The Ballroom @ CityFlatsHotel

City Flats in Grand Rapids was so wonderful to work with, and made our wedding just what we wanted! Morgan and her team were wonderful to work with, and on very on top of everything. They had great recommendations for how to get family members involved in set up, went out of their way to source the dessert we wanted (root beer floats!), and the day of were very available to help. We felt like we were in great hands the whole process. For the space itself - it is absolutely beautiful and the perfect downtown location. The Ballroom for the ceremony allowed to lots of natural light, while being indoors and protected from the elements. The Events room worked perfectly for cocktail hour, and we were able to use the sound system to run some games. The reception in the Ballroom was gorgeous, and required minimal decorations because the room was so beautiful. Highly recommend!

The venue was beautiful, the food was amazing, and the staff was SO helpful. Morgan made the planning process so simple and Ally, Hannah, and the rest of the staff made the day run smoothly.

The Ballroom ended up working perfectly with our elegant, romantic vision for our wedding. The staff were friendly and reliable, and the day-of went incredibly smoothly! Staff also helped me recuperate the leftover wedding favors the next day. If you're looking for a jaw-dropping venue at a decent price, this is your place.

I'm going to start by saying the photos on here don't do the space justice at all. The room is STUNNING. I was honestly amazed when we did our first tour bc I wasn't sure if I'd like it based on the pictures, but immediately when I walked in it was a yes. My guests were in awe of how gorgeous the space was. They loved how the bar was an old time bank teller's station (the whole ballroom they converted from an old bank). The room is much grander in person. Morgan & Lindsay BOTH made our wedding wonderful. They were easy to communicate with from the start and were so responsive to all of my questions and emails...and there were a lot because I planned our wedding living 2 hours away. They allowed my special requests and were very on the ball and detail oriented. I am SO grateful to how organized they were for our event. The awesome part too is that the room is so beautiful you hardly have to spend anything on décor! The food was also great! My guests raved about the mac & cheese bar we did during cocktail hour, the dinner, the ice cream bar, and the popcorn table! Not to mention I heard several drunken compliments about the cheese that came with our late night snack of soft pretzels which I thought was funny. The flow of the event and everything leading up to the event was a breeze, and I cannot thank them enough for providing such a stress-free enjoyable day for us!

We had our wedding here August 2022 and it literally was so dreamy. I felt like a princess during our wedding and ceremony. We worked with 2 coordinators, Morgan & Kellie, both were extremely professional & helpful and quick to email back. They ask every detail to make sure your day is perfect. The food was excellent and the bar service was too. I even forgot a few items and they were very helpful to find them. It is some what expensive (food/bar total is charged 20% service fee) BUT I would do it all over again it was worth every dollar! My guests raved about how beautiful the venue was, grand entrance stair case and how great the food was! Highly recommend!

The ballroom was absolutely beautiful and the staff were phenomenal throughout the entire process. They were always quick to respond and very helpful and willing to work with all of our special requests. We enjoyed the food selection and everything (including the appetizers, entree and late night snack) was delicious. On the day of the wedding, from start to finish they were top notch. They even helped us pack up at the end of the evening. We are so grateful to everyone at City Flats for helping to make the day so wonderful!

Both coordinators were very quick with responses,very understanding, super flexible & demonstrated excellent customer service. my typeA personality & My attention to detail can be difficult to work with sometimes , but both always tried to always make things work and would always note my requests. The space was beautiful and the food was perfect. I would recommend the ballroom and both coordinators to anyone.

Oh my goodness! Working with the staff at CityFlats was an absolute dream. They pay great attention to detail, and the food was perfect. Everything went off without a hitch, and the space is gorgeous. Highly recommended!

