Front desk staff were rude to myself and my guests, they gave away our honeymoon suite the night before our wedding so we had to make other arrangements and my guest's rooms weren't ready for them to get ready for the wedding. The kitchen staff also closed the kitchen and forgot to feed one of my tables. They told us we would get a partial refund but the staff is replaced what feels like monthly so we never got that money back. The only thing they did was give us a free bottle at brunch the next day.
I also didn't appreciate that they called me about guests not checking out of their rooms like I was responsible for check outs, isn't that their job? Those guests were already on flights back home so they were trying to charge them for a late check out when they had left the hotel hours ago. This place is great for a spring break party but please don't trust them with your wedding.
Eva and everyone else we worked with at the Godfrey was amazing! She was patient with all of my questions and is clearly passionate about what she does. She very quickly responded to all my emails and just all around went above and beyond. Thank you, Eva, for helping make our day so special!
The Godfrey was the best location we could have picked for our ceremony. We did a rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and post-wedding brunch here and everything was absolutely perfect. Even though we were a small event, The Godfrey made sure that everything was beautiful and perfect for us. From views and decor to service, we could not have picked a better location for our wedding and our out-of-town guests. Samm was very helpful in the planning stages of our wedding and was sure to give us all of the many options that The Godfrey offers for our wedding weekend. She was even able to set up a last minute rehearsal dinner for us after we had a change in plans and you absolutely could not tell it was last minute! In addition to the good food and views, the photos that we were able to get at spaces around the hotel were AMAZING. Highly recommend!
I booked the Godfrey as my venue for my wedding and rehearsal dinner. Madison and Samm were both very helpful and very patient with my millions of questions. There were some hiccups with planning towards the end since Madison left the company and I had to work with Samm to re-explain a lot of things. But Samm was very nice and helpful and got up to speed very quickly (this happened a month before the wedding). There were also some problems scheduling the rehearsal with a last minute plan change, but ultimately everything did work out pretty well. The venue is beautiful, the staff is friendly. The banquet team was also super nice and went above and beyond to make sure we could still setup the night before (since we had some custom items we made). We also stayed at the hotel the night of the rehearsal and the night of the wedding and it was pretty nice. Like all weddings, not everything turned out as planned but none of my guests knew that, only me since I planned it. Everyone had a good time and complemented the location and how the staff interacted with them. The staff also was very responsive to rapid changes, such as it starting to rain at the beginning of cocktail hour. Overall a very good experience.
The Godfrey is the perfect place for your wedding! It was amazing to have our (just us) ceremony on the pier and have our own private dinner at sunset. Whether you are having 500+ guests or just you 2, you won't be disappointed!
The Godfrey is a gorgeous local venue for a wedding in Tampa Bay! The pier over the water at the Godfrey was the setting for our wedding a few days ago and the level of professionalism and service the staff provided made us a very happy couple! Madison is the wedding specialist for The Godfrey and she was highly accessible and responsive to my many questions and requests. The banquet staff, headed by the fabulous Georgie went above and beyond to ensure our every need was met on our special day. I highly recommend The Godfrey for a wedding venue...we received compliments for all of our guest.
We had our wedding at The Godfrey in November and it was perfect! We had our cocktail hour on the pier which was beautiful! The reception room was the perfect size and overlooked the water. Huge thanks to Madison who was a pleasure to work with and made our night run so smoothly. Also, the food was amazing and we got many compliments from the guests about how good it was!
We got married at The Godfrey in March of 2019. I would highly recommend this venue for a small-medium wedding. Madison was amazing, the views are fantastic, and everything can be done in one place (get ready, ceremony, reception, after-party). Madison ensured that we had everything we wanted/needed for our day and was always prompt in responding to any questions. Chef Joe made sure the food was on point. So delicious. The servers made sure there was always a drink in our hand. It was all around a fantastic experience!
