The Edgewater was the perfect Madison venue! Their wedding coordinator, Meghan, was incredibly helpful throughout the entire prep and on the wedding weekend, and whenever we had a question she was available to help us through. I would highly recommend having your wedding here if you can! We had our ceremony outside and reception in the Grand Hall, and everything was perfect.
Meghan is the BEST! She was extremely organized and made everything so smooth. The Edgewater was beyond gorgeous for our ceremony and reception. We can't stop smiling! And the food was beyond.
This was the perfect setting for our March wedding. Meghan and her staff made planning so easy— and the fact that it is already a beautiful setting means you can keep your DIY/delivered decor to a minimum. The food was also fantastic— everyone said it was so great and even the vegetarians were raving about how it was the best veg option they’ve ever had at a wedding. We also stayed in the hotel ourselves and used the room to get ready, making everything in one location and eliminating a lot of stress that can come with traveling between million locations on the day of your wedding.
If you are concerned about pricing, check out their off season pricing because when we booked, it was literally half the price of “in season” pricing— making our dream wedding within reach.
I cannot possibly be happier with our wedding at the Edgewater. We worked tirelessly with Meghan over the last year to plan our perfect wedding. With Covid guest restrictions and other regulations changing monthly, Meghan worked with us to navigate planning - countless emails, phone calls, and meetings. Overall, we held our rehearsal dinner, wedding day, and Sunday morning breakfast all at the Edgewater and each event was seamless and beautiful. The banquet menu food is all AMAZING, guests all raved at the plated meal choices. We used the Sky Bar for rehearsal, the Ballroom for ceremony and reception, and the Nolan Gallery for cocktail hour. I was stress-free and able to enjoy our day to the fullest. Thank you Meghan and the entire Edgewater team!!
Our wedding was in the Sky Bar at the Edgewater - and it was beautiful! Shae was so great to work with, she executed our day perfectly and was so helpful with all the questions I had along the way. The food at the Edgewater was of very high quality - I received lots of compliments! I would absolutely host any event here!
This is the best wedding venue! It was a destination wedding, and Everyone raved about it.
Our ceremony was in the plaza overlooking the lake. The reception was in the beautiful ball room with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the lake. Had it rained, they were well prepared to hold the ceremony in the ballroom overlooking the lake. The food was very good and the service outstanding.
Shae, the event coordinator is friendly, efficient, patient and knowledgeable. Carissa did a great job handling our room block. Ruby, a staff member, was especially friendly, professional and efficient - she was everywhere - serving food and wine and setting up.
This hotel is trendy, comfortable and a great location. We highly recommend having your wedding here.
This could be one of the most beautiful wedding venues in the world. We held the ceremony outdoors on the patio with the bridal party walking down the aisle to stand right in front of Lake Mendota. The ballroom's floor-to-ceiling windows also overlook the lake, making it seem like you are on a cruise ship. The wedding manager, Shae Sepic, is an absolute pleasure to work with. She helped guide us every step of the way and was there to see everything executed to perfection on our wedding night. Food and waitstaff were all outstanding. It was fun to have our drinks and appetizers outside on the patio. The hotel itself is very classy and boutiquey (if that's a word); accommodations are beautiful. Everything was perfect. My highest recommendation!!!
We had an INCREDIBLE time on-site and planning this wedding with Shae. We had a lot of people coming in front out of town and they raved about the city and the hotel. We did have some trouble getting the room block and there were some hitches with room service and things getting taken away in a timely manner, but there were other events taking place on site. The actual reception was unreal and very well taken care of, which is really what a bride and a groom need: to enjoy their wedding day!
If you want an iconic, elegant wedding, the Edgewater Hotel is the place to go. We had our wedding there January 12th, and they exceeded our expectations. Shae, the wedding coordinator, is beyond exceptional. She anticipated issues, and had options to deal with every possible scenario. Staff went above and beyond to make our guests feel welcomed. My brother has a deathly seafood allergies, and everyone watched out for him. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and the lake view rooms are exquisite. We had our entire weekend of events there, including an intimate rehearsal dinner. The food was outstanding. I highly recommend The Edgewater for your special day!
