Our wedding was magical - the venue provided a private and peaceful setting for us and all our guests with stunning views. The food was fabulous. We are so happy to know that we can go back to our wedding venue anytime we'd like and relive the magic.
The only reason they got dinged one star from us is because they did not let us know that they had saved our cake top and that they would throw it away if we did not ask for it within 24 hours. With the busy-ness of the day, our cake top did not cross our minds until it was too late. We were disappointed because the staff and us had interacted several times after the night was over - saying goodnight as we walked up the stairs, checking out the next day, having breakfast the next day, etc. And no one mentioned the cake. We called but Becky's response was cold and unapologetic, stating that they had let us know in one buried line in a policy that they sent via email 9 months prior and had already thrown our cake out.
I just wanted other brides to know that the Inn was a fabulous venue - and we have absolutely no regrets - but their communication around this detail was quite a disappointment.
The Inn at Stonecliffe sits up high on the West Bluff of Mackinac Island with breathtaking views of the Mackinac Bridge while overlooking the Straits of Mackinac, making this the perfect location for a wedding. The gorgeous surroundings and sunset views lend the opportunity for an abundance of beautiful photographs. We had the pleasure of working with Becky Miller who was essential to creating such a positive and memorable experience for us, even helping us navigating the postponement of our September 2019 wedding. Becky is excellent at communicating, extremely responsive, attentive, professional, and so easy to work with. The food was delicious, and the service was impeccable! Thank you to Becky and her team for all they did to make our wedding so special in every way imaginable.
I was supposed to have my wedding 9/10/22 at the Stonecliffe, which unfortunately had to be canceled due to renovations. I STILL would highly recommend the Stonecliffe. They have went above and beyond to make things right. I am so beyond grateful for the Stonecliffe and their wonderful staff. Kevin has worked tirelessly to personally call to other venues to try to find something for us. I am over 5 hours away from Mackinac Island, and I am thoroughly impressed with how communication was never an issue. Now, I really do get to continue planning my dream wedding. Thank you Stonecliffe, and thank you Kevin. We will plan on staying at the Stonecliffe in the future to celebrate our anniversary♡
The staff at Stonecliffe were some of the most kind, welcoming people we have ever meet. They went above and beyond in helping us make our special day happen and I couldn't imagine having it at any other place!
My wife and I chose this venue for it's solitude (2 miles away from the downtown area) and it's beauty. Our stay and ceremony involved only the two of us (no guests!), so everything was very easy to plan, especially with the help of Becky and Kacee. The general staff at the hotel was very helpful and courteous as well.
The Woodland Grotto (on the Inn at Stonecliffe grounds) was the perfect setting for our very small ceremony, and the nearby Sunset Rock was a short walk through the woods and provided us with some wonderful pictures.
We will be coming back next year for our one year anniversary, and we are looking forward to our stay there.
We cannot recommend The Inn at Stonecliffe enough! Their coordinator, Becky Smith, was phenomenal to work with throughout the planning process. They executed everything we wanted and ensured our guests had a great time. The food, the drinks, the service, the grounds all exceeded our expectations.
We could not have asked for a better experience than what we had at The Inn at Stonecliffe! We wanted a smaller, intimate event and it turned out to be everything we had dreamed of and more. Becky was VERY responsive to all of my e-mails and questions. The food was amazing, and the inn itself is stunning and makes for BEAUTIFUL photos. The power went out our first day there and remained off for almost 24 hours, but the staff swooped in to make sure our rehearsal dinner was perfect and our guests were happy! If you'e re thinking of having your wedding at Stonecliffe, DO IT! You will not be disappointed! We will never stop raving, or get tired of listening to our guests tell us how much fun they had!
