Worked with Tailored in White as I was recommended by my dress shop, and a friend. Appointments were timely, and Eric did a wonderful job with my dress and making me feel comfortable and confident. I will say it was a little more expensive than I was expecting. I really didn’t need to alter much, but my dress did have many layers to hem and I had my cuffs for my sleeves taken in. But overall I was happy and working with Eric was my favorite part of my fittings!
Brides stay away from this place!!!! If the option for negative stars was available I would use all. It’s so expensive for the stress and anxiety they put you through. They had my dress for months and it wasn’t done until 4 days before my wedding AND There wasn’t anything drastic that needed to be done. Sometimes when an appointment was booked I would show up to go over what they were supposed to do and it was never done on time. There were times where I wasted my time going down there and got sent away because it wasn’t done enough for me to try it on. Management, attitudes, and overall vibe are seriously wrong in this place. I’m really not quite sure how they are still a business but I guess you gotta fake it til you make it. 1 more thing, they shamed me for having as much detail on the bottom of the dress they had to hem because it was a lot of “work” okay and? Isn’t this your job? Have better time management then and don’t blame for choosing the dress I chose for my big day. Please whatever you do do not go here!!!!!!!
Can’t recommend Tailored In White enough!! Being a bride is so stressful and they really made the whole process easy. The team was so communicative and my dress was steamed and waiting for me the morning I got to my venue. And it looked GREAT! I am also using Tailored In White to preserve my dress and I can’t wait to see what it looks like! 10/10 recommend. They are great!!
GLL recommended them bc their old manager, Danielle, worked there. I met w her in March. She had me send pictures of the dress/alterations & said she'd update my file w notes so she could start right away when it got delivered. We had emailed for months. I made an appt as soon as it was delivered but no one recognized, had my file/pics, or knew anything about my dress. I referenced Danielle & was not told she left this shop until after they took my dress. The total was $1300 not including bustle (+$350-400). I was shocked but felt pressured so I paid. I had 5 appointments that got progressively worse, leaving me in tears every time. Each appt started a minimum of 20 min late. I was constantly told tailors were juggling appts & sewing. Frankly, not sure what there is to "juggle." Those 2 tasks are literally the only jobs of a tailor, & it is their responsiblity to hire equipped people. I heard brides all very disappointed w alterations, but I invested so much. Each appointment, my tailor said they were losing a lot of tailors/firing bc they botched dresses/lied about qualifications. No alterations were made & the attempts botched it. It remained ripped open on the sides & wasn't sewn together until my last appt - revealing they only sewn the exterior. The inside was still ripped open, hanging, & dragging visbly lower. My hem, bra cups, cap sleeves, & lace on the back were never done. I vocalized wanting the cap sleeves to be made from the extra material of my dress after hemming. Multiple appts I was presented w 2 fabrics & told to pick 1 so the tailor could make sleeves. I repeatedly stated that I wanted them made from my hem, but the tailor forgot every time. I asked to do a strap lift instead of adding lace to the front bc we were severely running out of time. I paid $80 & was told I'd get a $150 refund for nixing the lace. The refund wasn't initiated bc the "system was down." I was promised it would get taken care of the following week. Next week system was down again. I was told the owner would Zelle & text me to confirm I received it by days end. Neither happened. Following week, I demanded the refund & said I wasn't leaving until it was issued. That appt they also said my sleeve takeup was done. My new seamstress has informed me the right sleeve was take up an entire inch more than the left. The also took in the top SO much I couldn't take a deep breath. I never wanted them to touch the skirt bc it fit pefectly. However without my consent, they hiked the skirt up 4 inches instead of hemming and took it in but only on 1 side. It was so tight on my waist it was digging in, but then the shapely fabric that was supposed to be on my hips was flaring out near the bottom of my waist. The tailor said he thougt the abomination of a dress looked great and claimed they never touched the skirt. I pushed. He ripped open the dress as I was wearing it which revealed all of the previous botched alterations. He said the seamstress working on my dress was fired bc she couldn't sew. Instead of taking accountability and offering to fix this, they said I would need to pay $475 more. Mind you, we are now 2 weeks out from my wedding and no alterations have been done.
I went on Reddit and found a sea of bad reviews that TiW had taken down from Google. I pulled my dress from TiW while there was still time to salvage it. Even though TiW said they would do anything to rectify this, they never issued the refund I asked for.
From start to finish, the experience at Tailored in White was better than I could have imagined. It can be hard to visualize the finished dress when you’re making changes, which can be a little anxiety-inducing, but the micro-fittings helped to ensure every detail was perfection. Allie and the rest of the staff were professional and so kind, and made sure I was comfortable with every little alteration that was made, and that each detail was perfect before moving onto the next part. Both of my dresses fit like a glove, and I couldn’t have asked for better service. Would recommend to any bride!!
This shop is a complete rip off. They were 2 weeks late altering my dress and took no responsibility. They completely destroyed my dress by pulling in the side seams way too much and ruining the design. There should have been nice pleats draping down and instead it was so tight we had rip it open again to force the pleats by pressing and pinning them. They picked lines all down the center from the alteration pins and they claim it is a part of the alterations process but it’s really just their laziness of throwing your expensive dress in the bottom of the bags each appointment. My mom flew out to take my dress back to the destination of our wedding and they knew that was the final pickup date with notes on my sheet about mom taking it but then proceeded to tell me they “didn't know how important that appointment date was with her flying in”. The bustle button flew across the room IN MY PICKUP APPT while showing my mom how to do it. Also in the pick up appointment the side of the dress was completely gapping and the material was not lined up properly & the top was pulling to make one of the pleats gap out. When we told her that was wrong she kept reiterating that this was how it was pinned as if she didn’t want to fix it. Finally my mom stepped in saying we hear you but it’s clearly not laying correctly and needs to be fixed. Since they had to reopen the dress to manipulate the pleats, the hem was 2 inches too long as well. So many issues at pickup appt. I asked multiple times if they were sure the dress would be ready on time and they nonchalantly always said yes then no apology when it wasn’t. Since I no longer trusted them with the dress at this last minute, I had to force them to discuss the issues after the dress was in my hands and even still was a very cheap refund in the scheme of things. Especially considering the alterations alone cost more than the entire dress + veil. Yet they had working interviews on my dress twice that I saw and they told me about in appointments but lied about those people being employees after. Considering the absurd prices, I am not paying for working interviews. Do that on practice dresses, not someone’s real dress. I would not recommend this place at all as they don’t all know what they are doing. It’s too bad because the people are nice but not skilled enough for what they claim to be. I definitely didn’t feel as confident and slim on wedding day as I did trying it on, yet lost weight (mostly anxiety on fitting into this dress). :(
PS - I went to Zizzo’s nearby for another dress and he agreed he would never send anyone there because it’s a rip off. Please learn from my mistakes!!
