We held a catered memorial reception for 150 people in the Associates Pavilion, a beautiful, spacious covered pavilion close to parking and restroom facilities, in May of 2024. It was absolutely perfect!
The Wolf Trap staff was on top of everything; they supplied and operated audio equipment for us, as well as chairs, tables, podium, etc. They work with 14 different caterers, and we chose Purple Onion, who were equally terrific!
It was a well oiled machine. We never had to worry about the details being taken care of.
The space itself is large and open but somehow warm and inviting too. It overlooks the meadow and the back of the Filene Center. Drop off at the door was possible for those on crutches, etc. so no one was left to struggle to attend.
Their bar staff was excellent. Their hospitality was superb. I would recommend Wolf Trap to anyone with a special event!
We were OBSESSED! This venue was the only one correct for me and my husband. We love that the money spent on our wedding venue supports an arts organization and a national park! They were great to work with and the entire wedding was amazing. Great staff who were easy to work with!
We loved having our wedding at the Barns at Wolf Trap. Having booked a live band, once seeing this space, it was hard to top it. The stage and acoustics of the room were fantastic. The staff was very helpful and responsive. Having 2 spaces for cocktail hour and reception was so great and the outdoor courtyard area was great if you needed fresh air. Abundant free parking was also a plus!
With this venue, you have to have The Barns at Wolf Trap provide the alcohol. Although packages were pricey, and they provide a more limited beer selection, the service of the drinks was great and there was never a line for the bar.
This venue is fantastic, but they only have a limited amount of days available for weddings depending on the season because of concerts. We had to have our wedding on a Sunday due to limited availability. If this venue is of interest inquire about availability right away!
I can’t count the number of times our guests told us they loved the venue we chose for our wedding this past September. The Barns are just stunning and have so much character on their own, we barely needed to decorate. The layout is great, the price is affordable, Ginger & Jordann are super helpful, parking is easy, sliding barn doors and an enclosed courtyard make for great indoor/outdoor options if the weather is nice, I could go on and on. If you’re looking for a rustic vibe or just want a really great stage for your live band to jam out on, definitely look into The Barns at Wolf Trap!
The Barns was the first and last venue that we saw in person; as soon as we went to take a tour we knew it was the venue for us. The space is beautiful and unique with exposed wood, you truly don't need a lot of decoration because the space speaks for itself! We had our gift and guest book tables set up in the lobby, used the English Barn for cocktail hour, and the German Barn for the reception. The English Barn has a built in bar, and had plenty of spaces for cocktail rounds and a photo booth. The German barn was beautiful with rounds and a long center table, had a stage where the DJ set up and a decent size dance floor. We had 130 guests, which fit comfortably with our layout. There's a heavy door that separates the German and English barns which was perfect because it allowed people (grandparents) who wanted a break from the dancing/party to have somewhere nice to sit and be able to talk. There's plenty of parking, an outdoor courtyard, and closet for guests to hang up their coats (it rained all day on our wedding day).
Kaitlyn was our contact and she was great! Very attentive and proactive, she answered all my questions quickly and I never felt like I was annoying her.
A few things to know: You have to use their bar service and one of their approved caterers. The catering thing ended up being very helpful because it gave me somewhere to start and the one we chose was very familiar with the venue. The bar service wasn't anymore expensive than anywhere else, and it included professional bartenders who made great drinks and prevented any issues like guests walking off with bottles of alcohol. Having your wedding on a Saturday would be really challenging, because they usually have shows/concerts that day. Key is be flexible! If you're open to getting married "out of season" or on another day (we got married on a Friday) it will make the booking process easier. The best part was, because we had our event on a Friday we got a discount!!
Overall, we LOVED having our reception at The Barns and are beyond happy with our choice. Our guests are still commenting on how beautiful and unique our venue was. I highly recommend them!
The Barns at Wolf Trap are a beautiful venue for weddings and incredibly well laid out for a ceremony & reception. The larger of the two spaces, the German barn, is small enough that a ceremony doesn't feel vacuous and is just big enough for 130 folks at round tables for dinner leaving enough space for dancing. The English barn is well matched in size for cocktail hour, again keeping things cozy without being tight at all. The lobby and entry hallway provide places for folks to talk more privately and, if the weather is good, the courtyard is a great extra space for guests to relax in.
