We recently had the pleasure of celebrating our wedding at Spindletop Hall on September 21, 2024, and I can honestly say it was nothing short of magical! From the moment we arrived, I knew we had chosen the perfect historic venue for our special day.
Rebecca, Spindletop's wedding coordinator, was an absolute gem! She was organized, attentive, and incredibly supportive throughout the entire planning process. Her expertise and attention to detail made everything flow seamlessly, allowing us to fully enjoy our day without any stress. Rebecca truly went above and beyond to ensure that our vision came to life.
The venue itself is breathtaking. Spindletop Hall’s stunning architecture and beautiful grounds provided the perfect backdrop for our ceremony and reception. The historic architecture was easily romanticize by the beautiful floral creations we ordered from local florist Roséalia. We loved having our cocktail hour on the veranda surrounded by the picturesque scenery. Guests were raving about the ambiance, and the setting in Roxie’s was just as delightful, making it an unforgettable experience.
The staff at Spindletop Hall were also fantastic. They were friendly, attentive, and always ready to help (shout out to Savannah), ensuring that everything ran smoothly. The food was delicious, and our guests couldn’t stop complimenting the service.
Overall, Spindletop Hall exceeded our expectations in every way. It truly felt like a fairy tale, and I’m so grateful to everyone at the venue for making our wedding day so special. I can’t recommend Spindletop Hall highly enough for anyone looking for a beautiful and elegant wedding venue!

My husband and I had our dream wedding at Spindletop Hall this past week, and it was truly magical! From setup to food service, last-minute adjustments to cleanup, Rebecca and the entire team at Spindletop were incredible. Their experience with weddings of all sizes was evident in the seamless organization and outstanding quality of service throughout the day.
The bridal and groom suites were perfect—spacious, well-lit, and had plenty of mirrors. The distance between them was ideal for keeping us apart before our first look. We also opted to add lunch service for our wedding party, which was a fantastic decision. The food was delicious, and there was more than enough for everyone. A special shout-out to Jordon and Savannah, who checked in on us throughout the day and helped with anything we needed!
The venue itself is breathtaking. While the grounds are stunning, the historic mansion’s architectural details provided an elegant and timeless backdrop for our wedding. We wanted our wedding to feel classic, warm, timeless, and inviting—and Spindletop delivered. The beauty of the venue speaks for itself, meaning minimal decorations were needed to bring our vision to life.
One big perk was the flexibility of both indoor and outdoor spaces, not just for photos but also for the ceremony and reception. Spring weather in Kentucky can be unpredictable—rain, snow, or heat are all possibilities in March. Knowing there was ample indoor space for our approximately 100 guests gave us peace of mind, eliminating the need to budget for a tent. Ultimately, we chose to have an indoor ceremony, as the library at Spindletop felt like the perfect setting for us. However, there are many beautiful options both inside and outside that would make for a stunning ceremony.
We also had a few special requests throughout the day—like keeping guests out of the reception area until dinner and helping me switch my shoes just before walking down the aisle. Every single request was met with a smile, and we truly felt like Rebecca and her team genuinely cared about us and about making our wedding day perfect.
As a true "Type A" person, I had multiple checklists and carefully organized boxes for the wedding, all of which I handed over to Rebecca the day before. Thanks to her and the team, I was able to relax and fully enjoy the day, knowing everything was in expert hands. And if you're more of a "Type B" personality, rest assured, Rebecca’s organization and experience will guide you every step of the way.
My husband and I stuck to a strict budget (eating plenty of peanut butter sandwiches) to save for our dream wedding, and we can confidently say every penny we spent was worth it! The team at Spindletop Hall made our wedding unforgettable, and we are so grateful to them for bringing our vision to life.

Rebecca, Matt, & the staff at Spindletop made our daughter's wedding an absolute dream. Every detail and request we asked for was completed. The plated dinner was served in a timely manner, the food was amazing, the service was top notch, and they were able to flip the Oak Room from ceremony to dinner reception before our hour was finished from the cocktail hour. Our daughter wanted an old-world, classy, barouqe-feel wedding and Spindletop certainly granted her all of her wishes.

