The Abbey Resort & Avani Spa

Steph at the Abbey helped us from beginning to end make sure our wedding weekend went off without a hitch. It was VERY convenient to have food and linens in house, making it easier to not have to communicate with additional outside vendors. They provide excellent lists of recommended vendors for flowers, cakes, music, officiants, etc. We were able to have a ceremony on the harbor lawn that flowed directly into cocktail hour and a reception in the pavilion space. We also had a beautiful welcome party on the harbor patio for all of our guests following our rehearsal dinner on Lake Geneva cruise line the night prior. The Abbey is truly a one stop shop for all wedding weekend events and guest accommodations. We cannot thank Steph enough for making our wedding dreams come true!

We give The Abbey Resort the highest rating because of our wedding coordinator, Stephanie, and also because of the food, the venue itself, and the beauty of the location. Every single guest remarked about the entire wedding and made special mention of the food. The service and bartenders were excellent, and we can't say enough about Stephanie. She communicated well, created the menu, which included special dietary needs, and pulled it all together. Our wedding was spectacular. Thank you to The Abbey.

We would HIGHLY recommend The Abbey for a wedding venue, especially if the outdoor space is available. Stephanie and the staff were so accommodating and helped make our big night everything we had hoped it would be. From the planning to the actual event, everything went smoothly, and the outdoor tent was everything we had imagined it would be. From the food to the vendor suggestions, we enjoyed all of it!

We stayed here for the mini-moon immediately following our wedding and were underwhelmed. The grounds were nice, but the resort itself wasn't as nice as we expected for a full-blown resort. Our room was fine, but nothing special - king bed, couch and mini-fridge. The restaurants on-site were good, but pretty expensive. We stayed 2 nights. After the first, we asked if the room could be cleaned or if we could at least get a bathroom linen change - they left all the dirty towels on the floor and only replaced the bath towels. The day of checkout, we had booked a late check out (1pm) so that we could unwind a bit after our massage at their spa, and sure enough house-keeping came knocking at 12:40. We felt so flustered and rushed out that we actually left something in the room and had to drive back to the resort later that night to retrieve it (after trying 6 times to get someone on the phone to verify it had been found). The spa was not a very relaxing experience either, especially for the cost. The hot tub, which we enjoyed before and after, was nice. We had a couples massage. The walls were so thin that we could hear the whole conversation and service for the woman in the room next to us. For the first 10 minutes they were talking and running a bath or something for her and we couldn't even hear the spa music over the sound of the water for her tub. When she got out of the tub 15-20 minutes later, there was more talking, tub draining and the patron even accidentally opened the door and started to walk into our room in the middle of our massage. The massage lotion was borderline chilly when applied, so definitely not warmed. The bill for the massage alone was $350 - for that much, I really did expect more. They might do a good job putting on weddings, but we won't be staying there or recommending them as a hotel/resort/spa to anyone.

We highly recommend getting married at the Abbey!! Specific shout out to Jonathan Puls, our coordinator. Jonathan made the entire wedding planning process easy and fun! He was always very diligent and we always felt like he was giving us his complete attention :) Jonathan gave us great guidance and always went above and beyond - leading to a seamless wedding day!! We are so happy we chose The Abbey Resort for our wedding weekend! Stephanie was amazing from start to finish! She helped us plan our rehearsal, wedding day, and morning after brunch to perfection! She was always so responsive and helpful with every little question we had. She worked so well with our wedding planner and on wedding day we didn't have to think about a thing! The Abbey was so great for our guests and gave them all a great weekend at Lake Geneva. It's a beautiful place to get married right on the lake. Highly recommended to anyone looking in the Lake Geneva area!

The Abbey was absolutely stunning to have our wedding at. Everything about it was perfect. Johnathan was a massive help with us throughout the whole planning process. Could not be more thankful for him and our coordinator. He was always extremely quick with an answer to all of my questions. A bride is always stressed, but I was definitely less stressed because of the team at the Abbey. It all turned out so wonderful. It was my dream place to get married and it turned out better than I could have ever imagined.