First, we give this wonderful venue and staff a super duper high 4 out of 5 stars. So much of the experience was pleasant and we felt the ‘wow’ factor often. They worked with our tight budget, and email response was VERY excellent. We had a non traditional ceremony that went right into reception (no flip) it worked better than I could have imagined. Lighting was awesome, fantastical colors added to our romantic meets Victorian theme. The only part we felt a little washed out was communication with staff during the event, and a limit on the use of the microphone. We truly enjoyed our wedding day, and the hotel even upgraded the groom and I to the king suit for our stay. I think about so many little moments in those two days, it was glorious, I felt like a queen, and the staff at cityflats Grand Rapids helped to make those feelings never ending. We planned this wedding from 1500 miles away, and I was nervous since almost every decision would be made sight unseen. I would do only one thing differently if I had to do this over again, and that's to relax as soon as the contract was signed because we were in good hands! Katarina is wonderful, a true professional in every way. She was prompt for every phone call, answered every question with a short turn-around time, and didn't change the rules as the process progressed. When I changed the plans she always responded with a cheerful "can-do" attitude. The staff is wonderful, and everyone we encountered from bartenders to wait staff to coat attendants were courteous, cheerful, and helpful. Servers were everywhere meeting the needs of our guests, but were never in anyone's way. Dinner was great, even though we were late in returning from the ceremony. We had several special dietary needs, and the kitchen did a great job accommodating them. The ballroom is beautiful, and the suite on the mezzanine is a fantastic area that we set up as a quiet spot for the mothers who came with infants. Katarina helped us set aside a corner of the ballroom for games, so everyone, no matter their age, had a fun night. CityFlatsHotel is under the management of John, and it is no surprise that the staff is so focused on the happiness of their guests, because John is committed to providing outstanding service. I ran into an unforeseen issue with my reservation, and John immediately went out of his way to resolve it. To say I was delighted is an understatement! The icing on the cake is that our guests had a great time, and complimented us on a job well done. That praise belongs entirely in the hands of Katarina, John, and the CityFlats staff because we were having too much fun that night! They exceeded our expectations, and provided our friends and family a wonderful experience.

The vibe of CityFlats is unbeatable. Since having a winter wedding, I wanted a classic look and something without exposed brick. I will look back at location and character of CityFlats and never regret our selection. The staff is also very helpful with meeting prior to the event to lock down your selections and timeline of the night. The wedding night was very close to perfect! There was a sauce for dinner that was missing on the steak that we had talked in detail about and also they were off on the timeline at the start of the night. My dad gave his toast without champagne poured yet, so they were behind. Of course we made the best of the situation, but make sure you really nail your timeline home with them. There was also some attitudes from servers to my mom during happy hour, which given how much our parents paid, I find extremely inappropriate. Overall I would recommend CityFlats to anyone as it was the perfect setting for us and our family.

We got married in the Ballroom at the CityFlatsHotel on New Year’s Eve and could not have asked for a more perfect and beautiful venue! The event staff made the year and a half of planning, and the wedding day so smooth and stress free. We had our ceremony and reception in the Ballroom, with the cocktail hour downstairs in the Events Room. At first, a two hour cocktail hour (to allow time for flipping the ballroom from the ceremony to the reception) seemed like it would be a little bit too long, but it was perfect! My husband and I were able to attend the cocktail hour and greet our guests, which I highly recommend. From the planning and coordination to the food and service, this venue was a dream to work with and made everything so smooth and stress free!

Pros: Beautiful venue for my daughter's wedding reception and event coordinators at cityflatshotel are great at organizing and holding your hands through the entire process. loved the lighting options that changes several times over the course of the evening. Cons: Quality of food variable with some food being excellent (salmon, chicken, asian buffet), but steak was tough, sushi cold and eggdrop soup for the newlyweds brunch was uneatable it was so salty. They seem to have a quality control issue regarding their food. Some of the staff including events manager Katarina Scott lacked professionalism and customer service when issues came up and had to complain to corporate office but do not think this reflects on the entire team. Bridal suite very disappointing after paying extra $200 to get in early for photos as room needs some updating. Overall: would still recommend venue as it is beautiful and well run for the most part but would emphasize that they monitor food better and be more sensitive to customer concerns.

I absolutely loved working with CityFlatsHotel! Their staff went above and beyond the call of duty making sure that everything was set for our special day. The Ballroom was gorgeous and we received so many compliments on our venue.

