I cannot say enough good things about The Herrington! Our wedding experience from finding the venue to our wedding day was phenomenal. Geneva is such a nice town, our guests were able to stay at The Herrington and walk around downtown and check out the local spots. Not only is the Herrington a stunning setting with the courtyard ceremony looking right onto the water, but the plaza patio for cocktail hour and the reception space have so much character. The space here is perfect for both outdoor and indoor options, but the outdoor areas were perfect for us! We were lucky enough to do our entire wedding here (ceremony and reception) and it was perfect for our guest count, right around 100 people. I could not imagine what I would have done if we didn't have Deanne and Racquel on the wedding day, and every day leading up to our wedding. They were absolutely amazing from start to finish - so accommodating, professional and kind. I was a bride that visited the venue countless times and they always were happy to see us and answered all of my questions. They do anything and everything to make sure you are happy and the wedding goes smoothly. The staff here is also amazing. They serve the food with a white glove service and make sure you and your guests are happy all night long! The food here is amazing, our guests raved about it. Some wedding food is hit or miss, but all food here is top notch quality - the Hors d'oeuvres, soup, salad and main entrees all were delicious. I truly cannot say enough good things about this as our wedding venue and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested. 10 out of 10 experience all around! We had such a great experience, we said we wanted to do it all over again :)
The event staff at the Herrington is amazing and made all of our dreams come true without any stress on us! It was like having an event coordinator and they are life savers! All of our guests had an amazing time, raving about the venue, views and the food. I can't recommend the Herrington enough!
The only hiccups we had were the hotel staff (They gave me grief about asking for makeup chairs until they found out I was having my wedding there, after which they were very accommodating. They also cost me 15 minutes with my photographer by sending him to a different bride's room who wasn't even getting married at the venue) and we had provided bubbles that were never put on the ceremony chairs as promised. But these were very minor things in the grand scheme of the day!

We had the most beautiful wedding at The Herrington and were so pleased with Deanne, Racquel, and event staff! They communicated so well from the day we booked and throughout our wedding day!They took care of all the details flawlessly! The venue was very good about accommodating food allergies and intolerances as well as suggesting ways to help us meet the venue’s minimum. The food and drinks were excellent and our guests are still raving! Highly recommend this venue!
4/5 is for hotel service as there were no mini-fridges in any room and no alternatives other than small ice buckets that didn’t fit much. We also didn’t have access to the mini-bar in rooms and staff were inconsistent about when this would be available. The rooms were also very cold and the thermostats did not consistently work, so some guests were either very hot (on an already hot weekend) or very cold. Staff did fix the thermostats but I would have expected more from a premier inn and wedding venue when it comes to hotel staff hosting a wedding. Overall we loved getting married here and these small issues didn’t take away from our day, just things to be aware of when planning!
I can not begin to say how exceptional The Herrington was for my wedding! It has a gorgeous outdoor courtyard right next to the river. It was so easy for our wedding guests to flow right over to the beautiful outdoor patio outside along the river for cocktails . For the reception, I received so many compliments for the delicious food was. The soup, the salad, the Filet Mignon and salmon was all made just right. The banquet managers Deanne, Raquel, Rose, were beyond amazing. They go above and beyond from morning until night to make sure everything is thought of. Right after the ceremony, I could not get my bustle buttoned correctly. Deanne and Rose pulled me aside and helped me button it up correctly (no easy feat) and for that I am so appreciative. I did not have a wedding planner but I always felt that I was in good hands with Deanne as she helped organize so much of our day. Our friends and family loved staying at the Herrington Inn overnight. It such a charming Inn along the river that we were able to enjoy our breakfast together in a beautiful setting. Loved the Herrington Inn! It will always be a special place for us.
