I had the absolutely most amazing time here! Tiffany was incredible! So knowledgable and encouraging with every dress I tried on. I never felt like I was being forced to buy a dress or I had to find the right one. It truly was a beautiful experience and I FOUND MY DRESS and got to take it home same day!! I got a beautiful dress for under $2000, and later found out the dress at anther shop would have cost over $4500! I cannot recommend this place enough. We had the entire store to ourselves with a weekday appointment and felt so relaxed when trying on dresses. If you haven't booked your appointment, do it now!!
Sold a dress to me that was way too big but promised their alterations reference, Gaby Couture, could size it down. My dress not only looked awful the day of my wedding as the alterations place did not size it down enough, they also got my dress covered in hair and dust from their shop. Do not go to altar or Gaby Couture. If you do go to Altar don’t let them lie to you and sell a dress way outside your size.
This is your sign to book an appointment at The Altar- I can't rave about Victoria and this store enough!!
I loved having the ability to peruse on my own and pick dresses that called to me to try on, but I was also so impressed with Victorias selections. She knows the inventory so well, has worked at the shop for years, is chill, upbeat, encouraging, kind, gorgeous and made the entire experience!
I was lucky to be able to try on sizes in the 10-14 range for which they had a ton of options. The store is organized very well, it was clean and beautiful and I loved the show room. I found many dresses I loved and was so happy to have Victoria walk me through my second day ever trying on dresses. It was just Victoria, my best friend and I, and the atmosphere was private, supportive and fun.
Thank you so much Victoria!
Victoria was incredible! She explained the store’s layout so we knew how to shop and listened closely to the style of dress that I wanted. Then, when I was trying on a different dress, she snuck the PERFECT dress for me into the fitting room. I noticed it on the rack before I even tried it on. It fit perfectly, matched all my dream criteria, and was UNDER my budget! BONUS: It must’ve been a sample from another store, because it was new with the tags still on.
My favorite part besides the prices was that you took the gown the same day. My only dilemma is where to hide it until it’s time for fittings.
Staff was not super helpful, which didn't seem right considering you have to pay a fee to get an appointment. I expected more attention since I was paying for a "personalized appointment with a stylist that is there just for you!". That does not describe my experience. They had affordable gowns, but I had better (and free) appointments at other stores.
Lacey was an absolute dream to work with! She listened to what I was looking for, kept me in budget, and actually was the one who picked out my dress!!! I had passed it over while it was on the rack, but she knew I needed to try it on.
My bridesmaids also loved working with her, and told me later about how much Lacey was listening and reading me/asking them more once I went back in to change to make sure she was guiding me in the right direction. She was! Lacey was so fun and truly cares about her job and her brides. I’ve been recommending Altar Bridal ever since I stopped in!
My experience with The Altar Bridal Consignment was overall very positive. The woman who helped me the day I bought my dress was so personable, friendly, kind and provided me with many different options to try on that fit in with what I wanted. They have stunning dresses at a discount that helped this cost conscious gal. I would highly recommend. Only issue that isn't directly their fault, which is why it does not impact my review, but I needed alterations done on my dress and they highly recommended the shop right next door. I am not sure as to why they recommended her as she was not good at all. It would benefit their business if they found a different alterations business to recommend their customers to.
We love this store! My daughter got married in June, I got married in July. We went in there just to check things out. We liked the friendliness of the staff and how they managed the store. I saw a dress I liked but was not ready to purchase one. We came back a month later. The staff were very patient and helpful while my daughter tried on many dresses and finally found THE ONE! The dress I liked was still there. I tried it on.... a perfect fit! They helped us to pick out the perfect veils to go with the dresses. It was Black Friday so we got a great deal!
