The Sherwood Inn

We had the most amazing wedding last month at the Sherwood. Shelly was incredible; she was there for us every step of the way. Everyone asks if there is anything we would have done differently. My answer is always the same. Not a thing. It was a perfect, magical evening.

So happy we chose Sherwood Inn for our wedding ceremony, reception and accommodations. To say the staff went above and beyond would be an understatement. This beautiful, historic Inn has incredible food, exquisitely decorated rooms, a fun pub an amazing continental breakfast and spectacular views of the village and lake. We couldn’t have asked for more.

We had our wedding reception at the Sherwood Inn and it was beautiful -- The entire hotel was decorated in a nostalgic Christmas atmosphere and the rooms were comfy and relaxing. The food for the reception was outstanding – many of the guests complimented the menu – and the staff was exceptionally helpful and courteous. Shelly and Meredith, wedding coordinators, were so helpful to us… having a wedding 4 hours away could have been very difficult, but they were prompt and helpful and always cheerful. We always visit the Sherwood when we come to Skaneateles and I’m thrilled we chose this site for our reception.

Amazing venue. Small and quant and perfect for our small family wedding! The food was delicious and they kept us on track of our timeline!

We had our wedding reception at the Sherwood Inn August 2015 for about 125 people. The staff (Meghan and Meredith) were so helpful from day one...always offering helpful suggestions and being very, very flexible. The day of went perfectly...I was able to have so much fun at our wedding knowing that they had everything under control...even with a surprise appearance from some Irish step-dancers! The food was delicious and the venue is so beautiful with the view of the summer sunset over Skaneateles Lake.

We had our rehearsal dinner at the Sherwood and it was perfect. The food was excellent, service was good and they had an entire section of the restaurant was reserved for us. They even let us host an open bar after the dinner. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that their communication leading up to the event could have been better.

I cannot say enough about our experience with the Sherwood Inn for our wedding. Without considering the food, service or anything, the location is simply adorable for a summer wedding. The lake is right across the street, which you can see from the dining room. It is a lovely town for guests to walk around, as well as a great place for wedding party photos. There are even bars down the street for after the reception if that is needed. The staff was wonderful from day one. When asked if something would be possible, the manager, Nadine, always cheerfully responded "Certainly!" Always flexible and accommodating. The food is simply to die for. The filet is absolutely exceptional, as is everything else. The convenience and charm of the Patisserie bakery behind the Sherwood was just a bonus. Michael, the head chef at Patisserie, is just as lovely, funny and accommodating. It is not an inexpensive venue, but most looking to consider Skaneateles likely would expect that. It was everything I had hoped for.

I highly recommend Sherwood Inn for those who either want an intimate wedding in spring/fall or a grand "dream" wedding in the summer. The property is surrounded by 180 degrees of rocky shoreline complimented with tiny cottages and a main inn. It's old Muskoka and it's natural beauty sets the right tone for a wedding that is utterly beautiful inside and out!

Our daughter was not your typical bride! Originally, she wanted nothing to do with a wedding! She loved her husband to be as did we, but she in no way wanted to be the center of attention for a day...she NEVER dreamed of walking down the aisle in a white gown. From our very first meeting with Nadine, the Sherwood's event planner, my daughters vision was understood. This was not our experience previously as an encounter with another wedding planner at a different venue...ended with her screaming in our faces that she put the "Fun in Function"! It was apparent she did not "get" us! Nadine took our vision and ran with it creating an event that was elegant, intimate and so much fun! We had our wedding the weekend before Thanksgiving and the staff was very willing to alter the menu to include stuffing and cranberries! The food was superb and all our friends are still talking about the shrimp served. The service was impeccable and all were so professional but also so fun. The bartender, chef and servers made their way into our wedding photos...they all added to the fun. The attention to detail was stellar. At the end of the evening all of our daughter's gifts were sent to her room along with two plates of food for she and her husband. Our wedding menu included a Venetian table and all of the leftovers plus our extra cake were boxed and placed in our room along with the stereo system we had brought to provide the music. What a treat to simply walk upstairs after the reception and not have to worry about a thing! It was such a luxury! My fear is that people will rule out the Sherwood as too expensive before they even take the time to price it. As we started to look around , the Sherwood offered the most for our wedding dollar. The added benefit was that Nadine made every request come true and she was so skilled at altering their options to meet our specific tastes and requests. She was a dream to work with. For our daughter and her husband, many of their friends traveled from Buffalo NY and stayed at the Sherwood. It truly became a destination wedding only two hours from home! We also booked rooms at the Holiday Inn and all of their friends were treated to a gorgeous late fall weekend complete with sunny skies and mild temps. The evening was truly magical and the best part was the smiles on our daughter and son-in-laws faces throughout the entire event! Due to the expertise of Nadine and the staff at the Sherwood, a "dream" wedding that fit within our budget unfolded! I cannot thank them all enough. P.S....We did spend the night and early the following morning, my only and newly married daughter crept down the hall to our room and clad in our pj's we headed downstairs grabbed cups of coffee and sat by the wood burning fire in their foyer recapping the night...a moment I will forever cherish!

all of my guests loved this place. we had the ceremony on site then moved directly inside for cocktail hour, took pictures right across the street at the lake, had the whole wedding party and our families stay at the inn... the whole thing was really convenient and stress-free. i would recommend this venue to anyone.