Starting from the first call we had with Amelia (Sales Manager in charge of their room blocks) last November while Jonathan (Wedding-Catering Sales Manager) was out of the office, we knew The Abbey was going to be an amazing venue to work with. Her vibrant personality could be felt over the phone, and made me feel like we’d known her for years. This rang true through every single phone call and email we had during our wedding planning, all the way through being onsite for our wedding week. Amelia is friendly, approachable, a great listener, accommodating, timely, and hospitable to name just a few. We genuinely felt like she cared about the success of our wedding, and the experience that our guests were going to have. She went as far as working with the reservations team to ensure we got a suite that was previously reserved when it opened up, customizing our wedding block to fit our guests’ needs, helping ensure guest welcome bags were distributed, and welcoming us for our stay with a gift basket + note. We truly believe we would have ended up having our wedding elsewhere if I hadn’t tracked her down last November. 🙂 Similar to Amelia - from the first time we connected with Jonathan to start planning our wedding, we knew we had something unique in our venue team, and felt confident we’d be in great hands throughout the process. Jonathan always responded to our frequent emails in an extremely timely manner – often right away even when we told him to wait until business hours – and it often felt like he was one step ahead of us. He was extremely helpful with providing his industry expertise, guiding our decision making based on previous experience with weddings / large events, and felt confident that he ultimately had our best interests in mind. He helped us incorporate unique components / details to our wedding that our guests are still talking about, and gave us the sweetest welcome package in our suite! (And recommended we book a great secluded suite!) Jonathan somehow was able to accommodate all of our requests in some way or another, and always made us feel like he was so personally invested. We never could have imagined working with someone so responsive, flexible, detail-oriented, and somehow as passionate about our wedding as we were. His organizational and coordination skills shined exceptionally throughout the last 10 months – even the day after the wedding he was helping us move things out of the ballroom and transferring flowers to brunch. He was truly there every step of the way. We have not been able to stop raving about both Jonathan and Amelia to anyone who asks, and can confidently say we don’t have any negative feedback to share about our experience. Our guests have been the same way and have all been positively commenting on their whole experience. Any challenges that came up throughout our process were always met with solutions, a clear path forward, and their team going above and beyond. Jonathan and Amelia were even there to see us out the Monday after our wedding as we departed, and made not only us but also our parents feel like family. Truly everyone from check-in, Greg at valet, and restaurant + spa staff, to the catering + events teams and management being open to our ever changing requests (+ and keeping up with our large group size) – everyone was so accommodating to work with. We cannot say more positive things about the staff, venue, and our experience!

I don't even know where to begin with how highly I recommend the Abbey Resort and working with Stephanie Adamski for your next wedding celebration. Our wedding was the most spectacular event I have ever been to in my entire life. While it sounds like I might be bias because it was my own wedding, the positive reviews I have heard from friends and family who attended have been nothing short of incredible. Between the food, the drinks, the ambiance, the service and the accommodations, our guests were nonstop raving about how amazing and special our event was. Stephanie is a true gem. She is professional, has impeccable attention to detail and is just an absolute pleasure to work with. She brought our vision to life and I knew from the moment we met her at our tour that she was going to be amazing. I could go on and on about how incredible she was, but I will wrap it up and just say I could not possibly recommend Stephanie/the Abbey enough! WE LOVE YOU STEPHANIE!

Stephanie played an integral part in making sure our wedding at the Abbey was unforgettable. Leading up to our wedding she communicated with us regularly so we could finalize details, understand payment deadlines, and make sure the weekend was great for our guests. She was also so helpful and patient with all of our questions and changes as we collected RSVPs. During the weekend of our wedding, Stephanie made herself available for anything/everything we needed. I felt very calm knowing she was in control. I could not recommend Stephanie or the Abbey Resort more. The rooms are all newly renovated, the spa is so relaxing and fun with the salt room and various pool/sauna/steam rooms, and there is a lot for guests to do before the wedding (pools, spa, gym, restaurants, within walking distance of a coffee shop). We love you, Stephanie!!

