A Waterfront Destination Wedding at Wild Dunes Resort in Charleston, South Carolina
After Elizabeth Turner (30 and a nanny) and Matt Haas (33 and in veterinary orthopedics sales) went to their friend’s wedding in Charleston, South Carolina, they decided to scrap their original wedding plans in Cleveland and plan a small, intimate wedding at Wild Dunes Resort. “We actually chose everything sight unseen and could not have been happier with our decision,” says the bride. A seashell path led guests to Seashell Point, a cove overlooking the ocean where the couple exchanged vows. The reception took place in the Grand Pavilion: “It was nice because it was covered, but all sides were open to an ocean view,” says Elizabeth. Instead of a traditional wedding cake, the couple opted for South Carolina-inspired doughnuts called The Charleston: Bourbon cream filling, toffee glaze and topped with homemade pralines from Glazed Gourmet. Yum! The bride wanted to make sure the groom felt extra special, so she included lots of surprises for him on the wedding day. “Matt’s celebrity crush is Taylor Swift, so I had a sign painted with her lyrics to ‘Love Story’ as a little joke. I also had our musically gifted friends create an acoustic version of Rihanna’s ‘We Found Love’ for when I walked down the aisle.”
