The pithi is the tradition of beautifying the bride and groom before their Big Day; family and friends apply pithi (or haldi - a paste made with turmeric, sandalwood, rose water and natural ingredients) on Aakash and Marian. It is believed to bring good luck and fortune to the couple.

Following the pithi, friends and family are welcome to have intricate mehendi (henna) designs applied to their hands, followed by dinner.
