valley. The hotel itself is beautiful and very clean. Our issues mostly revolved around the staff. It seemed like if we asked 3 different people the same question, each gave us a different answer. It all started with our contract not being explained properly, to which we were initially told we would not be responsible for a certain percentage of our unused rooms in the hotel block, then 4 months before the wedding we were told otherwise. We worked with Marianne and got that sorted out very quickly, which we appreciated. We had a few hiccups with the hotel block itself - a few people reported to us that where they had previously used our unique link to book in our block, they arrived at the hotel and were told they did not in fact have a room. We also had a few instances of people having duplicate rooms when they only booked one. Again, it was resolved with relatively no issue. For our wedding we made hotel welcome bags, some with pink ribbon to signify those arriving on Friday night for the rehearsal and others without to signify those arriving Saturday. We gave them a piece of paper with names and who was to receive which bag. The staff at the front desk did not follow our paper appropriately at all, with people receiving the wrong bags/itineraries which created confusion. Onto the rehearsal dinner which we hosted in the White Horse Tavern, we had one guest who is severely allergic to all dairy. We told staff beforehand that we needed one meal completely dairy free, to which we were told he would receive ziti with pink sauce (no cheese). When we arrived, he went to look for his meal and there was none, so they made him a salad really quick, meaning he did not receive the meal we paid for. Lastly, when guests checked in after our rehearsal on Friday night, some were told that they would be able to receive a free breakfast the next morning in the White Horse Tavern (which is usually a fee) buffet. Some guests were given a voucher for breakfast and told to spread the word to other guests to mention that they were part of our wedding block and to go get their voucher. As guests went up to the same front desk attendant to ask for their vouchers, they were told no, only Marriott members receive the vouchers. When the guests who were originally told to spread the word went to ask what happened, they were told that they were wrong to have spread the word on receiving free breakfast vouchers. Again, lack of communication among staff and being told different things by all of the staff.
On another note, we did not use the shuttle service offered by the hotel because we were told that we would need to book it in advance for a fee. The shuttle is only a 14 passenger van, which would not have been nearly enough to transport our 95 guests to our venue. We ended up using an outside vendor for all of our transportation needs.
On a positive note, Thomas was amazing to work with. He kept open communication with me and sent me frequent lists of who had booked a room in our block and how many more we needed to fulfill our requirement. He answered all of my questions in a timely manner and was easy to work with. I only wish the staff at the front desk had more open communication with Thomas and were able to be as easy to work with as Thomas was.
We had a wedding block here and also did a breakfast the day after our wedding. Thu was amazing and soo helpful! My husband and I were supposed to get married April 2020 but then had to reschedule five times. Each time they were so easy and awesome to work with. The breakfast the next day was really good and we were all so happy about it!
We stayed at this Sheraton for our wedding, and everyone there was amazing. I have to give shout outs to Ty, Amy and Nathalia who paid attention to all of the details of our wedding room block and our guests. Then there were Mike and Diana in catering, who took care of our rehearsal dinner and cocktail hour in the beautiful indoor/outdoor restaurant they have on site. And last but definitely not least, Kimmy, Shawn and Rena at the front desk did a terrific job taking care of our guests' gift bags (and there were a LOT of them), being super responsive to all of our requests and always having a smile on their faces. Throughout the weekend, we also benefited from the shuttle services to and from the train stations, and to nearby restaurants and hair salons so that our guests could enjoy the area in the days before the wedding. I can't say enough great things about this place, and if you are having a wedding in the area, they should be at the top of your list for hotels to consider!
We loved having our reception at the Sheraton Great Valley! The option to have one room for dancing and another for eating was a big selling point for us. Family members told us how much they loved being able to sit down and have conversation while others danced in the opposite room. The staff were all extremely accommodating and Diana, our coordinator, turned our vision into a perfect evening. I cannot say enough about the food - the chef is wonderful and exceptionally skilled. I will be dreaming of the salmon I had on my wedding day. While I didn't get to take full advantage due to rain, I also love the option to have an after party on the deck! Beautiful area with comfortable seating and fire pits.
Overall, this is an exceptional site for a reception. I would highly recommend it!
Exceptional value for your money! My husband and I very thankful we chose to have our wedding reception at the Sheraton Great Valley. As a full time teacher with an additional graduate school load, I was NOT aiming to be a D.I.Y. bride. The Sheraton Great Valley handles so many of the stressful details while providing high quality options for your cake, centerpieces, menu, bar, linens, overnight room, changing rooms, and bachelor/bachelorette party. We loved our overall experience with Diana Almada, our wedding coordinator, who made sure our day was just as we had dreamed! One of our favorite experiences was the taste testing, which was not only delicious, but it provided us with assurance that our guests would be served great meals, which they were. Another favorite aspect was the bachelorette party which included two rooms at the Valley Forge Casino hotel, dinner for six, and entry into their Dueling Pianos show. We had a great weekend!
I researched many Chester County and Delaware County reception venues, and the Sheraton Great Valley, by far, provided the most value for our money!