What an amazing experience! Shae is incredible ... very on the ball, SO friendly ... really, everything (and more!!) we could have asked for. The Grand Plaza and Grand Ballroom, of course, are stunning venues and we are still getting compliments on the food. Just avoid the Edgewater Spa if you don’t want a whole lot of extra stress before your wedding.
My husband Josh and I couldn’t have asked for more from the Edgewater! We worked with Shae Sepic from the very start and she was just so beyond on top of her game! She made us feel so special and loved in the days leading up and on our big day. Best day ever!!!
Shae and her team at The Edgewater were absolutely incredible. They were so easy to work with and helped us at every step of the planning process. Day of the wedding I didn't have to be concerned about a single thing because I knew they had everything covered! I cannot recommend The Edgewater to anyone looking for a wedding venue in Madison enough! The location on the water is gorgeous, the service is spectacular, and the food was to die for. I still have family and friends letting me know how much they enjoyed the party!
We had a lot of reasons to choose the Edgewater for our wedding - and so do you. Spectacular lake views, a wide variety of event spaces to fit any size or style of wedding from intimate to grand, the best hotel rooms in town, and five-star quality food. You can determine all this just by being a casual visitor to The Edgewater. What you probably don't know yet is that they have a wedding and event staff that will make all of this easy for you and attend to your every need/desire.
We worked with several people there including Shae to plan our event over time. Most impressive to me was that they never substituted their judgment for our vision but rather consistently met the needs of what it would take to accomplish what we envisioned. Our event was challenging for them utilizing three distinct spaces (probably more) at The Edgewater but that didn't even make them flinch.
When the champagne bottles were upside down and all the guests were gone the reviews were uniformly positive - great food, great service and a great time. From the flower being set up to finding all the stray items neatly tucked away for us the next day, The Edgewater exceeded expectations. Highly recommended.
The Edgewater was the perfect venue for my ceremony and reception - without a doubt, it's one of the best (if not the best!) wedding venues in the Madison, WI area.
The Edgewater is absolutely stunning and elegant, but just as importantly - the staff is excellent: incredibly professional and accommodating. The entire process - from planning through the event itself - was seamless, in large part thanks to Shae, our wedding coordinator at The Edgewater. She is AMAZING at her job. I felt comfortable not having a wedding planner because she's so on top of everything and so incredibly helpful.
All in all, we had a wonderful experience with The Edgewater - I can't recommend the venue highly enough!
Edgewater is probably one of the most beautiful venues in Wisconsin and the staff did a beautiful job making preparing for the day a breeze. The food is great, too, and if you can lodge at the hotel too, you're in great luck. It has a perfectly central location in downtown Madison and you can't beat it.
Thank you to the staff at Edgewater, and for those who created the revamped version of the hotel itself, for making our day forever memorable!
Shae was great to work with. We got married on a non-standard Wednesday night and she helped us pull everything together, which was a bit of a challenge for us as we were arranging it from our home in North Carolina. The Sky Bar was a beautiful location for the wedding and reception and we got lots of compliments from our guests.
Shae was so great to work with, she really made sure my wedding day was flawless. I also love the layout of The Edgewater over other venues in Madison because you can host your ceremony outside/in the grand ballroom and then walk a few steps to the cocktail hour and reception.
Our daughter had her reception in October of 2017 at The Edgewater Hotel. The service, the food the attention to detail was way beyond our expectations. They hit it out of the ballpark. An exceptional venue.
We hosted our wedding reception at the Edgewater and were very happy with the end result! Shae Sepic was absolutely amazing to work with and made planning our big day so much easier. Countless guests told us how much they loved the venue, which includes beautiful waterfront views for photos. The food at our reception was also wonderful and they were able to accommodate serious dietary restrictions, which allowed ALL of our guests to have a pleasant (and safe) experience. Overall, we were very happy and so were our guests.
Our daughter was married on June 18, 2016, after which we hosted the reception at The Edgewater. The weekend was, quite honestly, magical. I can think of no better venue at which to celebrate the union of my lovely daughter to a fine young man.
