About this vendor
The Black Hawk Hotel is a hotel wedding venue located in Cedar Falls, IA. This elegant destination is draped in history and proudly boasts the title of the longest continually operating hotel in the United States. A boutique hotel, it exudes character and charm and serves as an unforgettable backdrop for romantic wedding celebrations.
The Black Hawk Hotel has been welcoming guests for over 150 years. It first opened its doors in 1853 as The Winslow House, a stagecoach inn at the heart of Cedar Falls. The hotel grew as the years passed and remained in operation throughout the Civil War. When the building was ruined in a fire in the 1870s, it was rebuilt and that structure still stands today. In the early 20th century, the hotel underwent renovations and now features a blend of Second Empire and Mission Revival architecture. Today, the hotel exudes vintage glamour throughout its guestrooms and event spaces. It boasts exposed brick and antique decor, as well as contemporary details for a unique aesthetic.
The Black Hawk Hotel can accommodate up to 100 of your nearest and dearest for a romantic wedding celebration. Their team can coordinate the lobby, cocktail bar, and dining room into a cohesive event space for use exclusively for your event. They can also provide a ceremony space to serve as the backdrop for you and your partner to exchange vows. Their on-site wedding specialists are delighted to work with you to ensure the festivities run smoothly throughout the night. You and your wedding party can also avail of a hotel suite to get ready, which you can then use as your wedding night suite. This venue believes that your celebration should reflect your vision, so they operate on an open vendor policy.

We needed a last minute venue for our rain location for our small intimate ceremony and mini-reception this fall and the Black Hawk Hotel was nothing short of fantastic! We contacted them the Monday of our wedding and we were able to reserve a small room and have the bar to ourselves for a couple hours before they opened it up to the public. Deanna and the rest of the staff were clear with their communication and so helpful with all of the brainstorming we did at the last minute and answered all the questions we had. The space itself is absolutely gorgeous and made for some stunning photos - we didn't do much decorating at all other than some table-top stuff! They allowed us to set up the room however we liked and didn't charge us a set/up tear down fee since we did it all ourselves. We were also able to bring in our own food and cake, so we can't vouch for any catering or event services like that. If we had it in our budget we would've reserved the entire space for the whole evening. I had to dock a star because of the slower speed behind the bar and all of the mixed drinks were burnt and did not taste too good. I attributed that to the fact that we were a younger crowd and don't usually order any of the specialty drinks the Bar Winslow is known for. The bartenders did not wear their face masks the whole time, but our guests did not either. However I think it is worth noting, especially during the time of COVID-19 weddings. I am so happy with the way our day turned out and I'm even thinking about using them for future parties and events! If you're thinking about booking with them they are definitely worth contacting and touring! They made sure our day was absolutely as perfect as possible!
We stayed here on the night of our wedding and it was fabulous! Beautiful decor, nice suites with great tubs, and comfortable bed. Great service as well. Same price as the ComfortInn, but a much better experience.