Wolf Trap requires that their bar handle all of the liquor (though the caterers can pour wine for dinner), but we didn't find that to be problematic as even their most basic beer & wine package had very good options.
The one frustrating bit was not being able to deliver (not set up, just drop in a corner, or basement, or bathroom stall…) decorations the day before or pick them up the day after. Thankfully we had a coordinator who was able to help out with moving the stuff in addition to setting it up.
My daughter had her wedding reception Sept 13, 2014 at the Barns of Wolf Trap and it was the perfect wedding venue for a rustic wedding. The coordinator, Rosie, was so helpful and truly helped give us the perfect day. The dates available are very limited but if you are flexible, it's wonderful, affordable and gorgeous. We used Main Events Catering, Sweets by E, Griffin Harrington Photography and My Wedding Flowers. It was the dream team and my daughter's day was absolute perfection.
We had our reception at the Barns at Wolf Trap and it was wonderful! It was a great choice in that it had a lot of rustic charm, but was still formal for a wedding reception. We looked at other barn venues, but with Wolf Trap, we didn’t have to worry about the weather, or lighting, heat, bathrooms, etc. Working with Rosie was wonderful; she ensured we got the date we wanted and made finding a caterer easy. The only thing we were nervous about was seeing how everything was going to come together since each time we visited the Barns, it was set up for a performance. However, when we arrived at the reception, we were blown away by how beautiful it looked! It was so cozy and inviting and everything we had wanted! We are so happy with our choice and love that we can always go back for a performance for an anniversary!
The Barns at Wolftrap was a beautiful location for our ceremony. It offered us a very unique and rustic feel. It was a very intimate location. Our family and friends have been complimenting our choice since the wedding. The only thing that killed us is that alcohol is very expensive, and you have to use their alcohol plan, you can't bring in your own.
I recently used the Barns as my wedding venue. It's beautiful and was the perfect rustic venue. It has two barns that are joined together that make it simple to do both the ceremony and reception in the same location as well as allowing for ample space in the reception. Rosie, the point of contact, was very helpful and made sure everything ran smoothly. She is opinionated but she does know what works and what doesn't. However there are a few things to be aware of, you have to use a caterer from their approved list of about 10, you have to buy your alcohol from them (which is expensive) and you cannot hang things on the walls, use white chairs and some other details because of the barns historical traits. Overall, I thought it was an awesome place and many commented saying that they were not aware you could do events there.
The Barns is a very affordable (for the Northern VA area) and unique venue, which is why we chose it. Because it normally hosts musician performances, the acoustics were amazing (we had a live band). There is a lot of WOOD, which worked well for our rustic/crafty type wedding, but this would not be a good place to hold a high-end, elegant wedding. You are not allowed to marry outside, so the ceremony and reception both take place in the German Barn, and the cocktail hour takes place in the adjacent English Barn. Everything is self-contained, which was super convenient. Also note, you must use Wolf Trap's bar service, so you can't bring in your own alcohol. Free parking abounds.
Rosie is the event coordinator at The Barns, and she is extremely helpful and responsive. She will answer any questions you have, make suggestions, help make sure you haven't forgotten anything, etc. She is also on site the day of the wedding and serves as a sort of "day of planner" by making sure everyone is where they need to be at the right time and managing all the vendors on site. She didn't seem crazy about all of my ideas, and sometimes she was right, so I changed my mind, but other times I stuck to my guns and she helped carry out my plans. I highly recommend both The Barns and Rosie!
Oh, one last note - you cannot actually reserve a wedding date at the Barns until their yearly performance schedule comes out. We got married in September, and could not reserve a date until January of the same year. Get on the waiting list as soon as you are ready, though, because once the performance schedule is out, she will work her way down the list, calling each couple and reserving the specific date they want.
Everything about our wedding was wonderful and much of that was due to the customer relations provided by the Barns of Wolf Trap. We held the ceremony and reception both at the Barns and it really was the most beautiful wedding that I have ever seen.;I would not recommend more than 150 guests if you want enough room on your dance floor.
