This Couple Eloped Atop a Double-Decker Bus in Downtown Chicago

Monica and Ken welcomed loved ones on a whirlwind tour of the Windy City, complete with a sight even more spectacular than the Sears Tower: their wedding.
“We originally planned on a traditional wedding venue, but it didn’t feel like us,” Monica says. “The double-decker bus was an easy, fun way to have a Chicago wedding without having to spend a fortune or plan a year or two in advance.”
The pair started the day getting ready at a rented townhouse with 34 of their loved ones before hopping on the big red bus. From there, they rode to the Adler Planetarium, where Monica and Ken said their vows. “The sun set just as we finished speaking,” Monica says. “The whole city was laid out in front of us.” Afterward, everyone headed to Carnivale for Latin- inspired bites and cocktails.
“Sealing our vows with our elaborate signature handshake felt so good,” Monica says.
“Life is not about following a certain format,” Monica says. “Make your wedding—and your life—about what feels right and makes you happiest.”