Choosing the Ballroom @ CityFlatsHotel for our reception and ceremony was the best decision we made for our wedding day. Working with Hannah as our event coordinator was nothing short of amazing as she is super organized and promptly responded to all our questions and concerns. She was super helpful in making sure we stayed on schedule and everything ran smoothly. She really calmed my nerves when it came to any and all issues and small details that came up. We also received many compliments on the presentation and taste of the food and on the awesomeness of the staff. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone and everyone. We are so grateful to Hannah and the staff at CityFlatsHotel - you helped make our dreams come true on our big day :)

Amazing! From the moment we booked everyone was great! Katrina was fast at responding and made us feel very confident in everything. The day-of staff went above and beyond! My cake topped was WAY to big for the cake and the day of coordinator went out and got a few flowers to help blend everything... amazing! The night was beautiful and I would recommend the Ballroom to everyone!

The Ballroom at City Flats was the best possible choice of venue for our perfect day. We were hesitant about the price point at first, with only 10k to spend on an 80 person wedding - but the all inclusive nature of the venue and the amazing service really made every penny worth it. In fact, we saved more money utilizing the amenities included with The Ballroom than we would have at a more modest location. First, the space is absolutely stunning. Very few enhancements were needed to make our wedding picture perfect. White linens, chiavari chairs, silver charges, all dinner ware, and 3 custom light settings were already provided for us. All we needed to provide were the centerpieces! The food was delicious. Several guests complimented us and said that the food was the best they'd had at a wedding. CityFlats even honored our menu choices after they changed their menu and removed one of our dinner selections. Everything came out in a timely manner and at the right temperature. Service was out-of-this-world amazing. When you book at City Flats you pretty much get a free day-of coordinator! Katarina and her colleagues made sure everything ran smoothly and on-time. The wait staff was prompt with delivering food and clearing tables. They even went out of their way to find coffee and deliver it to guests who asked. Not only were they helpful on the day of our wedding - Katarina helped us run our rehearsal, too. Our vendors had no problem delivering and setting up at City Flats. The lighting and sound system were flawless. Every single detail of our ceremony and reception went exactly as we dreamed it would. My husband and I are thrilled with how perfect our day was and we are confident that any other couple would be just as happy to have their wedding here. *Please note that our experience staying as guests at the hotel itself was different than our experience with the event space and staff. This review only considers the use of the event space for our ceremony and reception.*

Everyone at City Flats was absolutely amazing! Emma was so supportive and able to adjust to last minute changes. The communication was perfect and the space at City Flats was gorgeous! All our guests had a great time!

This venue is amazing! Everything was perfect from start to finish. Everyone complimented the venue and especially the food! Drinks were awesome and not light pours! Highly reccomend. Anything brought in from the outside your responsible for set up and tear down so luckily we had a coordinator. They will not provide you one or help with centerpiece set up. But overall we loved our experience!

CityFlats did a great job in coordinating everything we needed for our day. The food was FANTASTIC and probably the best wedding food I’ve ever had. Our guests were very pleased with the food as well. The venue was perfect for our wedding and everything went smoothly on our day! I loved the option of picking different lighting for different times throughout the ceremony and reception. We were able to use the bridal suite the day of, and it was the perfect spot to get ready with my girls!

The venue exceeded our expectations! We originally chose it because it because it was BEAUTIFUL inside and because it seemed to be the most reasonably priced for the off season. Once the planning began I enjoyed working with the team as well - prompt and super helpful with the many questions I had! Not to mention since we got married in the off season we were able to decorate the ballroom the day prior and have our cakes delivered as well since there wasn't any other events booked. This made it so much more enjoyable and they were so flexible around this! The ballroom itself is beautiful and honestly doesn't need a lot of decor which made it a unique location with so much character all on its own. The only thing we didn't think about when booking that we didn't love was the fact that our guests had to pay for parking in the ramp or around the downtown area to get to reception but CityFlats offers the option for you to pay for their parking if you are able and willing! Would definitely recommend this venue to anyone looking for a classy ballroom reception with so much ability to make it your own style!

