I can’t say enough about how wonderful the Bernards Inn was for our wedding. We had our rehearsal dinner at the Red Horse restaurant there too. The service was beyond amazing! Amanda and Felix, our coordinators were incredibly attentive and a total pleasure to work with. Chris our waiter was great. The food was incredible and everyone raved about it. Chef Burke was there and congratulated us. My bridal attendant seemed to anticipate my every want and need ahead of time. If great food and service is what you’re looking for, no place else could possibly come close. Book it!
We planned our wedding in 2.5 months. We had our wedding back in October 2015 and I think back on it with such fondness. It was perfection! We loved the food, the ambiance, the liquor, and the wedding planning was easy and straight forward! They also gave us a military discount! We had 44 people and had it in the downstairs space - exactly what I wanted!
Asked Elizabeth 3 times in email what Saturdays are available for wedding. She does not provide an answer and instead pushes her own agenda for scheduling a tour and having 100 minimum guests. She ignored my last email where I simply wrote “What Saturdays are available?” Bernards Inn website says they are great for smaller parties. She confirmed me for a tour when I made explicit that I wanted to confirm a possible wedding date first.
The Bernards Inn was the perfect venue for our wedding. Linda, Ally, and staff made our day one we will never forget. All the small details came together to create the day of our dreams. The Bernards Inn is truly a special place, which has it all (service, food, history, luxury, and beauty). We were overjoyed and thrilled at how they went above and beyond our expectations to make our wedding the absolute best!
The Bernards Inn provided an exceptional ceremony venue and reception for us. I worked primarily with Jessica who was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and responsive. Jessica knows the Bernards Inn and weddings inside and out and really eased a lot of my nerves and anxiety.
THE CEREMONY:
Jessica helped us with our ceremony rehearsal and made sure it flowed perfectly. The ballroom makes for a beautiful venue and they had it set up quite intimately.
THE COCKTAIL HOUR:
This part really flew by for me but the food was AMAZING. Our guests thought that the cocktail hour was in fact dinner, that's how much food there was! The Silver Vault and Wine Pantry is a really cool room, and having the cocktail hour right after the ceremony made for a seamless experience.
THE RECEPTION:
The reception was absolutely beautiful. The service was amazing and Tammy, my bridal attendant was so attentive and sweet. Jake, the maitre d really had the evening on lock, looking out for the small details. I really appreciated that there was someone to look after things like the cake cutting so my family, husband and I could enjoy the evening.
The food was excellent. The cake was gorgeous (just what I wanted- alternating gold and white tiers) and so tasty. The mignardise were a really nice touch and made the desserts look particularly classy. They even took cues from our decor and stationery for the pastries and menus.
Overall, the facilities are gorgeous. It's a really classy venue and not too big, perfect for our 102 guests. I hope we get to go back but now I have a beautiful Bernards Inn robe to serve as a reminder of that incredible evening.
My wife selected the Bernards Inn to host our wedding reception for approximately 110 people, and it turned out to be an exceptional experience. Not only did our friends and family love the venue, including the food, the service, and the reception spaces, but the Bernards Inn staff (Bonnie, Jake, and Barbara) dropped everything to ensure that my wife and I felt like VIPs. Upon arrival to the hotel, our personal attendant provided us with champagne, cocktails, and an assortment of appetizers. As the night progressed, our every need was met, and even some things we didn’t ask for were kindly provided, such as a cover for our entrees to keep them warm as we spoke with our guests. When a glass broke on the dance floor, our maître d' was literally on his hands and knees drying the floor, cleaning up glass, and ensuring that no one was injured. It was an unforgettable evening, and thanks to the world class service of the Bernards Inn, we were able to enjoy every moment. Thank you Bernards Inn!
We had our wedding reception at the Bernard's Inn and it could not have been more perfect! The Inn is such a beautiful setting between the cozy wine pantry and silver vault where we had our cocktail hour to the gorgeous ballroom upstairs. Bonnie was an absolute pleasure to work with from start to finish. She ensured that planning was easy and seamless and flawlessly executed our vision. All of our guests were raving about how wonderful the evening was from the food that was out of this world to the impeccable service, the Bernard's Inn was truly the perfect setting for our wedding!! One of my favorite things from the night was our cake. The on-site pastry chef really outdid herself, we had sent over a few pictures and ideas and the end result was even more beautiful then I could have imagined! The Bernard's Inn is truly an incredible venue and we cannot thank the staff there enough for making our wedding the most wonderful night of our lives!!