This review is based on my experience at the Denver, CO location.
I feel that I have to write this review because I would not want any of my fellow brides to experience the stress I felt when receiving my ruined wedding dress days before the wedding.
I want to start out with saying that I had many alterations done to this dress but I think through this I was able to see the lack of care, experience and skill that this tailoring company has.
I also want to say that while there were some well intentioned and kind employees the overall experience and product of their work was highly disappointing.
1. They left lipstick stains on my dress and when I brought this concern up they assured me they would be able to get the stains off. Not only did they not take the stains off they waited until 3-4 days before the wedding to tell me that the stains would not come off but that they could send it to a dry cleaner for an extra charge of $150 (For their mistake, which they continued to blame on me).
2. I asked for the cups on the corset style bodice to be shaped to my smaller chest, which required them altering the pocket and the cup that comes within the corset. They made the pocket smaller but did not bother to cut the actual cup smaller causing a bunching of the padding under the boob and making the bodice look bad.
3. They added material over the dress and used a “tacking” method to hold together the draping. The tacking was falling apart and there was loose threads all over the bodice.
4. They made the mistake of taking the dress in too much by the zipper (they should only take about an inch to ensure that the zipper seams don’t fall apart, as per what they mentioned early on in my appointments and verified through my mother in law who is a seamstress). They then had to put boning in to remedy this mistake. The boning was too long and left me with a tail on my butt. I mentioned this to them several times and they said it was an easy fix, yet when presenting me with the final product of the dress they said there was nothing more they could do.
At the end of the day, I took the dress unsatisfied and had to ask my mother in law to fix their mistakes. She was able to solve all these problems within 2 hours of sewing.
I didn’t ask for her help altering the dress originally because she doesn’t have experience altering a wedding dress and she lives quite far away, but she was able to fix the dress only after she came into town for the wedding.
Lastly, one of their employees was the most rude and unpleasant person I have ever interacted with. Anthony not only told me several times that the mistakes on my dress were an “optical illusion” but also talked down to my mother in law telling her that he has been sewing for 30 years and shouldn’t make any suggestions. Both my mother in law and one of my bridesmaids had the “pleasure” of interacting with Anthony and both commented on how rude he was.
If I could give this place zero stars I would! Do not take your dress here unless you want to suffer major anxiety / risk your wedding dress being ruined.
I provided some photo evidence as well.
Poor quality
LOVED MY EXPERIENCE HERE! I was a lost soul trying to figure out how to go about repurposing my mom’s wedding dress. I felt so much relief after finding TIW. They have micro fitting appointments so I felt the magic of designing my own dress each step of the way! and before they move on to the next step, they make sure you are good with what’s already been done. They were upfront about costs and even save me money by helping me decide what it is I truly wanted in my dress. They brought my vision to life and made my micro backyard wedding feel extra special. I didn’t feel the excitement of wedding planning especially since I did most of the planning on my own while in school, but the experience I had at TIW really flipped that switch and made me feel like a bride. Such a special, once in a lifetime feeling. Thank you TIW staff!
I cannot sing enough praises for the incredible team at Tailored in White. Throughout the several months working with them on my wedding gown, I was met with professionalism, expertise, and genuine care that made my bridal tailoring experience exceptional.
The skill and craftsmanship demonstrated by their talented tailors are unmatched. Ally and Alex were the tailors I worked with and were both very skilled and knowledgable. They took the time to meticulously assess my gown, ensuring every stitch and seam was tailored to perfection. They made my gown look like it was custom made for me. Danielle, the studio manager, has a great bubbly personality and is a friendly face when you’re a stressed out bride.
With frequent micro-fittings leading up to my wedding day, they worked tirelessly to make sure every detail was flawless. They made me feel comfortable and confident throughout the entire process, listening attentively to my preferences and offering valuable insights along the way. I chose to move forward with all of their suggestions, which increased the cost, but made the dress fit like a glove.
With their skilled tailors, frequent appointments, and personalized service, Tailored in White transformed my bridal gown into a work of art. I highly recommend this great team!
Tailored In White was recommended to me by the shop I purchased my wedding gown from. It seemed pricey but upscale. It was also conveniently located. TIW does microfittings, meaning they pretty much only perform one alteration per appt. I had 11 appts with Tailored In White and booked them 3 months prior to the wedding. Originally, I loved this idea. You pay up front but less chance of finding out your dress doesn’t fit at the end due to body changes because you’re constantly putting it on, and they could adjust if need be. The other plus was I got to spend more time in my dress! Here are some of the issues I experienced. For my hem, I was booked for a one hour appt. At the very next appt, my hem wasn't right. They said that it was a complicated dress which I understood and I had to stand for another hour while they ripped the hem out of my dress and repined it. Then go in the very next day because the delay put us behind schedule. We were 4 weeks away from the day. When it came time for the bustle, we were informed that it was $20 per bustle point. My mom and I were confused thinking we had not only paid up front but it was $1,125. We explained that we were not given this info on the day of booking. However, I signed a contract that stated this, and I 100% should have read it more thoroughly. We paid for the bustle and moved on. If that were it and my dress turned out perfectly, I would be willing to give 5 stars. But the last step they do is a “closing” adjustment. When I went in after that specific adjustment for my final pickup (after being there SIX DAYS PRIOR), my dress did not fit in the bust anymore. For the first time ever, it required multiple people to zip me up and I had an extremely squeezed back that looked like it had cleavage. Obviously it had been taken in too much whether it was purposeful or not, I did not gain so much in 6 days that I could possibly now be bursting out of my dress like a can of freaking biscuits. My mom got upset and made it clear this was a problem. The tailor disagreed. There was a literal line in the middle of my back due to how tight the dress was. But to diffuse the situation, I said it was fine and not a problem. Too many things were on my mind, and I didn’t have room for confrontation. I should have made them fix it instead. It obviously fit the same way on the day of the wedding. My mom got it closed, again with the help of others, and then the very top hook busted off 30 seconds later. At that point, I said my hair will cover my back anyway and we don’t have time to dwell. Twice throughout the night, two buttons busted on the back of my dress, again due to the bust being far too tight. I was also somehow tripping on the front of my dress throughout the day. My guess is that once the dress was steamed, it was slightly too long? TIW did the onsite steaming themselves and it seems like something they should’ve thought of before? I have no idea. No one else noticed these things and I looked great but what in the WORLD was the point of spending so much of time at this tailor shop for my dress to not actually fit properly?! I was gobsmacked that this could even be possible, y’all. HOURS of my life was spent here. My tailor had a great energy so I won’t name names but y’all left me no choice in leaving this review. This shop should have done better. Can’t say I recommend. $1,600 to tailor a dress that was $1700 and 11 appointments.