This was the first place I went to try on wedding dresses, and it was amazing! I had an appointment somewhere else and cancelled it after trying on a few dresses. The selection was so good, and the prices were great. I put a couple of dresses on hold for 24 hours, and came back the next morning with 2 of my bridesmaids. I'm so glad that I did because I didn't think I wanted a veil, but there was one that matched the dress I chose perfectly! I'm so glad I came here first. I have my dream dress, it fits almost perfectly, and the most beautiful veil. Thank you for all your help! Excellent customer service! 💕
My mom recommended this place, I found my dress here, and I found out later that one of my best friends also got her dress here! I definitely recommend trying this shop first when you're looking for a dress. Everyone is trying to stay in a budget, and if you can get the dress you want at a consignment store you can spend more money on other wedding stuff! I ended up trying on SO many dresses while I was here, and the staff was super helpful and patient with me. I picked my dress, and then they helped me pick a veil that matched perfectly.
Tiffany helped me get an amazing gown at a great price. I happened to get a new dress but most are pre-owned, I believe since it’s a consignment shop. But all the choices were great! She was very helpful and had great advice and opinions. She was down to earth and genuine. Gabriela did a great job with my alterations as well. This is a great place for low maintenance brides on a budget!
The service was impeccable their pricing was very reasonable and they really work with you and your budget. They were not pushy and were really interested in you as the buyer. They do alterations as well yet leave it open for you to choose whoever you would prefer to alter your dress. Definitely recommend this place!!
Terrible to work with. Not flexible or willing to work with you. Not worth your time or money.
Best place if you're a bride with a budget and want a gorgeous gown. The staff make you feel like you're in a high-class bridal shop and are super knowledgeable for what looks best and what they have in the store that might work for you. Weekends are busy in the afternoon, you'll have more time to browse if you go during the week or on a weekend morning. I also highly recommend getting your alterations done there, Gabriela was amazing to work with and made my dress actually what I wanted.
This was one of the most pleasant dress shopping experiences I had! Maureen was so sweet and helpful. She asked what kind of dress I was looking for, helped my find ones that fit my style, and helped me to stay within my price range. I found a sample sale dress for only $425. I love it and am so excited to wear it on my wedding day. I loved the huge dressing rooms. She also helped me to pose for photos. All my other dress shopping photos are pretty awful. I highly recommend stopping by whether you are looking for a consignment dress or a new sample dress.
I contemplated on getting a dress from here but changed my mind rather quickly. Upon entering the store, there is a distinctive "old and stuffy" smell. That should be a red flag for something not clean.
I had been to several bridal stores and mostly, I would say were friendly and cheerful but I encountered a level of aloofness and some arrogance when the lady, who I am assuming is the manager, answered my questions. She did not sound too nice to one of her staff either.
I can honestly say that I am on a budget to find a dress but after looking at the dresses (some of which had frayed laces, uneven color, holes on fabric), I asked myself, "why buy a dress from here which are priced ridiculously high when I can buy a brand-new, unused one at a reasonable price. I looked closely at a tulle veil with a hole which she was selling for $120. Sadly, I could not picture myself wearing a dress from here for my wedding.
Great option if you actually want to try dresses on in your size. I know dresses can be altered to fit you, but to me the way it felt on my body was what was going to make me fall in love with it.
Alterations were a little challenging here and after 6 appointments I ended up taking it somewhere else to get finished.
Great value! Lots of dresses to choose from with many different styles. Laid back atmosphere and knowledgeable staff. Did not have the best experience with the seamstress they provided who altered my dress. She was 30 minutes late to my first fitting. At my second fitting she was still working on the changes when I walked in. But apart from the alterations, the store was a very pleasant and harmonious experience.