I live in Sweden and had to trust the opinions of my mother and my sister in NJ with a lot of things. I trust them completely but our opinions on things are not always the same! I only saw the Bernards Inn for the first time a few months before the wedding and my husband saw it only a few days before... It was a scary undertaking but well worth the risk. We chose the Inn because it was accommodating to 'smaller' weddings and there were also rooms for a number of the people we had traveling in. Bonnie was exceptional and truly professional right from the beginning. She was accommodating to us wanting to have a non-traditional NJ wedding in order to incorporate a number of Swedish aspects. Everything was amazing and there were things they thought of that I wouldn't have even imagined needing myself until it was offered. Everything went smoothly and it was easy to leave everything in their hands and trust it was going to happen. The food was amazing - some friends said it was the best cocktail hour they ever attended, even though we had scaled down the food offerings completely by NJ standards! We had dinner in the ballroom and dancing downstairs, and everything worked perfectly. I can't say enough amazing things about Bonnie and all of the staff at the Bernards Inn. I thank them all for making our wedding day truly memorable!!
We just had our son's wedding at the Bernards Inn. We wanted a romantic and intimate venue, not a typical catering hall. The Bernards Inn was perfect. It was elegant, beautiful and best of all, it seemed as if we had the entire Inn to ourselves. The food was amazing and the service outstanding. Bonnie, the Inn's wedding manager, was so easy to work with. She made sure that we got everything we asked for and even had a special surprise for us to make the wedding look more beautiful. The pastry chef made the wedding cake exactly like the bride picked out and it was delicious. Our guests are still talking about our son's wedding and how glamorous it was.
I am so happy that we chose to have our wedding at the Bernards Inn. Everything about our wedding was perfect and everyone is still raving about the food.
I highly recommend working with Jessica Quesada. We had our ceremony at the Bernards Inn and got ready there as well. She worked continuously that day to make sure that every aspect of our wedding went smoothly She was also a pleasure to work with.
I also absolutely loved my Bridal attendant Rosanna. She made sure that every need was met and she managed to make sure that I had a chance to eat!!!
My husband and I wanted a small intimate wedding with good fun and wonderful ambiance. The bernards inn exceeded our expectations. Bonnie was our coordinator and she was amazing! She made us feel completely relaxed. We had our ceremony and reception at the inn and everything ran like clockwork. The staff was very attentive to us and our guests, especially my parents. We all had an amazing time and I was totally relaxed knowing they had taken care of everything. The food was amazing; our guests loved it all. We had about 80 guests and Bonnie worked closely with us on the room layout to make sure everyone would be comfortable. Thank you bernards inn and Bonnie for being so wonderful! Everything was top notch and we couldn't have been happier. We can't wait to celebrate our anniversary every year at the inn :)
I cannot recommend the Bernards Inn enough. If you're a bride wondering where to host your event, and you're having a more intimate ceremony/reception like we did, then look no further! The Bernards Inn is PERFECTION.
We began planning this wedding shortly after my (now) husband proposed to me on January 1 of this year. Since I've been waiting my entire life to find "The One" and tie the knot, I didn't want to drag out our engagement. I decided June 28th would be the day to make it official. After considering alternate venues, debating elopement, and dealing with all the typical drama wedding preparation entails, we visited the Bernards Inn and fell in love.
I knew it was going to be "the" venue after reviewing the images of The Silver Vault online. I had a vision of how I wanted my wedding to be (I'd bought all sorts of vintage antiques and I created my own table decorations -- twine-wrapped bottles, etc. -- for that sort of shabby-chic look. Our initial wedding planner, Carrie, was kind and courteous and very friendly. She assisted us through all the initial hurdles of wedding preparation. My parents, my husband, and I were very impressed.
Carrie resigned from the staff about three weeks prior to my wedding. Jessica took over our wedding, and we were nervous about the switch up...after all, Carrie had been with us since day one! That said, it must have been FATE that Jessica picked up where Carrie left off... Jessica went through every single piece of decor I brought to the Inn (and I had a cargo van FULL of items), taking approximately 2 hours to suggest what would and would not work based on my wedding theme.
