What I enjoy most about photographing wedding is being part of the special moments that define them: the union of a loving couple, the birth of a child, and all the milestones that follow. With my photography I’m able to stop those moments in time for them to relive over and over again. I love hearing people’s stories about how they’ve met, the obstacles they’ve surpassed and sharing their stories through those precious moments. My zeal for photography began when I was seven years old. My parents gave me an old camera to use and I was quickly captured by the new art form. I took to photography with a tremendous enthusiasm that has never left me.

Photography has always been a passion. I am a creative soul with many interests and capturing the world around me is one of those deep-seated goals I felt for many years. My interest in imagery expands into both motion with my video work as well as still images with my photography work. Editing images and playing around with a scene has always driven me. It starts out with a great image then moves on to trying to get the most out of an event. I belong to a band and we have produced several really interesting projects over the years. It has been a fascination of mine to explore music and the imagery associated with it. I have been involved in the photography and video around our band's exploration of good music and good imagery.

We booked Special Moments Photography for our wedding this past June and had the pleasure of working with Patrick day of. He was very kind over the phone while asking him questions about the different packages offered and was very detail oriented when he called to ask us about our preferences for our day. He arrived before the wedding and did the most to get good pictures for us. I felt beautiful! Our venue was quite dim, but the photos are beautifully lit. We got our final photos within a week, and were very impressed by the fast turn around. We also really appreciated being to download our images.

Our first impression after contacting them definitely set the stage for a wonderful working relationship! As soon as I finished filling it out the form online and submitting it, within a few minutes we received a call from Patrick, the owner. From that first conversation you could tell that this was way more than a business for him, this was his passion and love. The way he described the process was so genuine and from the heart. The whole process of hiring Special Moments to be our photographer for our daughter's wedding, the planning, the day of, the photos themselves, receiving the proofs...every single step of the way was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! My husband and I met Patrick at a bridal show we attended before our wedding, and the portfolio of Special Moments Photography was by far the best one among the others. The retouching on the photos looked natural and the angles & the lighting in the pictures were also great. I wanted the photos of our wedding to be more natural and not entirely posed, more like a "capture the moment" style and his candids were incredible. Patrick was always accessible via phone & email, answering any questions we had and accommodating all of our needs. On the day of our wedding, he and his team were very professional and also respectful of our request of wearing masks for the safety of our guests. The pictures were ready for proofing not long after the event and we were surprised by their quality & quantity. We would recommend the services of Special Moments Photography.

Patrick did our wedding a few weeks ago . After our day being canceled/reschedule and moved several times due to Covid, the photography was really the last thing on my mind. Not only was Patrick understanding and flexible with all the changes, he was super fun and easy to work with and he knew all the hidden gems of our venue. We got married the first week of June in a traditional Indian ceremony. One of the best decisions we made was to choose Patrick Abel from Special Moments Photography (SMP) in Plymouth, MI to capture our special day. The website of SMP was very informative, and contained pricing packages and photographer portfolios. This was very useful in our initial search. Right from our first interaction, Patrick was very patient and courteous. He answered all our questions and made himself available via text and email. I wasn’t able to always respond to Patrick’s queries in a timely manner because of how demanding planning was. He was always very patient, and followed up with reminders. On the day of the wedding, he came early and explored the wedding venue and picked out spots for good photos. The photos (over 500+) were a dream! Everyone in my family loved it, and he captured the most important moments beautifully. The turn around time for us to get a link to all the pictures was very quick. If you’re looking for someone who is easy to work with, is budget friendly, and who takes amazing pictures, don’t look further than SMP and Patrick.

Patrick of Special Moments Photography was professional, friendly and so easy to work with from our first phone conversation through the entire wedding day and evening. Our two-part wedding ceremony and evening reception made for a long day and yet when anxiety can run high, Patrick had an amazing calming effect. Lisa and Patrick from Special Moments Photography were incredible. They were both so easy to work with and so friendly and outgoing. I appreciate that they were open to specific types of shots or suggested locations that we wanted. I feel like there is a lot included within each of their photo packages. Our engagement photos were incredible! We're looking forward to receiving our wedding photos.