Absolutely STUNNING venue. Jonathan our event manager/ catering manager was seriously the best! His communication, personality and great skill for detail was remarkable. He was with us for the entire process and by our side for the entire wedding day. He even patiently switched me back and forth from my heals to flip flops and back to heals at the very last minute as I changed my mind for the grand entrance.

We had a beautiful wedding week at The Abbey! Stephanie A was an AMAZING coordinator-- she is patient yet assertive where necessary and handles last minute changes with ease! Highly recommend working with her to help make your vision come true! This part of the review is NOT reflective of Stephanie but warrants mentioning. The worst part of our wedding planning with The Abbey was setting up the room block. Amelia was our contact person and she was less than helpful and often times not responsive. She provided partial and conflicting information , and customer satisfaction was by no means at her forefront. Definitely an unnecessary headache and she did not align with the rest of our experience.

As a luxury wedding planner, I just had to say my clients had a wonderful wedding at The Abbey. What truly made the day go off without a hitch was being able to work with the wonderful Stephanie Adamski at the Abbey Resort is a true gem. Her attention to detail and follow through is like no other. On the day of the wedding, she was always available and the day would have not run so smoothly unless she was on that team!

Stephanie at the Abbey put together our rehearsal dinner without a hitch. The food was incredible and accommodating, the venue was perfect, and the decor exquisitely matched the theme of the evening. The staff at the Abbey were genuine, helpful, thoughtful, and anticipated our every need. The whole evening was outstanding and served as the best way to kick off a weekend of celebration. Jonathan at the Abbey Resort was the most incredible person ever! He helped us tremendously and was just amazing! So thoughtful and considerate when my husband and I got covid a week before our wedding and had to reschedule last minute! The harbor ballroom and gazebo are just beautiful and immaculate! Everyone there, from Jonathan, to the employees at the Avani Spa, to the wait staff, is very helpful, nice, flexible, and considerate! This review probably sounds fake, because it's unreal how perfect everything went with their help! We are so happy and thankful for everything Jonathan and the Abbey Resort has done for us truly!

Wow wow wow we just had our wedding at The Abbey and Jonathan P. was a pleasure to work with. Everything went so smooth. As the bride, Jonathan and the team made sure I never had a worry. The tent was absolutely a dream with the windows and twinkle lights. The food was so good and the staff was friendly. I honestly have only good things to say. They made sure every detail was taken care of. 100% recommend this as a venue!

Having our wedding at the Abbey was the best decision we could have made! We worked with Stephanie A. throughout the planning process, and she made it extremely easy and manageable. The wedding tasting was very organized, and Stephanie was always available to answer countless emails and phone calls leading up to the wedding day. How do I start…The Abbey Resort was AMAZING! It was everything we hoped for and more from the food, music , flowers and dessert!! Atmosphere in the Aframe was awesome!! This all couldn’t have happened without our amazing wedding coordinator Stephanie!! She truly is a gem and completely made our wedding and reception a dream come true!! 5 stars and beyond!!

We had a great wedding at The Abbey. Guests raved about the food during and after the wedding (cocktail hour and reception food). Our coordinator Stephanie was great and went above and beyond to help make our wedding vision possible as well as to keep the wedding within budget. She gave special attention to including my specific needs with my son into our wedding weekend which I truly appreciate. I had to give 3 stars because we had multiple issues with the hotel room coordinator Rianne. She was unbelievably hard to work with. She would not email back or call back. We had to have our coordinator and her manager get involved to help us. The entire experience was awful and stressful. My only other complaint is that I felt like everything was done last minute which added a lot of extra stress. The reception room layout was figured out the weekend before the wedding so I could not do my table numbers until the week of the wedding. I felt like nothing was planned until 2 weeks before the wedding and I really was not sure how things would end up. It did end up wonderful. The venue is superb. My guests loved the outdoor fire pit and lighted gazebo near the tent. I would not have chosen a different venue but I wish the experience was less stressful and I hope the Abbey looks into a different hotel coordinator.

