Wonderful wedding venue! Morgan and everyone else were super helpful throughout the process and the day/night turned out truly magical. Couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else.

We hunted for a wedding venue for months before we found Market at Grelen. As soon as you drive onto the property, you know its going to be a special place. While we got married in December, the (heated) greenhouse setting and large overlook tent provided the perfect space for us and our 100 guests. We could not have been happier with the communication from the Grelen event staff, the day-of service provided, and overall experience with the venue itself. If you are a garden lover and want a space that you can transform into anything you want, book Market at Grelen - it's totally worth it.

This venue is amazing. The tent under the lights is stunning & the character of the rest of place (pergola, half moon garden, greenhouse) is all so unique. All the logistics of the venue were pretty straightforward, staff was easy to work with, and competitive prices for the area. Highly recommend!

When we originally received the idea of checking out Grelen from our wedding planner, we looked at the website and were interested enough to set up a viewing appointment. The website, however, did nothing to prepare us for how unbelievably gorgeous this property is. Not only did we feel immediately at home working with the event team including Kristen and Morgan, but the location offered endless options for breathtaking photos, a gorgeous ceremony, and a fantastic tent to celebrate the night away. We were lucky enough to house our wedding party at nearby Spotswood Lodge, where we received the same level of professional service and rustic charm. Grelen itself feels like a getaway to some other part of the world entirely, yet also beautifully showcases all that Virginia has to offer. While we received so many compliments for the day itself, the number we received regarding the venue itself was overwhelming. We can't wait to return to the market, cafe and nursery so we can relive our gorgeous event for years to come.

The Market at Grelen was an absolute DREAM. We had a July wedding and it was better than we could have ever dreamed or planned for it to be. The staff, especially Kristin Simler and Morgan, we fantastic. So very professional and kind. They made our planning and wedding week so peaceful, effortless, and stress-free. The venue is absolutely PERFECTION. The overlook view of the orchard from the tent is breathtaking. We got married in the Half Moon Garden under the gorgeous willow tree. It was so magical and fit 100 people perfectly. It was transformed by a beautiful oasis by the staff! One of our favorite parts of the ceremony were the plants from around the venue arranged along the aisle, to create the most gorgeous atmosphere. The tent was GORGEOUS with amazing lighting and was so specious. No need to rent a dance floor, as the flooring there is gorgeous and dance ready! It rained after our ceremony and the staff pulled the tent siding down easily, making the rain an absolute non-issue. It was just beautiful to watch the rain from the comfort of the inside of the tent! This venue is absolutely gorgeous. The staff is amazing. It was PERFECT for our wedding day and we are so thankful!

Our wedding at the Market at Grelen was PERFECT! We couldn't be more happy with the entire experience. From our very first visit, we felt comfortable asking them all of our questions, and they were always responsive to our emails and calls. Kristin, in particular, went above and beyond for us. On our special day, their staff drove us and our photographer to a beautiful spot in the berry field at sunset, and the photos are just incredible! The tent was gorgeous, lit up with all of their lights. Although it did not rain, the Grelen had a contingency plan ready to go, and we never felt worried. Working with the Grelen allowed us to just relax and enjoy our wedding day (it goes so fast!). Their list of vendors was excellent. One other special thing we love about the Grelen is that, because they aren't just a wedding venue, we can keep coming back for their lovely cafe (especially their ice cream!), hiking trails, and greenery (every plant we've gotten from them has thrived in our home). We would highly recommend them for your wedding, or for a date.

