Anna and Jon met in 2021 during the summer before they started at Drake Law School. When the school year started, the two began spending time together to study and work on homework. By the time second semester of their 1L year rolled around, the two were taking study breaks to go out swing-dancing and eat ice cream.

After they started dating, they continued to discover things for which they had a mutual affection: sushi, movie theater popcorn, Harry Potter, Jon's homemade chocolate chip cookies, and board games (just to name a few!). Most importantly, the pair discovered just how much they loved each other.

In May 2023, Jon devised an elaborate scheme to ask Anna to marry him. They started the evening like they started their entire relationship: on a sushi date. When their evening was "interrupted" by Anna's best friend "requesting emergency help with a school project," the pair made their way to the Iowa Women of Achievement Bridge to lend a hand. After arriving at the bridge and letting the scheme continue a little while longer, Jon got down on one knee and asked Anna to marry him.

The couple will graduate from law school in May 2024, and get married a few short weeks later. They couldn't be more excited to share graduation, the start of their careers, and the rest of their lives together!
