The Trumbull Marriott is an excellent place to have your wedding! Everything was so incredibly well-organized, the staff is professional and wonderful, and the process from touring the venue up through the wedding was smooth. The packages here are very generous - you truly get a lot for the price, and everything was beautiful, elegant, and delicious! The chef is hands-down excellent, and the event coordinator made everything easy and really helped me through the process of getting everything to her. She was also as easy-going and helpful as could be the day before and day of the wedding, which was key to all of us in the wedding relaxing and having a great time (so many event coordinators don't do this - they love to stir the pot by escalating a minor situation into a full-blown crisis, so when they resolve it quickly, you think they are amazing and saved the wedding). All in all, great people to work with and a beautiful space for a wedding.
From the beginning Joni and I bonded. I came to her with a plan and a vision and she paired me with Linda who executed my vision. Everyone was wonderful, the wait staff was great and the bartender kept those drinks coming. Due to the excitement of the night, my husband and I didn't eat everything on our plates, but what I did eat was excellent and all my guests said the food was wonderful. I received great reviews on the potato bar. At the end of the night when we finally retired to our suite, there were sandwiches, soda, chips, and a great apple dessert waiting for us. Kudos, for their insight on providing us with extra food. That night I had the time of my life and I have Joni, Linda, and their staff to thank for making my reception truly a night to remember!!
Overall, we were satisfied with the Trumbull Marriott. We got a good room rate and Joni Yale (our sales representative) was a pleasure to work with. She is definitely a people-person and does a great job at listening and customer service. We couldn't say the same for our assigned banquet manager, Oscar Alvarado. We had communication issues and did not enjoy working with him. Overall, the experience was positive. The negatives were that the cake was brought out backwards on the dance floor, an expensive silk floral arrangement went missing, and working with Oscar was not the best experience. Regarding the positives, it was nice to consolidate things with the Marriott, we were able to get a good room rate, we didn't have to worry about transportation for guests/drinking and driving, and the food was delicious.
Great place! Beautiful great price for what you get. Really nice people! A few little bumps in the road, but overall a great experience!
I had a great time working with Joni and Linda at the Marriott. They were amazing to work with and very accommodating with all of my special requests! The rest of the staff was great the night of the wedding too. They were very attentive to all of the needs of the guests. The ballroom looked wonderful and the food was incredible. It is hard to serve over 200 people at once but they pulled it off flawlessly. Loved the filet mignon and the mashed potato bar. (They even used purple mashed potatoes to go along with my theme). I am an event planner and can't wait to plan another event with this team!
As a bride who works in the event planning world, I had high expectations when selecting our wedding venue. The Trumbull Marriott was our first appointment of the top five venues we were considering for our May 2011 wedding. From the first contact, I could tell their staff was friendly and attentive, and willing to work with us. When touring the hotel, that was confirmed. Our Sales Manager (Joni) clearly had quite a bit of experience and knew the hotel inside and out. She was up front with us and was able to answer any question we had, setting the bar very high for the other four venues, which just couldn't measure up. Once we signed with Joni, she turned us over to Linda who was able to pick up right where Joni left off. She was always quick to respond to our questions, would work with modifications along the way, and had an exquisette attention to detail. When it was time for the wedding, I was confident that everything was going to go smoothly. Their banquet team performed just as Joni and Linda did, hitting everything right on target as planned. We even had a mishap with our limo service (the guys were taking the limo 5 miles to the church and it was suppossed to come back to get the girls, however, they got lost and it turned into a bit of a headache), Joni and Linda came to the rescue and had the hotel van waiting for us to get us to the church as quickly (and safely) as possible. Even the guests staying at the hotel raved about the rooms, the service, and restaurant food. The service was right on mark, and the food was excellent - it's been nearly a month and we are still getting rave reviews from friends and family in attendance. We weren't just another number at the Marriott, and that was an important deciding factor for us as other venues gave us the impression that they "book and cook" and did not seem to care to be accomodating to us in any way. The Trumbull Marriott performed above and beyond my wildest expectations - they clearly have their event planning down to a science and I would highly recommend using this facility to anyone having any type of event.
The trumbull marriot provided a wonderful quote of 10,000 flat for an unlimited number of guests (300+), but the extras were few, and the venue had a lot to be desired. The carpet was rolling up in areas and the elevator smelled. They need to do some renovations. I did not go with them in the end.
