We just had our wedding at The Campbell House in “The Barn” and had an awesome experience. We were a little uneasy after reading some of the reviews before hand but I can’t say enough great things about Lindsay (event coordinator) and the staff. Everything went so smoothly and we were able to stay within our budget. I would recommend this place to anyone!
We loved the Barn space - it had a uniquelly Kentucky feel without being a true barn and didn't have a typical "hotel ballroom" vibe. Plus the outdoor areas allow for some absolutely gorgeus shots that have almost a New Orleans/Charleston vibe on the front porch. Being able to have guests stay there was super nice without having to deal with people drinking and driving or finding parking. Lindsey worked with us and was always on top of everything and always willing to give honest advice and tips. The food was great and the buffet was the quickest of any event I've ever been to. The staff day of was super helpful, responsive and paid attention to the little details. They also provided a suite for the bridal party to get ready which was beautiful and spacious as well as a space for the groomsmen.
As I write this review, I am in my room after
my daughters wedding/reception at this
hotel. We booked it a year ago and as of
last week, we still did not know what our
total cost was going to be. It was very hard
to ever get a hold of the events planner,
and apparently Hilton does not need
money because my husband tried for
months to get a total cost and make
payments. Still never heard from anyone
and so ended up having to pay over
$20,000 in one payment the day before the
wedding. At the reception, the food tasted
nothing like what we had at our tasting.
Everything had very little flavor and was
similar to hospital food. Once everyone left
the reception to go outside to do the bride
and groom send off, our wedding planner
started taking down all the beautiful
flowers that my husband and I spent
$8000 on. We hated all of the huge,
beautiful centerpieces to go to waste so
we allowed guests to take home loose flowers that were laying on the tables. All
of the bridesmaids bouquets were put at
the back of the room with all of the other
items we were taking home. When returned about 10 minutes later my friend
said that all of the workers who were
breaking down the room, went over and
took several of the bouquets. She tried to
chase them down a hallway to ask them to
return them but they did not. All that was
left was the brides bouquet. I headed to
the front desk to inform them that several
workers at the hotel stole the bouquets,
and I happened upon a security guard
employed by the hotel. I let him know what
happened and asked him to please go find
them and ask them to return our flowers.
He came back and told me that we said
they could have them. I was stunned and
said that was not the case. He refused to
do anything else. I was so angry and ask
why he was not doing his job snd he
literally raised his voice to me and said
"I've been too busy dealing with your drunk guests"! Which is a lie. I was completely appalled and said that I was going to get my husband to talk to him and he proceeded to tell me that he would "clean my husband's breaks and anyone else that had a problem with him"! I was so in shock and stunned! I went back to the ballroom to get my daughters bouquet which was the only one that hadn't been taken, and in those few moments it was also stolen! So l headed back to the front desk to tell the 2
gentleman(I use that term loosely!)
working that they had gone back and stole
the only remaining bouquet and they just
looked at me and said nothing at all! My husband tried to get them to do something about it and one of them proceeded to laugh at him and my daughter who by now was in tears. Then the security guard comes up and tells my husband that he called the police because he felt threatened by me! FYI I'm 4'11" and 120 lbs! I was so upset that I just went back to my room while my husband waited for the police that were called because I was so threatening! Of course they didn't believe shit the security guard said, not to mention several of our guests were police officers and FBI personnel. I am absolutely at a loss for words at the horrible way that we were treated at this establishment that we had just spent over $25,000 at not including the mass amount of rooms that we and other guests paid for.
This night has been a total nightmare and
the memories of the best day of my
daughters life have been completely
tainted by the horrible treatment from staff towards our family and friends.
Perfect! Special thank you to Jason Thompson and the incredible staff for making our wedding weekend so fun, special, and amazing. Our reception was everything we dreamed of and more. We cannot thank you all enough! We will definitely be back!!
I was always having my reception at the Campbell house but had to move my ceremony to them last minute. They were able to create my perfect day and flip the room during cocktail hour! I loved how responsive & accommodating they were!
My daughter's wedding took place the Saturday after Thanksgiving, 2013. There were many complications that needed to be addressed. (out of state bridesmaids, family and guests; a large group of AA guests; children; enough space in the Atrium; sound for the ceremony in the Atrium, etc.) Heather was incredibly patient and helpful. She was a delight to work with and my salvation during periods of stress. Her calming demeanor helped all of us to truly enjoy the experience. I am a control freak and yet I had a wonderful time at the wedding and danced the night away. My daughter said she never felt so much love. Others commented that it was a classy wedding and they never had so much fun! I highly recommend Heather Shoemaker and the Campbell House as the perfect venue for a wedding!