The Inn at Stoneclifffe and their staff were absolutely outstanding. We had to switch our venue last minute (30 days out from wedding date) due to COVID restrictions in our state, and every member of their team made sure everything was handled quickly and done amazingly. Becky was extraordinary in making sure our day was everything we could have dreamed of and more. She was on top of every detail, was extremely quick to answer questions, and always followed through on her promises. She and her whole staff went above and beyond for us. They took what could have been a very stressful re-plan, and handled it with ease. The day of went perfectly. Becky and her staff had thought of everything we could have needed and more. The staff during the reception were incredible and the food was outstanding. We received so many compliments from our guests on the menu, and all credit goes to Stonecliffe. Due to the last minute switch, we didn’t even get to do a food tasting, but we were BLOWN AWAY by the quality, quantity, and flavors of our meal at our wedding reception. They worked to exceed every expectation and made our wedding day perfect. We had so much fun! You should absolutely book your Mackinac Island wedding here! Our vendors: (DJ Brevin with A-List Event Group, Photographer Sara Wright with ItsWonderfulPhotography, and Videographer Gabi Bowditch with Mackinac Films). Brevin, Sara, and Gabi worked seamlessly at Stonecliffe and captured every moment perfectly. They all knew the venue and worked efficiently with the staff! I couldn’t recommend them all more. Overall, the day was everything we could have imagined and more.
Beautiful location and friendly staff.
From the breathtaking views, delicious food, and wooded grounds, Stonecliffe exceeded our expectations. When we asked couples what they would do differently at their wedding, they always responded: a destination wedding and a smaller guest count. We tried to follow that advice and have NO regrets. It was the perfect crowd (50 people). Find other ways to honor that extended family, like a shower. Having a “destination” like Mackinac is a great default to keep your list on the lower side so you can truly enjoy yourself. This day is about you two, so make sure your priorities are met!
If you can’t decide where to have your ceremony, I’d recommend the front lawn to keep the bridge and portico a surprise. We were originally in the grotto and 2 hours before the ceremony, with the rain, we switched to the front lawn to have the mansion as our background. We purchased 60 black and white umbrellas from Home Depot (only $4 each!) to be outdoors, and as soon as we got off the carriages, it stopped raining! Stonecliffe’s layout was perfect for our wedding, as it allowed all of us to have enough room to not feel on top of one another, all while enjoying the grounds. I strongly recommend taking advantage of the entire property and get the portico. This allows you to take time with your guests, get photos, eat and drink.
Becky Miller was wonderful to work with. She was quick to respond to emails, phone calls, and edits of agendas/docs. Becky worked with our vendors to quickly coordinate our last-minute change of plans. She also helped offset the costs when we had changes with COVID – we were able to roll our shoulders back knowing that we weren’t losing $ from unforeseen circumstances. Becky’s professionalism may come off as a bit dismissive, as she is very concise with her answers, but realize (as I had to!) she is coordinating multiple weddings A WEEK and for her to keep all this straight is a triumph. She worked tirelessly our entire day and was so helpful with making us feel like everything was taken care of, especially our unique requests. I am grateful to have had her on the property helping us during the rehearsal and the entire wedding day.
We wanted to have a vegetarian-heavy wedding and eliminate factory-farming ingredients – Stonecliffe did NOT disappoint. The hors d'oeuvres were SO good. We had spring rolls, bruschetta, goat cheese filos, and strawberry crostinis. Everyone loved them. We also had an open bar and a champagne bar that was a table on the portico with flowers. For the reception, we had the Stonecliffe salad and a choice of the whitefish, mushroom ravioli, or a vegan entrée. The ravioli was incredible. I ate my entire plate of it! Strongly recommend, even if you are on the fence about mushrooms (my husband took some off my plate!). We had a dessert bar and our cake by Annie’s. While very good, there was a lot of desserts for 50 people, so most went to waste. We tried to take as much as we could, but a lot got thrown! Be sure to limit splurging on sweets, as a lot of people are full and dancing + drinking will have begun. If you are the bride, BE SURE to make time for food! Don’t be the bride that didn’t eat at her wedding, because the food was delicious.
