Joanna is a hospitality professional with over 10 years of experience in catering sales and event management most recently in luxury hospitality at the Fairmont Pittsburgh. As Director of catering, she specializes in creating unforgettable weddings and special events combining creativity with a keen eye for detail. Joanna has earned her bachelors degree from California University of Pennsylvania. She is passionate about turning each clients vision into a seamless, memorable experience. Outside of Weddings, she channels her energy and enthusiasm as an indoor cycling coach and enjoys traveling to discover new places and inspiration for her events.

After endlessly searching for a venue we cannot put into words how lucky we feel to have picked The Oaklander. From our initial tour to the day of the wedding we felt so supported....

The entire staff at the hotel went above and beyond from Lauren helping as soon as we signed the contract all the way up to the dance floor opening. Caitlin made booking rooms (even after we filled our initial room block) so easy, John and Charles made sure the days we were at the hotel we were well taken care of, and the rest of the staff was so kind and helpful. The venue was the perfect location and stunning with the fall colors surrounding the hotel, the food was the best wedding food we have ever had, the accommodations to get ready as well as stay were perfect, and our post wedding brunch for family was a big hit. If you're looking for a venue where you can do everything in one space we truly cannot recommend The Oaklander enough!

s and she worked perfectly with my wedding planner Jade from Joyful Events by Jade. It was really great to see that Joanna had a relationship with Jade even before coming to The Oaklander and that truly speaks to both Joanna and Jade in their standing in the wedding community. Joanna's attention to detail is unmatched. She even tracked down a 6 pack of Diet Coke for me since the hotel carries Pepsi. From our productive final meeting to letting us store items in her office, she made everything run smoothly. When my booked suite was unavailable on Friday, she went above and beyond by upgrading us to the Presidential Suite which made getting ready ten times easier so shout out to her for that. Seeing her at the rehearsal and throughout the wedding day gave us so much peace of mind that she was there working along with Jade to make my vision come to life. She made sure that my welcome bags got to the front desk and handed out to our guest who booked in our room block even going as far as having someone delivery them to our early arrivals on Thursday. We also have to give a huge shoutout to John. He was so much more than just help with our bags. He remembered us every time we saw him and truly impressed our guests with his kindness and great conversation. Caitlin was also with me from the start to the end and she made having a room block with the hotel so simple and she always answered all my emails, worked with adding additional rooms and made it soooo easy for me. The venue itself is stunning and spacious. The terrace and bar area with city view windows made for a perfect cocktail hour. It never felt crowded and our guests loved being able to step out for fresh air. Every staff member we encountered was professional and helpful. We could not have asked for a better team or setting for our big day. If I had a redo I would use The Oaklander as my venue again.

the 10th floor and it provided so much space for everyone to dance, sit, and even a terrace for a cigar bar! The entire planning process was great from start to finish and the food was amazing from cocktail hour to dinner and late night bites! We also used the Oaklander for our room block which was perfect for guest accessibility and were also able to host a brunch the next morning. We highly recommend if you are looking for something different than one big room!

team continued to add to the block as there was availability. For the bridesmaids, they brought up additional studio chairs and extension cords to ensure that we could get ready easily. The floor to ceiling windows were the perfect backdrop for photos and the rooms were comfortable. Our guests also had very positive things to say about the staff during their stays. We also spent Friday and Saturday evening going to Spirits & Tales and enjoyed the drinks and atmosphere in the bar area.

ur ceremony at Phipps and this was a great location to be close. The staff at The Oaklander are the best of the best. If you are looking to plan a wedding, or any part of a special event I highly recommend this venue. They went above and beyond to get us a gorgeous location to have our first look photos, planned a special menu for our private brunch, and worked tirelessly with me to make sure the rooms for our guests were all perfect for early check-in, late check-out, or whatever the specific needs were. They also booked us all on the same floor so it was so much fun to be able to visit back and forth. We worked with Diontae for coordination for rooms and he was a dream. Being a 2020 bride brought special challenges and Diontae made sure everything was perfect. Ben worked to coordinate our brunch menu and was also very accommodating. The Oaklander gets high praise from us for making our event perfect!

We had a hotel block at The Oaklander for our wedding in May 2019 and we couldn't be happier! We had many out-of-town guests coming in for the wedding, most of which stayed at the...

hotel. Emily Semmelroth and all of the staff were so wonderful from start to finish. Before we arrived, they did their best to make sure that everyone was on a similar floor/near each other and also checked to see if there were any special requests. They allowed us to borrow various items for our hair and makeup teams and other items that we needed for the day of celebrations in our suite. They even brought us a mini fridge to our room to keep our wedding cake in! We rented the Presidential Suite for the weekend, which was INCREDIBLE!! It was such a beautiful room, so spacious, and perfect for getting ready on the wedding day! The best part is that it has 2 bathrooms and the bedroom/private bathroom closes off. The hotel is centrally located in Oakland, which was perfect for our Heinz Chapel/Carnegie Music Hall wedding. The restaurant/bar were perfect meeting places for the night before the wedding and the morning after brunch. We really cannot say enough great things about this hotel! They were so very wonderful to work with and so welcoming to us and all of our guests! We highly recommend them for your wedding blocks or just to stay for a few days!
