g guests via airport, and about a 5 min drive from where we live. It's not at all busy like you'd expect, but quiet and tucked away from the city. It's unique, and is exactly what I wanted in terms of not having a rustic barn wedding, and it really only needed minimal decor as everything there was so ornate and full of character. They offer the unique opportunity to rent the entire Inn for the weekend to really take advantage of spending time with family and bridal party leading up to the wedding. We LOVED this. The staff is lovely, and so helpful. Brooke Parker works as the event director there, and was there to help us with all our logistical questions and catering/rental questions. She is AMAZING. So kind, and obviously really enjoys her job there. She was attentive and together with my coordinators, they made a dream team in making my vision come to life. Something that I didn't really consider as I first started my search for venues was what is offered along with just the basics of a venue. The Inn has a catering service - Something Classic, that they work with exclusively, as well as a bartending service. This may be an annoyance to some brides but I found it extremely helpful because it eliminated my searching for extra vendors. Both vendors were amazing, and the catering was actually delicious. I really could go on and on but to keep it short, I can't reccomend the Morehead Inn enough as a wedding venue. You will not be disappointed!

Our favorite thing was that we were able to stay on location with immediate family & friends, which made a world of a difference especially on our wedding day! isurely visit in a quality way. It was like having a huge house all to ourselves through the entire weekend. The atmosphere, food, service, and support were stellar. From the planning phase through execution, Brooke exceeded expectations in every way. She was available, responsive, patient and an absolute gem to work with. Matthew, Sarah and all the support staff at the Inn were attentive to our every need. The wait staff at the reception dinner were so professional and we had many compliments on the food which was fantastic- very rare at weddings. From the Welcome Party on the patio on Friday evening, rehearsal dinner in the private dining room, the ceremony at the fireplace, to the cocktail hour on the patio off of the tearoom-- the Inn accommodated our needs perfectly. Our first look was in the gorgeous library. The character of the Morehead is beautiful, but the grand staircase for the bridal and newlywed entry truly enhanced our event. We had 57 people at the wedding which was the perfect size for the inside ceremony and dinner (we didn't want to rely on the weather for an outside event). The Morehead is masterful at flipping the room with no problems whatsoever. I was concerned about the dance floor being separate from the dining area, but it actually gave guests a place to relax and get a break from the music. We chose a checkerboard dance floor with a beautiful Montgomery bar which enhanced the architectural details of the Inn. If you want a gorgeous, classic, intimate, southern venue full of character- then the Morehead Inn is your place. Couldn't have asked for a more beautiful event. Thank you Morehead Inn!

We heard lots of positive feedback on the quality of the food. Many guests remarked that the beef short ribs were the best they had ever eaten! All the dinners came out hot, were artfully arranged on the plate with a side of vegetables, and absolutely delicious. The portion sizes were generous. I was impressed with the servers handling all the meals quickly, professionally, and correctly. The servers were friendly and very attentive oriented. Truly, the whole experience exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend Something Classic Catering for whatever event you are hosting. Brooke Burton, the events coordinator is a true professional. She is an outstanding communicator, organized, and very detail oriented. She made the planning process a breeze. She was a delight to work with every step of the way! We rented out the whole Inn for the family. It was so nice and convenient having everyone together. And, very fun. The rooms are spacious, light and bright, individually decorated and charming. Staff was friendly and helpful.

the day of. It's so convenient that they have rooms for the wedding party to stay in overnight, and the location is close enough to the city for stuff to do while being secluded enough that it's quiet. Highly recommend!

highlights of weddings, as I am coming to find, is talking about everything the day after. We and guests were raving about: -the venue is beautiful and (in my mind to help keep floral budget down, doesn’t need a ton of florals compared to a bare bones property since it already has an ambiance) -free parking is convenient directly across the street (for vendors and guests) -we dined inside and while it was tight quarters for us to get around, having all the tables so close together allowed for easy and fun conversation with other tables. We used all three rooms and we definitely hated having to split people to where some couldn’t see us and speeches but they could hear everything including the piano we had during dinner -Brooke was very responsive and the team at MI was amazing -we rented out the entire inn and being able to hang out both Friday and Saturday night was amazing. You feel like you’re having a wedding at home. There were so many hangout spots: The MOH was in the solarium and so we were able to use that for beer/food, dining room, the room with the birds, outside you had the fire pits in the front and back, the entire grounds are your oyster and it’s incredible. -unloading all your wedding items and not having to wait in an elevator lobby etc was so nice -obviously being able to walk right up to bed when you wanted was amazing -Ubers have an easy path to get guests -just having everything easy and convenient all there just made the day relaxing. I truly didn’t feel like the day went by so fast (the weekend did) but it was just perfect -they don’t have a bar but they do have drinks in the back they are happy to serve you! -having breakfast downstairs in the morning was so nice! They are a little slow so just be prepared for that I think the only hiccup we had was the food tasting. Our beef medallions were inedible but they handled and they turned out great. It’s obviously not a culinary event but people were still pleased with the food. Also bring coolers for drinks bc they don’t have fridges in rooms or really much of anywhere to keep things cool. I’m sure I’m missing something but we were so happy with our choice (which I’ll be honest my fiance didn’t like the venue at first bc he was worried it would feel crammed but was so pleased during and after). We also lucked out with weather so we had access across the grounds. We’re so glad we hired Libby sarver as our coordinator as well to help make our day so smooth. Would do it all over again. Highly recommend this property and enjoyed the wedding size that made it so intimate and special to us.

