A Casual Mountain Wedding at Windy Point Group Campground in Dillon, Colorado
Sarah Kilzer (32 and an activities coordinator) and Greg Neumann (34 and a restaurant manager) wanted their wedding to be relaxed and casual without too much fuss. They chose Windy Point Group Campground in Dillon, Colorado, for its stunning views across the Dillon Reservoir and towards the Ten Mile Range. Getting married in the fall (late September) only made the views that much better with yellow aspen leaves decorating the site. Inspired by the leaves, the couple chose yellow as their main color and added rustic details such as aspen branches from the forest around them, river rock from the waterfront location and Colorado Beetle Kill wood. They added some ultra-local details with the microbrew beer from more than 20 Colorado breweries for their cocktail hour. One of the couple’s friends, and owner of Black Diamond Gourmet, catered the wedding with a fajita buffet, and, for dessert, they had an angel food cake and homemade cookies made by the couple’s sister-in-law. “Our focus of our special day was to provide a relaxed environment for our friends and family to come together and celebrate,” Sarah says. “We love having a good time, so we made sure our reception seemed like another backyard barbecue or campground party.”
