Our Story

We’ve each written about some key moments in our relationship! Scroll down to read about these days that mean the world to us 💕

How We Met - 9/24/22

After signing up for bumble (a dating app) Josh and Courtney matched and quickly noticed how easy it was to make conversation. After a day or so, Josh offered his phone number and Courtney sent him a text immediately! It was clear there was chemistry and they arranged a first date at the Frederick Meijer Gardens! They took a couple cheesy photos and talked for hours about life and adventure. 💕

Becoming Official - 10/30/22

Josh: Later that year for Halloween, I celebrated with Courtney’s family by playing pumpkin bowling and a donut eating competition. We talked on the ride home about how much fun we had, and I asked to make it official ❤️ All while dressed as Cosmo and Wanda 😅

Courtney: Our first week long vacation as a couple! How fitting to be the week of Valentine’s Day ❤️ This trip helped us grow closer with each day; from hiking in the smokies, walking downtown Nashville, swimming in the hotels pool, to playing UNO on the patio. We loved every second! This trip inspired us to start our US State Adventure Map and we now have 7 states crossed off. Once we have our wedding photos back, it will be a total of 10 state adventures together 🗺️📍

PROMISE RING DAY - 6/23/2023

Josh: I surprised Courtney with a promise ring to show my intentions on a future together! I picked out the perfect ring for Courtney. It was a pretty heart shaped rose gold ring that matched her outgoing personality. 💍

Moving in Together - 7/2023

Josh: In July of 2023 I decided to officially move in with Courtney and start a new life in Grand Rapids! 🙌🏻 (pictured: turning in my keys at the old place)

Upgrade to the Townhouse- 4/5/24

Courtney: After about 8 months in our apartment, we decided it was time to upgrade! I love that we have a guest room now, a designated dining room, and a cute little backyard patio that Luna can lay out on. We even have hookups for when we purchase our washer and dryer! 🥰

Getting Re-baptized 🙏🏻

Courtney had been baptized at 6 when she decided she wanted to dedicate her life to the lord, and Josh had made that same decision as a teenager. But after so much time, they felt it was the perfect opportunity to get Re-baptized together!

THE PROPOSAL 💍

Courtney: Josh took me out for dress shopping/dinner date night on the Friday before the proposal! He specifically requested burnt orange, which was already a designated wedding color. We met up with Ashley and Shelby, who recommended dressing up for Church on Sunday, AND going to the Frederick Meijer Gardens (our first date location). At this point I had an idea that a proposal was underway! 🤩

Courtney: That Sunday, we headed to the Fredrick Meijer Gardens and I thought I saw my dad’s truck! I even thought I saw his hair while we were walking around! Turns out, it WAS dad’s truck and blonde flowing hair I had seen. My parents had been ducking down to hide from us as to not spoil the surprise. Luckily they snapped a quick selfie of the moment! 🤣

Josh: Once we walked to the Japanese Garden’s waterfall, I knew it was time to purpose to my rose gold treasure! Out walks our fam who had been secretly hiding and following us the whole time! I felt so blessed to be surrounded by so much love and family ❤️