When I bought my wedding dress in Denver, Tailored in White was one of the recommended tailors. After our initial consultation, I knew they were the right choice. I learned about their approach to tailoring (microfittings and multiple shorter appointments) and while it ended up being a decent time commitment the few months leading up to my wedding, it was worth every cent and hour o f time. My dress was perfectly customized to my body - it truly fit like a glove. I felt so comfortable and beautiful in my dress. Their attention to detail and willingness to take time to do things right was so appreciated. Gracie and the entire Denver team were very friendly and great to work with. Extra special kudos go to Anaya - she is THE BEST tailor a girl could ask for. She steamed and fitted my dress on site making sure I looked absolutely perfect on my wedding day. I highly recommend Tailored in White for your wedding dress tailoring!
Highly recommend Herschel and Ivy at Tailored in White. The Team here made me feel right at home and comfortable every step of the way. Ivy spent her time pinning a clipping and cutting and she and Herschel would walk me through each step to ensure I felt confident and comfortable. Herschel spent his time explaining what to expect at each appointment and everything went just as described. On my wedding day my dress fit like a glove and Herschel even packed it into my carry on for me, as my partner and I got married in Mexico.
Only criticism would be the pricing is high, but you get what you paid for as this team did not disappoint.
I highly recommended Tailored in White! I had a wedding dress malfunction & this company was my saving grace. The bridal company made a goof on my dress. It came in the mail large & unflattering. However, Tailor in White was the fairy godmother from Cinderella. They transformed the dress and made it a dream come true. And they are so great to work with. They make you feel like you're family! Plus, they offer cleaning & preserving services for your wedding gown! They did a hell of a job cleaning mine. This is the place for all your bridal dress needs. ILY TIW!
I had the most wonderful experience and am overjoyed with the exceptional service from Tailored In White! Alix meticulously tailored my wedding dress until it fit like a glove; bringing my dream gown to life. The attention to detail, professionalism, and genuine care they showed made the entire experience truly special. The entire team at Tailored In White made the process seamless, and I felt like a princess on my special day. My heartfelt thanks to the talented team for making my wedding day even more magical!
TIW was a dream to work with! They were so fun, sweet, and made sure my dress was exactly as I wanted. My dress fit me like a glove and was absolutely perfect! I couldn't recommend them more.
TIW was amazing every step of the way. They were comprehensive in their initial assessment of my dress and fit, offered options, and stayed on the timeline before my wedding. I had all the trust in them with my wedding gown, highly recommend!
Words can’t even DESCRIBE how awesome this team was! Herschel, Chanae and Ibtihal seriously saved me. I was so worried about how living out of state would affect my alterations, especially with having a very detailed dress, but they truly went above and beyond making sure they could fit me into their schedule in a timely manner. They are so easy to get along with, super quick, and provide really quality work. This team fit my dress to me perfectly, prioritized the details of the dress, and accentuated all the curves flawlessly. I couldn’t be any happier with the results! My family and I had so much fun here and I felt so comfortable, I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. 10/10!
The customer service was amazing, they truly made me feel comfortable and listened to any requests I made. They altered my dress to perfection and it fit very well even though I brought it in with only 5 weeks until the wedding. I felt informed about the whole process and really enjoyed all of Herschel and Ibtihal’s hard work and good energy!
From the moment I contacted Tailored in White, their professionalism and attention to detail were evident. Being pregnant and knowing there was a lot of uncertainty about how I would grow between the start of alterations and my wedding, I was feeling very anxious at the beginning of this process. Their friendly demeanor and genuine passion for their craft immediately put me at ease, making the entire experience better than I expected. Their expertise and eye for detail were remarkable, and I knew my dress was in the hands of a team who truly understood the art of tailoring.
I cannot recommend Tailored in White enough to anyone in need of wedding dress alterations. Their talent, professionalism, and genuine passion for creating perfection are unparalleled. With Tailored in White, you can trust that your dress will be in the hands of a true artist, who will go above and beyond to make your vision come to life. Thank you, Tailored in White, for your exceptional service and for making my wedding dress fit like a dream!
I cannot believe Tailored In White has ANY good reviews. They were absolutely horrible, made excuses, and when I asked for things to be fixed, they proceeded to attack me! They are WILDLY unprofessional and unskilled. You would be better off trying to tailor your dress yourself.
For a little background...I bought a dress, and made the trip up from Tucson for weeks leading up to my wedding. At some point during this process, they must have lost their tailor and didn't tell me. I made 2x weekly trips, to show up and AGAIN have no progress on my dress made. When I showed up to pick up my dress, nothing was complete...it was sloppily done, beads were falling off, the front was absolutely ruined and the "back build up" was mesh with beads haphazardly sewn on. The 'sewn in cups' were 5 stitches on the bottom...and as someone who has done costume design - these are to make sure the placement was correct - NOT the way you present a final product. It was NOTHING like what was described to me. And when I shared that I couldn't get married in this dress (see the pictures) - they became defensive, inappropriate, unprofessional and told me I was being aggressive.