We are so incredibly grateful to have had our wedding at the Inn at Stonecliffe. It is worth every penny and will be a night you and your guests will never forget!
As a COVID bride, I had the disappointment of having our dream California Vineyard wedding moved then canceled. On a whim, while visiting my family in Michigan, we toured the Inn at Stonecliffe on Mackinac Island and immediately booked it! I cannot begin to explain how beautiful of a venue this is. The grounds are out of a fairytale and Becky was so amazingly helpful. We planned our entire wedding (while working as a surgeon) in only 3 weeks. The end result was a wedding even more beautiful than our original wedding. Thanks to Becky and the entire team of vendors, our nightmare became a DREAM!
Everything was absolutely perfect! The staff at Stonecliffe is so helpful and accommodating. The food was delicious! We had our rehearsal dinner and wedding celebration on site. My husband and I stayed the rest of the week and can not wait to go back to celebrate our anniversary for years to come!
Working with Becky at The Inn at Stonecliffe was a wonderful experience for my daughter's wedding. The Inn at Stonecliffe provides a gorgeous view of the bridge for the backdrop. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and made our guests feel right at home.
We chose the Inn at Stonecliffe for our destination wedding because of it’s quiet romantic yesteryear atmosphere and beautiful grounds. Add the rich colors of a Michigan fall with a perfect view of the Mackinaw bridge and we were hooked. The staff there is friendly and helpful, the food is outstanding and the servers top notch. A special thank you to Becky Miller, the Inn’s wedding coordinator. Not only did she guide us through selecting the options offered for our wedding day, and coordinated with the other vendors, she supported our ‘treasure hunt’ and helped us create a welcome reception that our guests still talk about.
We absolutely loved having our ceremony here. Becky, our coordinator was so helpful and accommodating. The grounds were just beautiful for our setting and pictures.
This was the perfect place for our wedding! Becky, the event planner, was super helpful through the whole process. Becky was super quick to respond to emails and was there for us the whole day of the wedding. The food was excellent. We had numerous guests say that this was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. We had 111 guests and the venue fit everyone perfectly. I loved that the inn was hidden away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, yet we still had the Mackinac Island feel. Highly recommend!
The Inn at Stonecliffe is the perfect place to get married on Mackinac Island if you want to get away from the hustle & bustle of downtown Mackinac. It is SO beautiful anytime of the year & there are many different locations on the property for ceremonies. We had a September wedding in the Woodland Grotto. The days before & after our wedding were chilly & windy, but Saturday of our wedding was sunny & warm & perfect! Becky (wedding coordinator at Stonecliffe) works wonderfully with all of the local vendors, as they are all used to working together. She did a great job dealing with our crazy family & friends (& my mother who worries about everything & asks a thousand questions (: ). She did a wonderful job organizing & coordinating everything--I didn't have to worry about a thing! We had a few guests that RSVPed that didn't end up coming to the wedding & they boxed up their meals for us to take, since we already paid for them. The bartender was amazing! He was extremely personable & poured generous drinks--he even memorized what everyone was drinking & had our next drinks ready for us before we even asked! We used up all the gin in the standard package & they moved us up to the premium brand without hesitation. The food was delicious & the chef came out to talk to us to make sure everything was to our liking. I will say that the chicken tasted better at our tasting than during our actual event, but still delicious & seriously nothing to complain about! The other staff at Stonecliffe was wonderful as well. There was one woman--I'm not sure of her name & I never got to thank her--who physically stood in front of our carriage taxi to keep him from leaving without us after our reception. The driver was insisting on leaving without myself & my groom after our wedding (we got caught up thanking our guest before we left), but she kept the taxi from leaving us behind & we were able to get on the taxi to continue our celebration downtown. The wedding package included champagne & chocolate covered strawberries in our room on the night of our wedding, which for some reason was never left in our room, but I let Becky know the next day & they were left in our room the next evening for us. There are many more examples I could go on about that make Stonecliffe the PERFECT place to get married, but my review can only be so long, so take my word for it!