My son and daughter-in-heart were holding their wedding and reception at this spectacular venue and I needed to arrange for a Rehearsal Dinner for them. Not only that I don't live in Virginia, but the pandemic, restaurant closings, etc., made it stressful to plan and host this special event for them. I contacted The Market at Grelen and their amazing Director of Sales and Events, Kristin Simler was simply the best! I was able to arrange to hold the Rehearsal Dinner after the Wedding Rehearsal at The Market at Grelen's Stone Terrace, one of many beautiful areas at this venue. Kristin gave me the best recommendation to have Blue Ridge Pizza Co. cater this special dinner and my theme Love & Pizza was born. We were having a formal & plated dinner at the Wedding Reception, that having the best wood-fired oven pizza would be fantastic. Kristin's and her staff's communication was excellent. They responded to my emails very quickly and Kristin's attention to detail and customer service was outstanding! I had a poster made and had it shipped to the venue's address and I got a notice telling me I could pick it up from the local Post Office. Yikes! I thought, I'm in AZ not VA and contacted Kristin. She was able to get it for me and store in her office for a few weeks and displayed it at our dinner. I so appreciated her kindness. She is Amazing! Kristin contacted me by email the day before the Wedding Rehearsal and Dinner to tell me that "It was going to be a HOT one" and ask if I wanted to move the dinner from the Stone Terrace to the Shade Garden since it tends to be much cooler than the terrace that gets direct sun. I was so grateful for her going above and beyond; looking out for us. The Shade Garden was just as she said too "a lovely area"! Thank you Kristin and staff at The Market at Grelen for sharing your time and talents with the Cusimano and Patrell families! I hope to visit your café and shops next time I'm in Virginia!

This is an amazing venue. Originally we were booked somewhere else, but when we had to reschedule due to covid we found the Market at Grelen and thank goodness we did. It’s a beautiful space with lots of different options for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. Would defiantly recommend.

I don't know where to start raving about the whole Market at Grelen experience! My daughter picked this venue and she got married there. The family stayed at the Boxwood Villa. Everything went off perfectly even with major rain on the day. We loved the Boxwood Villa. It was perfect and beautiful. But the staff at Grelen was amazing. And I would like to shout out to Emmie. She was responsive before, during and after the event. We had a wonderful weekend and highly recommend this venue for weddings and the Villa for a getaway for family and friends.

We had our wedding here in June and it was truly the most magical day! The setting at the Market at Grelen is so stunning. From the beautiful natural backdrop during our Berry Field ceremony to dancing the night away at our reception under the stars in the clear top tent, allowed us to have the most perfect day. There are so many beautiful spots for pictures and we loved taking photos at Bloomfield during Golden Hour. Another wonderful benefit of having a wedding here is being able to use any of Grelen's plants and flowers throughout the wedding day. Everyone has commented on how beautiful our wedding location was and many asked us how we found such a perfect location. The event staff was so wonderful to work with. Tess and Emmie were responsive and helpful during the wedding planning process with our many questions. It is very evident that they are passionate about their work and our whole day ran so efficiently. We could not have asked for a more beautiful spot to have our wedding day and will forever hold onto our amazing memories made here at The Market at Grelen!

We had a wonderful time at the Market at Grelen for our wedding day in late June! This property is absolutely stunning, and my now husband and I were very excited when we found exactly what we'd been looking for - an outdoor venue with gorgeous greenery and a single location for our ceremony and reception. We were fortunate to have been able to book this venue over a year in advance, but the only downside about having booked this early was that we were strung along with a lot of changes that were occurring with the business - staff changes, catering options, venue changes, etc. While some of these changes were communicated to us in a timely manner, others were not, and that was a little frustrating to deal with during those times. In the end, though, we truly had a fantastic team of coordinators for our wedding day as well as our weekend stay at Spotswood Lodge - Emmie and Leslie worked so so hard to make sure our wedding day and our time on the property was unforgettable, and we were very impressed with how well everything turned out. We could not have asked for a better venue and we certainly look forward to visiting again!! Thank you all so much!!! :)

When I stumbled upon the Market at Grelen while searching for venues, I just had a feeling it would be the perfect spot to host our intimate wedding. It truly lived up to all our expectations! We absolutely loved the setting (especially the backdrop of the greenhouse) and so did our guests. Just felt like a magical day all around. Thank you to the Grelen team who paid attention to all my ideas during the planning process, and helped bring every detail to life. Will be a day we treasure forever!

Many of my guests commented that they had never been to a more beautiful venue. The staff was amazing and the views were incredible - made for amazing pictures. I can't say enough great things about The Market at Grelen. Get married here.