Truly...this place ruined my day and my dress was FALLING OFF of me. I lost beads all night and things were in abysmal shape. The hems, the beads, the straps, the cups, EVERYTHING Tailored in White did to this dress ruined the original design. Please do anything in your power to stay FAR away. Find someone local who has a good reputation!
I absolutely ADORE the entire Tailored in White Team, but ESPECIALLY Herschel!
I had lost a bit of weight since I had bought my dress, so when I initially brought my dress to TIW in January, they already had bit of work to do to take it in. Little did I know that between January and May (my wedding), I would continue to lose weight to the point where I dropped down two sizes! While losing weight on accident was a delight for me, I knew it was a nightmare for Herschel and the team! Every couple of weeks I would come in and they would tell me we needed to take in the dress more. I knew it was delaying their ability to make progress in other areas of the dress, but even still Herschel was always SO patient and attentive. He shouldered all of the stress so I didn’t have to. In the end, my dress fit like a glove!
With all of the millions of other things a bride has to worry about, my dress was never one of them. The passion and pride the team takes in their work is what put my nerves at ease right away. It was bitter sweet the day I picked up my dress to take home.
By the end of my time with TIW, I would look forward to my appointments not only because I would get to see my dress, but because I’d get to hang out with Herschel!
I had an incredible experience at Tailored in White and I’m so grateful for Herschel and the rest of the team!
Absolutely loved my monthly visits to Tailored In White, they made sure to pay close attention to every detail possible. We even added personal touches to my veil. Hands down getting their day of service package was beyond helpful!
Tailored In White was the perfect place to bring my wedding dress for alterations. Not only did I bring my ceremony dress in for alterations, I brought in my mom's wedding dress from the 80's to be transformed into a new, modern dress for me. My mom's dressed turned out even better than I could have imagined and you can tell they take pride in their work. They were meticulous, thoughtful, and detail-oriented. They made me feel safe to share honest feedback to ensure I was happy. I can't recommend Tailored In White enough!!
I recently had my wedding dress altered at Tailored in White. Their team added beautiful halter straps to my strapless gown and I am absolutely thrilled with the results! The team at this company were incredibly professional and attentive to my needs, and they took the time to make sure that my dress fit me perfectly.
From my first consultation with them, I knew I was in great hands. The team listened to me and took the time to understand what I wanted to achieve with my dress alterations. They were able to provide great ideas to help me achieve the look I wanted and were also very flexible and responsive throughout the entire process.
When I picked up my dress, I was amazed by how stunning it looked with the halter straps. They were exactly what I had imagined, and the workmanship was impeccable. They had even gone to the extent of matching the tulle on the straps to the tulle on the dress, which really added a beautiful touch. I received so many compliments on my dress on my wedding day, and I am absolutely thrilled with the end result.
I would highly recommend this wedding dress alterations company to anyone that is looking for high-quality, personalized alterations for their wedding dress. They truly went above and beyond to make sure that my dress was perfect and I could not be more thankful for their expertise and attention to detail. Thank you so much for making my wedding day even more special!
For TIW Denver location:
My experience with tailored in white was truly amazing. I used TIW for wedding dress alterations/bustle as well as making a custom robe for my wedding day from my mother's wedding dress. Every single time I was in my dress the TIW team made me feel so special and attended to. I also thought the bustle was amazing and did not change or impact the silhouette of my dress. They were also very thoughtful with adding the belt to my dress and making it so there was no gap where the belt clasped together. I also want to give a special shoutout to Michael who worked very closely with me through this process. He has such a great energy and was so easy to work with when building the robe from my mom's dress. Trust me when I say this group of people will take really good care of you and make you feel so amazing in whatever you chose to wear on your wedding day. I cannot recommend them enough and feel that every penny was money well spent.
Unfortunately, I chose to ignore the negative reviews and it was the worst mistake I made. My wedding was April 7th, I took my dress in January 10th and didn’t take it home until April 3rd. 4 days BEFORE my wedding. I paid over $1500 for alterations that weren’t even completed and my dress still didn’t fit how it was suppose to. The nightmare started on March 16th, it was the last day for alterations as I was suppose to pick up my dress March 28th. The corset part was still falling down so they suggested I add boning as the corset the dress originally had, was “for show,” basically not “strong” enough to hold the dress up. I paid for the boning and on March 28th, the pick up day, none of the boning was even installed (even though that was paid for). All they had to do was install boning on the sides to make it hold up, as they said this was the fix to keep the dress from falling. Instead, they took the dress in and made it tighter where it was uncomfortable and extremely unflattering. They said they would add the boning and let it out to make it loose. I returned March 30th and the boning still wasn’t placed! If a customer pays for something and the company takes the money but doesn’t do it, wouldn’t that be considered FRAUD? This makes me think back of all the things I paid for that weren’t even done. I had to return April 3rd for the final try on and finally take my dress home but it STILL wasn’t altered correctly. I arrived at 1:30PM and left at 6:30PM. They needed to fix the zipper they messed up and add last minute straps as my dress was still falling. I told them I had an appt across town and needed to be done by 4PM. They didn’t text or call me so I had to walk in at 3:50PM and wasn’t taken back until 4:30PM. Very inconsiderate of my time and made me re-schedule my appt. After trying it on, it was still tight so they had to take it back and let it out. It got to the point where I was so stressed, I just took the dress home as it was.
I ended up going to a seamstress for an emergency alteration and even she said she’s heard HORROR STORIES from Tailored in White. The only good I can think of is that their staff is nice. Other than that, this was the worst experience I’ve ever had and the ONLY stress I experienced during the whole wedding process. I would advise all brides to avoid this place at all costs, not worth it at all. The negative reviews this business has are true and similar, if not exactly what happened to me.
I LOVED my experience here; I had my wedding in March 2023 and had my dress with the team from March 2022 up until the week of my wedding. I went in about once per month up until “crunch time” and the team was so incredibly helpful at each step. They helped me bring my vision to life and made my perfect dream dress a reality. I would absolutely recommend this team to ANYONE needing bridal alterations or just formal alterations in general.