Patrick is an amazing photographer! One of my daughter's main concerns about the wedding was that the pictures turned out. She is so happy with all of the photos! Patrick's use of lighting and creativeness captured the magic of the wedding. Additionally, he was fun, friendly, and meticulous about each shot. Patrick was an awesome photographer! He made us feel really comfortable and took some amazing photos! He contacted us a couple of times before our wedding and even though we didnt get a chance to meet him in person before the wedding (we live in another country) we felt like he was very attentive to the type of photos we wanted and the overall look/feel. We were so lucky to find him.

We used Patrick for our wedding this past Memorial Day weekend and he and his team were exceptional. We had a traditional Indian wedding with all the pageantry and fanfare associated with it. It was a 3 day long affair with lots of vibrant colors and hundreds of people in multiple locations s. Patrick captures all of these moments beautifully. Though he is not of Indian decent, he still understood the importance of certain rituals and was very kind and accommodating of everything we threw at him. He was respectful of traditions while also interjecting to capture the perfect picture that would be hung on our wall. He was timely to all the events and had innovative ideas that made our wedding weekend look like a fairytale. I know Patrick well as he also captured my sisters wedding a few years ago and remembered our family by our first names. His customer service and connection to us really made the difference.

Patrick and his team are absolutely fabulous! Special Moments did our engagement photos on short notice, had some awesome ideas for the shoot, and made us feel so relaxed. We also used Special Moments for our wedding, and we could not have asked for better shots. Reviewing the pictures over and over again, I never get tired reliving the moment because they captured it with such grace. I would highly and absolutely recommend Special Moments for any occasion, but especially wedding photos! The best part is that we have all the rights to our photos!! Special Moments Photography captured the essence of our winter wedding. The fun ideas our photographer had utilizing the snow fall really brought a charm to our photos. Things we would never have thought of ourselves. The final edits, touch ups, made our photos look Magazine Amazing. Even I, the least photogenic, found photos that I just love sharing. When you want to capture the experience in a way that keeps you going back to your photos, you get one chance to get it right. Special Moments got it right and we couldn't be any happier.

Stop looking for a photographer now and hire Patrick Abel. We are so happy with how Patrick handled our entire day and all of our photos are amazing! We booked our photographer 2 years prior to our actual wedding date and therefore met with many photographers, and had our pick of who we wanted. Special Moments Photography was amazing! Patrick matched me with a photographer who fit the photography style that I was looking for and stayed on top of all the communications I had sent. April was our amazing photographer. We spoke prior to the wedding to discuss photography locations, the plan for the day, and what types of photos I was looking for. Special Moments Photography was a dream to work with and very reasonably priced. Our photographer, Patrick C., is so personable and down to earth. After our first phone call with him we knew that we would love working with him. He made us feel as if we'd known him forever. He was so easy to talk to and genuinely listened to what we wanted for our wedding photos. He had some amazing ideas with creative backgrounds and poses and made everyone feel comfortable and relaxed. Plus he kept us on track throughout the evening. Words cannot express our gratitude for Special Moments Photography. They do exactly what their name states...they capture those moments so you can look at them forever. I met Patrick Abel at the studio after looking online for photographers and I fell in love with his style, his keen eye, and his passion for photography. He showed me a breath-taking black and white album and I knew that I had to have him capture our wedding day. He may have looked at me like I was crazy for booking him about 18 months in advance, but it was worth it! We had great communication for the shots that were needed/wanted and he got all of them without a worry. He is so creative and I hopped up on a fire escape and he took shots that looked straight out of a wedding magazine. He was very accommodating at meeting us at the hotel we were staying at for the "getting ready" shots and frolicked all around Downtown Detroit with a smile on his face. He would pause and show us a shot he had just taken, he is so proud of his work and truly loves what he does. I loved all of the 1,300+ photos he took and we got our proofs back in less than a week after our wedding! The hardest part is picking photos for our album. There are too many great ones to choose from. Thank you SO much Patrick and Special Moments for all your hard work. Our friends and family are raving about your work and we will recommend you to all our friends and family! Hopefully we can work together again soon.

I first met Lisa H. when she photographed my friends’ wedding. After the great experience I had as a bridesmaid, I knew that we wanted Lisa to photograph our wedding too. She was so wonderful and easy to work with. She took any shots that we requested and was very quick to come up with creative ideas of her own. Carrie was our wedding photographer and she was wonderful to work with. The only other time my husband and I have been professionally photographed was our engagement shoot (by a different photographer in the city in which we live) and Carrie made me feel completely comfortable with the camera pre-ceremony, and was great keeping the wedding party's attention post-ceremony. She took great family and wedding party shots, detail shots, candids, and photos of my husband and I at the church and reception, always making us feel totally comfortable. She translated our shot list into beautiful photos adding her own expertise to suggest shots that would work better. Even though we are not local, working with Patrick and the studio was easy, professional, and they always made a point to make sure all questions were answered. My husband and I highly recommend them and we couldn't be happier with our photos!

