A Classic, Outdoor Wedding at Indianapolis Zoo in Indianapolis, Indiana
Sarah Triplett (29 and in advertising) and Phil Triplett (28 and an attorney) had the outdoor garden wedding they had always dreamed of at the Indianapolis Zoo in Indianapolis, Indiana. Their photographer, openField photography, captured every beautiful moment from the ceremony in the zoo's Wedding Gardens to the large, white tented reception. After seven years of dating, Sarah had come across plenty of inspiration for how she wanted the wedding to be. In the end, the wedding featured a navy, gold and blush color palette to match the chic, garden setting. "In my mind, the invitations are the first thing guests see to give them an idea of what your wedding is all about and what they should expect," Sarah says. "It sets the tone." Sarah and her friend's stepmother created the perfect invitations, from the fun fonts to the entire design. Sarah also played a heavy role in designing the pretty flowers seen throughout the day. Sarah, her mother and the wedding day florist, JP Parker Flowers, used ombre pink tulips and peonies to contrast the navy colors used. The Indianapolis Zoo even had one of Sarah's favorite decor elements already set up under the tent. "When I imagined my big, white, tented wedding, I'd always wanted tons of different lighting and lanterns," Sarah says. "One of the benefits of the zoo is that they have permanent huge, white lanterns hanging from the tent." Adding to that, Sarah and Phil brought on a lighting design company, Atmospheres Indy, to add pale pink lanterns and small globe lights. "I loved the look of all the different lighting elements," Sarah says. "It really made everything feel more intimate and festive."