I was nervous that I wasn't going to be able to access the Silver Vault the day of our nuptials until close to the actual ceremony time. I found Jessica downstairs with the staff, ensuring every item was lovingly placed in the most perfect locations -- I couldn't have organized my things better myself! I was BEYOND relieved and pleased that Jessica "got" my vision, and helped me through every step leading up to the final moments before we wed.
The staff was BEYOND exceptional. The FOOD beyond exceptional. The service, the attention to detail, the preparation, the event itself, PHENOMENAL. My husband's aunt is a caterer and said in her 20 years on the job had never been to a better wedding (and that wasn't just because my husband is her nephew!).
A++++++ / 5 stars / top billing / the works!!!!
Thank you Jessica, and the Bernards Inn, for making my wedding vision a reality! We couldn't have done it without you all!!!!
BTW - We stayed in one of the largest rooms for the night of our wedding. It was GORGEOUS. Room 10! :D
If you are looking for elegance, charm and character along with distinct service, The Bernards Inn is your place. Diane helped us out from the beginning as our wedding consultant, and she made the planning very easy. On the day of our wedding, everything run smoothly and all of the stuff was incredibly nice and professional. I cannot say enough about the food: DELICIOUS and the presentation was uniquely wonderful! All of our guests had only praises for the food and the venue. Diane and her staff went out of their ways to please us and even gave us the adjacent room for our cocktail hour, since it was not used. What a nice surprise and at no extra cost! I just cannot say enough about the experience and the people working there.
We recently got married at The Bernards Inn and it exceeded our expectations in all ways possible. From our first meeting with Diane Carr back in January when she gave us a tour of the venue until the day after our wedding when we were finishing our post wedding day brunch- not only Diane- but the entire staff treated us and our guests like royalty. While Diane is the general manager- she also serves as a top notch wedding planner- the detailed briefings and checklists filled out before our big day made us feel confident that no detail was overlooked- and I'm happy to report no stone was left unturned- and this was a big thanks to Diane and her follow up and stellar communication skills. The room set ups (Wine Pantry and Fenwick Ballroom) looked dazzling and we can't say enough great things about the food. Also Diane made sure our ceremony- that also took place on the Inn's grounds- was flawlessly executed, stuck to the time frame allotted and that all parties looked fully coordinated. If there was one thing I would change about the wedding- it would be that I wish it could have been a week long affair at the Inn- rather than just a weekend. Though one added bonus- the Inn gave us a "1st anniversary get away" gift- so we will be back next year to relive the magic. We really could not be happier with everything that The Bernards Inn had to offer and we would recommend this property to anyone planning a wedding or any other type of special event without hesitation. One final thing to mention- the service didn't just stop with our wedding planning- Diane and her team make an effort to really get to know the couple and when she learned we were going to Napa for our honeymoon she gave us some great recommendations of must see's and restaurant advice. This all just goes hand and hand with the 5 star service you will receive if you choose this venue. Thanks Bernards Inn team for a truly exceptional wedding weekend!
Everyone at the Bernards Inn made my wedding day a complete success. The food was amazing, the service was unbeatable and the cake was absolutely gorgeous. Special thanks to Bonnie and her team for all of their hard work!
Our wedding this past April was flawless from start to finish thanks to the attention to detail by the Bernard's Inn staff. For the entire weekend Bonnie & the staff at the Inn made us feel like VIPs and made sure everything went according to plan! Could not have imagined a better evening! Our guests are still talking about how wonderful the food/venue/accommodations were!
excellent
The Bernards Inn made our Wedding the most beautiful wedding I have ever seen. Our guests raved for days about the food, decor and cake. Bonnie was absolutely amazing. She helped us plan until every little detail was perfect. Booking this venue really made this the most perfect day. The cocktail hour lasts 90 minutes and the signature cocktail was to die for. We had a sundae bar which was a huge hit and the cake was exactly like the picture we requested and tasted phenomenal. I cannot rave about the Bernards Inn enough. They truly made the day spectacular!
I had my wedding September 21, 2012 and could not have asked for a more beautiful venue! The service was spectacular - paid a lot of attention to all details and food was amazing! Thank you so much to all at the Bernards Inn!