She kept us on track schedule-wise but was never too pushy when we needed time to discuss and make decisions. Communication was prompt and we planned everything from beginning to end in about 3 months. We were given lots of options to cater to our vision. Although, we didn't need to come with much vision as The Morehead Inn sells itself. We needed minimal to zero decor - the place is beautiful. Having the catering in-house was also a plus, one less vendor to juggle. Dorrys stayed around the entire evening making sure that we had all we needed. The entire staff was wonderful. Our guests raved about it. If you're looking for a venue that's intimate and quite different from your standard ballroom, in the city, yet tucked away surrounded by beautiful scenery, this is your place!

t every detail - the rooms were incredible, the food was delicious and the staff was so kind and accommodating. We rented all the rooms in the Inn and were able to extend the wedding well into the night - such a unique and awesome perk to the space! We'd highly recommend anyone choose this venue!

in the heart of Charlotte, so it was convenient for guests to get to while still being able to explore other parts of the city. The food at our reception was amazing—we received so many compliments from our guests on how delicious everything was. We were required to book all the rooms for the weekend, and it ended up working out perfectly that our entire wedding party could stay there. Everyone had a comfortable stay and we were able to gather around the fire pit after the reception to continue celebrating with s’mores and cigars. The Inn provides a fantastic breakfast included in the price of each room, so it was nice to enjoy breakfast together Saturday and Sunday mornings. One thing to be conscious of is that the space for the dance floor/band isn’t too big, and the neighborhood does not allow amplified music outdoors. We made it work by using a five-person band and holding the wedding party intros and first dances in the main living room. We had around 100 guests at the reception and felt like there was plenty of space for traffic flow and for guests to mingle and sit. The best part of the Morehead Inn though has to be the people—the entire staff was warm, welcoming, and dedicated to making sure we had the best weekend. Dorrys, the events coordinator, was a joy to work with and her enthusiasm during our initial tour sold us on selecting the Inn as our reception venue. She was so helpful and honest with her suggestions during the planning process and really took care of each meticulous detail. We will always be grateful to the Morehead Inn and its wonderful staff, as we truly had the perfect wedding weekend there.

She had great ideas and was always open to let us stop by for a quick chat or to ask questions. I thought planning during a pandemic was going to be stressful but it was a breeze. Dorrys was always informed on the latest mandates and everyone made our guests and I feel comfortable the entire stay. The food was AMAZING! We chose appetizers from the catering menu and it was absolutely delicious. There were option for some amazing food and it was very hard to choose! The staff from the catering company was great and there was plenty of food and drink for the night. If you are thinking about booking The Morehead Inn then do it, you will not regret having this unique and memorable venue.

We had originally placed to have the ceremony at a separate location, but due to COVID restrictions that plan fell through. Thankfully we were able to move it to the Inn easily and I’m so glad we did! Dorrys never batted an eye and promised me they would make it the wedding I always dreamed of, and it was! The location is beautiful and classic. Plenty of background options for your photos, either outside, or inside in front of one of the fireplace, or on the grand staircase! The catering was amazing. All of our guest told us how it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding! They had plenty of options to choose from when planning the menu. Including mini chicken and waffles for hor dourves! Which we thought was so fun and unique! The staff were all so friendly and accommodating. Since our party had rented the entire Inn for the weekend we quite literally had access to the entire building. They made it feel like our home for the weekend! My wedding was a everything I ever wanted. It truly felt like a movie! I can’t imagine having it anything other than at The Morehead Inn.

They were so personable, helpful and attentive to anything we needed throughout the weekend, all while making us feel safe with their Covid precautions. We had a wedding ceremony, reception and rehearsal dinner at the Inn with the wedding party and family members staying in the various rooms. Each room was beautiful and had its own personality and decor; the beds were comfortable and the venue was perfect for the bridal party and groomsmen to have their own separate areas. Dorrys, the Inn’s event coordinator was wonderful to work with and jumped through hoops to help us pull off our vision for a rehearsal dinner in just a couple of hours, four days before the event!! The food was super yummy at each event and all of our guests raved about the food and service. If you’re looking for an amazing wedding venue with impeccable service look no further!!

sy to work with. Our original wedding venue in Charleston, SC closed unexpectedly, and we had to recreate our entire wedding in two short months. Needless to say, we needed flexibility, and Dorrys went above and beyond to work with us and our budget. Everything about our wedding and reception went off without a hitch. Dorrys and our day-of wedding coordinator stayed in constant contact with each other and with us to make sure everyone stayed on the same page. The food was catered by Charlotte favorite Something Classic. It's been a month and our guests are still raving about the appetizers and the dinner they provided. The bar and wait staff were professional and attentive, also. As for the Inn itself, we loved it so much that we reserved all 12 rooms for guests. There were beautiful and unique rooms for pictures and for the bride and groom parties to get ready on the wedding day. If you are planning a wedding in Charlotte, NC, do not overlook this gem!

