This extraordinary establishment was originally constructed to serve St. Johannes Lutheran Church and now stands as an exquisite property for hosting elegant celebrations. The Parsonage graciously accommodates events of various natures, and its dedicated staff provides invaluable assistance to couples embarking on their journey down the aisle. Positioned in a prime location, with the city's most captivating attractions just steps away, it offers guests a convenient opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant essence of Charleston. The Parsonage at St. Johannes has indoor and open-air outdoor event spaces for your celebration. The intimate courtyard with its surrounding garden makes for a private retreat in which to celebrate. This grand historic home has spacious rooms on the first level and two landmark Charleston piazzas overlooking the courtyard. Hand-forged wrought iron gates add to the classic ambience of this setting. Additionally, a catering kitchen and private guest kitchen facilitate preparing meals. The Parsonage at St. Johannes staff is all about hospitality. They will work with you to help you make your wedding dreams come true. You can select your own caterer, with suggestions upon request.

What a privilege it is to introduce myself as the manager of The Parsonage and to invite you to make beautiful memories in this magical venue that was once the residence of pastors of St. Johannes Lutheran Church for over a hundred years. The house is still owned by the church, and was converted into a wedding venue in 2015. It gives me great pleasure to have the private intimate garden and house ready for each of our wedding couples and their families. I look forward to meeting you!

Stunning venue that incorporates the best Charleston has to offer! The Parsonage feels like you own a piece of the city for a weekend - from the lush private garden to the beautifully decorated interior residence. You can choose between a garden, small chapel, or large church for your ceremony. All of your wedding photos will be amazing because of the tall windows and natural light throughout! The bridal suite is the perfect place to get ready for the day with tons of veranda space. Barbara who runs the Parsonage could not be easier to work with. She is amazing and takes great care and pride in every event hosted here. Could not recommend the Parsonage more highly. 10/10!

My daughter was married at the Parsonage on the first of May. We and our guests all came in from Michigan, so we were not very familiar with the area other than internet research. The Parsonage exceeded all expectations. Barbara, the manager, was fantastic, she went above and beyond to make sure the event was a success. The location is very walkable to all the attractions, so it was a great place to meet up and then go explore. The three large bedrooms upstairs were very comfortable and were excellent photo backdrops for the bride and groom getting ready for the wedding. The wedding and dinner were held outside in the garden surrounded by hanging lights, flowers and greenery. The food catered by Duvall Catering was phenomenal, as was the cake from Tenacious Tart. Before and after, the guests mingled indoors in the beautifully decorated rooms and outside on the gorgeous piazza. The garden became the dancefloor. Every direction you looked was a beautiful photo opportunity. Our guests were amazed at all the charm The Parsonage held. We would highly recommend The Parsonage and Duvall Catering.

Undoubtedly, having my wedding at The Parsonage was one of the best decisions, I’ve ever made!! If you’re looking for a true Charlestonian venue, look no further. With multiple options on the property, to have your ceremony, you’re sure to fall in love. Being able to stay for a week, with loved ones, was one of many selling points. You’re in the heart of downtown, within walking distance of all historic Charleston has to offer. Barbara Pace, the manager is a gem!! Graceful, professional and passionate, she takes tremendous pride in The Parsonage, and will help you craft the wedding of your dreams!!

The Parsonage is Charleston's hidden gem of a venue. This secret oasis is such a unique venue. Barbara, the property Director, is so kindhearted and poised, she makes the planning process easy and relaxed. She is committed to keeping the integrity of the home and grounds in pristine condition, and the venue really reflects that!. If you are looking for a beautiful venue in a stress-free environment, The Parsonage is perfect! We enjoy working at The Parsonage, and know our clients are in great hands!