We had our wedding in the Westshore Pavilion and it couldn't have been more perfect! Stephanie and the team at the Abbey were wonderful at making sure our day was well coordinated and that the venue looked perfect. The venue is a perfect mix of outdoor garden with all the amenities like concrete floor and heat/air in case of in-climate weather. They were wonderful with incorporating our ideas and finding ways to make them work. The Spa handled all the bridesmaid's hair and makeup for the wedding. Lisa was great at coordinating the day for the 10 girls and the girls loved the ability to be with each other while they were getting ready. All the bridesmaids raved about their experience with their hair and makeup! Thanks Abbey and Avani!

The Abbey was wonderful! Steph, the coordinator at the Abbey not only was phenomenal, but became a friend. She nailed our vision, made sure everything ran smoothly, made decisions and recommendations as needed based on our best interest. Everyone keeps talking about how amazing our food was too!

We were originally suppose to get married in May of 2020... so after moving the wedding TWICE, finally in 2022 the abbey put on a whole weekend for us! I almost exclusively used their list of recommended vendors for music, cake, photos and video. The bridesmaids and I all got a spa service before the rehearsal so and the treatments were amazing and the facilities were brand new. I got the pregnancy safe massage and was treated very carefully. The rehearsal dinner was great and super customizable, we had a welcome party for out of town guest that involved a bonfire with smores provided. The morning of I was able to get a quick breakfast with the Bridesmaids before we gathered in our getting ready room right by the salon/spa (the boys had their own right above where we needed to gather) so we could go right to our hair and make up appointments. they had at least 3 other weddings that weekend so there weren't enough appointments for all of my wedding party to get hair and make up done, but I blame myself for calling kind of late to book them. We had our wedding at the gazebo by the water and it was beautiful, lots of great photo opportunities. Our cocktail hour was on the patio and it almost rained us off bit we got lucky. The hor d'oeuvres were outstanding and everyone seemed to like the alcohol (none for me). The dinner was likewise delicious and they even allowed us to add an extra course to their usual 3 course dinner option. We had a sugar rush station and tea and coffee, as well as late-night pulled pork we forgot about :(. We blew a fuse twice during our first dance and the next morning they completely mixed up our farewell brunch with another wedding so we had to wait for tables in the main restaurant and couldn't all sit together, but that was the only gaf really. the staff was very attentive and despite all the delays we felt well taken care of. we even got two free wedding tastings since it had been so long since we tried our choices. all and all a great place to get married, just don't pick a busy weekend like Memorial Day like we did and all should be great. the rooms were also nice and the kids at my wedding enjoyed the pool area.

Our daughter was married at The Abbey last month and it was wonderful! The scenery is breathtaking and the staff helped to make the day stress free! Stephanie Adamski was terrific and really went out of her way to ensure that the day went smoothly. I would recommend this venue to anyone that wants to celebrate a wedding like no other can provide. The Abbey is anything but ordinary, which is why we chose this venue. The food was delicious and the Porto or A-Frame was truly nastogilc and magical. :)

The Abbey was the ideal venue and everything we could have wanted for our special day. Kelly was incredibly friendly, super patient and overall very fun to be around. We got married last week at The Abbey after 2 years of planning and it was AMAZING. The entire process planning with staff went so smoothly. We worked closely with Kelly and she was phenomenal. Very prompt with emails and answered my MANY questions over the years with ease. She was kind and considerate through it all. The resort Itself was so pretty. The grounds were kept amazing and all of the staff was helpful surrounding the weekend. We loved every minute of our weekend and the Abbey made it truly spectacular.

