Trailhead Creative - Photo & Video

M + K are hands down THE BEST photographers in their field. From the first call we had (back in 2019) I knew that we had to hire them. They wanted to know all about us as a couple and as individuals and they even made photo/video packages specific to our needs and named them based off of Disney parks (since that is where we got engaged). Even though we had to make the tough decision to postpone our wedding, M + K we’re there every step of the way and supported us during that difficult time. Having them do our engagement and wedding photos/video was one of the best decisions we made. We’ve now known them for a little over 2 years and they feel more like family than a vendor we hired for our special day! Their excitement for our wedding was what made the experience absolutely amazing! They even gave us the cutest little sneak peak of photos at the reception and I honestly cannot wait to see the rest!

Michael and Kristin are so incredibly kind and talented. They went ABOVE AND BEYOND in every way possible. At first, we were just looking to have someone livestream our microwedding (thanks, covid), so that we could at the very least have those we could no longer invite, join us virtually. We searched and searched for a videographer that fit our style, our needs, and our budget. Finally, we came across Michael and Kristin’s website and we knew we wanted and had to have more than just a livestream. Michael and Kristin’s films are so beautiful and artfully done, and tailored to each of their couples’ styles. They made us feel so incredibly comfortable. They captured us in our natural state, just let us have our moments and do our thing- we hardly knew they were there! That being said, they definitely gave us direction when they knew they could get an incredible shot! And now, after having lived our wedding day, we know for CERTAIN that it does go by in the blink of an eye, and knowing that Michael and Kristin were there documenting every treasured moment was so comforting. We’re now able to relive this day again and again, share it with family, and be able to pass it down to our children- it’s so incredibly special. We booked Michael and Kristin for our wedding and we are so happy we did, they made it so much more memorable especially for a wedding during COVID. Originally we were only looking for a simple live stream videographer since many of our friends and family weren’t able to attend, but we are so glad we booked M+K for their full service video package! Having a video to share with our loved ones became so much more meaningful after a year of sacrifices and distance. Now onto the fun stuff! We talked with Kristin to book and she was super warm and kind from the get go and very clear about their services and helping us shape a package that would work for us. In between the booking and day of, she was very communicative and easy to work with. She told us exactly when they’d be at the venue and what to expect and what they would need from us (which was very little). Day of, we met M+K for the first time and they immediately make you feel like you’re an old friend and you feel comfortable in front of the camera right away. They are both super friendly and easy going and work so well as a team! Having a husband and wife team is the way to go! They know each other’s movements so well and can coordinate seamlessly that they catch every important moment from all the good angles. While shooting they give encouraging feedback and tips on what to do or where to look without being overwhelming. During the big moments, you forget they’re there and can really soak it in. They let the moments with your husband or wife linger and don’t rush, but are not shy to ask you to look at the camera or do a certain movement that they know will look stellar on camera. We booked M+K from the first look into the reception and they captured all the moments and speeches perfectly! Our reception went a little long and our time with M+K was running out but they stayed a little later than scheduled to make sure they captured all the important moments. We can’t thank them for being so generous with their time and talents! After the big day, they delivered the video in the time frame they set. I’ve heard some stories from friends about their video being delayed and delayed again, but not from M+K! They tell you a time and stick to it. As for the video editing, we were blown away! We’ve pretty much had it on replay for months and it still makes me tear up a bit watching it. They picked a perfect song for the video and cut it brilliantly. All the special moments are there and even some that I don’t remember! M+K are such a terrific team and wonderful, talented people. I highly recommend them for wedding videography and I’d even recommend them for non-wedding videography cause I’m sure they make any event look amazing! Thanks again, Michael and Kristin!