Let me start off by saying that we originally booked our wedding through the Doubletree Suites by Hilton at Rocky point one year in advance of our wedding date (approximately 120 guests, most of whom were traveling from out of town). Approximately 11 days before our wedding we received a phone call from the Doubletree that they could no longer host our wedding in their reception tent given issues with their inspection. We were absolutely devastated s our dream wedding was falling apart with less than two weeks to go. We started reaching out to other venues that fit our dream wedding criteria (outside ceremony and waterfront reception) and fortunately the Godfrey hotel and Cabanas was able to graciously make room for our event even with the last minutes notice. Not only did the Godfrey take on our wedding last minute but our venue contact, Madison Downs, did everything she could to make sure our big day was everything that we had dreamed of and for that I am truly thankful. We ended up having our ceremony on their pier overlooking the water and it was absolutely gorgeous, better than I could have ever imagined. For the reception, they closed off their entire restaurant so they could host our reception in an area that had water views. I could not be more pleased with how everything turned out. All in all, our wedding ended up being so much better than we could have ever imagined and we owe it all to the Godfrey staff. With 11 days they were able to get 30+ guest rooms switched from our first venue into their hotel, provide a layout of our reception area, replicate all of the food and apps that we originally picked out and more. I highly recommend using this venue. Their pier ceremony and waterside reception areas are stunning and the staff was fantastic to work with. In addition, I was extremely impressed with the timeliness of their communication given how many questions we threw at them as we were planning a full blown wedding with them with less than two weeks to go!
If you are looking for a venue with amazing water views and spectacular food, then I highly recommend the Godfrey hotel in Tampa. My daughter’s wedding was held at The Godfrey Hotel in Tampa. We found out 10 days prior to the wedding date that our original venue would not be able to host our event. In a panic we called the Godfrey hotel and even though their ballroom was in use, they let us use their WTR Pool & Grill restaurant for the reception which was perfect for the beach themed wedding we had planned. The wedding was held on the pier over the water and it was absolutely beautiful. As soon as the ceremony was over and we walked off the pier, we were greeted by servers offering beer and wine. The appetizer trays were setup on the patio. The appetizers were amazing. The trays of fresh fruit and vegetables and meat/cheeses were delicious and beautifully arranged with flowers on them. The dinner entrees were absolutely delicious. Our guests all commented on how good the food was. We were very impressed with everything at the Godfrey hotel. We had 35 rooms booked there with out of town wedding guests and everyone was very happy with the rooms as well. We worked with Madison Downs to coordinate all the wedding and reception arrangements. I would like to thank Madison and The Godfrey Hotel for making my daughter’s wedding absolutely spectacular!!
If you are looking for an intimate venue on the water for you and your guests then Godfrey Hotel in Tampa is the one! 90% of my guests are from out of town coming from Ca, NYC, London, etc and I wanted a perfect, fun, and convenient location that was on the water with a sunset view. I also wanted a hotel where it would fit everyone's budgets and where they did not have to rent a car to get to hotel or wedding venue. I was debating whether to hire a wedding planner but as I worked with Victoria and her crew/staff from hotel I was convinced I did not need one. Victoria was so helpful and her banquet manager Joanne was exceptionally helpful in every way possible. Joanne and her staff were detailed in the set up of the reception room and was perfect in how we wanted the layout. They were so nice and let me use another room to store all my wedding centerpieces and flowers in addition to providing a bridal suite! The bridal suite was gorgeous too as it overlooked the water. The food was amazing from the hor dourves to the entrée selection such as the rib eye steak and grouper. They are very generous with their entrée where every guest was full and the steak was all med rare! I have been to many weddings where the steak is either med or well done. Chef Joe did a fantastic job overseeing that every plate that went out was first class. The ceremony overlooking the pier was breathtaking and if you want to get married with the sunset as a backdrop in addition to the water view you definitely need to look at the Godfrey. I looked at other venues on the water especially in St Pete and we are so happy that we went with the Godfrey. I wasn't crazy about the idea of wearing a beautiful gown with no shoes on the beach. The Godfrey has a pier that is perfect for brides who want to wear heels but have the water as a background. The hotel was super accommodating too with my husband and I and all my guests. Victoria took care of all my guests reservations and made sure that they were taken care of. In addition the hotel spoils the bride and groom. We did a full wedding weekend at the Godfrey and their Sunday after party was a lot of fun where my husband, guests, and myself got to relax at the new cabanas and enjoyed bottles and food. As I mentioned my guests are from major cities and the Godfrey had a little of everything for all my guests from adults to kids. I would definitely recommend them as a destination venue and of course anyone who wants a wedding on the water.
