Something You Salon & Spa

I have been seeing Amanda for my hair for 5+ years now and followed her when she opened Something You Salon in Champaign. Right after I got engaged, 1.5 years before our wedding, I asked Amanda if she would do my hair. She said yes and of course stuck to her word, even though it required her to travel way out of her limits for me. She styled my 3 bridesmaids hair, my mother in law, my Mother, my Nana, and my Aunt. EVERYONE loved their hair, especially me and my Mother (who has super thick, gorgeous hair but is hard to please). As always, Amanda exceeded expectations and was an absolute joy to have with us on my wedding day. She makes every room brighter and is always calm, cool, and collected, and fabulous at what she does. I adore you Amanda and am so grateful for you and the way you made me feel like a queen on my wedding day. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I may be a little biased because I had been going to Janie to get my hair done for probably a year and a half before I got married, but honestly developing that relationship and having her know my hair really well and being super honest and open with me from the first moment I walked in all the way up to my trial and then my wedding, it made it SUCH a seamless process. Carmen did my makeup, and Michelle did my mother's MOB makeup, and they were both amazing. My mom loved how hers turned out so much, she's now an Aveda convert and loves their products - she goes out of her way to buy them! I think the best thing about Something You is kind of in their name - everyone there listens to what you want but also strives to maintain an open and honest relationship with their client about what will be possible for their special day and beyond. They won't slap colors on you that don't suit your skin tone, they won't force you into a ridiculously fancy up-do if it's just not who you are (Janie actually talked me out of mine even though several of my friends were pushing for me to have one, because it just wasn't my true style), and I can guarantee you just won't find a salon like Something You no matter where you go. They're pretty incomparable. I'm not sure about them being "pricey" for Central Illinois, though, because for 5 of us to get hair done, and 2 of us to get makeup done, it was a very, very reasonable expense. I love looking back at photos and just admiring how my hair and makeup turned out that day. (if you're on the fence about airbrush make up - DO IT - it's totally worth it, especially for summer weddings.)

Janie and Lauren did excellent work!!! They were super sweet and friendly and went above and beyond to help me get the bridal look i wanted. Lauren’s make up rocked! It was so beautiful without being over done.

Highly recommend something you! They are amazing and truly exceeded all of our high expectations on our wedding day. They are so easy to work with and know how to make the getting ready process run smoothly.

Absolutely amazing. These girls were so fun to work with, and did such a wonderful job! All of my girls were thrilled, and both moms who weren’t planning to do hair or makeup ended up having theirs done after seeing everyone else’s. This has become my normal salon as well after discovering them through the knot. I can’t say enough good about them!

I was very pleased with my bridal hair and makeup. It was on the pricier side for central Illinois but everyone was happy with the end result. We almost had a big mishap as she forgot to update my paperwork on who all wanted hair and makeup done. But thankfully she was still able to stay long enough to get everyone completed. Would definitely recommend!

It's a little pricey but definitely worth it! The whole atmosphere of the salon is relaxing and luxurious. Janie got my hair ready in advance and was super easy to plan my trial with that would work well with my date. Carmen did my make up and both did an AMAZING job. I couldn't be more pleased with my hair and make up from my wedding!

I booked with Something You Salon & Spa for my wedding to do the hair of my wedding party, my mother and mother in law, and myself. Amanda was my hair stylist, and as I know she will admit, we had a pretty rough hair trial. My hair wasn't cooperating and the vision I wanted for my wedding wasn't coming through at all. I showed pictures from the trial to my sisters and girlfriends and all provided negative reviews. I left feeling pretty down because I felt I wasn't getting the quality I was hoping for. So, as expected, I was a bit nervous the day of the wedding because I didn't want my hair to look as it did at the trial. It was obvious Amanda remembered how our trial went and went the extra mile to ensure my hair looked absolutely perfect and it was! I wish I could upload a picture because I cannot say how relieved and happy I was with the final product. It really was night and day from the trial. My mom and bridesmaids all loved it. Thank you to Amanda for understanding my nervousness and making my hair look even better than the vision I had planned. In addition, my bridesmaids all LOVED their hair. Amanda and her assistant were super flexible in allowing changes to hair in case someone thought a poof was too high or curls weren't voluminous enough. In the end everyone's hair stayed intact and everyone was very satisfied.

My venue, Pear Tree Estate, recommended Something You to me because they were a vendor that had worked hair and makeup for them before. Not being from the Champaign area, I decided to take a chance and trust the other reviews online. I am so glad I did! My whole experience with Amanda and Something You was wonderful. Amanda is so down-to-earth, not to mention super talented. During our trial run, I simply showed her pictures of how I wanted my hair and makeup and she created an amazing look out of them. Brides, I definitely recommend getting the fake eyelashes. Mine stayed on all night and made my eyes pop in all of our photos. My hair and makeup stayed in tact all night, as well. Amanda has been doing weddings for a long time, and she continues to go to events to stay up to date on her skills. Thank you Amanda and Something You for helping me feel beautiful on my wedding day!

Amanda and Lauren are totally the A-team! I hired them for on-site hair/makeup services for my wedding, and they were so great to work with. I had my trial with both of them at Amanda's salon, and it was a wonderful experience. They listened to my vision for my wedding day look, and helped give their professional opinions about how to bring it to life. Both ladies were friendly, fun, and phenomenal at what they do! I've never looked and felt more beautiful, and they did an incredible job making everyone in my wedding look and feel fabulous!