The food was excellent -- this was the most compliment we received most from guests. "I've never had such good food at a wedding!" We had 82 guests and this number was perfect for the venue, though you could probably go a bit more or less. Location is magical. We considered the Grand Hotel and Mission Point but we are SO SO VERY happy we chose Stonecliffe for the intimacy it provided for us and our guests.
The Inn at Stonecliffe could not be a more perfect location for a wedding ceremony or reception. We had both there this past September. We first attended the tasting that is offered in May, and we found that the food at the wedding itself was better than the tasting. Mackinac is still getting up and running in May, and when we went for the tasting, there were concerns. The tent was dirty, the grounds were still coming together. Both of those were corrected for the event itself. There were some fun additions that we wanted to make, and some came to fruition/some didn't. I think that is to be expected. We wanted to add a creme brulee to be served with our wedding cake, which we weren't able to do. Instead, we added Mackinac Island fudge ice cream, which was a hit. We were able to add a soup course to our dinner for a fee, which was something we felt strongly about in case it was very cold (it ended up being 90 degrees, of course). I was still happy we did it because a four course meal to me seemed a little more exciting, and our wedding was small enough to make it a reasonably priced addition. The day-of execution was flawless, and Becky was all over everything that we could have ever ran into. It went off without a hitch! She checked in on me multiple times throughout the event, and the chef checked in with us as well, which was a great touch. My only advice to Stonecliffe brides would be that if there is something you are interested in, ask once, and then ask again just to make sure there is no way of making it work, if it is something you feel really strongly about. Other than that, everything was perfect, and I can't imagine we would have had a better wedding anywhere else!
This little gem tucked in the back woods of Mackinac Island is an absolute dream! Becky was so wonderful to work with, she made my planning experience flawless and trouble-free. She was overly helpful and quick to get ahold of, even during their offseason. Eric was very accommodating, as well as the rest of the staff. I would recommend this venue to any bride and their sister location Harbor View Inn, solely on the opportunity to work with Becky Miller. Great experience and amazing memories! Someone should write an editorial on her and her presence in the wedding industry, a renowned asset to Mackinac Island!
The Inn at Stonecliffe is a magical place to get married and a hidden gem on the island. The grounds are stunning, the view of the bridge is unmatched, and the its location 2 miles from the main street make it seem like you are on an island within an island! We were married in the Grotto in August and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. Becky, the wedding coordinator, made planning a breeze and was a huge help navigating the intricacies of the island. She was so helpful and accommodating the weekend of the wedding, and made sure everything was taken care of. Highly recommend the Inn at Stonecliffe if you are thinking of having a wedding on the island - perfect for both small intimate weddings and larger parties!
I had the most magical experience here for my wedding! I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful setting or a more wonderful helpful staff. I have had soooo many compliments on our wedding and couldn't imagine a better setting! Truly amazing!
We got married Oct 9, 2015 in the backyard of the Mansion and had our reception for 19 people on the back portico overlooking the Mackinac Bridge. This setting is so beautiful and magical. Becky the wedding coordinator did an excellent job from start to finish. I felt like I had so many questions throughout the planning process that I was going to annoy her. She answered them all as they came in with kindness.
The meal was amazing too, steaks cooked perfectly, so juicy and delicious. Service was prompt. We couldn't have ask for more for our special day!
The Inn at Stonecliffe was the perfect location for a fairytale wedding. The woodland grotto presents a storybook setting for the guests and is a magical experience for the bride and wedding party to walk into. The private setting in the cedar trees makes you feel like you are in your own forest away from everything, but the water fountain and beautiful flowers.
