We looked at a number of venue options online. With family and friends in Chicago, Grand Rapids and Detroit, we put the Kellogg Manor House, near Kalamazoo, on our consideration list. We ended up visiting 7 places. Once we saw the Manor House, we were sold. The house and grounds are beautiful-perfect for our late September wedding. We had about 150 guests and took full advantage of the site--getting dressed in the house, ceremony at the lakeside pagoda, social hour on the patio adjacent to the house and reception in a large tent on the grounds. Many of our guests commented on how beautiful the setting was.
Given where we live, most of our planning and communications were via e-mail. Nicole, the sales and event manager, knows weddings. She was responsive and patient with all of our questions, and her advice and recommendations were spot on. The entire staff is friendly and professional, and they all went out of their way to make the planning and our wedding day easy. They have a good vendor list for the things they don't handle themselves (e.g., florist, DJ), a big help as we are not from Kzoo. Additionally, Nicole reached out to and coordinated with each and every vendor that was part of our day. The Manor House handled some of the food and all of the alcohol, and we were very pleased with the selection and service.
We were thrilled with how everything turned out. The venue was just what we wanted, and Nicole and her team gave us the day we imagined.
This was the absolute perfect venue for our ceremony. We chose to have our reception elsewhere, but our ceremony was performed on the lake. Everyone complimented how beautiful it was, the sound was just fine with mics, and most people were able to walk up & down the stairs (and enjoyed it)- they do have vans to help the older folk down to the pavilion. We had a cello player & she was heard just fine as well. It was a hot day, but the breeze from the lake turned out to be exactly what we needed.
The lady that "ran" our ceremony was amazing! She listened to what I wanted, but also suggested ideas that worked a lot better. She helped me with my dress down the stairs & made sure everything went off without a hitch. It was her first time doing it there, as well, but I must say she did an outstanding job. Everyone in my bridal party even complimented that she was very kind & made sure everything was perfect. HIGHLY RECOMMEND checking this place out!
Our wedding at the WK Kellogg Manor house was PERFECT! I had been lucky enough to attend a wedding there a few years back and when we got engaged this was our first stop for a venue. And it is perfect! We had our ceremony down by the water and our reception up on the patio of the house. The staff was incredible, the food was outstanding, and the venue is stunning! We received so many compliments about the great food and the beautiful surroundings! We opted for a completely vegetarian meal and the chef delivered top-notch food! They were great about accommodating dietary needs as well. The venue is so pretty we decided to go really simple in decorations and were glad we did - the Manor House really is wonderful and is beautifully decorated! Our photographer was able to find so many wonderful places for photos - and getting ready in the house felt like a wonderful treat, too! Thank you to the staff who were so great about everything from start to finish! I highly recommend this place!
Every guest at our wedding commented that they had never seen a more beautiful wedding. This venue is seriously stunning. Our wedding was beyond even my very best vision of it - it was truly perfect. Nicole and her team at the Manor House, including Carol who was so kind and thoughtful, are to thank for pretty much all of it! The staff were generous and attentive, and they all seemed to genuinely care about making the event special. Nicole was so fabulous to work with, she met with us and talked with us over the phone many times, always making herself available, and always when she answered questions it was the perfect answer. We live in Brooklyn, NY so our availability to see the venue and meet was limited and Nicole really worked with us to make it easy on us. It was so helpful that everything was handled in one place - from the food (which is truly delicious, guests commented on how good the appetizers and dinner both were), to the ceremony set up and the reception and dance floor - having it all managed by Nicole made it so that we didn’t have any complications trying to manage it from out of state. I had a lot of personal touches and little details that I felt very particular about, and the staff at the Manor House took care of them all and Nicole made sure that everything really was perfect. She took care of us and I loved knowing, on the wedding day, that we were in very capable hands and we had nothing to worry about. It made the experience so much more grounded and enjoyable to feel like it was all taken care of and we could relax and enjoy, and that is what we did!
Our wedding was PERFECT, in big part to Nicole and the whole team at the Kellogg Manor. We live across the country and had to do a lot of the wedding planning by e-mail/phone. They made it so easy! Every concern I had was already taken care of, and they have everything on site so I didn't have to deal with managing multiple vendors. For the rehearsal and wedding day, they made everything so easy and smooth so we didn't have to stress at all. Nicole even coordinated with the DJ, Bakery & Florist to get everything there on time and in the right place. The house and lake are BEAUTIFUL, the food is wonderful and it was very affordable for our small wedding (80 people). It's a bit in the middle of nowhere, so we rented a bus to take our guests to the hotel in Kalamazoo, which worked great. Otherwise, you can stay onsite in the cottages. I could go on forever, but I'll just say this...if you are considering having your wedding here, do it. It was the best, most perfect day ever. Thank you Nicole & Manor staff!!
We had our wedding ceremony at the pagoda behind the Manor House in September and our guests stayed in the Kellogg Biological Station dorms/apartments and cottages. We have received so many compliments on this venue, and people asking, "How did you find this gem?" Having lodging right on site was so nice; it felt like a true getaway. The staff were great to work with - very helpful and responsive to our requests and questions as we were planning the wedding. The day before and day of, Danae was so helpful making sure everything was just perfect - it took a lot of stress off my shoulders to know that someone was making sure everything was going smoothly. The rehearsal dinner in the manor was lovely - great food and a beautiful setup with flowers on the tables. We received a card in the mail after the wedding from Danae and the KBS staff saying "congrats" to me and my husband and saying thank you for choosing their venue. This is a great example of their attention to detail and warmth/friendliness. Thank you! Highly recommend.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this venue and staff! Our wedding went so smoothly -- and even if it didn't, they would have handled it with professionalism and grace. (We almost wished for a thunderstorm, because the backup plan sounded like so much fun!)Nicole is a true resource. From going over the fine details, financials, vendors, local recommendations, lodging, to fluffing my train the moment before walking down the aisle, she was prepared, calm, honest, and beyond helpful. The food was impeccable and delicious. We opted for a buffet setup in the dining room, and our guests ADORED it. This historical site is so charming and classy, I barely spent $$ on decorations. With the dance floor on the patio, it allowed the dancers to DANCE while the conversationalists have cozy chats outside or in the living room nearby. They made it so easy to get married and enjoy our day!