He suggested locations and photographs for the bridal person that we would not have known. All of the photos were beautiful, including the church, outdoors, reception, etc. Nice combination of family photos and bridal party photos. We would highly recommend.

Patrick was our photographer for this special day. We were able to "snag" him last minute as our previously hired photographer "fell though". Patrick is amazing!!! Even after only talking twice on the phone, as soon as Patrick came through the door I knew he was the photographer for us. He had great ideas and also listened to what we wanted. Everyone has raved over our unique, awesome, original and hot photos! Seriously, my 65 year old aunt referred to our photos as hot!! Thank you so so much Patrick. Patrick is one of the most professional people I have ever worked with. He kept the mood light even when the tensions began to rise and kept a smile on everyone's face. Our day was taken personally and he even helped with things he wasn't contracted to do, such as help with ties and coordinating how things were going to proceed. Patrick is the kind of person you dream about working with for your wedding. Not only is he extremely personable, down to earth, FUN and friendly - but he has amazing attention-to-detail, he is professional and easy to follow, he LISTENS thoroughly to what you're looking for and is extremely reliable and responsive. I knew right away when I met him that I'd love working with him and within minutes I felt like I was brainstorming my wedding day vision with an old friend. He helped me to improvise on a few details when they wouldn't work properly at our venue, and turned the idea into something even more awesome. He worked at making sure we had unique poses for those perfect photo. Our photos were beautiful - seriously beautiful. We got SO MANY compliments from our guests. The prices were also extremely reasonable especially considering the level of fantastic service and dedication that they gives to their clients. I honestly can't recommend them enough and am SO glad we chose to work with them for our wedding celebration. The photos will be enjoyed for years to come. It honestly couldn't have been more perfect. From the Engagement Photos to the Mass Photos and then Capturing the Candid and Family Photos at the Reception...Patrick was so professional, so kind and caring...and really took charge with a smile! AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING!!! I cannot say enough about how much we loved working Special Moments Photography for our wedding. From the moment that we met Patrick Abel we knew that we found our photographer, and after we did our engagement shoot with him it solidified our choice. He is very passionate about what he does and it definitely shows in his work. We had an absolute blast working with him, he really has an eye for finding that perfect angle. His excitement is contagious!!! The photos turned out beautiful and we were able to see them just days after the wedding. It was the wedding nightmare that everyone dreads: Three weeks before our wedding, and we found out our photographer (also a friend of the groom) wouldn't be able to make it from overseas. Frantically, we started searching reviews and weighing our options with our budget and the late notice in mind. After seeing their work samples and reasonable pricing, the first place we contacted was Special Moments. Patrick replied within a day, and mentioned that he was, in fact, available on the day of our wedding. We had some more correspondence and a phone call that set us instantly at ease. At least we had SOMEONE! Little did we know that the photography would end up being one of the highlights of our wedding. Patrick felt like family by the end of the day, and was so easygoing and professional. He knew exactly how to get the most stunning and creative shots without us having to say a word. We are so thankful for how everything worked out, and did not regret one bit that our original plans fell through!! Wonderful experience, and I would give Patrick and Special Moments the highest recommendation.

Our wedding was November 2015 at Colony Club downtown Detroit, and we worked with Lisa. From initiating the process with Patrick to working with Lisa, we could not have expected better service! Despite being pregnant, Lisa was hopping construction fences and crouching down low on the ground to get the best shots for us… that gives you the type of idea what dedication this photographer and company has… Despite our crunched timeline and unexpected delay the day of, Lisa got all of our desired locations for photos and more… she helped out with positioning as requested to help avoid awkward photos and caught the artistic and journalistic shots we hoped for. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company and photographer! We love all of our photos – they were quickly edited and available to us much sooner than expected. Overall, captured the special moments and made our day unforgettable. Lisa even helped us with the little things that count like giving advice and guiding the flow of the night, quickly explaining how to cut the cake so we didn’t look ridiculous or grabbing my flowers to help out or adjusting my dress… She went way above and beyond her photographer duties to make our day great and as flawless as possible.