We switched our venue to The Abbey at the last minute due ti Illinois capacity restrictions and so happy we did. The rooms and grounds are beautiful! Tawny did a great job coordinating for us and answering all my questions. I enjoyed her calm energy throughout the planning process and day of. I would be happy to work with her again on another event! If she didn't know something, she checked quickly and replied via phone or email. It poured on our wedding day so we couldn't utilize the outdoor space but even the indoor space and Harbor Ballroom were amazing and spacious. Stephanie, the other event contact, was great too! The head wait staff was amazing. Made sure the bride and groom were well taken care of! Very, very happy with our choice at The Abbey!

The Abbey is PERFECT! I had always dreamed of getting married on the water and the harbor gazebo was more than I could have every imagined. The venue is so easy to work with because they do so many wedding. Our coordinator from the Abbey, Kelly, responded right away to every question and made sure our day was everything we wanted. We couldn't have been happier with the Abbey!

We had such a wonderful experience in working with The Abbey Resort, specifically Kelly Pohle. Kelly is one of the main reasons we decided to go with Abbey versus other venues in the Lake Geneva area. She is extremely responsive, helpful, and knows what she is doing!

The Abbey Resort was the perfect venue for our dream wedding. We worked with The Abbey's wedding coordinator Kelly, and she was very quick to respond and a pleasure to work with. All of our guests loved the venue as much as we did:)

We ultimately chose a different venue for our wedding but enjoyed working with Kelly Pohle and The Abbey so much we felt compelled to write a review. Kelly responded to all of our questions in a timely fashion, the wedding pricing guide and preferred vendor lists were professionally put together and easy to use, and we enjoyed both our zoom tour and our in person tour. If you're considering a Lake Geneva wedding or a resort wedding, The Abbey should be on your venue list.

We got married in October 2020 at The Abbey and couldn’t have asked for anything better!! Kelly was amazing to work with and so helpful with updating us on changes that came along with COVID. The venue was absolutely beautiful and the food was delicious. We had the perfect day!!

I (bride) have been visiting the Abbey since I was a baby, and getting married here was extremely special! They were so accommodating, especially during the craziness with COVID! The backdrop of the lake, boats, and beach were absolutely stunning for photos. The Westshore Pavilion (tent) was also incredible for our reception. Cannot recommend the Abbey enough!!

My husband and I got married on October 24, 2020 at The Abbey Resort in Fontana, WI. There were multiple things that I thought my “dream wedding” consisted of that weren’t actually possible with the timing of the wedding, covid, etc. However, Kelly, the wedding coordinator helped me planned my dream wedding without me even realizing it! First and foremost she is extremely quick about responding to calls/emails. I cannot even count the number of times I changed a detail of our ceremony of reception either due to covid or just because I changed my mind and Kelly was supportive, accommodating, and responsive every step of the way! The day we first met with her, she made my husband and I and our parents feel like her own family. She truly wanted us to have the time of our lives on our wedding day. She was so kind and encouraging when I was discouraged about planning such a large event during the pandemic. When it came down to the wedding weekend, she was there and enthusiastic during our rehearsal, making sure every detail was thought of. On the day of the wedding she was present and on top of everything; fielding questions from me, my mother in law, my bridal party and all of our vendors. She truly is the best gift The Abbey could have given us! As far as The Abbey itself, I would not recommend having a reception in the West Shore Pavilion at the end of October. Even though we thought it was climate controlled, the heaters were not enough to keep up with the cool fall evening and many guests were cold. Also, one whole table did not receive their meal when everyone else did, but it was quickly resolved without me even knowing it at the time. As far as the room block reservations go, you really have to be on top of it instead of assuming it’s all taken care of because the room coordinator does not respond to calls or emails. Overall, my husband and I had the BEST night of our lives. Our wedding was so special thanks to the beautiful scenery that The Abbey provides and all of the hard work that Kelly put into planning our special day.

