The Tilghman Island Inn

We chose Tilghman Island Inn for our wedding because it combined a few key elements we wanted: adventurous food, an outdoor setting, and an ambience that is both casual and elegant. We had a final count of 106 guests, and we both come from families for whom food is important. (If you want glamor and have 300 relatives, Tilghman isn't for you, but...) We had eaten at the Inn in the past. We went after an adventurous and elegant menu for the wedding and the Inn delivered in spades. Yet the owner and staff of the Inn also provided a lot of sage advice about how to incorporate delicious options for our less adventurous guests. In the months since our wedding, numerous people have told us our wedding dinner was some of the best food they have ever had, and not just "for a wedding." We also had guests traveling from all over the country. In order to avoid shuttling tired guests across St. Michaels, MD for a rehearsal dinner, we had that event at Tilghman also. I was very reluctant to do this at first. In the end, the Inn did a great job of playing up the casual aspect of the location, and delivered an entirely different menu and event. The staff were delightful to work with. They worked hard on our behalf for our entire wedding weekend. The bartender, Michael, is a delight. His wit is just as enjoyable as his skill as a mixologist. I think the moment I appreciated most was during the dinner, one of the wait staff brought me an extra plate of food, without having been asked. She said "I just want to make sure you've taken a moment to eat something and that you get to enjoy each dish." I hadn't, and it was perfect. The weather happened to be perfect on the day of our fall wedding. Tilghman also offers a beautiful view of the Chesapeake Bay. We got married outside on the lawn next to the water. It's a setting that is perfect for couples who want an out-door, casual wedding, without sacrificing sophistication and service.