If I could go back and redo anything about wedding planning, it would be wasting my time looking at any venue other than the Herrington Inn & Spa. Nothing compares. The quaint inn on a beautiful river sets the backdrop for the perfect wedding. Every single one of my guests commented that the food was the best food they have ever had at a wedding, and I 100% agree. As a vegetarian, typically wedding food is meh and the vegetarian option is bland pasta, but the Herrington puts as much care and creativity into that as every other meal (ours was arancini as veg and chicken/steak for the meat option). The sides, sweets, and appetizers were all so delicious and elegant. The Herrington went above and beyond making sure every detail, from our signature cocktails to our tent, were taken care of with quality and elegance. And that is because of Deanne, Raquel, and their staff. If there is any reason beyond those already mentioned to have your wedding at the Herrington, its Deanne. From the first meeting, we felt so comfortable with her and Raquel and they kicked it up a whole bunch on our actual wedding day. With over 20 years experience, Deanne and Raquel are unofficial wedding coordinators, helping source and make sure your day goes smoothly before, during, and after. From little things, like making sure flowers were set up at the ceremony and moved to the reception in my vision, to pitching in with family drama to leaving rose petals in our room and searching on their hands and knees and finding a ring that was very important to me that I lost while getting ready. At one point in the evening, I switched from pinching wedding shoes to flip flops, leaving my shoes at the sweethearts table. When we got to the room that night, my shoes were waiting inside by the door. I cannot say enough good things about Deanne and Raquel, they felt like family, no ask was too big or obscure, you can tell and feel that they want your wedding to be perfect and will move mountains for you so that it is. Thank you Deanne, Raquel, and the whole Herrington Inn staff, I would 10/10 recommend anyone have their wedding at the Herrington.
We were elated to host our wedding ceremony and reception at the Herrington. The elegant atmosphere and impeccable cuisine helped make our special day unforgettable. Our guests raved about the beautiful views, the top notch service, and delicious food. The care and attention to detail by Deanne and Racquel along with their staff is unsurpassed. The best ever!!
The venue is very nice. However, their reception capacity is NOT 150-170... This is only in a very specific configuration with the dance floor akwardly upstairs and the tables cramped together on the first floor (170 capacity with 20 people also seated upstairs away from the rest). Comfortably fits maybe 100-120 max.
Where to even begin! Our wedding at The Herrington was truly a dream come true. Not only is the venue itself one-of-a-kind (hello European romance) but Deanne, Racquel, Rose, and the whole staff went out of their way to make sure everything was beyond perfect. Our guests kept raving about the food, bar, and service, and those that stayed at The Herrington loved it so much. It was a perfect little city escape for friends and family who live in Chicago, and for those traveling from out of state it was easy to get to from O'Hare and Midway. We stayed for 3 nights and I wish we would have stayed longer! The room suites are perfect for girls getting ready, and Deanne and Racquel had amazing recommendations for vendors. I could go on and on - I truly wouldn't have changed a thing!
Love at first sight! From the moment we walked into the Herrington, we knew this was our place. The spirit, the ambiance, the charm ; this is the place for you if you are looking for class with a touch of cozy. From the old world charm, classic character, leaded glass doors, beautiful landscape, and the river views, you must experience the Herrington and capture the personalized feel! Rose and Deanne are absolutely AMAZING! If the scenery doesn't capture you at first sight, they will! Throughout your journey you will feel as though you are number one and that their goal is to make your day the best day ever! Not only were they able to handle two brides, but also able to accommodate everything we had for our dream wedding down to the last detail (and there were many to say the least)! The food is phenomenal from start to finish and beyond spectacular with the white glove paraded dinner. It will be a challenge to choose your menu, it is all beyond fabulous. We were married on 9.15.19 and continue to hear from our guests that this was the best wedding they have ever attended. Thank you to Deanne, Rose, Raquel, Hal, Stephanie, Angel, Michael, Jona, and so many more that have made our day with their smile and individual attention every time we go back. We got married at the Herrington Inn on Sept 20, 2019. Our ceremony was small, only 65 people. We had an amazing time from beginning to end. Before the wedding we were working closely with Deanne and Racquel who were very responsive, and made our day happen exactly how we expected - or even better. Our guests were amazed by the food and service - really spectacular. The hotel has a great European feel and it is a charming location - we stayed for two nights in a riverfront room with a fireplace and they have the softest robes ever (we bought two to take home). Deanne also helped me to set up a special lunch at the Gazebo, the day before the wedding, and that was such a great experience, right by the river - Deanne's idea. When we got back to our room after the reception, we found champagne and chocolate strawberries waiting for us. Seriously, such a great experience. We loved it and can't wait to stay at the Herrington Inn again. Thank you, Deanne and Racquel - you are great!
I cannot say enough great things about The Herrington Inn & Spa! Not only is the venue gorgeous, but Rose and Deanne were an absolute dream to work with. Rose was my main contact during the planning process, and she was quick to respond to all my questions and concerns. Any ideas or changes I wanted to make, she made possible and worked with me to keep within a reasonable budget. On our wedding day, Deanne and Rose set up all of my ceremony and reception decorations exactly as I wanted and allowed my husband, family and I to relax, get ready and enjoy the day without having to worry about setup. They checked on us throughout the day and night to see if my husband and I needed anything (Deanne even made sure we got drinks and as many appetizers as we wanted after the ceremony). Deanne, Rose and the staff cleaned everything up at the end of the night and placed the gifts in our room as well as all our decorations in their office for my parents to easily pick up the next morning. As if Rose and Deanne weren’t great enough, the food was phenomenal! So many people raved to me about how much they enjoyed their dinner. If you are thinking about hosting your wedding at the Herrington, absolutely do it! They made our wedding day a dream!
