We knew right away that The Raritan Inn was the perfect choice for our wedding day! We truly had the wedding of our dreams here! We held our ceremony outside down by the river (absolutely gorgeous spot), our cocktail hour and dancing in the barn (magical with the lights at night), and our reception/dinner in a tent outside of the barn (perfectly suited and decorated as we had designed). We had the Inn to ourselves from Friday morning through Sunday morning, so we had plenty of time to set up our decor on Friday, have our rehearsal dinner that evening, and then our wedding on Saturday. Our close friends and family stayed with us at the Inn all weekend, which was really fun and convenient! Marcia and Brooke were so helpful and made sure that we had everything that we need. We had a delicious breakfast on both days and everything went so perfectly! We couldn't have been happier to have our special day here and highly recommend it to others!!
We held our wedding at the Raritan Inn and we are SO glad we did! From the beginning of our search, Marcia was super helpful in answering questions, allowing us to tour the premises, and providing insight into any wedding issues that we had. We were able to use the Inn for the whole weekend, which made the rehearsal dinner and wedding so wonderfully connected. Our ceremony took place outside, next to a small river. It was about a 4 minute walk from away from the barn and tent. It was absolutely perfect. The tent had our reception seating, and the barn was reserved for dancing and drinks! Marcia even had beautiful, dark wood farm tables that we were able to use, as well as a bunch of leftover decorations that we could use. We were able to use the Inn to get ready in, which made it so nice for our friends and family. During our reception we even had a fire pit with s'mores that Marcia helped us light!! People are still telling us a month later about how amazing and beautiful the venue was.
During our wedding weekend, the staff had breakfast prepared for us each morning. They even went above and beyond accommodating our vegan dietary choice. The Inn was super cozy and the rooms were beautiful! Everything was clean and prepped for us, and the staff at the Inn were super helpful with any questions or last minute things that came up!
We would highly recommend having your wedding at this beautiful, unique location!!
Marcia and Bill did an exceptional job of accommodating all of our family and friends. We had a very large wedding of 180 people, and they worked with us to make it a wedding weekend of our dreams. Our closest family stayed directly at the inn and we had a delicious breakfast for the bridesmaids as we got ready on the day of our wedding. We also enjoyed the beautiful barn for both cocktail hour and a breakfast the next day. It was a beautiful place to not only celebrate, but also rest our heads. We will for sure be visiting again.
The Raritan Inn was the perfect canvas for our bespoke wedding. Although we sometimes felt overwhelmed booking each and every aspect of the wedding (rentals, tents, golf cart, caterer, bathroom trailer, etc) it was beyond worth it, and Marcia the Innkeeper was amazing to work with. The Inn is beautiful, and full of history, but we never felt like we were in someone's fancy room that no one touches. We loved it here!
John, the innkeeper, is wonderful and makes you feel like family. Use of the inn is from Friday afternoon through Sunday, which includes the 5 rooms. I had our stylist come to us in the morning which was great with the fantastic breakfast John and his staff prepared. You can elect to have your rehearsal dinner on the grounds, which we did not. We also did not have our actual wedding ceremony there, as we wanted to be in a church. We had a tent put up and used the barn in our cocktail hour. Everyone loved the venue and the whole look. However, the issue was the value. The owners have a charge, on top of the $6500 for the venue, based on number of guests. Considering vendors provide chairs and food and service for the guests and the Inn is just the location, this is absurd. The rationale was "wear and tear on the grounds". Can't part of that $6500 go towards that? Also, they now require that the tent come down on Sunday morning before noon. Nothing like having an awesome wedding then being forced to rush around the next morning to clear up remaining decor so you can then have the tent rental company, all of whom charge extra for Sunday pickup, be able to take the tent down. Our contract was prior to this stipulation and we thought we had cleared everything up to still have a Monday pickup but somehow the guys still showed up on Sunday, putting a severe damper on our delicious family breakfast when we had to rush out to take down 100 paper lanterns. Part of this was Statr Rental Company's fault, part the fault of the owners of the Inn.
Nearest hotel for guests is Courtyard Marriott in Lebanon, who you can arrange shuttles with. Overall, the site is beautiful, the staff wonderful, some of the charges and fine print ridiculous.
Getting married outside and having an outdoor reception is difficult in New Jersey. Most places don't offer outdoor receptions and those that do are very expensive and have a minimum number of guests that need to attend. I chose to search for a bed and breakfast to have our wedding and I could not have selected a more perfect place!
The Raritan Inn is a gorgeous, renovated historic home. We rented the inn for the entire weekend, which was amazing because we were able to arrive Friday afternoon and have our rehearsal dinner and go over logistics for the day of. Saturday was great, the Inn Keeper, John Bovill, made the whole family a delicious breakfast. We used the inn to get ready, with the ladies getting hair and makeup done in the dining room and men in the game room downstairs.
The inn is on a large piece of property next to a river, which makes a gorgeous setting for a wedding. They also have a barn with finished floors which held our cocktail hour and dancing.
This inn was the perfect setting for our upscale country wedding. It was a gorgeous place with amazing people. I can't wait to make a trip back to stay for a weekend!
We fell in love with the Raritan Inn when we first visited it in the Spring. It was exactly what we were looking for, a non-traditional venue that had character, warmth, charm and endless possibilities for our Fall 2011 wedding. As our wedding weekend rapidly approached, both the owner Marcia and Innkeeper John helped answer ALL of our questions (and we often asked the same question 2-3 times!) and concerns, particularly about the logistics of the weekend. We were able to visit the Inn throughout our planning process in order to help us more fully envision our day and also to ensure that we had the correct measurements etc for our DIY decorations and projects. The weekend of our wedding, John, the Innkeeper was indispensible – helping with the delivery of some of our rentals, checking our Inn guests in, and problem solving some last minute details that we overlooked in the planning process. The guests that stayed at the Inn with us were blown away by the beauty and character of the Inn itself. The rooms were warm and cozy (especially with the fireplaces in the bedrooms!) and John made each of us feel at home in the common areas. The breakfasts at the Inn are absolutely amazing! John took time out of his busy schedule to answer questions about the Inn’s history, as well as some of the natural history of the area.
We are thrilled that we chose the Raritan Inn for our wedding. Our guests are still talking about the venue, and how unique and intimate the setting was. We were fortunate to hold our ceremony outside, down by the river and we couldn’t have chosen a more beautiful backdrop. The barn and rented tent made for a one of a kind setting for our cocktail hour and reception. Our only regret is that the entire weekend went way too fast for us and we can’t remember all of the details and wish we could turn back time to that weekend.
The Raritan Inn exceeded our expectations. Thank you John and Marcia for helping us with the wedding experience we had dreamed of, we would highly recommend the Raritan Inn to anyone!