My mother and I stopped by the Altar when we were simply driving by two weeks after I got engaged to check things out. I was unsure about whether a consignment dress was for me as I had a reasonable budget for a new dress, but I figured there was nothing wrong with spending less than my max budget. We didn't have an appointment but even though it was a weekend the store was not crowded. I went in mid April and there were a few brides in and out of the shop while I was there but someone who worked there did help us, despite our lack of appointment. I knew in advance that I wanted a dropped waist dress. We started looking for that style in my typical size range. The lady helping us suggested I look at larger sizes since I could always get it altered down. She pulled her favorite dress of my preferred style. I tried it on and fell in love. I tried on a few other solid options but the original dress was a Priscilla of Boston dress that I looked up online and saw that it really was a dress of excellent quality. I went to Erol's tailoring for my alterations and they confirmed the dress was originally worth around $3000. I got my dress for $700 (before I got it altered at Erol's). The store has large changing rooms, pedestals to stand on so that the dresses can hang properly, and plenty of mirrors. The dresses are arranged primarily by size. The prices seemed to be appropriate. They clean all the dresses in advance but you can always get your dress dry cleaned again. I was very happy I went to the Altar and so happy I found my dress right away. I only wish i could post a picture here because it was gorgeous!
A friend referred me to The Alter and I went in feeling very skeptical. I am not a small gal (Size 16) and had already struggled with finding anything that fit that I could even stand to be seen in. Not to mention budget...
I ended up going in by myself and was immediately shocked at how many dresses they had to choose from in my size and how fantastic dress #2 looked! It was a no-brainer choice!
The only thing I would have changed was related to alterations. I wish I had better understood what could and could not be done with the sleeves and bodice as I ended up with painful straps that didn't quite fit right...but only noticeable by me!
The staff was helpful but not high-pressure and had creative ideas about dress alterations (they gave me the idea to add a beaded sash to my dress, which turned into something that looked art-deco -- brilliant). Their prices were really reasonable.
I had less luck with their in-house tailor. I paid $200 for alterations and still had to take it elsewhere since she couldn't get the bust to fit properly, and didn't seem to have the skills to fix the problem.
Lovely shop! Decent selection and a fantastic staff! They were so helpful and so very much nicer than the extremely rude woman at the green bride. The alter was like a breath of fresh air. Loved shopping there and so happy I found my perfect dress!
I had never tried on a wedding dress, nor had I really looking around for what I liked. Basically, when I walked into The Alter Bridal Consignment Store, I didn't have any idea what I was getting myself into. The saleswoman was excellent at helping me find my size, my wedding dress style, and letting me try on a full range of things until I found what was just perfect for me. Moreover, because these dresses are all pre-owned, I walked away with a fabulous wedding gown for well under $700. I would recommend this shop for anyone who is pretty open to a variety of dresses and would like a great dress at a great price.
I ended getting my dress online but I tried a few on here. They had a great selection, reasonable prices and low pressure. While the customer service could have been slightly better (bring your mom or a girlfriend to help zip you up and this isn't a problem) I really appreciated that you don't need an appointment here and that I didn't feel like I *had* to buy a dress just for coming in.
Also, I used there seamstress, Gabriella Designs, to add a bustle to my dress and she was fabulous! If you find a dress at this shop that needs some alterations you should definitely chat with Gabriella.
I walked into The Altar just as a drive by- but I could not even believe I found my wedding dress there! And for $199! It was so beautiful and Denise who did my alterations was awesome. It was such a pleasant experience!
I don't mean to sound shallow, but I never thought I would shop at a consignment shop, especially for something like my wedding dress. I looked many different places before I finally decided to make the drive down to Altar Bridal. I tried on probably 10 dresses trying to stay within my budget of under $500. As I was looking through the racks, they had one listed at $1200 and I wanted to try it on just for fun. Of course it fit perfect, no alterations needed. The lady at the front desk said she was willing to ask the seller if she would come down on the price for a quick sell. About a week later I received a phone call stating the seller would come down to $600 on the dress. I came in the next day and bought my dream dress.
The store was very clean, the girls working were helpful and even helped me get into my dress (since I didn't have anyone with me to help.) The selection was great! They had a dress for every shape, in many different styles, and they were all in great condition. They even had some beautiful dresses on the "sale rack" for around $100. I was very impressed and would highly recommend this place to any lady looking to save a few dollars on a dress they will only wear for a few hours!