We stayed at The Herrington for our 2 year dating anniversary in January 2014. We had an amazing weekend there and in Geneva (cutest town ever!!). Then 3 and a half years later right before we got engaged I had a co-worker who was getting married in Geneva and it caused me to look back up the town and the beautiful inn we had stayed at previously. When we got engaged, we knew The Herrington was the first stop! Seven days after getting engaged we went to look at it and after an hour of talking with Deanne we had our date set (Sept 2018). We had an incredible experience working with Deanne, Rose, Racquel, and everyone else at The Herrington. They were extremely responsive to our emails/questions and they were always available to sit down in person to discuss details. Our wedding day was absolutely incredible and this in large part to Deanne and Rose. We love them and we will continue to go back to visit! Also, not only is the staff amazing and the setting beautiful, but The Herrington has incredible food. Our guests all raved about the appetizers and entrees and we even had platters of the classic Herrington chocolate chip cookies for dessert alongside our cake! Truly cannot say enough good things about this venue, highly reccomend!
y husband and I have been coming here for years as a special treat on our anniversary. So when our daughter was looking for a wedding venue I strongly urged her to check them out as we knew how wonderful our service and experiences have been with the Inn.
On a whim we stopped in so I could show her the facility and stumbled upon Rose who just happened to be there and gladly gave us a tour. Based on her kindness, down to earth sense of humor and honestly alone we would have jumped at the chance to host the reception with the Herrington. From the very first second of this chance meeting our daughter felt like her wedding mattered. And that was just the beginning of what turned out to be the most delightful collaboration.
Rose and Deanne are the dream team of coordinators. They are truly enthusiastic and genuinely nice people to work with. Our daughter always felt like she had people on her side helping her to feel confident that her goals for this special day would be achieved without over spending, or missing out on something needed.
Their attention to, and delight in, the details is professional, courteous and genuine. To be as excited to see your wedding coordinators on the day of your wedding as you are to see good friends and treasured relatives says a lot on the bond these two formed with our daughter.
Thank you thank you thank Herrington, Rose and Deanne. We look forward to singing your praises for a long time to come as well as our own annual visits back to the gem of a place on our own anniversary.
Beautiful, classy, elegant, unforgettable...just a few characteristics to describe this venue. My husband and I just enjoyed our reception there, and we are overjoyed. Deanne and Rose were absolute rockstars. They are so knowledgeable and incredibly helpful, not to mention so fun and friendly. The decorations at Christmas time are breathtaking, creating a truly magical setting. The food...DELICIOUS. Our guests were commenting on the food all night. The bartenders were fantastic and servers were so attentive. The hotel is beautiful. We are so lucky and incredibly happy to have had our reception at this beautiful place!
My husband and I formed a wedding block at the Herrington, and it's where we stayed our wedding night. It is a gorgeous property, very relaxing. We absolutely loved our accommodations, and so did the guests! We only wish we had more time there, and we plan to spend a long weekend the moment we get the chance.
I wish I could give them 6 or 7 stars! I can't say enough good things about The Herrington Inn & Spa. Rose and Deanne were amazing and always made me feel like their only priority even when I stopped by unannounced with questions. They worked with us to make the most of our budget. They set everything up for our reception exactly how I had imagined it, and they repacked everything for us to take home the next day. The space is beautiful, the food was amazing, and our guests loved the night time cookies and milk service in their rooms.
I don't have enough great things to say about The Herrington Inn & Spa! They were nothing but amazing to us and helped make our wedding everything that we hoped it would be. Deanne and Rose were there whenever I had a question, even when I thought it was a silly one. My husband and I felt so much love on our special day and we know these two were a big part of it.
I highly recommend The Herrington Inn & Spa to anyone and everyone. Our guests were blown away by the hospitality and design of this location!

If you have the opportunity to have your wedding at Herrington Inn, take it! Everything about it is fantastic! The "Pumphouse" reception room is simply decorated and beautiful with an upstairs loft area overlooking the main floor, and windows looking over a lovely and spacious patio with a view of the river! The food options they provide are so excellent that it was very hard for us to narrow down our choices at our tasting, which they set up to be a fantastic experience. The inn itself is elegant and beautiful, and our honeymoon suite was absolutely incredible.