The Market at Grelen is an absolutely stunning venue. My husband and I are residents of DC who enjoy getting out of town to beautiful Virginia. We knew that many of our guests would be traveling from out of town, so we were looking for a venue that would show off what a beautiful region we live in and give our guests access to all the things we love about the area (gorgeous scenery, excellent wineries, fantastic hiking, and a quick trip to DC for anyone who wanted to sightsee). We knew as soon as we drove onto the property that The Market at Grelen was our venue. The stunning views and the ability to use their nursery for decor meant that we didn't need to spend any time thinking about additional decor, and our floral budget could remain quite small. We also appreciated having so many different event locations available to us, especially options in case of rain! In addition, the market and cafe made for the perfect place for us to meet with vendors as we came down from DC on numerous weekends while planning. The venue did experience a little bit of turnover of their event staff between the time we signed our contract and our wedding date, but given the nature of the industry and the fact that we had booked our date over a year out, we weren't too surprised by this, and the event team communicated this very clearly. We experienced a few other funky communication issues, but generally these were small and sorted out by just asking a lot of questions. Overall, I would hands down recommend this venue if you love the scenery like we did!

The Market at Grelen is an absolutely beautiful and just what we wanted for our wedding. The staff were incredibly easy to work with and happy to answer our millions of questions throughout the process; they also offered a wide range of options (e.g. where to have different parts of the event) and were very prepared for what bad weather and REALLY bad weather plans were. And, of course, taking newlywed shots in different places around the property was spectacular!! All in all, Grelen is a stellar location for anyone who wants an outdoor wedding in a beautiful natural setting.

We could not be more happy to have chosen The Market at Grelen as our wedding venue. Tess and Emmie were so easy to work with and answered all of our many, many questions. There was a transition of event managers mid-way through our planning process and Leslie, one of the owners, emailed me to let me know of the change and assured me it would be a seamless transition, and it was! Our guests continue to rave about the views at the venue and how no matter where you looked your breath was taken away. It rained on our wedding day, and Tess and Emmie were so accommodating with letting us wait until practically the last minute to call our rain plan. Even though we did not have our ceremony in our original location, they made our back up location amazing! We could not be more happy with the location our ceremony location ended up being in and feel like it turned our better then what we originally envisioned. We look forward to continuing to make trips down to The Market Grelen to visit each year and enjoy everything they have to offer.

We had a our ceremony and reception at The Market at Grelen and I cannot say enough about how wonderful the venue is. First of all, the grounds are breathtaking and well kept which provides a completely natural and beautiful pallet. Second, the staff are so kind, understanding and willing to help in whatever way possible. Tess, the Assistant Director of Events is a dream to work with. And the owner, Leslie, expresses so much excitement for your wedding that she makes you feel like a part of the Grelen community instantly. Do yourself a favor and book your wedding here! You will not be disappointed!

Beautiful venue. Service was sub par for the price you are paying. They were considerate when I voiced my dissatisfaction which was nice. They are under new management, so they are still figuring it out. However, they are charging as much as those who know what they’re doing. They also had strict/weird rules so make sure you read the contract and ask questions before committing. If you’re all about aesthetics and don’t care too much about customer service, this is your place!

I can't give our venue a high enough rating. I loved it as soon as I saw it online and it was even better in person. We opted for cocktail hour on the Stone Terrace, which is set up for Market guests during business hours. It was perfect. Then we had our ceremony in the garden, also gorgeous and perfect for our 100 guests. And our reception under the glass-top tent was everything I hoped it would be - gorgeous, comfortable, spacious, with a fabulous view of the fields and mountains in the back and fire pits for guests to relax at. Also, they took us on an ATV ride for the most gorgeous sunset photos! It was so much fun and the results were AMAZING! I cannot say good enough things. Also, the staff! Simply joyous to work with! Our coordinator Tess was wonderful - kind and helpful and professional. We loved everything about The Market at Grelen and thought it was worth every penny.

We had a wonderful experience having our wedding at the Market at Grelen - it is an absolutely stunning venue. The only issue we had was that there were a few times when communication was quite lagged and unclear.

We had our wedding at Grelen almost a month ago and could not have been happier! Amanda was so wonderful in all of our pre-wedding planning, and on the big day the venue was gorgeous! So glad we chose such a wonderful spot!