DO NOT bring your wedding dress to Tailored in White. It is absolutely terrible what they are doing to brides. They made my wedding week an absolute nightmare. They had been working on my dress for MONTHS, I had been in for so many sessions, they pushed my final pickup date three times and at the end couldn't guarantee that it would be ready on any certain day the week of my wedding. They just give you the blanket "we won't let it out our door until we know it is absolutely perfect". And they were telling me that up until 5 days before my wedding. I pulled my dress THE WEEK OF MY WEDDING because they were nowhere near done and when I went in to retrieve my dress from them they magically had a plan ready for me. DO NO TRUST THEIR SALES BULLSHIT. They had my dress for months and at every appointment little to no work was being done. They told me the week of my wedding that they wanted me to come in and "look at the before and after pictures because they felt I was having a hard time visually understanding the process" and that they "still have plenty of time". They were telling me all of this on Monday and my wedding was that Saturday. The week of my wedding my dress was still nowhere near being complete and I finally pulled it and had to have it rush tailored and this women SAVED my dress. She literally had to undo everything they did and rebuild it (my dress had no lace, no embellishments, no nothing it was a very basic crepe dress). She said the work they did was so sloppy, with crooked lines, the bustle was already broken, they left holes in the front of my dress because they used pins, they sewed my dress unevenly when taking in the sides, and instead of owning up to it and telling me how they were going to fix it they looked at me with a blank face and asked me what I wanted them to do about it, where I wanted them to adjust seams as if I am the tailor?! and said "its just my body" and "my right side is my dominant arm so it isn't going to feel the same". They are so unprofessional, insulting, and manipulative. shift blame for everything....the number of times they blamed my body for my dress not fitting correctly is absurd. And whenever you point something out or express ANY bit of concern they get so defensive and rude. And be careful if you have any family with you and if that family member expresses any concern they will call you and tell you that you are no longer allowed to bring that family member with you to appointments. They did this to my mom. My mom and I had been expressing the same concerns during this whole process and they told me that she could no longer come with me to see the work being done on her daughter's wedding dress and told me that if I had spoken up and expressed concerns they would've known what they needed to do to get a game plan in place. They acted as if I had never spoken up before and when I said that is absolutely not true they just said "well that is just a miscommunication then". I couldn't believe that they just acted as if I had never said anything before. I was dumbfounded. The level of manipulation and gaslighting is next level at this place. They talk their sales game and tell you to "trust the process" and have brides on this manipulation hamster wheel and it is so so terrible. I don't know how they sleep at night doing this to all these women. If you are a bride and your dress is currently here pull it and run. If you are a bride looking for a tailor DO NOT GO HERE.
Absolutely HORRIBLE experience at Tailored In White Scottsdale location. They make you pay in advance so you are held hostage throughout their alteration "process". They string you along with 10+ appts where nothing is sewn and then one week before the wedding everyone is freaking out causing extreme anxiety on the bride. You never see the same person so there are multiple people touching and sewing your dress with no consistency. They had the dress for 6 months and managed to disassemble it then could not put it back together. When I voiced my concern they asked me not to come back with my daughter. Apparently, they have dismissed other relatives as well when they are questioned as they do not want their customers hearing complaints. The work is sub-standard (lining not laying properly, bustle pins falling off, lines not sewn straight...). They took in each side of the dress bodice; right side was too tight and not laying properly; they had no solution whatsoever and told my daughter it was because she was right handed and lost weight! They did not even have the breast cups sewn in 6 days before the wedding. It is the blame game. Manager shifts blame on everyone with NO solutions offered. We finally had to leave 6 days before the wedding with an unfinished and PAID for dress and take it to a competent seamstress so it was ready for her wedding day. My daughter is in the wedding invitation business and posted her experience on her Instagram page to warn other brides. So many brides, wedding planners and even the bridal salon reached out to her saying they had horrible experiences and would never refer them again. The bridal salon apparently removed them from their referral list months ago because there were so many complaints. Had we only known... Brides stay away from Tailored in White!
Everyone at tailored in white was amazing!! They did an amazing job on my dress. It for like a glove!
Please do not bring your wedding dress to Tailored in White. My bridal alterations experience was a nightmare, and I would hate to have what happened to me happen to anyone else.
I was anxious to store my wedding dress in my house, so chose to bring it to Tailored in White a full six months in advance of my wedding. The team assured me that (because of their “microfittings”/many appointment format) having such a long timeline to work with would mean that I’d avoid a last minute scramble. Unfortunately, this was not the case as my dress was only finished three days before my wedding, causing me extreme stress and panic. I had to go in for a fitting every single day leading up to the wedding and was horrified to see minimal progress each time. The team shared no explanation or apology for this situation.
Ultimately, I wore the dress for my wedding and believed that the alterations had been completed satisfactorily. However, when I brought the dress elsewhere for cleaning/preservation after the wedding, the cleaner was shocked by the shoddy quality of my alterations. Within seconds of first seeing the dress, she pointed out to me that the side seam under the arm was entirely misaligned—off by about an inch. I am glad I did not notice this myself before the wedding, as there would not have been time for Tailored in White to fix this.
I decided to call the bridal shop who recommended Tailored in White to suggest that they stop sending brides there. They shared with me that they have recently received a “wave” of calls just like mine, with brides sharing similar terrible experiences. They had already removed Tailored in White from their list of suggestions.
Tailored in White’s absurd fee was the worst money that I’ve ever spent. I thought that I was paying for my peace of mind and a job well done—instead, I got the exact opposite.
Awful. I dropped my dress off in June for an October wedding. They had me come every other week to build custom sleeves and to tailor the hem/take in the sides, etc. $1300. The staff was inexperienced, they left stains on my dress that I had to ask them to clean (which then caused fraying off the lace from scrubbing so hard?!) left needles in my dress, and a lot of times wouldn’t make any progress on my dress for weeks but still made me come and try it on. They kept pushing back my final pick up date because no progress was being made… Wedding day comes, the custom sleeves they built had ripped, the hem and bustle were falling apart. All they could say to me was that they were not responsible for the “wear and tear”… but really they should be responsible for poor sewing. Do not waste your money and time on a shop like this for such an important day.