We couldn't be happier with how our wedding turned out at The Bernards Inn. Diane Carr and Lauren Montemoro were amazing to work with, assisting with every detail and helping to ensure our day was perfect. The place is beautiful, we had our ceremony and reception in the Silver Wine Vault. We fell in love with the charm of the room and new it would be the perfect spot. The Inn's rooms are all recently renovated, yet maintaining the style and charm of the historical site. The food was amazing and the chef's ability to accommodate our guests with special food requests (gluten free, vegan, vegetarian), was truly appreciated by us as well as our guests; several commented this was the first special event they had been to and felt welcomed and able to enjoy the meal. The seasonal selections offered for each course were so unique. The cake was amazing, it was the best wedding cake I've ever had, very moist, icing was perfect. The chef was able to recreate a cake based on a picture we found and it was exactly what we wanted.
I can't say enough about the experience here, our guests continue to comment on how much they loved the place, loved the food, and what a great time they had.
We have nothing but great things to say about the Bernards Inn. Our coordinator was Lauren and she was wonderful from the start. Immediately upon touring the Inn, we loved the charm and the quaintness of it. We had been to see many different venues and we saw few things that we liked. Many offered a great ocean view, but terrible food. The Inn was a little farther then we planned on traveling and a lot more expensive, but Lauren was able to work with us on the budget and we immediately agreed to book our wedding reception. Previously, I might have rated it less on value, but after seeing how much we got, it is definitely worth the price.
Lauren went out of her way to assist us in the planning of the wedding throughout and she would respond to any of our questions within minutes. We decided to have the ceremony at an outdoor venue at a beautiful arboretum not far from the Inn. On the day of the wedding, there was a chance of showers in the evening, but in the morning the sun was shining and we declined a ceremony at the Inn. 4:00 came and the guests were arriving at the arboretum. The groom was there as well when suddenly the skies opened up and the rain began – at a rate of 2 inches per hour! Lauren and the other wonderful people at the Inn reached out to us and told us to come back to the Inn and they would arrange some type of a ceremony. When we arrived, Lauren and the others were outside ready with umbrellas to keep every person dry. At the last minute, they put together a beautiful complete ceremony that we are so grateful for.
Every one of our guests was amazed at the way the staff made sure each and every person was taken care of. The guests loved cocktail hour and emphasized the fact that the food just kept coming. Our friends and family are still raving about the great food served throughout the reception. Many said this was the best food they ever had at a wedding. Unlike many of the other venues, we truly felt special at the Bernards Inn during every step of the way. They even left us a slice of wedding cake and other desserts in our room for us that night. Despite all of the chaos, the staff at the Inn maintained a level of professionalism that many people would not.
We would HIGHLY recommend the Bernards Inn to any couple looking for a location for their wedding.
Very professional, upscale service. All of the management, especially General Manager, Diane Carr, at Bernards Inn were on top of things. If I had a request, they would make sure it happened. Executive Chef Corey Heyer went out of his way to make sure there would be food I'd eat (since I'm on a very restrictive diet--gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, sugar-free...and what he created for me was delicious beyond words). All of the guests were asked table-side if they have special dietary needs, and all were accommodated. My guests cannot stop raving about the service and atmosphere of our venue. Many have said it was the best wedding they'd ever attended. The Bernards Inn is worth the price!
My only complaint is with the overnight accommodations...the bed in the bridal suite was rock hard and located right above the terrace bar, where rowdy revelers were partying loudly. Combine that with a baby crying in the room next door at 2:00 AM....and well, this bride didn't get much sleep the night before her big day...but, everything else was perfect.
Service was personal and impeccable; hotel and restaurant are historic and provides an intimate atmosphere;Bar in Bernard's Inn closes at midnight so after reception need to find another place to go to if want to continue celebrating
The ambience. They have a beautiful oak wood bar, excellent food and it a very cozy hotel for the immediate family to stay overnight.;Our catering manager was switched without notice, so it was a bit disconcerting when I called with follow-up questions and was told, 'Oh, she's no longer here.' I thought they forgot about me completely! The person who took over did a good job although I had to stay on top of the hotel reservations part more than I would have liked, there was some confusion when people called in to reserve, the staff would mix up the reservations or tell them they weren't on the hotel list when in fact they were, but I have to say the wedding maitre'd was excellent and he totally made our wedding night wonderful.
