The Good House

We had our wedding weekend at The Good House, using their 3-night wedding package, and we were blown away. We worked closely with Marti, their event manager, for months leading up to the event to plan our special weekend. She was super responsive, detail oriented, and accommodating to help design an event that was totally tailored to us. We had family stay at the new VIP House and other guests stayed at The Good House and The Spring next door. It accommodated about 50 guests, which was perfect for the experience we wanted to create. We had all of our meals provided by The Good House as well. Van and his team’s ability to make a delicious dish with so much heart 50 times over was so impressive. The experience we got at The Good House was exactly what we were looking for - we wanted to feel like we were in a cozy backyard that could accommodate a pool party, a jazz night, and a party dance floor. We started the weekend on Thursday night with a welcome dinner - we had the pasta buffet so people could enjoy a hot meal as they arrived. Many people went back for seconds - especially for the cookie bar (that was a crowd-pleaser). On Friday, we started with a breakfast buffet, where my brother-in-law (known for making delicious pancakes) raved about Van’s pancakes and begged him for the recipe. We then transitioned to a pool party that lasted the rest of the day. The Good House provided ice and ice chests for all our drinks and snacks. The space was perfect for the number of guests we had, and there was so much shade with the trees that the temperature was perfect (even on a hotter-than-usual day in late September). Friday evening we had a sit-down dinner on the yoga lawn with Van’s famous fried chicken, with our bar with specialty cocktails in the gazebo, followed by a jazz band performance by the pool. The vibe The Good House created for us that night was beyond our imagination. Saturday morning, the groom set up TVs around The Good House to watch soccer and football, and the bride brought in a private yoga instructor, Shannon Dixon, who led a beautiful class on the deck in the VIP House’s backyard. The Good House accommodated a separate brunch, which was delicious and beautifully presented. They helped set up the chairs for our ceremony, bartended the open bar, and set up two cocktails and snacks in a private room for us to enjoy immediately after the ceremony - all placed on a custom cutting board with our names and wedding date engraved. We held a cocktail hour with passed appetizers around the pool while we listened to speeches, then transitioned to a delicious taco buffet dinner - our favorite meal of the weekend. After dinner, our DJ (set up in the gazebo) got everyone on the dance floor, placed in the grass by the gazebo. We danced for hours under the stars and ended the night with most of the guests (and even The Good House staff!) jumping into the pool in our wedding attire. They also accommodated a grab and go breakfast for the next morning so that folks could eat before their flights. It was the most magical weekend of our lives - and exceeded our expectations ten-fold. We couldn’t be more grateful for The Good House owner, Brian, the event manager, Marti, the chef, Van, and his team, and the rest of The Good House staff who made our time there seamless, relaxing, memorable, and totally tailored to us.