The team at City Flats is incredible. My husband and I planned our Grand Rapids wedding from our home in Boston. Katarina and Jess were always quick to answer our emails and calls. They made planning from so far away a wonderful experience. The service is excellent. A huge selling point for this venue is not only the beauty, but the convenience. They do everything! From tables, chairs, dishes, they do it all! And the food is incredible. Guest have continued to tell us the food tasted fantastic as well as looked excellent in presentation. We also used the hotel for a wedding block. With a lot of out of town guests it was so convenient to have them stay right above the ballroom.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception in the ballroom and it was everything we hoped it would be. Our guests loved the space and thought the food was excellent compared to other weddings. Katarina during planning, and she was very helpful, knowledgeable and responsive. We used the Parlour for hair and makeup and it was so convenient, especially given the weather on our wedding day was windy and stormy. Ashley was so easy to coordinate with on planning, and all of the girls were happy with their hair and makeup providers. We are so happy we chose CityFlats!

We had our reception at City Flats and it was completely flawless! We worked very closely with Katarina, one of the wedding coordinators, and she did an amazing job helping us every step of the way. She helped with all of the minute details of making our day spectacular- from connecting with our vendors for set-up and take-down, making sure the food was on point, to keeping the Big Day running on time and smoothly. Her and the staff here did an incredible job. I would highly recommend this venue not only for it's gorgeous elegant feel, but the helpfulness of the staff and the great food. We loved everyone we worked with at City Flats! They were very quick with response to emails and calls, answered all questions with high understanding of the facility and our needs, and were very friendly. This is an exquisite venue in every way! Words cannot adequately describe the beauty of Cityflats Ballroom. Once you see it, your breath will be taken away. From the marble pillars, railing and dance floor to the ornately carved ceilings and walls, this place just marvels in elegance. There were no surcharges for pretty Chiavari chairs, chargers, etc. The ballroom is so naturally beautiful, that there's no need to spend money on decorations; it's simply perfect as it stands. Our daughter's wedding took place this summer. The wedding coordinator(s) made the day worry free and unforgettable! Their attention to our every need was met. We had guests with food allergies, and the chef prepared appetizers and the meals gluten free, so that there would be no cross contamination at no extra fee. What an outstanding job to give everyone peace of mind. The day of coordinator(s) came with no additional fees, and were so professional and charming. They appeared and disappeared like magic, and were there for our every need. The hotel being attached to the venue was wonderful, even though there are many hotels within walking distance. The beds are very comfortable! Rooms vary, so be specific in your needs. This venue was absolutely fabulous!

My husband and I had our wedding reception at The Ballroom and I am still in awe of how amazingly it went! Planning the reception from across the country was tricky, but the staff were quite responsive and had easy responses to most of our questions. We held our reception here for a number of reasons: 1) it's a beautiful ballroom without the austerity of some older, stuffier ballrooms, and we had the vibe that listening to modern music wouldn't feel out of place, while the LED lights make it more modern and fun; 2) because it's beautiful with fun LED lights, we didn't think we needed a tremendous amount of decoration aside from centerpieces and a few miscellaneous tables, and we were very right (if you are lazy or prefer simplicity, this is the place for you); 3) we were coordinating the wedding from California and from the get-go the event staff were highly responsive and worked with my shifted time schedule, and made a lot of concessions to allow other "representatives" help us with planning (viewing the ballroom, choosing food, paying, etc.); 4) because we live in Los Angeles, we wanted somewhere that would be highly impressive to those "jaded" guests coming from LA and The Ballroom did not disappoint. Also, considering that the reception dinner was the first time I tried all the food we selected, I was incredibly impressed. My husband hoarded a ton of appetizers before our dinner was served, and both our entree options were delicious! I really can't get over how easy Katarina and Bella made the week before the wedding, they really have the whole process down to a science! Didn't make personalized table markers? No problem, they have some! Want to pay for parking for your guests? They can get parking vouchers! Want to set up early to avoid the time crunch between ceremony and reception? They had the room set up immediately after the last event before our wedding and we were able to get in early! Have a parent with a lot of input on the seating chart and how tables are set up? They are so understanding in dealing with that and will take table layout suggestions within reason! The whole experience was amazing and our guests are still telling us how enjoyable the evening was.

As soon as my now husband and I walked into the venue, we knew we wanted to get married there. From the high ceilings and large columns to the huge windows and mezzanine, everything was so beautiful. Working with Katarina was wonderful. I e-mailed her a lot of questions, especially during the last few weeks of planning, and she was very responsive and helpful. All of our guests raved about how beautiful the venue was and how great the food was. I can only say great things about our day here and we are so thankful we had our ceremony & reception here.

