I booked my wedding block at the Westin River North and had an awful experience; I definitely wouldn't recommend it.
First off, they use an online booking system for their wedding blocks and it kept telling our guests that the block was full when it wasn't. The Westin expected ME to reach out to guest that tried to book to explain the error; however they did not even know who tried to book. I am not contacting 200 people to see which ones got error messages.
Our contact with the hotel kept changing and we were finally (somewhat) consistent with Latanya Grandberry but she honestly wasn't much help as she doesn't work weekends and basically just said, "oh oops sorry" for any issue we had.
Next, my parents' room was all screwed up. They were unable to check in when promised and the woman at the front desk was rude and unprofessional. Again, Latanya was not there to assist.
They then charged us DOUBLE what our price on our room reservation email was and said that their fine print pointed out that the rate listed was per person and since my new husband and I both stayed there, it was double what was written. We still can't find the fine print.
Overall, this was the worst experience of my wedding. Unfortunately it was too late to book another hotel so we had to deal. I am sure the Westin doesn't care as they got their money from all of our guests and us, but I am hoping to let other couples out there know -- STAY AWAY!

We had our reception here in June of 2017 and could not have asked for a better venue in the city. You can't beat this venue if you are looking for a mix of outdoor and indoor space. Our guests cant' stop talking about how much they loved the outdoor terrace along the Chicago river... What a beautiful view at night with the city lit up. We got some amazing pictures with our guests and the wedding party here. The grand ballroom is also just perfect. The Westin did an awesome job holding our reception here. Katya was very easy to work with and from the beginning sat down with us and listened to our needs and our budget. The only bummer was switching hotel rooms 3 times that weekend, but we got to spend a night in the Presidential Suite and wow, never stayed in a room quite like that! They made us feel like royalty the whole day. If we had to do it all over again, we would definitely stay with the Westin River North.

We booked a wedding block at the Westin River North. There were a couple frustrating communications issues but we thought the value was excellent. Love the location right on the river and even the standard rooms are quite large. Our guests from out of town loved exploring the city from that spot, and we loved getting ready in the hotel. They'll make you pay to deliver or hand a note/package to your guests at check-in, which is annoying. The lobby is large so it serves as a great meeting place throughout the weekend with a large indoor/outdoor bar. We met with around 10 hotels and liked the Westin the best, and they were one of the most affordable! Really good value for wedding blocks, with no minimum requirement or additional fees.

We used the Westin River North for both our room block as well as welcome drinks the night before our wedding. Working with the Westin was an absolute nightmare. We were continually passed off to different points of contact, phone calls weren't returned, and email responses did not clarify questions. They made a big issue out of adding extra rooms to our block when were told initially it wouldn't be a problem. Multiple guests had issues booking rooms which was embarrassing. We booked 4 suites with them along with 50 guests rooms which I felt was a significant amount, but did not receive any perks or discounts.
We were originally told if in-climate weather for our welcome drinks we would be in a room in the restaurant that was nothing special so my husband was very resistant to them about being inside. When it was apparent we would be inside due to rain we ended up in a beautiful room at the lower level. I wish they had informed us in advance this is where we were going to be so that we weren't stressed about it. After multiple conversations about payment they charged the welcome drinks to the wrong credit card which was a mess for us to sort out while on our honeymoon out of the country. However, at this point we were not surprised by the error. The rooms at the Westin were very nice and overall we had a wonderful weekend, luckily things worked out. However, if you are looking for customer service and helpful staff I would not recommend the Westin for your wedding block.

When looking for wedding venues, we wanted a one-stop shop in the heart of Chicago. We also wanted something with a view - something out of town guests would enjoy, and what better place for that then right on the Chicago River? The terrace overlooks the Chicago River at street level - at night, the sight was incredible. The Astor Ballroom was the perfect size for our wedding and has a very neoclassical feel to it. The staff there was amazing to work with - Elyse Moore and team did a wonderful job from the beginning to end of our wedding process and we were so happy with how the event turned out!