I am so glad my husband and I chose the Inn at Stonecliffe for our wedding. It was the ideal location for the kind of wedding we dreamed of. We had a beautiful ceremony in the lush grotto. The Bridgeview tent was a great space for the reception, the food was excellent and the staff extremely helpful. We loved that it was a bit off the beaten path, and enjoyed the huge expanse of lawn that guests could take a stroll around. We stayed in both buildings of the Inn and loved the unique styles of both types of rooms, which were all very well maintained. Becky was great to work with, helping us through every stage of the planning process, and Margaret and the rest of the staff on the weekend of our event made everything run so smoothly between getting all of our luggage to the Inn, setting up and tearing down tables/chairs and all of our decorations, serving our guests, etc. It was truly the perfect day thanks to everyone at the Inn at Stonecliffe!
Where do we even begin… Everything at The Inn at Stonecliffe was absolutely perfect, beyond anything we ever imagined our day could be. Becky and Nelorean were a dream to work with. From the moment I woke up to start my day, to the time we finally called it a night, they were there to accommodate any request. The service was beyond exceptional and the food was delicious! Our family and friends are still talking about how amazing our wedding was!! They really handled everything for us so that we didn’t have to worry about a thing. Becky made the whole process easy early on by helping recommend vendors so we could just use everyone right on the island. We used the following vendors, who I would also like to recommend and recognize for their outstanding service!
Photographer – Andrejka Photography – SPLURGE on her you will not regret it. Our wedding photos look straight out of a magazine!!! She also knew all the good spots and helped move through the family and bridal party pictures quickly.
DJ - MICA Entertainment – Patrick was amazing – he really knows how to throw a party! Hire him from start to finish! Ceremony, cocktail hour, and your reception. He’s a wonderful MC and he makes everything flow so nicely and professionally.
Florist - Margarets Garden – We worked with Laurie and she was so sweet and accommodating. We didn’t have a big budget for flowers, but that didn’t matter, she still treated our order like it was for the royal family. Our flowers were STUNNING!!!
Party Favors – Joann’s Fudge!! Because what else would you give your guests while you’re on Mackinac Island. We had personalized boxes in our 2 favorite flavors, chocolate and peanut butter.
Cake – Bella E Dolce – AMAZING!!!!
Minister – Tom Marx – He kept it short, sweet, simple and to the point!! It was a beautiful ceremony.
Decorations – Keep it simple, that breathtaking backdrop is really all you need. We had some paper lanterns, and cloth napkin centerpiece (which are now our keepsake home napkins), table number sign and the flowers from Margaret’s. Our ceremony was in the Woodland Ghrotto so we didn’t do any decorations. We did pass out paper fans in our wedding colors. That was it. You can see some of our pictures on Instagram #degraafwedding2014
Trust your day in their hands, you will be able to relax and enjoy your special day!!

This was the perfect place for our wedding! The hotel, grounds, and view are an absolutely stunning background, especially for pictures! Becky, the event planner, did an excellent job answering our millions of questions during the planning process and helping with last minute details. She really helped to make our day perfect! All of the staff were wonderful and very helpful! The food was amazing as well! This was the perfect venue for our dream wedding!
Staff was top notch. Fulfilled all of our needs and wants. It is a very unique place to have a wedding, whether its 50 people or 150 people. All of our guests were blown away. Couldn't have asked for a better or more romantic place then the Inn at Stonecliffe.
This inn is a gorgeous place to get married. The event planner is great and is AMAZING at her job. She'll help with everything, and even helped track down vendors I needed confirmation with. However, she tends to hover around the reception looking for guests who might be having "too much" fun. I suppose it's to prevent any problems, but it made many of the guests worry that they were doing something wrong. However, the staff is nice and helpful, the food is incredible, the rooms are gorgeous, the grounds are breathtaking, and I truly would recommend this venue. Just be prepared to spend a pretty penny, as there are minimum fees.
The Inn at Stonecliffe was a wonderful venue for our June wedding. The wedding coordinator and hotel staff are extremely helpful and accommodating. The view from the terraced lawn and reception tent are unmatched on Mackinac Island. Our wedding was absolutely perfect and Stonecliffe is to thank!