I worked with Emily (Held) Wasser for my wedding at the Abbey in July of 2020. Emily was nothing but the very best throughout the entire wedding planning process. I am totally not a "I can't wait to plan my wedding person" but Emily made it all so simple and stress free... even with changing our original date during the COVID pandemic and Emily having a baby during planning! Emily is extremely responsive, patient, and just an easy human to get a long with. I decided to change my original plans last minute due to the pandemic and Emily supported my decision to add seating outdoors for guests and to move our dance floor outside. She is extremely flexible and patient. I would get married at the Abbey again in a heartbeat. Truly the best day of my life because it was so perfectly designed and executed due to the efforts of the staff. Also, it is so simple and convenient for guests. Everyone loves the Abbey so its so great to have everything all at one location (although I did get married at a church nearby). I cannot say enough good words about the Resort or working with Emily and the other wedding planning crew. Great people and a great time overall. 10/10 would recommend!

There are not enough characters to write all the good things I have to say about hosting our wedding at The Abbey. From start to finish, Kelly on the wedding team did a fabulous job! She was always prepared and organized when it came to our conversations & execution on the day of was flawless. Rianne in the wedding block department was extremely helpful as well when it came to all the uncertainty around a 2020 wedding & the amount of guests that could attend. My guests loved the venue & being able to be outside for cocktail hour then inside for dinner & dancing! For dinner we did chicken, filet, & seabass - dozens of my guests came up to give me compliments on the food. On top of the food, The Abbey grounds on the harbor are unmatched to any other venue in the area. Your guests never have to leave, as there is everything to offer right there on the grounds & walkable to some other cute spots in Fontana. I wish I could do the day again & again with Kelly & team because it was absolutely a dream come true!

We are so pleased with how our wedding turned out at The Abbey Resort. Planning a wedding during a pandemic was not easy nor ideal, but working with Kelly during the process helped ease our minds. Kelly kept in constant contact with Shane and I on everything. When we emailed many of the questions we had Kelly emailed us back in a timely manner. The rehearsal and rehearsal dinner went perfect. The day of the wedding was absolutely beautiful and everything we imagined. My guest raved about the food all weekend. The Abbey took all the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our guest during this pandemic. Overall our wedding weekend was a dream come true!!

We had an amazing experience with Emily, our wedding coordinator at the Abbey. She was thorough and worked with us through every minor detail you could imagine. All my guests appreciated the Covid friendly staff, while the food was amazing as was the venue and view of the harbor. It was a holiday weekend my family and I will never forget.

We had the adventure of planning a wedding during COVID-19. The Abbey wasn't our first (or our second) venue but when we were without a venue for the third time and contacted The Abbey EVERYTHING started falling into place. Emily and her whole team gave everything they had to make sure our wedding was perfect. And it really was. Emily's responsiveness was unparalleled and when we ran into some tricky parts with live streaming the ceremony she worked with all parties to get it just right. The food was amazing. The gazebo... oh my gosh the gazebo was just a stunning place to say "I Do". It seriously felt that Emily was as excited for us to get married as we were. We could not have asked for a better venue for such a special day. Both the Porto room for our reception and the Harbor Ballroom for our Wedding rehersal dinner are just amazing. Everything about it was seemless. We cannot thank Emily and The Abbey enough for all they did for us. We CANNOT wait to come back here year after year for our anniversary and sit down by the water for a drink and listen to live music. Despite a pandemic, it was seriously the best day ever.

My husband and I hosted our ceremony and reception at The Abbey on 10/19/19. We had an absolutely amazing experience working with the wedding staff at the resort. Emily Held was our wedding sales manager and I can NOT say enough good things about working with her. She was always quick to respond, full of ideas and very organized. I highly recommend working with The Abbey if you are looking for an all inclusive venue for your wedding. My only complaint is that we had a hard time working with the room booking team at the hotel. They were slow to respond. If you stay on top of them they will get everything done you will just want to make sure to follow up often.