We wanted a special venue that would represent us. A place where we could bring the family and friends together on our day, but still feel intimate and be able to appreciate the beauty of central Virginia. The Market at Grelen captured all that and more. The event planner, Amanda, is a pleasure to work with. She is very detailed and provides sound experience whether you are having a big affair or a intimate gathering. Additionally, in our case we needed someone to coordinate a majority of the event. We did not have to hire a coordinator and then all the other vendors. Having a preferred, experienced team who are seasoned on working together - made such a huge difference to us. I cannot say enough about Amanda, the team at the Market, and all the vendors we worked with. They made our little evening so special - we will never forget. You also have so many options for your ceremony and reception. Every spot there is gorgeous. We loved how you could combine the plants, flowers, and trees that were already a part of the decor. Our wedding was in the fall, but we never had to worry about a back up plan in the event of inclement weather - with the event tent and the greenhouse, you are covered. We highly recommend this venue if you want a spectacular wedding to remember. Amanda and the Market team will most assuredly make it happen! They certainly did for us!

We eloped at the Market at Grelen and could not have loved it more! The grounds are gorgeous and Amanda and her team were extremely kind and responsive. We had the most relaxed wedding day and can't recommend Grelen highly enough!

My daughter & her fiance picked The Market at Grelen after looking at various venues around the Charlottesville area. They were very impressed by what they had to offer at a reasonable price. I visited in March and could see the potential once everything was in bloom for an August wedding. However, the beauty of this venue went beyond my expectations on the day of the wedding. Everything was picture-perfect and Amanda Landon, the Events Coordinator, was a tremendous help. We had about 175 guests and many commented how beautiful The Market at Grelen is and what a gorgeous place it is to have a wedding!! I so agree!!! The venue also offers different locations on the property for the ceremony & reception along with various opportunities for beautiful pictures! We even had a thunderstorm come through at the end of the reception while under the tent and everyone was having such a good time that they hardly knew it was raining. I can't say enough about how beautiful and wonderful my daughter and son-in-law's wedding was and I am so thankful they picked the Market at Grelen!!!

A visit to the Market at Grelen is a pleasure at any time and well worth the trip, but the venue provided an absolutely beautiful setting for our daughter's wedding and reception on June 24, 2017. The Market is so well landscaped and flowers are abundant, and the entire area was available to our guests to wander through the entire evening. Amanda Landon, the venue event coordinator, is very knowledgeable, helpful, and calming. She worked with and allowed us all the decorating ideas we had for the ceremony and the reception. The entire day and evening of the wedding she was right there in case adjustments needed to be made, items moved, etc. at the site, helping to keep things running smoothly. In addition, the entire staff at the Market are all helpful and friendly. We highly recommend the Market at Grelen for a beautiful venue and atmosphere for a wedding. We were thrilled - our daughter and new son-in law's wedding and reception was everything we wanted and more, and the Market at Grelen and those who work there helped to make that dream real!

The Market at Grelen was an awesome 'all in one' venue. There were so many options for event spaces. We were able to keep our event moving around the property. The flowers at the Market added so much color and greenery to our decor and the views around the property were gorgeous. So many guest commented on how unique and beautiful our venue was!

We just got married at The Market at Grelen in May 14. It was one of the best decision that we made for our wedding. The place was so beautiful and all our guests fall in love with. Even some locals from Charlottesville were impressed by the place and they want to come back. Amanda, the wedding coordinator of the Market was incredible. She was very accommodating all of our needs and was on top of everything. She was so pleasant to work with. Every direction that you turn was the great photo spot. We did not want to leave for the reception because we were having too much fun taking pictures. I would recommend any couple who is looking for a charming and beautiful place where you can enjoy the nature and the landscaping of Virginia, this is the place to go for!

As a wedding designer and planner, I appreciate the great lengths that the Market at Grelen goes through to make sure all of their bridal couples have an excellent experience. From the tiny details that one might never notice, like the french drain which encompasses their tent pad, to the more noticeable features such as access to their trees and plants from the nursery - the experience at the Market at Grelen is TOP NOTCH and one that I thoroughly enjoy planning with all my clients. The Market at Grelen is a fantastic venue! Our guests are still raving about the magical ceremony location and reception under the clear sky tent!! From our initial meeting with Sarah, she was super helpful and easy to work with, and drove us all over the venue. I knew the day of the wedding there would be no stress or logistical issues. The Market at Grelen is a one of a kind, beautiful and unique venue that made our wedding day absolutely perfect!!