The Edgewater has a storied history and the elegant Art Deco style of the Great Gatsby. It has all of the essential elements for a lovely reception. The location on the water is spectacular, with a beautiful outdoor terrace just outside the floor to ceiling windows in the ballroom. On a beautiful evening, the sunset over the lake is stunning, and a perfect spot for breathtaking photographs.
The Edgewater really has it all…the ballroom was beautiful; our meal was amazing and matched by the incredible service. Our meal was a choice of filet, chicken or salmon, all of which were served hot and delicious. We received many compliments on the meal, particularly on the incredible filet mignon. The service also merits comment. There were more servers than I have seen before at this type of event and a large group of them would descend upon a table, wait until everyone was positioned, and then serve everyone at the table simultaneously. It was a nice touch.
All of the staff were kind, polite and flexible. The valet and bell men deserve particular mention, they even arranged parking for “Uncle Eddie” the bride’s uncle, who pulled up to this elegant hotel in a RV! No, he didn’t stay in the RV, nor did he stand outside in his bathrobe and empty the waste into the sewer.
The biggest reason, however, to choose The Edgewater for your reception is Michael Stapleton. Michael is the Wedding Coordinator and is incredible. He is experienced, organized and enthusiastic. Every time we would meet with him, all of us, particularly the bride, left with a sense of calm and reassurance that everything was going to occur as planned and, if the inevitable glitch occurred, Michael could, and would, solve it.
In summary, The Edgewater is clearly a 5 star venue, everything aspect of it is perfect. There can be no finer venue in Dane County!
It was great having everything in one place. Nails, hair, photos, ceremony, reception, hotel suite. The hotel is elegant and classy but the staff is far from pretentious. The prices were reasonable as well. Something comparable in Chicago would be twice as much. Highly recommend!
Just got married here and had a fantastic wedding...in spite of the poorly managed venue. In the 10 months between when we committed to this venue and the event, the Edgewater cycled through 4 different wedding coordinators...none left in a professional way and each time there was a change we learned about it after the fact and had to start the planning anew. The first two were utterly incompetent, the third was there so briefly that I can't really say, and although the fourth was good, he was not able to pull it together with the lack of/inaccurate notes and work of his predecessors and without any support staff. We also understand that he has another role at the venue but was pinch hitting because they were hemorrhaging wedding staffers.
The food at the wedding was a disaster. Big surprise since the tastings were delicious. To the chef's credit the steak entree was great but the vegetarian entree was inedible - plain, strangely cooked pasta with absolutely nothing on it. I'm told it tasted like cardboard -- nothing like the tasting which was a delicious linguini in a creamy truffle sauce cooked. It's very stressful and embarrassing to have 30 guests served something so bad... especially after the venue botched the hors d'oeuvres (where were they?) and we were all starving. There were a number of other problems with the logistics at dinner...due to poorly trained and managed staff, except for the barstaff which was very good.
A few very good things about this venue: the space, design, and location are stunning. The Spa is fantastic! It's the only part of the place that is run well and has competent staff. The wedding coordinator did a great job managing our ceremony. Everyone who worked there was very friendly and attentive (but unfortunately incompetent).
I give three stars because the location is so great and the venue has so much potential. I believe its problems lie in the very upper management/executive level. If you choose this venue, our advice is to hire your own wedding planner/coordinator and to get a commitment that the wedding coordinator/point person employed by the Edgewater will stay for the entire event.
Our food was amazing and cooked perfectly.
The service was outstanding and very accommodating.
I was very happy with the overall quality of the evening.
Its an older hotel, but they are considering updates in the near future.
Everyone at the Edgewater was great, they did a awesome job making us feel comfortable on our wedding day. There set up staff was very helpful and worked with us to get everything decorated and done, The price was the best in madison as far as hotels go, and I would recommend anyone to be able to have there ceremony and reception at there location.
The lakeside and downtown location.;I thought the replies I received from the event coordinator via email were sometimes below my expectations in terms of helpfulness.