Michael and Kristin really are the dream team. I found them on Instagram before I even knew I’d be looking for engagement photographers in Chicago because I loved their style, and jumped at the chance when the moment came! They were so flexible working with our quickly evolving plans (2020, need I say more?) and were down to help us organize our day from start to finish! Kristin is a master planner; she not only knows the answer, but has probably written a blog post about it and has a ready list of suggestions for every twist and turn. As a photographer myself, I thought when it came time for my own pictures I’d be ready to plan things out, but it is WAY different when it’s your own decisions to make! Kristin and Mike helped every step of the way, offering expertise from their experience with warmth and kindness. On the day it was so fun nerding out with Mike during our shoot about camera gear and shooting preferences, and he put my fiancé and I at ease immediately. I’m not used to being on the other side of the camera (and my partner is NOT a picture person) , but we felt instantly comfortable and supported by Mike’s directions! We had the space to just be ourselves, and by the end of the day we felt like supermodels. When we got the pictures back, they were exactly what I wanted and more: authentically us, natural, intimate, and beautiful to boot. They even included film scans and pictures I had no idea they’d taken (details and location pictures) that showed the character of the day so perfectly! Ok I’m done gushing, but seriously — we had an amazing experience getting to know them, and are going to treasure these photos forever. Thank you so much Mike and Kristin! For all 2020 has thrown at us, we have gorgeous photographic proof of a perfect day celebrating our partnership! Mike and Kristin worked WONDERS as our wedding videographers! They initially caught my eye when, on their website, it was clear that they made each of their videos unique to the couple--not one video was alike. They really made an effort to get to know us as a couple throughout the wedding planning process, were such a calming and lovely presence on the day, and our final video is truly breathtaking. They also provided the raw footage they took as well so we could really relive the day! Wow. Words don’t fully describe how amazing Mike and Kristin are! From engagement photos to day of wedding, they went above and beyond. Everyone was blown away by how awesome our pictures turned out. We hired Kristin and Mike to do our wedding video and we are so happy we did! We initially were not sure if we had the budget to do a video, but I am telling you their work is worth every penny. We really wanted a video in order to have full recordings of the ceremony & speeches. We got that and SO MUCH MORE. First off, Kristin & Mike are such an adorable duo. They are chill, easy to get along with, and so damn talented. There were a few instances when I was stressed about the timeline and my bridezilla started to come out, but Kristin, with her motherly voice, calmed me down and assured me we were doing just fine. I was so grateful for that. They also just felt like guests at our wedding who held small video equipment. I never felt overwhelmed by them or even noticed them filming, which made our video seem so real and natural. They also stayed longer than our photographer, willingly took additional photos of my husband & his friends smoking cigars since our photographer had left, and then danced with my family before heading out. The finished product was worth the 3 months wait. They not only captured every detail and natural smile, but also put their own unique artistic twist on it that truly makes it one of a kind with a killer soundtrack. I cannot wait to show it off to our friends and family. We have also already watched it a dozen times and we got it yesterday :)

BEST.DECISION.EVER. We were blown away by Mike and Kristin's work. Initially, we were debating whether or not we even needed a wedding video, and we couldn't be happier we decided to go for it. Long story short, let me start by saying this: if you're considering hiring Trailhead Creative as your wedding photographer, do it today! Right now, don't waste another minute. You will be so, so glad you did. Overall, I was absolutely blown away by my wedding photos. They were a dream (I mean, just look at them!). Mike & Kristin's attention to detail and passion for their work just shines through in every photo. They have such a talent for finding the best shot, and their creativity was exactly what I was looking for in a wedding photographer. I've been married for two months now and am still receiving compliment after compliment about the photos I've posted. I also want to give more insight into actually working with them. From the beginning, it could not have been easier. They quickly respond to emails and calls and work with you to map out the day, so no important shots are missed. All of you very busy brides can attest that not all vendors are this accessible and accommodating, which was very refreshing! On the big day itself, they were just amazing. They make you feel comfortable behind the camera, so they can catch those intimate (often awkward for the everyday person) shots that you'll cherish. Never once were they bossy or intrusive - they were very go with the flow, which I appreciated. That's not to say they didn't buckle down when it came to my laundry list of important family photos. They made sure they captured each one... and quickly at that! However, they truly shine in their candid work. On my big day, I wasn't in the mood to pose constantly or micromanage any of my vendors - after all, I hired them for a reason. They sought out just the most stunning pictures that I never would've thought of and considered the artistry of the entire shot (lighting, angles, editing, etc.) each time. Pro tip: if you have a very large wedding like I did (300+), splurge to the second shooter. It really made all the difference for only a bit more in cost. Once again, I'd like to say 'thank you!' to Trailhead. You really captured my wedding day in a timeless way, and I am thrilled to have this photos to look back on.

Kristen and Mike were the BEST wedding photographers!! We couldn't imagine having anyone else photograph our wedding! They are so easygoing, down-to-earth, and friendly. They checked in with us periodically before our wedding, which we really appreciated, and really made a point to understand what we were looking for and what we wanted for our wedding. Even with all of that coverage we never felt uncomfortable and they all did a perfect job of creating moments authentically and without fixing or forcing anything. Mike & Kristin we’re seriously the best! My husband and I have been married for 6 years, and as they were doing a couples shoot, they asked if they could be with us and take photos at our favorite spot! We went out to Mount Erie. Mike was amazing! He was great at communication leading up to the day and the day of. Took control in a great positive way to get the best shots in the time we had. He had us take creative risks that benefitted in a great way for our wedding and engagement photos.