We held our wedding reception at the Abbey Resort and it was wonderful! The resort is well maintained and has great staff who are responsive and organized. The food and drinks were also delicious.

Our wedding coordinator, Emily, went above and beyond to make our wedding day amazing. She was quick to respond to our emails and happy to arrange a phone call with us any time we had questions or concerns. The day before and of our wedding Emily was supportive, helpful and a calm presence for us and our bridal party which we greatly appreciated. Overall, we had a great experience at The Abbey. The only negatives were they did not put out enough chairs for our guests at our wedding ceremony which meant several people were left standing. Additionally, there were some minor issues with our booking agent that lead to confusion/frustration for guests that were reserving rooms under our block. Aside from that, we had a beautiful ceremony at the harbor gazebo and our reception in the west shore pavilion tent was wonderful.

We had our wedding and small reception at The Abbey. The hotel is beautiful. We originally booked the Porto room before they renovated it. We were super sad when they renovated it from the Mediterranean feel to a modern feel. However, the room turned out gorgeous. We had so many compliments. Our wedding took place in the Ballroom and it was the perfect place for a small intimate wedding. The views of the harbor were beautiful. We worked with Kelly and she was so great to work with and very helpful when I was really overwhelmed. The food was delicious. We had several guests tell us it was the best wedding food they have ever had. We were very pleased with our wedding and reception. Thank you, Kelly, for being the best. I wouldn’t have been able to make it through all the changes without you!

Our wedding was beautiful! We had our ceremony outside on the gazebo and although it was really hot, it was gorgeous. Kelly P. helped me plan everything out, she was so helpful and responsive every step of the way. She made sure to answer all my questions, even if I had previously asked them. She was honestly just an amazing asset to The Abbey wedding staff. Nancy, one of the managers was also very patient and helpful during the contract signing. I also have to mention that the tasting was amazing and helped us narrow down our dinner menu. Our reception was held in the Sandbar and it was the perfect location right by the fire pit outside and the view during dinner, with the open curtains, was breathtaking. I do have to say there was a slight weird stench and although the staff tried to help, it still lingered during dinner, so check for that if you decide to have it in that room. Also, because it was the first warm day of the year, it was hard for the AC to catch-up, and although we asked for that to be fixed, it seems that it just was not possible to get the room at a really comfortable cool temperature. With that said, I would recommend The Abbey. Before picking The Abbey, I had previously tried to work with other options and I have to say, the process was simple and efficient, they know what they are doing.

The Abbey Resort & Avani Spa is an absolutely beautiful venue for a wedding. My husband and I had our ceremony at the Gazebo in the harbor and our ceremony in the Harbor Ballroom. We had approximately 300 guest at our wedding and both the Gazebo and the Harbor Ballroom were sufficiently large with room to spare. As for our wedding planner, Emily Herd was 100% amazing. She was professional, responsive, organized and attentive. It never took her more than 24 hours to respond to an email or voicemail, and 9 times out of 10 she would answer the telephone when we called. Additionally, Emily worked really well with all of our vendors. All we had to do was provide Emily with the contact information of all of our vendors and she did the rest. She really did a great job making a very stressful situation not stressful at all. All in all, my husband and I would give Emily a 10 out of 10, and would recommend her in a heartbeat!

We cannot say enough good things about The Abbey! Emily and the on-site wedding coordinators were amazing. They were easy to get a hold of and were able to address all of the unavoidable last minute issues. The Abbey itself has been nicely renovated over the last year, and we absolutely loved our reception in the West Shore Pavilion. We loved the resort feel, and all of the options both onsite and locally for our guests to enjoy over the wedding weekend. Highly recommend!

Our wedding planner, kelly pohle, was absolutely amazing to work with. While being very professional, organized, and detail-oriented, she was also fun, friendly, and personable. While planning a wedding, you want someone who will be prompt in getting back to you with your requests and questions, and Kelly was always on it! Our wedding was a weekend long affair, and Kelly made sure every detail was exactly as we want it. I am so thankful that we can look back on our day and say it was absolutely perfect and we wouldn't change a thing!