Magic. Pure magic! I couldn't have dreamed a more perfect day.
The Kellogg Manor house did an excellent job hosting our wedding reception. Everyone had wonderful things to say and they did an excellent job meeting our expectations. We did have some confusion with specific meals related to allergies when dinner was served but other than that the night went off pretty perfect.
I hesitate to recommend the Kellogg Manor because I love what a hidden gem it is. Our wedding was everything I could have hoped for and more! The Kellogg Manor has everything- a lakeside ceremony site, beautiful gardens, and a historic manor house that is stately without being stuffy. It was truly the most beautiful day I could have imagined.
I also can't say enough about the staff. When they say they do the coordination for you, they mean it! I was shocked, considering they didn't charge any extra. I brought in all of my decor the night before along with tons of notes and pictures showing where everything should go, and Dana organized everything and made sure it was right where I wanted it the next day. This turned out to be the biggest benefit of The Kellogg Manor. It took the pressure off my family so they could enjoy the day without having to worry about setup, and I could relax knowing that it was all handled. Dana even brought plates of appetizers up to the dressing rooms while we were preparing for our grand entrances!
The staff also treated everyone with warmth and kindness. I felt like they were excited for our special day, which made me feel at home and happy to be treating my friends and family to an event there. Nicole and Dana were always quick to respond to emails, and coordinated with the chef to make sure every question and concern was attended to. The food was very good, although I do wish they had saved the leftovers for us (I was definitely hungry again by the end of the night!)
I also feel great recommending the Kellogg Manor knowing that it is a historic site that has a lot of involvement in the community. In addition to the educational events they offer, I also love that I can go back to visit for various special brunches, teas, and a Christmas craft shop. All in all, I am so happy to have made the Kellogg Manor such an important part of my life.
The Manor House was everything I could have dreamed of for a ceremony venue. Dana was great to work with and had everything running smoothly. Even though it was a little cloudy, the house and lake were a beautiful back drop for our wedding.
We used the W.K. Kellogg Manor House for our wedding ceremony and they were FANTASTIC! I had a lot of issues with other venue sites while we were in the process of finding a place to get married, but with the Kellogg Manor House, we had a great feeling and experience from the start. We met with Nicole Kokx and her assistant showed us around the property and every person we met was friendly and excited about weddings. We booked that day and it was very reasonable deposit and site rental fee. Very easy to work with and the day of our wedding they did everything in their power to make it run smooth and be a perfect day. I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful site for our ceremony, getting married outside by the lake was perfect. They also had a backup plan for us if it ended up raining that day. Lucky for us, it was a gorgeous day and we didn't have to worry about it. I would highly recommend them for a ceremony site. We didn't use them for our reception, but I think it would be an excellent place for that as well. If you are looking for a fairy tale setting, this is your place.
After searching high and low my then fiancé and I found the perfect venue for our ceremony and reception. We used their pagoda garden with beautiful Gull Lake as the backdrop for our ceremony. Our reception was in the manor house and out on the patio. Their garden and grounds make it unnecessary to bring a lot of your own flowers. I still have people remarking to me how pretty the setting was and how great the food was. The chef took all of our suggestions in stride and gave us a fabulous menu. Can't recommend them enough!
My wedding at the Kellogg Manor house was wonderful!!! Everything from meeting with the coordinator Nicole and planning the event to the day after the wedding when we checked out of the carriage house apartment! On the day of my wedding I truly felt like royalty!!! Nicole and all of the attendants we so very accomodating and Nicole has a beautifully energetic yet laid back personality which made me feel at ease through the entire wedding planning process! She knows her stuff!!! I was so impressed when she was telling me of several ways to keep costs down and short cuts to make it easier on myself and my soon to be (now) husband :)
On the day of my wedding the wrong song began to play as my bridesmaids were starting to walk down the steps towards the lake. I looked over at Nicole with a panicked expression I'm sure and she without a pause waved and snapped her hand signaling the D.J. to stop at once! He went back to the previous song (which was the right song) and the processional continued. Had it not been for Nicole's quick reaction, I probably would've been in tears! I also like how she was at the reception if I needed her but wasn't right there watching every little thing; she gave us our space which I appreciated :) It was amazing....every little detail! I can't thank Nicole or the Manor House staff enough for making our day so very special! If I can to do it all over again....I wouldn't change a thing!!!
Very pleased with the Manor. Melissa was great to work with. She handeled everything so confidence and made my life very easy which I appreciated
So glad we went with the Kellogg manor house. This venue is absolutely gorgeous overlooking Gull Lake. Melissa was fabulous making site everything ran smoothly! Wonderful!
We found the Kellogg Manor house after striking out on tons of different venues on lakes in Michigan. My fiance actually found them online and showed me the website and it was EXACTLY what I wanted for our wedding. From the minute I went to visit the property, I knew it would be the most beautiful place for an outdoor ceremony and reception.
Nicole was our wedding coordinator there and she was very helpful from the start. There are multiple options on their property for ceremony and reception sites and it really felt like it was customized for our needs. Kellogg Manor did the food for our cocktail hour of the reception and I got rave reviews on this as well from our guests. They loved being able to tour the house during the cocktail hour and learn about its history.
I highly recommend them to anyone that is looking for a wedding venue!