Spindletop is great and incredibly beautiful. The wait staff was awesome and they did a wonderful job with our food and drinks.
The “wedding coordinator”, Rebecca, is where they fall short. I may have been naive in thinking that the advertised full wedding coordinator included in the wedding package would be sufficient for my day-of needs, but she let us down in multiple regards.
During the early planning process, many of my emails went unanswered for days. And when they were answered, responses were bare-minimum and incomplete. We had to re-explain our vision for the day every time we talked to her and she seemed unprofessional and unwilling to give us basic information unless we specifically asked about it. I brushed these things off initially, thinking that she has a lot of weddings all year and that once our day arrived, she’d lock in. Unfortunately, I was wrong. On the day of the wedding, I barely saw her. She was either watching her staff decorate everything, or holed up in her office. She barely spoke to me and it was up to me to make sure my other vendors were taken care of/had their questions answered, ensure ceremony chairs were set up properly, and making sure every small detail we’d gone over the day before was handled. She messed up the 30 min before the ceremony and the wedding party ended up walking downstairs as guests were arriving and I was left upstairs by myself for the last 10 minutes before the ceremony. She didn’t fluff my train right before walking into the ceremony despite me specifically asking her to before it was my turn to go down the aisle. We didn’t get all of the food we were promised, despite carefully planning time after the ceremony to eat (they only brought us appetizers). We were also told in the wedding planning guide that we would get sent home with leftovers but all we received afterwards was a piece of our cake and two chocolate sculptures. We never got to try the main foods we carefully selected, which really frustrated me. For the amount of money we paid to get married there, I expected a bit more from Rebecca.
Overall, the venue and wait staff are amazing and they do a great job with the food and drinks. But the coordinator and her role were not as promised and definitely impacted our experience. Our day was amazing because my husband and I (along with our other amazing vendors and friends + family) made it amazing. If I were getting married here again, I would definitely hire an outside day-of coordinator to make sure all the little details I spent so much time planning, actually got executed.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us, Meredith. We are deeply sorr...
y to hear that aspects of your experience did not meet your expectations. Your wedding day is incredibly important, and we strive to provide every couple with exceptional service and attention to detail.
We are disappointed to learn about these concerns for the first time months after your special day in September. During your wedding, multiple managers were present and available to address any concerns or adjustments that might have been needed. If we had been made aware of these issues at the time, we would have been more than willing to assist in resolving them immediately.
We would love the opportunity to speak with you further about your experience and see if there is any way we can make this right. Please feel free to reach out to us directly.
We’re glad to hear you found the venue, wait staff, food, and drinks to be highlights of your day. That means a great deal to us and reflects our commitment to certain aspects of your celebration.
Thank you again for your feedback, as it allows us to grow and improve. We wish you and your husband all the best in this new chapter together.

Spindletop did an amazing job with our wedding! The service is great, food is SO GOOD, and Rebecca and all the staff at Spindletop makes sure your whole day runs smoothly. With some venues, you have to decorate and setup yourself. But Spindletop does that all for you and cleans up afterwards!

When we were looking at venues, Spindletop was an easy decision. My husband spent much of his childhood there and it had everything we wanted for our wedding! Rebecca, our coordinator, was fabulous to work with the whole process and she made the day run so smoothly! It’s in a perfect location and absolutely stunning!

Our wedding day at Spindletop was nothing short of spectacular. From the in room buffet for the bridesmaids, to the plentiful and heavenly passed appetizers during cocktail hour, the food and service was wonderful. The property itself is obviously gorgeous and our pictures are straight out of a fairytale. Our guests delighted in exploring the house when they needed a break from dancing. Amberly made sure our cake toppers, table numbers, etc. made it to their destination and took care of all vendor coordination on our wedding day. I assume she shielded me from any mishaps that may have occurred, since I still haven't heard of any! It was a pleasure working with Amberly and Spindletop every step of the way.

I chose to have my wedding ceremony and reception at Spindletop in April, and it was absolutely one of the best decisions we made. Caitlin, one of the wedding coordinators, was such a dream to work with. She was incredibly punctual in replying to my emails, and was always willing to give guidance or answer any questions I needed. Spindletop Hall has a history that speaks for itself, and the decor is breathtaking and yet not overwhelming. My entire wedding day went so smoothly thanks to Caitlin, Elizabeth, Tyler, and all the other staff at the club. Every staff member was polite and attentive to the guests, and I had multiple people later say how impressed they were with the staff. And last, but certainly not least, the food was incredibly delicious! We were so impressed with the quality and the amount of food we were able to serve our guests. I would recommend this venue over and over again!

If you are looking for a vintage but elegant venue with history and charm, look no further! Spindletop is absolutely gorgeous, from the moment you enter into the property with the tree-lined drive, to the spiral staircase on either side of the foyer; there is nothing to hide and really no need for excessive decorations. My wedding, on 10/01/16, was filled with little details; and the wedding coordinator, Caitlin, was the best at making sure every detail was executed exactly how I wanted it. I highly recommend it -great food, service, & venue.

This is a beautiful, romantic venue. If you are looking for something formal with a vintage feel, this is it. It was absolutely a magical place to get married. I heard so many compliments about the food and the staff. Our wedding coordinator was Allison and she really helped a lot the day-of. When my matron of honor went into labor 15 minutes before the ceremony, Allison didn't miss a beat and changed the processional seamlessly. I highly recommend this venue!