TIW truly does stand by their guarantee to make your dress meet your expectations. I feel like what helped me is Cora & Dynell explaining why certain things needed to happen to my dress and how they were going to fix my concerns along the way. I had never been to a seamstress that has you come in so regularly and those conversations helped talk me off the ledge cause it is stressful to be a bride during the planning process! I feel those 2 truly made my time there an awesome experience. Also, a huge shoutout to Maryam as she put a lot of work into fixing my zipper the week of my wedding (the original design of the zipper was a pain in the butt - no pun intended - the whole time I was getting my dress altered).
I will say there are expectations of being at a TIW such as:
1. Expect a high cost toward your alterations and know your initial quote does not include your bustle, a day of kit for your dress (optional purchase), or addition of weights to your dress to smooth out the seams.
2. Expect to come in every 1-2 weeks for 30 min-1 hour
3. If you’re getting your alterations done during wedding season, expect most of your alterations to be done closer to your wedding date. Don’t freak, they’ll make sure that it’s done in time! I got my dress 4 days before my wedding day.
Thank you TIW team for explaining the process to this bride & making my dress look absolutely amazing.
Everyone at TIW was just the best!! They are so detail oriented and have such a talented team of seamstresses to make all your visions come to life!! They were so accommodating and made my vision for my dress/bustle come to life!! I could not recommend them more! The fact they also have your dress covered under their business insurance and provide a contract for you gives you peace of mind leaving your dress with them!!
I was referred to tailored in white by many of my clients! I had 5 appointments in total and loved every minute of it! The Scottsdale location is stunning! The staff is so attentive and amazing! I had such a fun time with every vist! My bustle was STUNNING! Worth every single penny! You literally get to watch your dress mold to your body with each appointment! 10/10 would recommend to every bride wanting the most special, custom experience with your dress!
I was recommended Tailored in White - Portland from True Society, where I purchased my wedding dress, and had the pleasure of working with Melissa. I could not have been happier working with her. She was super professional and educational throughout the process. I know nothing about style or alterations, so the fact that Melissa talked me through everything lifted so much weight off my shoulders and made me feel confident in our decisions. She was very clear about any additional finances and the process of booking additional appointments, so I was not confused or caught off guard by anything. 12/10, I highly recommend! Thank you Melissa!
THESE WOMEN ARE MAGICAL!!! I recently went to the Colorado TIW team! This is the place to go 10000%! I trusted these beautiful gals with my wedding dress and they did not disappoint! My dress is full of so much fabric, sparkle and glitter and I was initially afraid of anyone working with the fabric but those thoughts instantly went away when I saw how talented this team is. Every single time I came in here, I was greeted amazingly and treated with such kindness. They’re so easy to contact and schedule with. They listened to everything I wanted to fix and they gave me their professional opinions and when I decided some other things that were best for me, they supported me every single time. I truly felt like I was around friends every time I came in here. I felt so supported and beautiful every single time. I actually looked forward to every time I came in. Everyone here is full of knowledge and they do such beautiful work. Any time I had questions they answered them fully and in detail and they did every single thing I wanted done. They even offer an amazing emergency kit that I definitely took advantage of! How great!!! Everything in one place! I now have the PERFECT dress. Don’t walk but RUN here for your alterations! I trust these women 100% and I will forever use them going forward and I will 100% be recommending them to anyone who will listen. I shared a couple of moments with this team that I will remember forever. I’m wondering what else I need altered just so I can go in again! Lol! If you’re looking for the best alterations in the state of Colorado, this place is it!! I could go on and on forever about how great they are. Thanks for making me feel so beautiful Tailored in white team! I LOVE YOU!
I originally went to Tailored in White after a friend of mine used them and loved them. My first appointment was an easy fix - just two wrinkles on either side of the dress due to where the slip was sewn to the inside of the dress.
After taking a look, they mentioned putting weights on the bottom of the dress since the seam was too close. I said sounds great! I asked them what else they would recommend as I hadn’t had alterations before. They said adding cups would be a good idea to make the straps less tight. I agreed and we added that to the list.
When I came back in when it was ready, the cups had been sewn lightly on and the seams hadn’t been adjusted at all. When I mentioned the seams to the tailors… it was strange. They had the exact same conversation with me as we had at my first appointment. “Weird, it looks like this is where the seam is sewn on the inside… we’ll see what we can do.” I thought, “huh??” but was glad they were going to work on it ASAP.
They worked on it and adjusted the cups like I asked since they were showing in certain areas. We tried the adjustments a few times (which was fine), and they ended up deciding to just remove the seam entirely and told me I would probably need to pull it down on the day-of. Not a huge deal… except I wasn’t happy when I got my photos back.
The cups are showing in multiple photos and the slip on the inside is bunched up a lot and it was SO difficult to pull down. While I was in love with the dress, I wish I would’ve kept the seams as-is and had my mother sew in cups that didn’t move. It only cost about $200, but I would’ve rather spent that money on groceries tbh.
The BEST tailor for wedding gowns. I could not recommend TIW more, their attentive service and perfect fit of my gown made me feel like a queen for my wedding. They perfectly fitted my gown (even after multiple refits - thanks COVID) and were an absolute pleasure to work with. 💕
Tailored In White absolutely made my wedding! I loved their micro-fitting process, because not only did it ensure a perfect fit, it was so much fun coming in to see them leading up to my wedding date. No matter how stressed I was with the wedding planning, as soon as I slipped my dress on, it all melted away. They were so knowledgeable as to how to create the perfect fit. My gown fit like a glove! I was so comfortable all day - I could sit and dance! Thank you TIW for being such a special part of my day, I have never felt more beautiful!
I got married in March of 2021, and my experience with Tailored in White was atrocious. It pained me to even give them one star. I've seen the way that TIW responds to negative reviews and for that reason, I wasn't going to leave a review because my mom and I have already been falsely accused of harassing Cora and her employees. But I was just looking at pictures my hideous wedding dress after they altered it, and I figure if I can save one bride from using this company, it's worth the review.