What an unbelievable experience this was! We were so happy to have worked with Heather Shoemaker and the staff at the Campbell House. Not to mention, the venue alone was gorgeous. I cannot put into words how thankful we are for Heather’s help with everything. She literally took stress away each day the wedding day grew closer. We couldn’t have asked for better customer service and will highly recommend her and the Campbell House in the future!
Heather, your calm and gentle nature was such a blessing. This job couldn’t be a better fit for you! In the midst of a pretty stressful rehearsal, you handled yourself and our families very professionally. I want you to know personally, that among our families, you received lots of positive comments… even after the wedding! My dad is still going on about how impressed he was with you!
It was nice having all of my guests in one place and we got a great group rate!
We planned our wedding reception from 9 hours away and with the help of the staff, it went off without a hitch. The food was wonderful, the staff was very courteous and helpful. I didn't have a single complaint throughout the entire experience.
Highly recommended.
We had our wedding and reception here and we could not have picked a better place. The coordinator Heather was great to work with she is friendly and helpful and was always available when I needed her. The ceremony was by the pool and was perfect!!! The reception was in the ballroom and was just exactly what we wanted. Heather was on top of everything during both the ceremony and reception all we had to do was have a great time. Our package included food and a suie the night of the wedding. The food was all wonderful. Our suite was gorgeous!! I had my perfect wedding thanks to Crowne Plaza Lexington - The Campbell House.
I had my reception here. It was a very pleasant experience. They supplied just about everything I needed, which made it more affordable. The only thing I had to do on my own for the reception site was bring in my own flowers and stage decorations and more unique centerpieces ( although we did use the pretty candle hurricanes they supply on some of the tables). However, they let me choose tablecloth and napkin colors, and they supplied tables, linens, dishes, food warmers, a dance floor, chairs, etc. They also offer catering contracts, and the food was delicious. Everything went smoothly on the actual day.. They set everything up in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend this venue.
While we had a room mixup when we first checked in, it was quickly resolved and the manager was nice enough to comp us for the night's stay due to our trouble. Fantastic staff and service! I will definitely go back and highly recommend!
I was very excited for our wedding night, and we decided to stay at this Crowne Plaza due to the proximity to the airport. We were upgraded to a king suite on the first floor on our arrival, but my husband and I hardly got any sleep due to the patrons of the bar that took smoke breaks outside of our window all through the night.
The Crowne Plaza is a beautiful location for any reception or event. We worked one on one with the Wedding Coordinator to create menus that were within our budget and they tasted amazing. Definitely recommend the scalloped potatoes! We only had one minor glitch when they were switching ownership but we were able to sign a new contract wihtout any changes in our budget or overall plan. The wedding coordinator will work with you through every detail to ensure you have the gorgeous wedding of your dreams.
First Time Wedding Planner:
Wow, the reception was a success. The reception that we had for my daughter and husband at the Crowne Plaza Campble House was awsome. The food and service was great. The staff catered to our every need and was so friendly. Til this day guest are still talking about it. You have to see the big ballroom, it is so beatiful and elegrant. On the day of the reception it was breath taken. If I had to plan another reception this Hotel would be my first choice. Heather, the hotel planner was wonderful, couldnt have done it without her and the staff. The rooms that my guest stayedl in was very clean. Thank you Crowne Plaza for going beyond my expectations.
My husband and I chose the Crowne Plaza as the venue for (1) Our hotel block
(2) our rehearsal dinner (3) a out of town, pre-wedding reception.
The associates at the Campbell House were very attentive to our needs and wishes. The spaces were perfect for our size, and great for our guests. They worked with our budget, which was respectable.
There are a couple of reasons I only chose 4 stars:
- The temperature in the room for our rehearsal dinner was way too hot.
- Several times, it took multiple attempts on my behalf to reach their sales associates. I felt they should have been much more prompt in calling me back. We were sending them thousands of dollars in business :)
Day of was good, but the service from hotel was not. My wedding had 600 guest and 50 room nights. At my rewith reception the catering manager asked us if we wanted a drink. We said yes. We later find out that she charged our credit card for 2 drinks!
They were also horribale at returnig phone calls. We had to call several times in order to get our questions answered.
We also did not have a good experience with having a room blocks reserved for our guest.
My reception was amazing! The Crowne Plaza staff was extremely helpful every step of the way from the first day to the night of the event. The food was superb. Everyone is still talking about the reception months later! If I had it to do all over again, I would go back to the Crowne Plaza.