During the wedding there was a severe thunderstorm, and, even though a tent was in place, all the gutters let out onto the covered patio and the ground was a pool. Due to the lightning, they decided to move the wedding inside. This escalated to a screaming match between the on-site wedding coordinator and the family. It was incredibly stressful and not the environment any bride desires for her special day.

From failure to get necessary tent permits after 100 reminders, to gutters that drain into their only outdoor space and flood it into a lake, to forcing guests to move furniture when their outdoor space flooded, to multiple cancelled menu tastings, to one of 2 toilets for 100 guests put out of commission before the ceremony started, to serving buffet style after guests paid for individually cooked breakfasts, topped with arrogant and anti-customer behavior on the part of their "wedding coordinator", my strong suggestion is RUN FROM HERE!

to finish. She listened to my description of how we wanted our wedding to look and feel and went over and above to make that happen. It could not have been more perfect and I can’t thank her enough. Even when we were dealing with the possibility of rain she gave us all the options and let us know we had the final say so. There was never any pressure or stress through the whole process. Chef Myra was absolutely perfect. We wanted to do something a little different and she jumped right on board. She had so many great suggestions and the food was absolutely fantastic. You don’t often say that about wedding reception food but I’m still getting messages about how great the food was! Every staff member that worked there was so friendly and warm. They made my family feel just like we were staying in their personal house. I wouldn’t have changed a single thing! I will recommend the Morehead Inn to anyone looking for a venue that gives you that personal attention and intimate feeling.

The staff at the Inn pulled off everything for my event flawlessly. Everyone was so nice and my event planner truly helped me create the wedding of my dreams! I loved having guests be able to stay right there at the Inn the night of the wedding and then getting to have a wonderful breakfast all together the next morning. The food was absolutely delicious (both on the wedding day and for breakfast). I'm so thankful I found this gem early in the wedding planning process. I would chose the venue again in a heartbeat! If you want a southern, elegant wedding that makes you feel like you're right at home when you are getting married, then definitely check out the MHI!

mended by my wedding Planner, Angela, who told us that they would accommodate our every need. This was important to us b/c would be showcasing my Lao culture, which means the food above all else had to be precise. In Sept 2013, we went to go visit the space and the Coordinator there, Jackie, told us that the Chef would be able to customize our menu & if there are dishes that he wouldn’t be able to replicate, they would allow for outside catering. April 4th was the date that the final head count was due as well as the remaining balance. The invoice amount was wrong & it showed us being charged for the tasting. Angela she said that she would consult with Billy and Kaylie. She told me not to pay & said that we would clear the issue by the weekend. She also told me that she worked on a wedding with them in the past where the couple did not pay MHI until the day of their wedding so we should be fine. We received the revised invoice over the weekend and upon reviewing it w/ Angela; we were not able to conclude how they came up with the calculation. April 7th I asked Kaylie to revise it so I knew exactly what I was being charged for. She said that the Accounting Dept would not be able to provide this for me but that if we got overcharged, they would refund us after the wedding. So essentially, they ask us to pay them based on good faith but the ironic thing is that there was no good faith on their part b/c what happened next is obvious who Billy, the owner, is and how he treats his clients. We agreed to make the pymt on April 8th even though we didn’t agree with the amount we were charged for. I emailed Kaylie that morning and said that my fiancé would call her with the credit card number, which she told us was ok to do. By midday, we received an email from Kaylie who said that Billy told her to tell us that they would no longer take our cc and that the only form of pymt he would accept would be cash or cashier’s check or our event would be cancelled. We were shocked by this since our agreement stated that credit card is the appropriate form of pymt. We sent Billy our cc info & told him that he could run the transaction since that was a valid form of payment in our contract. The next day he sent us a threatening email demanding cash and that he would take us to court b/c we breached our contract by cancelling our event. We reminded him that he was the one that said our event would be cancelled if we didn’t provide the other form of pymt and because of his nasty behavior; we did not want do business with him anymore. On April 10th he ran our credit card without notifying us and told Angela that we could still have our event there. We were livid that Billy charged our card after he cancelled our event and demanded we pay him in cash. We ended up having to pay them the $6k but we did not have our event with them because we could not trust them after all this. The way we were treated caused my fiancé and I so much stress during our final days before our big day. For all those who fall in love with the MHI, let me forewarn you that the owner Billy is not someone who you can depend on to treat you like a bride deserves. Feel free to contact me for details.

se of bad weather it was perfect. I had about 125 guests and there was plenty of room for them all. Since it's an old house the rooms are separated, which was great for the DJ. People could dance in one room and those who wanted to talk weren't overwhelmed by the music. The staff was also fantastic.

e're going to get married there again and have an evening reception and 'do it up right'.;It's quite expensive - if you have a Saturday evening wedding, you're required to rent out the entire estate. BUT - it's totally worth it if you're having that many people anyway. It was only 1,750 to rent the whole Inn (not including overnight stays).