We are so happy with our experience at The Market at Grelen. Everyone who attended our wedding still talks about how beautiful the tent, the views and ceremony were. Reflecting on my wedding planning, I think the setting of your wedding is the most important factor and decision you make for ensuring you have a wedding that you love. It provides the backdrop and sets the tone for the type of wedding you want to have and remember forever. The Market perfectly matched my vision for a romantic, secret garden wedding that was outdoors but was still elegant and sophisticated feeling. And with the numerous locations for photos, my photographer was having more ideas for photos than we had time for! The greenhouse, gardens, berry fields, sheds, barns, grooves and numerous other locations we never even saw exceeded our expectations for photo opportunities! We had our ceremony between the 2 large trees right beside the tent which was perfect for having our DJ play music as we walked down the aisle and also to use a microphone for our officiant since it can sometimes be hard to hear outdoor ceremonies. The close proximity to the tent was also very helpful for our elderly guests who wouldn't do well walking long distances. The backdrop in our ceremony pictures is absolutely stunning! Rolling hills, fluffy clouds and greenery as far as you can see! We chose to have the clear top on the tent and it was spectacular when the sun went down. Everyone was taking pictures of the stars and sunset through the tent and it provided the most wonderful romantic feeling to see the colors streak across the sky as I danced with my new husband! The stone flooring was perfect for dancing, easy for our older guests to walk on, and gave it a very sophisticated feeling without it feeling formal. The Market provided the dinner tables, chairs for the ceremony (which were moved inside for dinner) and wine barrel/wood bars for the buffet and deserts all of which perfectly matched the feel of our wedding. The bathrooms were provided by the venue since we had fewer than 100 guests which was incredibly nice to have real bathrooms to use during the wedding! (sometimes it's the small things you appreciate most!) Sarah the venue coordinator was very helpful, although the communication was at times slower than I would have liked. However in her defense, we had a very long engagement so our wedding venue point of contact changed three times, which may have contributed to the (at times) last of communication between parties. She was incredibly helpful and efficient with helping to arrange the tent with tables, bars and umbrellas the best way possible to seat everyone, picked a beautiful arbor for our ceremony, placed plants around the tent to help add to the romantic feeling and was an excellent point person for our caterer and photographer to go to with questions during the reception. She made our wedding day easier and had a very relaxing demeanor which was much appreciated before I walked down the aisle! Lastly, we had a very large wedding party so we decided to rent Spotswood Lodge for everyone to stay at for the wedding weekend. What an absolutely amazing house!! It was wonderful to get to spend so much time with our closest friends before and after we got married. The house was beautifully decorated, comfy, the beds were soft and the grounds stunning! I couldn't have been happier with my entire experience at The Market!

I can't say enough good things about this venue. We were one of the first weddings at the Market at Grelen and could not have been happier. I live in NYC but my sisters live close to the venue and helped me pick it out by sending me photos and talking about the pros/cons of Grelen vs other venues around Charlottesville. I chose The Market at Grelen because of my love for gardening and local produce. The first time I visited I knew I made the right decision. The taste level of the woman who buys products for the Market aligned 100% with mine. I knew that any aesthetic choice they made for me I would love, so I let them chose the plants for the ceremony, basic set-up, etc. Their tables and chairs are so beautiful that table cloths, etc aren't really needed. I ended up using some natural rattan charges so the white plates stood out from the white stone tables. Our guests were so pleasantly surprised by the natural beauty of the venue and loved the laid back nature of the ceremony and reception. While the venue provides a laid back vibe, there is so much attention to detail. I was so lucky to have beautiful natural/in-season plants at the ceremony, the topiaries by our ceremony, etc. I chose their gorgeous succulents for our table centerpieces to which they added amazing wooden/metal lanterns. There were a few logistics to overcome such as a costly rain plan (tent which thankfully I didn't need, but still had to put a deposit down on), lighting (lots and lots of votives), and help with setting the tables (mostly because I went with a BBQ vendor who didn't provide all of the staff that another catering company might have). Overall my husband, my family, friends, and I all thoroughly enjoyed the unique nature of The Market at Grelen and were so happy to have this as the setting for our wedding and reception.
