Good location with great ocean edge views. Kim and her team provided good services on the day and all my guests really enjoyed the food and drinks. Highly recommend for all couples.
I cannot begin to describe how perfect our event was at the Wailea Beach Resort. MeiLi was extremely communicative with me and once we arrived at the resort, she made sure our entire experience was perfect. We were only supposed to have an upgraded room for half of the stay and she was able to upgrade us to an oceanfront suite the entire trip. When we arrived in our room, she had some of our favorite snacks, champagne, and other beverages for us. My husband does not drink alcohol and she made sure they brought up his favorite pop. A different ceremony and brunch reception location on the resort were available that were nicer than what we originally were going to have. MeiLi went out of her way to tell us we could move our event, showed us the locations, and let us use these upgraded locations for free. She definitely did not have to do that and we would not have known the difference - her going out of her way shows how dedicated she is to customer experience. MeiLi was there the entire trip to answer my random questions, including recommendations for food, groceries, resort amenities, and even brought up a full size notepad so I could write my wedding vows. She went above and beyond anything we expected.
The day of the wedding was absolutely perfect and everything ran so smoothly. Our brunch event was perfect. Even though it was pretty warm outside that day, the new location MeiLi suggested was covered and had a great cool breeze going through. The pictures we took at the brunch venue almost looked fake because the background was so perfect of the ocean.
I cannot recommend having your wedding at Wailea Beach Resort enough. The outstanding service, communication and overall experience our entire stay was above and beyond anything we could have ever imagined. The experience was so great that I did not even mention the gorgeous resort, outstanding amenities, and beautiful views. Wailea Beach Resort is the only place we will stay when we visit Maui going forward - we are lifelong customers!
GORGEOUS venue for our dream elopement wedding ceremony. Everything was perfect. Alejo in event planning was such a great help and a fantastic communicator. We purchased a small wedding package and they took care of literally everything. Our ceremony was on a small bluff on property over the water, about 100 feet from our hotel room. It could not have been more convenient or beautiful. I definitely recommend getting married here!
The grounds of the Marriott were gorgeous...there was NO bad backdrops. The staff were over the top accommodating. We decided to go the Te Au Moana Luau on sight for our reception. The timing was perfect and are guest loved it. Words and pictures does not capture how beautiful the grounds are.
I'm reposting this here. I've stayed here a few times for vacation and always enjoyed it.
However, wedding planning with Marriott was terrible.
First off let me say that Tracy at a Dream Wedding is fabulous. This is NOT a review of my experience with a Dream Wedding . A dream wedding plans the ceremony only.
For context, we had an 80 person wedding last summer.
Cons:
1. Marriott will ignore you. Examples:
- My Marriott event coordinator, quit, and left the state over a month before my wedding. Fine, except: Marriott made no effort to tell me for weeks. They did not even have the professional courtesy to send a quick "we'll be in touch " email. All I knew was that I couldn't get a hold of anyone for weeks until 2 weeks before my wedding. The only reason I finally got any info was because a wedding vendor [out of the goodness of their heart] physically walked to their office to ask what was going on since the wedding was rapidly approaching. This is 2 weeks and change before the wedding! The most insincere apology I've ever gotten from a business came from Marriott's management . They said they were sorry because they had been 'busy'. As if wedding guests/ vendors/myself are not' busy' and waiting for Marriott to be able to finalize vacation plans and timelines.
- It took 2 months [no joke] despite several emails and phone calls to get any response to the basic questions: who is my point of contact at Marriott? What are my payment and decision deadlines?
- Once a point of contact was established, email turn around time for time sensitive issues [signing contracts, etc] was slow , not infrequently up to 2 weeks.
3. Marriott is so disorganized. They will waste your time and increase your stress. Examples:
- The planner will try to charge things for your wedding which are already included in your package/ contract. You have to waste your time watching charges, digging up your contract and old emails to prove that the charges are already included in your standard package deal. The planners will not familiarize themselves with your wedding package.
- The planner will keep asking you the same questions despite having gone over the same thing several times previously by both phone and email.
- The receptions had no clue about the room block pre-specified discounts on resort and parking fees: embarrassingly, wedding guests had to waste their time and my time to resolve this - multiple times.
- Basic wedding things that happen so seamlessly at other hotels are impossible to make happen here: eg Wedding party bags delivered given to guests/ delivered at check in. We asked if we should do it ourselves, but were told not to worry about it. Not surprisingly, there were still issues and I was being called about it by Marriott at 9:30 pm the night before our wedding.
I could go on.
For your sanity, go with any of multitude of other beautiful venues in Wailea. I've been in a few weddings in Maui and planning portion was so much smoother.
Perhaps Marriott is fine for smaller wedding where planning and communication is less pressing.
To be fair, if you plan your wedding here, your wedding will be beautiful because everywhere in Hawaii is beautiful - the Marriott grounds are no exception. Execution on the day of was fine.
We checked out the final renovs a few weeks ago and they look good: clean modern lines without feeling too trendy. The renovated rooms are lovely, spacious, modern.
The florist and food were good.
Be prepared to walk if you stay at this hotel. We paid for a "beach front" room and there isn't really any beach front rooms here at this hotel. The only thing we really got was a much longer walk and having to go up and down stairs dragging our suitcases. Also, if you are on your honeymoon don't expect them to do anything different than if you were on a regular hotel stay. I've had friends go elsewhere on their honeymoons and they were pampered and treated like royalty and I thought that may have been fun since it is a once in a lifetime trip. I think that's just Hawaii in general though. Oh well.
The hotel was great though and the grounds are beautiful. I saw sea turtles by the shore most days which was fascinating to me. The rooms were clean and the beds very comfortable! The pool was the best part about our stay here. The cocktail waitresses are wonderful and give the best restaurant recommendations. They will even make your reservations for you! We also liked having a Starbucks at the hotel as well. There are shops close by with restaurants and plenty of other options within a short drive. We also enjoyed the gym facilities as well during our stay. We look forward to coming back here, but won't pay extra for beach front next time.
Wonderful place for a small wedding. Great service.
All of our guests stayed at this resort and absolutely loved it. The luau was amazing as well!
We choose this location for our wedding because it was at the waters edge on an open grassy area. It was beautiful and the hotel was very accommodating. Of the four hotels along this stretch of beach the Marriott has the best wedding site location at the water with Molokai in the background. If I had to do it all over again, I would do it here!!!
My husband and I got married at the Wailea Beach Marriott, and we are so happy we did! The staff is warm and helpful, the resort is beautiful, and the Pacific Terrace rooftop reception area is absolutely breathtaking. From the moment we arrived, everything was taken care of for us. Cindy, the event coordinator, took care of every little detail so all we had to do was relax and enjoy. Our guests are still talking about the beautiful views, delicious food, and amazing location.