I love this Venue!!! I was married at the ballroom two weeks ago. My husdband and I had the best night of our lives, but the best part was how much fun our family and friends had . I could not make it from one end of the ballroom without someone stopping me to tell me what a fabulous time they had. We had both our wedding ceremony and reception at the hotel. I was worried for months about the two hour gap in between, but guests had fun in the events space below and the hotel is amazing about the flip. People are stunned when they walk into the venue. My guests loved cocktail hour. The hotel never ran out of food and not a single bit of food was left at the cocktail hour when we transitioned to the hotel ballroom. You could also let your guests just walk around downtown. They will have plenty to see and do. When you work with the hotel, the staff is beyond professional throughout the entire planning process and during the reception. In particular, Katarina did an amazing job with promptly answering our questions and with making sure every detail was perfect on our wedding day. I also loved working with Bella and Sarah!!! They were at the hotel the night of the event and they went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly. They even ran our rehersal and told us when to walk and where to stand. I can’t begin to explain how helpful this really was! Planning a wedding can be very stressful, but luckily our venue never added to this stress. Secondly, the food was sensational. I was a little underwhlemed in our tasting, but on the day of the event the food shined. My husband and I recieved such wonderful compliments all night long. I love that the hotel will cut your cake for free. There is no hidden fees for cake cutting. Lastly the venue itself is beyond gorgeous. From the vintage architecture on the ceiling and walls to the endless choices in uplighting colors, the Ballroom @ City Flats is truly a hidden gem. There was no need to over decorate because the venue speaks for itself. We couldn’t ask for a better experience at the Ballroom and we are so happy we chose to have our reception here! I would highly recommend this venue they are worth every penny of the cost.

Holy crap, CityFlats! What an amazing adventure! This venue is by far one of the most beautiful available downtown. From the heart of the city location to the original wood work and marble EVERYTHING in the ballroom. This place was the best. My wife and I recently held our wedding here, it was indeed one of the most enjoyable nights of my life. Largely in part of this venue. Yes the place is beautiful, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. The staff is unbelievably friendly and easy to work with. Our event coordinator Jess was a dream to work with. She asked all the pertiant questions (most I didn't even think to ask myself) and paid an amazing attention to detail. She was prompt is all of our communications and I felt she went the distance to make it as special a day as possible for us. That we really do appreciate of her. Thank you, Jess. This place even ended up making my signature drink! It was delicious and went over great with my friends and family. The food there is also to die for! Every single one of my guests made it a point to specifically Point out how delectable the food was. Plus the fact that it's attached right to the Monroe Center parking ramp via a Skywalk was SUPER convenient when setting everything up for the big day. Long story short, if you're on the fence about this place, don't be! It's absolutely amazing. We now have such a memorable wedding night to look back on, and I couldn't be more happy that it was enjoyed in the cityflats ballroom. Ciao Bella!

Venue is beautiful, but I was not particularly impressed with the service. Overpriced and not very accommodating, felt like we were just another wedding to get through. Wish I had chosen somewhere else.

Booking The City Flats Ballroom was the best decision we made! It was an absolute breeze from beginning to end. Katarina and her team are pleasant and professional to work with. They handled our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Everything was completely seamless. Having the Parlour and a bridal suite on-site was also a huge bonus. 10/10, would recommend!

Perfect night! We had our wedding at the City Flats Ballroom last month and couldn't be happier. The venue was beautiful, very organized, everything went off without a hitch, dinner was excellent. Everyone we worked with went out of their way to make it a great experience for us. We also decided on setting up reception tables for the actual ceremony, cutting our turnaround time down to mere minutes, and they were happy to accommodate.

City Flats was the perfect venue for our daughter's wedding. It is beautiful but more than that, every person I talked to was just wonderful. Katarina was so friendly and knowledgeable and never got at all impatient with me emailing with little questions, many, many times. Sarah and Andrea were also so professional and kind. I would recommend City Flats over and over again for a wedding.

