About this vendor
Situated on over 1000 acres of beautiful woodland in northern Michigan, the UAW Black Lake Conference Center is a wonderful location for weddings and family gatherings from April through October. Winter weddings are occasionally scheduled in February.
The unique Mid-Century Modern architecture and stunning scenery provide a picturesque backdrop for special wedding photos.
UAW Black Lake can provide venues for ceremonies, receptions, and rehearsal dinners, plus lodging options for your wedding guests.
The Center offers guests a variety of activities to enjoy while they are here to celebrate the wedding with you. Whether enjoying the beach on beautiful Black Lake, to biking or hiking on the trails, swimming in the large, heated indoor pool, or organizing a family game of basketball or volleyball in the gymnasium or softball, kickball, or baseball, on the sports field there are many ways to spend time together during the visit.
We should also mention the award-winning Black Lake Golf Club, which is just a hotel shuttle ride away, and is perfect for a pre-wedding activity to enjoy before the festivities officially get underway.
Catering and beverage service is provided by the Center for all events held at the resort. Outside vendors may supply the wedding cake and desserts, flowers, music, and decorations.
Site tours may be arranged by appointment so you can see the wedding venues in person and get a feel for what UAW Black Lake has to offer.

We had our wedding here in October 2023 and it was perfect! We are still receiving compliments on the venue and food. The staff was wonderful to work with, especially Cindy the event manager.
The venue itself is so gorgeous and unique. The rooms/apartments/condos are very reasonable. My friends and family have all talked about how they want to go back just for weekend get-aways and vacations. It was so nice having all of the guests staying in one location.
The food was sooooo delicious, people said it was some of the best wedding food they’ve had.
I highly recommend having your wedding here.
We had the most perfect wedding at the most perfect venue. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place! The buildings are beautiful mid-century modern architecture and have a picturesque scenic view of Black Lake. The staff are extremely accommodating and supportive and helped in any way they could with coordinating all of our stressful wedding preparations. My partner has Celiac and multiple different allergies, and the staff helped accommodate him and some of our guests who had specific dietary restrictions. The food was absolutely delicious as well! All of our guests raved about how much fun they had, how beautiful the venue was, how delicious the food was, and asked if they could come back here again even if there was no special occasion.
10/10 would recommend!
Could not have asked for a better venue. Not only is it beautiful, but the staff were OUTSTANDING! Everything ran incredibly smooth. They even went above and beyond with providing our wedding party with umbrellas as we went from building to building in the rain.
This place was truly a fairytale venue! Our guests loved our weekend getaway at the UAW Conference Center. The venue made for AMAZING photos. We will be going back for a weekend vacation.
The venue is absolutely beautiful. It has all the amenities you may need. Our guests definitely enjoyed our reception which was held at the clubhouse at the golf club. Dinner was fantastic as was the service the night of the wedding. We also had our rehearsal dinner on the UAW premises as well. That was held at the Sports Center. It was also another stunning facility. The only downfall for me is their communication. Planning was rather frustrating in the early stages. Our date was not finalized and no contract signed until late January- early February. Our date was for June. It was frustrating to not know when we were going to get the OK. We had been assured for over a year that the date was ours, but that they couldn't do their contracts yet. It was also frustrating to have an event manager who did not return emails or phone calls. It would be a good week at least before I would get a response. After complaining, she became more timely on her responses.
Overall, our wedding was beautiful. There was just some added stress and frustration that didn't need to be there.
Black Lake is a GORGEOUS venue that has it all - beach views for ceremony, beautiful/rustic ballroom and hotel rooms for guests onsite. My fiance and I knew we wanted an up north wedding and Black Lake fulfilled everything we wanted and for WAY less than we could have ever hoped for!
We got married on the beach of Black Lake and the set-up is so perfect for a ceremony. We used the main dining hall for our reception (150 guests) and we did not feel too empty in the space. My guests still comment on how you couldn't beat the views of this facility.
One downfall is since the venue is older the hotel rooms are VERY dated. On a hot (80 degree) September day - many guests complained of the AC not working well in hotel rooms however they were offered refunds which was above expectations. I would recommend renting the 4 condos for bridal parties and parents and those are updated and have plenty of space to get ready for everyone.
The food is amazing and you can't beat the price. We hosted our rehearsal dinner at the golf course and it was a nice spot as well.
My coordinator changed from Alissa to Cindy about mid way through the planning process which was a difficult change. Communication could have been faster but Cindy was new and did answer my many questions and is onsite all night! We had an issue with the bartenders but we were also refunded their fees which was nice.
We were between this facility and Boyne Mountain in the early stages and we are so glad we went with this facility! Boyne was slightly more expensive and we were going with it for the recognizable name but are happy we did not!
If you are looking for a venue on water, with hotel rooms and a rustic ballroom feel - this is your spot!!
I could not be happier with how our wedding turned out at the UAW. Alissa the coordinator was more than exceptional. It was less stressful being able to hold everything in one location, even being able to have our guests stay after a night of partying. It was so awesome to be able to have the shuttle service to take people from the ceremony to the reception. The views are beautiful, food was delicious, and staff was more than accommodating for 300 guest wedding. If you are looking for something more rustic, with everything included, this is the place for you.
Black Lake is the most beautiful, picturesque venue to host a wedding. The ambience is rustic, yet elegant and serene. Our event planners were fantastic and addressed every detail in a professional manner. The staff at the UAW treated my daughter’s wedding as if it were their own. There was no task too small or too great; everything was done to perfection. The food was second to none. Two weeks later, our guests were still raving about the wedding. We couldn’t have made a better choice; I would highly recommend this facility for any important function. Some of our guests enjoyed lodging at the campgrounds in its natural beauty, while others enjoyed staying at the lodge or apartments. I was happy to see guests take advantage of some the many amenities such as the game room, swimming pool, hiking and biking through the untouched nature trails, and naturally, golfing at the infamous UAW Black Lake Golf Course