I was traveling to Scottsdale for my wedding and was told that the few alterations that my dress needed could be done in the weeks leading up to my wedding. I met with a seamstress in December of 2020 and they made notes about what needed to be done. A few weeks before my wedding, the alterations started. To make a long story short, I visited TIW eight times in two weeks and they could not get my dress to lay properly. It looked worse at every single visit, and three days before my wedding, I decided to leave the store with my dress in hand and find another seamstress. I spoke with the girls who were working there and they said that they would refund me in full and apologized for the inconvenience. I spent my wedding week looking for a new dress (I thought mine was ruined) and eventually found someone who was able to salvage what they could. I was not happy with my dress at my wedding, but I made the best of it.
A few weeks later, I had still not received my refund so I emailed TIW asking to speak with Cora. They said that my mom and I were in violation of their contract and that Cora would not be taking my call due to how the staff was treated. I once again asked for the refund that I was promised and they did not respond to my email, but sent me a contract instead. The contract said that I would be refunded $350 dollars if I promised not to make any disparaging comments about the business. I chose not to sign it and leave this review instead.
Whatever you do, do not come here for your alterations. Their "trial and error" approach doesn’t always work out and when you’re unhappy with the final product, the team becomes impossible to work with.
I had 20 appointments with Tailored in white for my wedding dress. They were unprofessional my first few visits and I got a different girl every time so there was no consistency. They moved my final dress appointment to the day before my wedding. I could not try my dress on for the last time as i had gotten a spray tan but they assured me everything was perfect. That was wrong... come to find out my bustle on my dress was incomplete and it prevented me from dancing comfortably with my first dance and my father daughter dance. Thankfully i had a end of the night dress i was able to change into but i had to put it on a lot sooner than i would've liked. I called to tell them my concerns and see what they could do in order to make this right. They offered me $100 off of the cleaning and preserving of my dress and that felt like a slap in the face. I have had friends who have had this same experience if not a worse experience with tailored in white. They don't care about quality of service and they are absolutely quantity over quality. If you are considering using Tailored in White for your wedding dress alterations i would recommend going elsewhere.
I could go on and on about why I am leaving a bad review, this place came highly recommended and at first I was happy. Something changed about 5 months ago, I just don't know what. They are not like other tailors, you have to go in 10+ times). You will pay $1400+ for what other tailors would charge you $500-700 for. You will not see the same person or even the seamstress who will be altering your dress. You will be left in a hot room waiting for them to get to you which has pins, glitter, thread and open safety pins sticking out of the rug. Towards the end of your appointments you probably won't see much progress on your dress and if you question why it's because you're so far out, or they tried to and the sleeve kept falling off (?). I felt like I couldn't be honest with them towards the end because anything I questioned I was brushed off and I just wanted my dress at that point. I worry about leaving this review, they have been texting me asking for photos so they can post on social media and I don't want to continually be contacted by them. I just want to warn other brides because this place had amazing reviews and came highly recommended but something changed. In April/May I could tell something had shifted but against my better judgment I kept going back. My sister is a seamstress and was appalled at the quality, questioned the specific boning used and the lack of detail experienced seamstresses should have. The inside was sewed back together so sloppily, the bustle had missing pieces, my sister had to fix several things two days before my wedding. I had to sign a paper saying I was satisfied at pickup and I only did it because I did not want to deal with them anymore (4 days before my wedding when my dress was supposed to be done 2 weeks earlier per Cora). Save yourself money and heartache and find another alterations place who will give much better service.
I had to send my dress to another tailor one week before my wedding because their solution to having nothing done and my dress not fitting was to find another dress. Under no circumstances should you go here. They were inefficient, unprofessional, and of poor quality-- without a doubt my experience with TIW was the only negative part to my entire wedding. As mentioned, one week before my wedding they were still trying to get a simple strapless dress to stop slipping. Instead of finding another dress as they suggested, I instead had my dress sent to a tailor at our destination finish it-- it took her 2 hours to finish the key parts that they couldn't accomplish in 4 months. Then at the wedding I lost an HOUR of time because my planner, photographer, and MOH all had to MacGyver the bustle they messed up, then the entire zipper (that they were supposed to have replaced since appt #1) broke and my bridesmaid had to sew me into my dress. Even beyond that, throughout the experience the level of unprofessionalism took me aback-- between comments about my body ("Maybe the dress keeps slipping because your boobs got even smaller?") to comments about other brides and seamstresses. Also unbelievably overpriced for the garbage experience and unnecessary stress. Again, under no circumstances should you come here.
My daughter went to Tailored in White at the recommendation of the bridal salon that she bought the dress from. We went in for our first fitting on July 21, 2021 and were promised that the dress would be ready September 1, 2021. (The wedding is October 9, 2021). The dress needed minor alterations such as shoulders moved up, hemmed and waist brought in a little. Honestly after 6 fittings and not much being done, I got a voice message from them stating that our appointment would be canceled and that they couldn't possibly make this deadline. This message was left on September 16. I had to go to another wedding alterations lady who "hoped" she could fix the less than professional job they did on my dress. I am still waiting to hear if the dress can be saved or if I have to rush out and find another. I wouldn't consider going to this shop. Not only are they inconsiderate of your time by making you wait for your appointment but they don't seem to get anything done in between the appointments. Weddings are stressful enough without having to deal with Tailored in White.
The rating “not my type” is exactly how I would describe my feelings after working with Tailored in White for over a year and a half. First and foremost, I want to clarify that my review of this business is purely coming from a place of being wanting to give an honest and open review of my experience because I wished that I had, had this information before making the decision to hire this vendor. Just a bit of background my wedding was originally set for 10/26/20 but due to COVID we pushed it back, thus I worked with Tailored in White for a longer than normal time span. I spent hours researching all my vendors and hoped that I was making the best-informed decisions at the time.
The ladies were friendly, fun and made the consultation an open and relaxed experience. They required a charge of $50 to make the consultation appointment which was nonrefundable but could go toward the expense of your alterations if you chose to use them. At this initial consultation, the ladies broke down the cost of alternations, the standard schedule of their fittings, and what to expect up until the day of my wedding. Begin a type A personality, I felt relaxed and relieved that the shop had plans and protocols in place, it felt like there was little room for error.