We were particularly impressed with the entire staff, both the reception and the hotel. They made us and all of our guests feel like royalty every time we were there. Deanne and Rose, the event coordinators for Herrington, were especially a pleasure to work with from the very start. They made the entire planning process so easy and stress-free for us, and they personally tended to us throughout the reception to take care of anything we needed!
We are blown away by the level of quality service we received at Herrington and we've heard numerous times from our guests at how wonderful the evening was and how much fun everyone had. We are forever grateful to the Herrington Inn Staff for being such a huge part of making our special day truly wonderful. We can't wait to come back and visit! Thank you!
Truly amazing! I can't say enough about how wonderful Deanne and Rose were in planning the perfect day! From the first day we met Deanne and toured the venue, we thought that Deanne was on point and she was one of the main reasons we selected The Herrington as our venue - we knew we'd be in good hands. The Herrington Inn is a hidden gem! The space is beautiful! Having been built in the 1800s-early 1900s it is full of stone walls and cobbled floors complete with Juliette balconies and a lawn overlooking the Fox River. It was a space that had a lot of natural interest with just enough romanticism so we didn't have to provide a ton of additional decor. Our ceremony overlooked the river and our cocktail hour did also. The plated dinner was delicious and all of our guests commented on how good the food was and how much food they got - no one left hungry! The servers and bartenders were fantastic, leaving no glass empty! Throughout the planning process Deanne and Rose were very responsive and understanding, even to lots of questions! The day of, Rose was right there in the morning checking in on me, organizing the processional, and making sure everything was going smoothly all through the reception. The next morning she also made it a point to see us off into our new married life! The accommodations were beautiful also - we had a suite overlooking the Fox River and were able to enjoy breakfast the next morning on our balcony. We couldn't have picked a more perfect location for our wedding day or a more amazing staff to make it all possible! We plan to go back in a few weeks and stay there again! Thank you so so so much!
The Herrington Inn & Spa was just incredible for our wedding! We loved working with Deanne and Rose who made planning so easy! They are extremely organized and so much fun to work with. They were up front about costs and definitely had a "can do" attitude about everything we wanted to do, made suggestions on how to make things work and whenever I had any questions, they were quick to offer assistance! The venue was just absolutely gorgeous and the ceremony and reception were better than anything I could have imagined!
The Herrington Inn and Spa let my husband and I have the perfect wedding day! I can't speak highly enough about Deanne and Rose who made sure everything ran smoothly for us - not only throughout the most important day, but also every interaction leading up to it was so great - I never felt like I had to worry about anything when it came to the food or venue. We had a lovely outdoor ceremony in their courtyard looking out onto the river and had the most fabulous food (a couple of wedding guests said it was the best wedding food they had ever had!) The staff helped in every way they could and I didn't have to worry about a thing on our special day. I'd recommend getting married here to any newly engaged couple!!
My bridesmaids and I stayed at The Herrington Inn and Spa the night before my wedding and had adjoining rooms for getting ready on the wedding day. It worked out perfectly. The staff was so accommodating, allowing a late check out for the adjoining room! We had plenty of time to get ready. My husband and I stayed the rest of the weekend of our wedding in a River Suite. It was a truly relaxing and luxurious, local getaway! Thanks to the staff for making us feel so at home and comfortable!
The room was beautiful with a fireplace, a view of the Fox River, and a huge soaking tub. I hope my husband takes me back for every anniversary.

I had both ceremony and reception here!! Superb!! Beautiful!! The staff here are exceptional. The Wedding Ceremony and Reception went off without a hitch. The setting was stunning. I cannot say enough wonderful things for The Herrington!! Deanne, was phenomenal!!!
I cannot recommend The Herrington highly enough. Everyone we worked with was absolutely wonderful, warm, and efficient. We spent the first few days of our honeymoon talking about how we couldn't believe everything went so well and was so easy. No one batted an eye at any of the little quirky things we wanted to do, they set up all of our decorations with very little direction and it was more beautiful than I could have imagined, and THE FOOD...so many guests told us that it was the best meal they'd ever had at a wedding. Even without that qualifications, their food is EXCELLENT, and even the servers and bartenders are friendly and helpful.
Big, big thanks to Deanne, Cyndi, and Rose for making our dream wedding happen! You could not make a better choice for your venue than the Herrington, they will make you feel like you and your wedding are truly important to them.

My husband and I stayed here as well as some of our guests. Even though this is one of the more expensive hotels in the area, they did give us a block room rate. Our room was beautiful, and they helped make our wedding very special.