As a Lexington native, I always thought Spindletop would be a lovely place to get married. Now I can say that it truly is. I love it's classic charm and scenic views of neighboring horse farms, and our guests did too. Spindletop has wedding coordinators on staff to handle the details. We had Caitlin Gilliam, who really went above and beyond for us. She was organized and professional throughout the planning process. I really wanted our wedding to be on the back lawn of Spindletop, but it rained most of that day. We had our Plan B all set when, fifteen minutes before the ceremony, the sun came out! Caitlin had the staff rearrange everything so our wedding could be outside and we were able to start right on schedule. Spindletop also has an in house chef and catering staff, which saved us from booking a caterer separately. More importantly, the food was delicious! They even arranged for special fries and chicken finger meals for our youngest guests. I would highly recommend this venue for a wedding and/or reception. As a final note, I will point out that membership in the club is required in order to have your wedding there, but it is affordable and comes with lots of nice perks too.

Before we got married, my boyfriend (now my husband) went to a wedding reception here. The atmosphere was perfect, we both decided:
1. This was the best wedding reception we had attended thus far, and
2. If we ended up getting married, we both wanted to have a wedding reception like this one.
As fate would have it, he proposed, and we started looking at wedding venues. It just so happened that this venue had a date available, so we chose it. In retrospect, we could have definitely saved a lot of money somewhere else, but to us, the money was worth it. Just for the reception, it was more expensive than we thought, but that also included catering through their venue (required), a 4 hour premium bar, a champagne toast, services fees included for the bartenders/waiters, etc., and included access of the bridal/groom suites for getting ready during the day, and included access of the wedding ceremony area outside.
It does not include:
tablecloths and chairs for outside (you can rent them through their vendors), cake (must order yourself), DJ, hair/make-up, photo/video, or set up for outside ceremony (unless it's chair setup).
However, with Spindletop, you also get a personalized day-of-coordinator, and it is also well-worth the cost because of this. We worked with Heather, and because of her, the wedding rehearsal and the day of went smoother than I could have ever imagined. It was a perfect day, ceremony, reception, and everyone complimented us on the atmosphere, and that it was the best wedding they had been to. If I could repeat what we had done, I don't think I would have changed a thing. Well worth it :)

Spindletop Hall is a country club owned by the University of Kentucky. It is an old mansion that is just gorgeous and ritzy on the inside. Heather is the event planner who will help you with anything you need for the wedding day. The food they provide here is out of this world, and definitely worth the money. It is a little pricey, but I had a somewhat small wedding so it wasn't terrible I don't think. Service is great, everyone is so nice and proper.

We were so excited to book Spindletop Hall as our venue. We booked more than one year out, as our band had to be booked far in advance.
When we first booked with Spindletop the event planner was an older lady who was, quite frankly, lacking in any personality and very difficult to get in touch with. Half way through our wedding planning we were notified that this particular employ had been planning to retire for a long time, and they "forgot to notify us sooner." The new event planner, Heather, is great. She is on top of things, detail oriented, friendly, and knows what she is doing. However, the general manager and other staff are not as good as Heather. The second year of our planning the manager tried to raise our prices 11%, even though we signed a contract with the previous year's prices. The wedding contract is terribly written and after having two attorneys review it they agreed that the contract needs some serious revision. After some negotiation we settled on a 5% price increase, which is vaguely addressed in the contract. Additionally, I was told when we booked that our food minimum for the club would be met by our 10k plus wedding reception fees, but then I did receive a bill for 55$ stating we did not meet our minimums. When I emailed the membership employee and the general manager, they did not honor what the membership employee told me when we booked in 2012.
At the reception we gave mini bottles as our favor. I previously cleared this with the event planner, and she said it was fine. I still have the email. Of course, the day after the wedding, many guests pulled me and my family aside to let us know that the wait staff had "confiscated" or "cleared away" many of the bottles. And of course, when I addressed this with the event planner, it was brushed off saying I must have misunderstood.
Overall, there were many little annoyances. However, on the day of, Heather and the wait staff pulled through. I did try to change venues about six months prior to our wedding, but all of the other choices were booked. Again, the day of, minus the favor incident, could not have run smoother; the process leading up to our reception, though, made me wish I would have never booked with Spindletop despite our family memories and connections.

We chose Spindletop because we invited around 200 guests, and there are VERY few venues in Lexington that can accommodate that number. Spindletop is gorgeous, the food was very good, and the servers did an outstanding job. The dinner service went very quickly. (We had a sit down dinner).