Just for reference of budget and my expectations relating to their costs. My dress cost $2,000 off the rack and my dress only required shortening/ hemming of the skirt, adjusting the strap length, and taking the bust in a bit. Overall, the original size of dress I bought was not far off my exact measurements, thus I was pretty surprised that the total for my alterations came to a little over $1500, without any additional cost of bustling. However, the seamstress suggested additional boning to my bust area to give the top a smoother overall better look and I understood this task is tedious and would require expertise and time, thus $$$. My naive self-thought, “well this is a shop in Scottsdale, they had great reviews and I wanted my dress to look fabulous so whatever it costs”. “I had already spent a decent amount on it, I did not want to have a beautiful dress to start with and a poor final product”.
So, I left my dress with the ladies and felt confident that it was safe and I was going to be well taken care of.
Once again, this is just my perspective and experience but I had spent over a year and a half expressing my concerns about the straps and feeling like I had been to many appointments and nothing had been addressed. And during my first dance during a high point of the song, I raised my arms to cheer in celebration and my strap broke… and I really feel like this wardrobe malfunction could have been avoided. This one dance movement was not crazy or any ballet-type movements but just the raising of my arms, that is all it took.
So here is my takeaway from my experience, I had wished that my dress had only been worked with by one seamstress who knew my wishes, my body, and my dress. I wished that I had stuck up for myself and requested that the straps be a higher priority sooner than the week before my wedding and overall; I wished I had interviewed more alteration shops and or asked friends and family for suggestions. Internet reviews are great but unless you know the person, it can be difficult to make the best choice without knowing all the perspectives.
My full review will be on their website and Yelp for a better explanation and understanding of my rating.
I am so glad I found these girls to help make my dress perfect for the big day. When I brought my dress to them I actually cried because it looked completely different then it did when I originally tried it on in the store. I hated it and wanted to completely change it. The girls were so wonderful and reassured me we could change it if I really wanted to.... or they can make it look like it did when I originally fell in love with it. I decided to give it a try and capture the original look I was going for. They totally delivered on their promise. They did an amazing job and went above and beyond to make my dress perfect.
The women at Tailored in White are AMAZING! They were always professional and easy to talk to. They understood the vision I had for my dress from day one. I also hired them to do alterations for my bridesmaid and my Mom. They did a fantastic job with all three dresses. They were also very accommodating for my schedule since I was an out-of-state bride.
I highly recommend adding day of services into your budget as well. Having Alexa there on my big day was a huge help. She did a fantastic job steaming my dress, and she made a few last minute alterations to make my dress look perfect. Alexa also made sure my train looked perfect in all the pictures. Lastly, she bustled my dress right before our entrance, which was a huge help. I can't thank her enough for helping make my day perfect!
There aren't enough words for how incredible Tailored in White is. They are extremely talented and hardworking, they are SO good at what they do. The girls here are all professional, the place itself is cute, and they're all about empowering women which I love. I brought my wedding dress in at the recommendation of my dress shop, and am so glad I did. I actually hated my dress when we began, but I had a vision in mind and they made it come true plus some. The things they noticed on my dress and fixed are things that were major but I never would've noticed if they hadn't shown me. I felt incredible on my wedding day, with a completely changed design just like I wanted. The process at TIW is a bit more lengthy than other tailoring places, but each appointment is painless and thorough. I enjoyed getting to put my dress on so often and change things little by little, rather than having one or two appointments and hoping it was what I wanted right before the big day! I also moved from Phoenix to Denver during this process, but lucky me, their other location is in Denver! The girls moved my dress to Denver for me and continued my appointments and then moved it back to Phoenix for my wedding. Funny enough, a record breaking snow storm made it so I missed an appointment the week of my wedding, of course the girls worked with my insane schedule and STILL got me in. I consistently felt confident in their abilities and that my needs were heard and met. To add one last bonus, my mother brought her mother of the bride dress in and needed something fixed by the next day. The girls kept her there a couple of hours that day and made the magic happen, my mom got to be comfortable in her dress because of them!! Stop searching for any other tailor, this is it.
I had my wedding dress fitted and altered at Tailored in White - and they made the entire experience so fun and my dress turned out beautifully! Everyone on their team is friendly and easy to work with, and their shop is so pretty. You really do feel like a “bride” when you walk in for each fitting.
My dress was all lace, and they fitted it to me perfectly while still keeping all the natural edges and beautiful lace details. I don’t know anything about sewing so it was incredible to see all the techniques and skills they have to make these dresses flawless.
It is an investment, but nothing different than any other wedding alterations shops, and I love their process. You pay for your wedding dress alteration package up front (except for the bustle - that comes later) and then from that point forward they do every little thing they can to give you your perfect dress! It allows you to make your payment and then just enjoy the tweaking and perfecting process without having to worry if each update is going to cost more money.
I highly recommend Tailored in White for your wedding dress alterations!
Tailored in White is AMAZING! I always wanted to wear my grandmother’s wedding dress from the 1940s because my mother also wore it. Since the dress has so much sentimental value, I was very nervous about having someone alter it to fit. Tailored in White put me at ease from the very start and my seamstress treated my dress as if it were her own mother’s. I was not always the easiest to work with and everyone there remained professional. Overall, they are very talented, professional, and caring!
The girls at tailored in white are absolutely AMAZING! They are so sweet and easy to work with. They made my dreams come true with my dress and really took the time to focus on the small details that made all the difference! They do amazing work and you know that your dress is in good hands with their team!
TiW single handedly made me feel like a total movie star! Their day-of services are EVERYTHING!!! Not only did they build the most beautiful version of my dresses (yes, they did THREE for me), they did so through a bunch of stress and panic on my end- and they handled it with ease and patience. I am so grateful for them.
THEN--- DAY OF!!! You must get day-of services!!! Seriously, to have a stylist on site was unbelievable, they literally seed the dress on me, made sure it looked flawless in every picture! Then they helped me with the dress change and refresh! Then when I ripped my dress while dancing, Cora literally sewed it up while I sat at my dinner table and had a cocktail.
I literally consider these women friends now. They are cool, interesting, hard-working, passionate, and AMAZING! So grateful that they did my dresses AND were a part of my special day.
EXTREMELY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
