Where to begin... Well we chose this hotel initially because of the location (right next to the gorgeous city hall) and the catering coordinator for our wedding was just wonderful. She was pretty much the only redeeming quality about this hotel and she doesn't work there anymore. There was quite a few things that went wrong but i'll just point out the major things : extra charges after the wedding day with no explanation as to why (I had to email them and ask them for an itemized bill that I ended up just paying it to make it go away), the hotel block we reserved months in advance was overbooked and our guests were made to stay in single rooms even though their requests were for doubles, security was incredibly rude and wouldn't allow us to take pictures in the hotel courtyard (and we were getting married there!), and lastly with all the trouble and all the money we spent they make it seem like "yeah you can earn points towards your honeymoon!"...NO YOU DON'T. We spent a lot of money for our wedding and we barely got any points at all. It wasn't enough for ONE night at our honeymoon hotel. All that trouble for nothing. Honestly, we just feel incredibly disappointed because we've stayed at many Westins before and have had great experiences. It's just a shame the worst one just so happened to be the one we had our wedding at.
Our Wedding was amazing to say the least. It was brilliantly set up and decorated by Kat our amazing wedding coordinator. So I am not going to let The Westin ruin our experience by charging us outrageous amounts that were not brought up beforehand, but we cant help tossing and turning about some situations regarding this venue.
The venue itself was extraordinary and that is really the sole reason why we chose this location. Unfortunately though it is the Westin and with the Westin came several issues that in two words can be simply described as "Hidden Fee's".
In the end, we ended up paying about 40% more then the contracted amount. Expect to pay about 30,000 for hosting an outside catered package and 45,000 plus for an in house catered package. Keep in mind that the hotel will present a contract to you that will show a minimum much less than the actual cost.
Additional fees everywhere, from 24% service fee, to 9% tax that is levied on the product and the service fee. Soda is not included!
Here is another example: If you would like to have soda service ( which is not included, only water and tea is) then expect to pay $8 per can. I guess we were lucky enough to negotiate it to $8 per person, but as you can see the bill keeps adding up.
After the wedding, our honeymoon present from the westin was an additional bill of $1691.23 for 2 power drops. What are power drops? Well our catering manager from the westin hasn't been able to explain this to us yet.
WORST part about this is that the hotel will have a credit card on file. Like the bill or not, it will be charged to your credit card.
My advice, try another location. If I were to do it over again, I would stay away from the Westin.
Best wishes in your Wedding and try not to get stressed after the fact like we did!
If you want to have one of the most stressful wedding planning experiences possible, then deal with the Westin Pasadena. It was all sweetness and care until we signed the contract. After that it was nearly impossible to get in touch with the catering manager, there were several hidden costs they were not upfront about, they are not accommodating AT ALL. They would tell us one thing verbally, and then contradict what they said in writing. We had issues up until the day before the wedding. I truly wish we had gone with a different venue.
To make matters worse, we are now being charged for additional fees two week post wedding. These fees were never discussed with us, and we never approved them. Thanks Westin, for giving us a stressful start to our marriage.
Let me just start by saying I am usually not the type to write these reviews, but I am soooo disappointed with my experience at the Westin Pasadena. The venue overall is clean and nice but the customer service in HORRIBLE. I would certainly expect MUCH better customer service from an establishment that advertises their 4-diamond award.
We had several issues come up over the course of the wedding planning and the wedding weekend itself. I had 4 different catering managers over the course of a little bit less than a year and had to explain what I needed each time. And the catering managers are nice and polite - when you can get a hold of them. I left messages and emails - and did not receive any responses. It was only when I called again and IF someone happened to pick up the phone that I get any sort of answer.
Also - I had my wedding hairpiece inadvertantly cleaned or cleared from my hotel room and also had extremely poor customer service in trying to resolve this. Of course I did not receive it back, but I was given reward points.
Which brings me to my last topic - I received 1 point/$3 spent but not including parking, service charge, and tax, which I did not know up front. I would have assumed 1 point/$1 - but whatever. But it took me over 1 month to receive these points with "no black out dates"....when rooms available . But it really doesn't matter - because even though there are "no black out dates" - I have found "no rooms available" often for the dates and hotels that I need. So bottom line - if you don't care about customer service and being treated in a professional manner - the Westin Pasadena is the place for you.
We used the Westin Pasadena for our the guest accommodations in our recent Pasadena wedding. The sales team was beyond FRUSTRATING to work with. Slow response time is an understatement. We were unable to get ahold of our contact and often times when we did, we were told we needed to contact someone else. It took days and sometimes a week or more to get a response from the sales manager.
The rooms were nice and the service was pretty good once we checked in but I would never use them for another event.
They have restrictions on what you can and cannot do, but the food was great!
I wanted to be married in one of my favorite cities and the Westin Pasadena was a perfect place to have our reception. It is located just behind the Pasadena City Hall, which is a gorgeous building, and we were so happy to have our beautiful pictures taken there. One of the main reasons we chose the Westin was the Fountain Ballroom secluded from the rest of the meeting rooms at the Westin, therefore the foyer of the ballroom was private, allowing only our guests to be in the area. The service was great, and our wedding reception coordinator was accommodating to our needs. The decor is modern and thus also great to take pictures in the hotel as well.
