About this vendor
Stainless steel and glass railings surround the rooftop, allowing for a unobstructed view. IPAY flooring gave a nautical feel to the decking that encompasses the entire rooftop. And unique to Washington is our retractable awning that covers over 2,100 sq. feet of the rooftop. This area has removable clear side panels that can be opened as needed. This space also has heating and air-conditioning that allows it to be used year round for events. As we say, our Plan B for weather is always in place on The Capitol View on 400. The enclosed space can accommodate 200 guests for a seated dinner, or 300 for a cocktail reception. The total guest capacity on the rooftop is 470. In addition there is also a lower terrace available for receptions or dinners that can accommodate up to 300 guests.

We can not recommend the Capitol View and Delmy enough! We had an absolutely wonderful experience for our May 2024 wedding.
When we were deciding on venues, we wanted something that said "DC" and this fit the bill! For cocktail hour, there are views of the Washington Monument. For the reception, there are views of Union Station and the showstopper - the US Capitol (ideal for family photos). You can decorate as much (or as little) as you want - it is a blank slate.
It is a rooftop venue with a permanent roof. Unfortunately for us, we had to use the rain (really, drizzle) plan, but it did not impact us or our guests - we still had a fantastic time! In our case, we used the clear "tarps" and moved the cocktail hour to the area outside of the reception.
Delmy is wonderful - we took most of her vendor suggestions (catering, coordination, flowers) and were very happy! You can not put a price on vendors that know each other - it makes it MUCH easier on the bride and groom!
We had just under 120 guests and the space was perfect for us - plenty of room for guests, for dancing, and for mingling.
We can not recommend this venue enough!
Capitol View at 400 was such a beautiful venue! Delmy coordinates the wedding and is fabulous. We had some unpredictable problems the day of the wedding (e.g. a freak flash thunderstorm) and Delmy made sure that everything went super smoothly. The venue itself is beautiful and has great views. Everyone spent the night taking pictures. The venue was also very affordable compared to similar venues. We didn't need very many decorations because the view is so beautiful and Delmy helped us to coordinate a vendor to decorate for us at a very affordable rate. I also loved the flagpole. Would highly recommend Capitol View at 400 and Delmy for any event or wedding!
When booking this venue you think you are simply reserving a location that has great views and flexible spacing options in downtown DC - BUT, the real reason to book this venue is to work with the incomparable DELMY PALMER, the venue coordinator, (also referred to as Queen Delmy by my husband and I). From the first email we sent to Delmy about seeing the space to the final pickup of materials post wedding, this woman made all the efforts and trials of planning a wedding so incredibly worth it. We did not need a wedding planner because Delmy had everything covered and under control. She is incredibly experienced with event planning and customer service and it really shows. When it comes to the actual venue, if you want a DC wedding ANY time of year, this is the place to have it. The tent has AC and heat and can be dressed up or down depending on your preferences. The view itself is one of the most spectacular in the district. Your guests will be talking about it for weeks after and your pictures will be unbelievable.
We had 162 family and friends join us for our wedding here in October! DC is home for us, and they could see why after overlooking one of the most breathtaking views in the city! We can't thank Delmy and her team enough for making the event perfect, and the ease of communication for everyday leading up to our big day. Delmy truly has one of the biggest hearts, and made us/ our guests feel so warm and welcomed all the way through.
Delmy.. THANK YOU!
Best,
Sarah & Jon

Book this venue NOW! Not only is the venue spectacular, with views my guests both local and from out of town kept raving about, but the venue coordinator Delmy is the only reason I stayed sane in the months leading up and the day of my wedding. I can’t tell you how many times during the wedding planning process I said, “thank God for Delmy.” She was accommodating and felt like she was on our side taking care of us every step of the way. The venue itself overlooks the Capitol building, union station, and you can see the Washington monument in the distance. It fit our 140 person seated-dinner wedding exceptionally well, with plenty of space for a large dance floor (my big concern) and still have space around the outside to take in the views and get photos. Thank you CV400, and most importantly, THANK YOU DELMY!!
Unfortunately this rating comes from an inability to receive a date to even view the venue. We absolutely adored the space from what we saw online. I reached out to the venue the beginning of January and received little correspondence and after confirming a date finally but, not a time , I waited over a month for a time confirmation email that was promised and never came. This was extremely disappointing. I’m not sure why we weren’t valued or given the usual business etiquette or decency many others have in the past from the reviews I read but, I hope that this experience is isolated and not common practice of this venue.
We picked the venue for the view, and it did not disappoint! Delmy and her team were great throughout our planning process, they always had vendor recommendations and quickly answered any questions I had. They worked well with the month-of coordinators we ended up hiring, and with our catering team. It rained on our wedding day, but Delmy and her team made it so we could still enjoy the view on the roof throughout the night. And once they rain let up they opened up the roof so we could enjoy the fresh air and get the inside-outside vibe we wanted. They took care of everything behind the scenes, letting my groom and I relax and enjoy the day!
Amazing venue! The venue is further complimented however by the courtesy, attention, and knowledge of the venue manager, Delmy. She is a pleasure to work with, is very accessible and quick to respond, and really loves all her brides-- and we love her!
Our guests can't stop talking about how amazing our venue was. With the view of the capitol and Union Station, it was a really special, unique feel. Most importantly, Delmy, made the planning process stress-free and fun. From the beginning, we had someone to discuss ideas, answer questions, and anticipate issues before they arise. We would 100% recommend Capitol View.
We couldn’t have imagined a better wedding experience at the Capitol View. Two things in particular stood out as highlights—the memorable space, and working with Delmy Palmer, the venue coordinator. First, the space: even on a rainy and unseasonably cold day, our guests shared unending compliments about the classy and elegant nature of the space. The beautiful views of the Capitol Dome and Union Station from the venue fit with our theme, and also served as a thank you to our guests for traveling to DC to celebrate with us. As for Delmy—she was the perfect planning partner for our wedding: always responsive, understanding, and caring. Even with a few final hurdles (notably the weather) that altered our original plan for cocktail hour, Delmy handled everything perfectly in stride, and helped to ensure the perfect wedding reception. The rest of Delmy’s team was very helpful and professional as well. We are so grateful to the Capitol View and Delmy—we wouldn’t have changed a thing.