Stay away! The wedding department is a JOKE! If you plan your wedding 9 months out you will work with at least 4-5 people who won't work there by the time you get married. Staff turn over is high. The general manager has a terrible attitude, and couldn't or didn't offer any help other than to comp 2 nights stay in a hotel room. The food was wrong, the BEO's are always wrong, because attention to detail is NOT The Abbey's strong point. If they try to make you work with Kelly Pohle, RUN!!! She has no clue what she is doing. Sadly, The Abbey is running an "amateur hour" with their staff. Nancy Trilla is about the only person there you can work with and get a straight answer. Her only short coming is she's super busy, doing everyone else's job, and fixing their mistakes. I don't blame Nancy, one person can only do so much, and when the rest of your team is incompetent to the 9th degree, you can only do what you can do. I'd advise before signing any agreements with The Abbey, make certain you have everything in writing. If they promise you something, make them write it, and sign it. For example, our brunch was suppose to run from 8am to noon. The agreement was they would serve until 10am and then leave the food out til noon for everyone. Come 10am they needed to take it down due to health code. Half our guests never got to eat. One of our guests hotel rooms flooded from a leaking toilet, and their only remedy was a $50 credit. Ask for a manager? HA! None are ever working or return your calls. Even my emails to General Manager Michael Lucero went unanswered. Buyer beware, if you decide to book here, you're in for a wild ride! Guys save yourselves and your future wife the trouble, DO NOT GET MARRIED AT THE ABBEY RESORT!

Nancy and Team, Exceptional! I like many brides had a vision on what our day was supposed to look like. I planned our wedding for over a year, working with the staff at The Abbey. One thing I will say it takes team work to be able to pull a wedding together, and that is exactly what we had. Nancy Trilla and her team were there every step of the way to make sure details from meals, how tables were organized, and the Decorations looked just perfect. Our wedding was December 1st, and felt everything you could imagine from Winter Wonderland. I would also like to point out the behind the scenes work that took place from helping organize the bridal party, making sure all guests were seated for ceremony, to making sure my husband and I had the best night of our lives. I have received constant compliments on Nancy and her team, and what a phenomenal job they did to make our guest feel one of a kind. Thank you for all that you did for us, we absolutely loved every minute of our wedding and will come back at least once a year to enjoy the amazing steak we had at dinner. I would recommend The Abbey if you are looking to book your wedding. They did not miss one detail on our wedding day, and we could not be happier. Thank you - Katie T

We had our wedding reception at The Abbey in July 2018. The actual wedding was beautiful, the food was great, beautiful location and we had a great time. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about the planning process leading up to the wedding and the room reservation process my guests experienced. We were not put at ease during the planning process and experienced many customer service issues leading up to the wedding and even upon arriving. We had three different Wedding Sales Managers that we worked with throughout the planning process and two different Room Reservation Managers. Had we known there was going to be that much turnover in the staff we were working with I don’t know that we would have held our wedding there. One of the Wedding Sales Managers we had did not tell us our cocktail hour was not going to be able to be held outside when we changed the time slightly. Luckily we learned of this before the day of when we switched to a new Sales Manager. Our guests had a lot of difficulty reserving rooms as it was difficult to get ahold of anyone on the reservation line and then no one would ever return their calls. For the amount of money we were spending we were very disappointed in the service we received and that our guests experienced. We held our ceremony at another local outdoor venue that had more privacy and I’m wishing we would have just done the whole reception there as the sales team there made the process stress-free, unlike at The Abbey. Hire a Day Of Coordinator, something we did not do and wish I would have, as the groom and maid of honor had to set up the decorations at the reception hall the morning of the wedding because our Wedding Sales Manager was too busy that morning giving tours. The other disappointing thing is that I completed a survey two months ago where I expressed our dissatisfaction and still no one has reached out to me...