I bought my dress at the Altar for $200. Denise at the Altar did all of my alterations for $250. My dress looked like it cost me a lot more than that and Denise altered it perfectly. She also attached my headpiece to my veil and it worked out awesome.
I went in here just to have fun and try on differnt styles and not be bothered to death. I fell in love with the most beautiful designer, couture dress. I got it for 1/4 of the retail cost. I was so happy. Now, where can I wear it again?
I loved this shop! No need to have an appointment which with my crazy schedule was nice. Clean, friendly, nice selection...loved, loved, loved my dress and the price was right, too!
I purchased my gown back in May 2011 for my wedding in May 2012. They had a decent selection, especially for my size (18). I heard about them from a bridal show I attended in April 2011, where my MOH won a bridal package that included $250 off a dress. The dress I got was actually new, but marked down from most boutiques, and was an Alfred Angelo, whose dresses I had fallen in love with in the magazines. The girl there was very helpful and had pulled this dress aside when I called in asking about an Alfred Angelo dress. I tried on probably 5-6 dresses before trying that one and I was set. The dress blew away the 7 dresses I had tried on at David's Bridal! I also purchased a tiara from here that I used, which turned out beautiful with my hair. Very happy, and would recommend to anyone who wants to save.
I would highly recommend coming to this store AFTER you have decided on a style and fit of a dress. I went to this shop my last day of dress shopping (thought I was going to be buying a dress at another boutique) expecting to not find anything, tried on 2 dresses and found the perfect match. They aren't that helpful with styles, so do your research prior to going here... but great find!
I happened on the perfect dress at the Alter. While I liked the no pressure atmosphere and their new store is very nice I have a few complaints. The original price listed on the tag of the dress was higher than the actual original price. The sales lady told me the sash was included and then charged me separately for it. The bag they gave me had a hole in the bottom and when I asked for a new bag they made me pay for it... even after I'd just spent over $1000. I should have looked around more because I found the same dress for much less and included the original Swavorski beaded sash (but that was my bad).
I also used their lady for alterations. She did a fantastic job, however the price was more than I was originally told and I was charged extra to have it steamed... just be aware of what you might be paying.
This is a wonderful dress shop. They have both slight used and new dresses in all sizes available at great prices. I found several dresses to try on and the 2nd dress I tried on was the dress for me. The dress you try on, is the dress you buy. You take it home with you that day. Measurements aren't taken and another isn't made for you. I had plenty of friends who didnt get the dress they tried on and had MANY issues. Diane, the alterations woman is WONDERFUL! She knows what she is doing. It was a great experience.
I found the perfect gown, great service, and excellent value at this great bridal consignment boutique! I also used their seamstress. Because I bought my gown almost a year early, and then lost some more weight, by alterations were pricy, but perfection! The "cost" range includes both gown and alterations.
I was stressing about finding a dress and didn't want to overpay. Was also hesitant to buy something I would only be wearing once. The answer was The Altar - a consignment dress shop. The experience was fun. My sister scanned the racks and pulled out the dress! Found a designer dress, that was "pre-loved", for a fraction of the price. I liked that I had found a "green" option and that my dress had already been a part of someone's happy beginning. The only down side was that I wasn't able to reserve the dress and bring my mom back to see it - I had to get it then or risk losing it. In the end, it was a great choice. :) And their in house seamstress was amazing!
I loved my experience at The Altar! The lady who owned the shop effortlessly went between my group and another helping with whatever we needed. The decorations were SO CUTE, and I just felt special in their store, which was surprising to me being that it was a consignment shop! GREAT experience.
They were so helpful. I found the dress I wanted online and found it at the store. I also found a veil there but did not get it the day I bought the dress. I called them and they shipped it to me. They are great at the Altar