We had a great experience with City Flats. My husband is an architect and I plan events for a living, so finding the right space for us was... challenging. The Ballroom @ City Flats was the right mix of beautiful space and experienced, helpful staff. We did both our ceremony and our reception in the ballroom. The staff was helpful every step of the way, even squeezing in two extra meals the day of the wedding. They made everything easy for us. The space (a ballroom with natural light!!) continues to amaze, and our guests are still talking about it. The only challenge (and the reason it isn't 5 stars) is that there is a 2 hour turn-around time between the ceremony and reception if both are held in the ballroom. We made it work, and our guests had a great time wandering the city, but it did make the timing a little more challenging. I would highly recommend using City Flats.

I had my wedding at The Ballroom and it surpassed all of my expectations and my husband's expectations. The team at CityFlats is nothing short of amazing. They are organized and responsive and I felt as though they went above and beyond for us. Our guests were in awe of how beautiful the Ballroom was and everyone enjoyed the food. It was also so convenient to be able to stay in the hotel, get our hair and makeup done at the Parlour in the hotel and have our ceremony/reception in the Ballroom. We could not be happier that we had our wedding and reception at the Ballroom.

I could not have imagined a more PERFECT venue. We still hear endless compliments on how beautiful the space was and how delicious the food was! Everything was flawless and perfect from a venue perspective. Alex did an incredible job the day of and Maggie made everything leading up to the day of easy and flawless! They are organized and pleasant and so easy to work with. One comment we recieved in particular was regarding the acoustics. A guest commented on how it was first time he was able to clearly hear the band well while still being able to have a normal conversation with those at his table. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS VENUE!!!

We loved the City Flats Ballroom and their entire team for my daughter's wedding! They made the planning process so easy. My daughter had her reception at City Flats Ballroom on June 10th. The staff, especially, Katarina, were very professional and thorough. Stomething to note. They assist with the seating arrangements. Everything was handled smoothly and efficiently and they kept us on track. The evening was so much fun people did not want to leave. Comment after comment was how beautiful the venue was. I am very impressed with this venue and highly recommend it. For the luxury it provides it really is reasonablly priced and they work within your budget to accomodate. We are highly satisfied!

We had a wonderful wedding in this wonderful venue! The team went beyond to make everything flawless! Our guest loved the food (NY Strip & Salmon) and the beautiful venue! The team was through the whole process very responsive and supportive! Especially the last minute changes in guest count, adding champagne toast, ... , were handled perfectly! On the day, Conner was always available for any question. Huge thanks to Maggie and Conner + team!

She always answered any questions I had. City flats is the most beautiful venue i have ever seen. The lights, the staff, the vibe, the food, the drinks ARE AMAZING. It is WORTH every penny!

My experience with The Ballroom at City Flats was a dream. It was the first venue I visited when starting my wedding planning, and I knew instantly that it was the right place. Maggie, the event coordinator I worked with from day 1, was incredible. She was always responsive and helpful with any question that I had and never made me feel like I was being overbearing. I had both my ceremony and reception in the ballroom and the flip time (2 hours) was barely noticeable. The room completely transformed with different up-lighting (included) and open vs. closed shades on the large, magnificent windows. My guests could not stop talking about how incredibly gorgeous the room was. The catering is provided by City Flats and it was delicious! We are beyond impressed and immeasurably thankful for the service and experience at this venue. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

My wedding is in 3 months, so I will have to update this in August, but I just couldn't wait! Let me start by saying I booked the venue BEFORE even seeing it. Granted my mom and mother-in-law saw it, but I was already impressed! The staff was/is very quick to respond and always pleasant. Maggie has been absolutely amazing. My family is in Grand Rapids, but my fiance and I are in Florida. She has been able to accommodate my crazy and inflexible schedule by fitting me in whenever I am in town, sometimes last minute. Maggie answers any questions that I have, has moved things around countless times, offered to get more information on certain things, and has overall been so helpful. The space itself is absolutely stunning. Our 1920's theme is going to be spectacular in this space! I'll update after the wedding, but my fiance and I are so excited to have picked the Ballroom!

Our wedding ceremony and reception was in the beautiful and elegant Ballroom @ City Flats Hotel. Their customer service was excellent and so was the dinner. They were quite accommodating to us and very helpful in the planning process; being from out of town with most family and friends traveling to the wedding, this was very important. We are Very Satisfied and would recommend this venue to anyone interested in hosting an event at City Flats Hotel.
